Upgraded to Lion and now inDesign cs4 crashes when I go to print

Did you do an in place upgrade of Lion? Not a great idea.
Clean install followed by a clean install of all applications. You should also take note of the following:

  • LaserJet and InDesign printing problem

All of a sudden my CS6 InDesign will not print to LaserJet.

This is so odd. On this particular problem page, a couple of days ago I replaced the image 3 times and it still gave me a printer error. I copied the page from the 30-page doc onto a new, single page and still had the problem. I deleted the image and still had the problem. There are three text boxes and I deleted them one at a time and each time, all the way down to one text box, I was still having the problem. Tonight I go back to the original 30-page doc., replace the image, and the page printed out fine. Frustrating!

  • Mountain Lion upgrade and Internet connection problems ?

Since I upgraded my Macbook Air, it does not want to connect to my home Internet network anymore. My Ipad, Iphone and tablet PC are all working fine, but to connect to the network I need to restart and even reset my router to be able to connect. Needless to say, I lose connection when it gets into sleep mode and when it is shut down. Anyone having the same problem or a solution ?

I'm having similar problems with a 2012 13" MacBook Air. It's brand new, came installed with Mountain Lion.
I get disconnected from the wireless randomly and the wireless icons turns gray. Like you, I have an iPad, multiple computers and they all work fine.
Instead of restarting the router, I go into Safari and do a network diagnostics and it picks up the connection easily enough.
No solution as of yet, but I posted a topic here if you want to follow it:

I'm about to install my new Lion upgrade and do not have imovie. Which imovie upgrade should I buy?

If you don't have the Apple ID and password, how did you get Mountain Liomn in the first place? Without the Apple ID and password, you'll need to buy it to download it.

  • Lion Upgrade and Universal Binary Plugins

    Hey All,
So I read the apple press release about the Lion upgrade and if memory serves correctly I read that, with Lion, Apple will be discontinuing support for Universal Binary applications.
I'm currently running Logic Express 9.1.4 on Snow Leopard and I have a few Universal Binary AU plugins.
If I do upgrade to Lion, will my Universal Binary AU plugins also cease to work when I run Logic on Lion?
Additionally, will an upgrade to lion require me to run another series of upgrades in order for my system, and all my other apps, to run smoothly?
Not really complaining about this, just weighing the options before I decide whether to upgrade or not

I read about the Universal Binary support as well - don't remember where, did some googling. I'm not a big Apple/computer tekkie, but I have a feeling that going to Lion will be like the OS9 to OSX transition, but as if Classic Environment never existed.
I'd make the Lion decision based on your current hardware and software - is it working now? Or are you looking at some future release that only Lion will support? I bought Macromedia Studio (Academic) 2004 for about $200 or less back then, it's $529 now on Amazon, no cheaper/Academic version available that I can find (well, it's Adobe now.) Final Draft is screenwriting - basic word processing - no need to shell out close to $200 for a new version or a $99 upgrade that does the same thing on Lion (though after fighting with the company about their dropping support for my version, I was offered a cheaper upgrade - still, no need.) Also, MS Office works fine on the mini - again, basic word processing (I only and rarely use Word) seems crazy to upgrade, based on trying a new OS.
My G4 tower (I believe currently running 10.4.x) worked for my needs for what, 8 years? Still does all I need, I'll hold onto it, but chokes up a bit on Garageband, Final Cut 4 drags (but I never use it.)**  I upgraded to Mac mini for the Intel processor (for Netflix streaming and any new Intel apps I may desire) and I can see this one with 10.6.8 lasting me for years, since it's running all my old apps and any that are available right now.
Good luck, whatever you choose, but I still say don't do it unless it's a dual boot situation.
**These are hardware issues, OS was never an issue except, of course, for the very first OSX.

  • Updated to Lion today and my printer's gone bonkers

    Hi,
    Sorry for the naive question.
Hoping you can help me - and thanks in advance, if so.
I updated my iMac to Lion today and updated my printer drivers too. I have a Brother 5240 mono laser printer and used the suggested 10.7 driver upgrade. But between the two updates, my computer/printer interface seems to have gone nuts.
Printing web-based documents doesn't seem to be a problem, but printing from Word/Excel (2008) is making my printer send out unwanted copies of documents. Using the file>print approach seems to be generating print jobs in duplicate, but if I press the printer icon I'm printing in sextuplicate! I've tried resending printed jobs, restarting my computer, reinstalling the drivers... but these problems seem to be consistent. Nothing suggests a setting has become modified to create unwelcome multiple copies - I've even checked all of my default settings.
I can't see any reason why my printer is now printing at least 2 copies of Word documents (up to 6 if I forget what I'm doing and pressed the printer icon in the ribbon toolbar) now that I'm using OS X 7.0.
    Can anyone help me, please?
    Ally

Most apps seem to be fine - Adobe Reader, Preview, iPhoto, Stickies... all printing as normal.
PowerPoint and OneNote, however are doing the multiples bit too. So it looks as though it's only Office that's got problems.

  • 10.9.4 upgrade created a printer problem

I upgraded to 10.9.4 on Wednesday and now I can no longer print to my Canon MF5950dw printer. My Mac mini is connected to the printer by an ethernet cable through a router. It printed just fine before the upgrade. After the upgrade I repeatedly received the message that my mac could not connect to the printer. So I went into system preferences and opened the printers dialog and deleted the printer thinking I would add it back in again. Well, now nothing appears in the add printer window -- its totally blank. My mac won't detect the printer. I tried installing the combo upgrade but the problem remains. Any insight provided for resolving this printer problem would be much appreciated.

No result after applying the Reset the printing system.
No printer is visible in the "add printer screen".
The printer is a  Canon MP 510.
The printer is directly connected via USB to on elf the USB ports of my iMac.
    The printer in switch on.
Restarting the system does not solve the problem either.
Before 10.9.4 upgrade all printer drivers were up to date and the printer was working fine.
Any other idea of solving this problem?

  • Mountain Lion calendar and notes sync problems with exchange server via WLAN

After upgrading to Mountain Lion calendar and notes do not sync anymore with my exchange server via WLAN. There are no syncing problems via ethernet if WLAN is deactivated. Mail works fine with both connection types. Similar problems known? Solutions?
    Thanks for any ideas.

Exact same issue ... cropped up in the past 2 weeks. Constantly syncing and re syncing. Watching calendar events show up and disappear. Tried all the normal stuff including deleting and re setting up the entire acct ... no luck. It built out the whole calendar correctly ( from what I could tell) and then started to sync again and appointments randomly appeared and disappeared .....

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Canon printer problem!!

Use Photoshop CS6 to edit and print (try to print) to a new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer.  Photoshop is up to date and the Mac runs OS 10.8.5 - Canon printer driver is current at ver. 11.7.1.
When I print from Photoshop to the Pro-100 (let's say a 4X6 landscape snapshot to 4X6 borderless paper) the printer starts up and moves the paper out about 4 inches and then prints the
first two inches of the image, stops and ejects the paper!.  I've tried different versions of printer the printer driver and made sure every things is up to date.  However, I can print from MS Word,
Nikon Capture NX2, or Canon's own Print Studio Pro and it works fine.  Canon is no help because if it works OK with their Print Studio Pro then it's not their issue - I tend to agree with them.
The same thing happens print from Photoshop to 5X7 or 8X10 paper - it gets ejected so far and then only prints part of the image.  I've searched the Internet and posted in Forums but can't find
where any one would have the same problem.  What I'm hoping for here is someone at from Adobe who's knows Photoshop tech stuff will post here with suggestion because there is no more
phone support for Photoshop CS6.  I'd like to really keep this printer and get Photoshop to work with it but if I can't I'm going to offer it up free to a good home!  JM Davis

Thanks for your answer, indeed this fixed the problem. Quite stupid I did not see this myself

  • Smart objects from Illustrator and Indesign dimensions problem

I have been trying to find an answer to this problem for 6 months now and surprised no one else has tried to find any answers.
When we import something from illustrator or indesign as a smart object, for some reason the objects width and height will not keep their  dimensions in proportion.
When the asset is first imported as a smart object it says the width and height are exactly 100%. However after that if you try to change the dimensions they will be out of proportion, usually the width will be 100% but the height will be out by about 1% to begin with. When you scale up, the percentages fall further and further apart. See image attached.
This has become a real problem for our workflow as the creative director insists we must  correct every layer which has this issue by typing in the sizes manually, but then this doesnt always fix the problem either depending on which version of photoshop you are using.
Why does this happen, and how can we fix it for good?
    Thanks, Chris.

I do not have the answer for I don't have illustrator and indesign.  I do have Photoshop and have notice that it try to match resolutions and maintain sizes but it may also scale placed object etc. There are some some Photoshop preferences setting that can effect some operations. Photoshop also has support for non square pixels.
Make some test if illustrator and indesign have setting for pixel aspect ratio and DPI resolution. Make sure all documents have the same pixel aspect ratio and same DPI resolution and that the vector object to be imported are not larger then the Photoshop document their being imported to.
Thanks for the suggestions, but none of these would be the answer. Illustrator is Vector so it does not use DPI / Pixel aspect ratios etc.

  • Lexmark C743 and Indesign CS4 Problem

Does anyone know why Indesign CS4 will only print to my Lexmark C734dn (a postscript 3 emulation printer) with the settings that are set via the printers own web page but not with the settings set in the InDesign print dialogue? Specifically I want to duplex print direct from InDesign. At present it seems one can only do this by exporting to a pdf and using Acrobat (where the options both appear and work).
    Many thanks for any help.
    James

Since InDesign is an Adobe product you might want to contact them.
Or, contact Lexmark about duplex printing with ID.

  • OS10.8 and HP printer problems

I'm having problems printing wirelessly with my MacBook Pro OS10.8.4 and my HP Officejet Pro 8500A.
Initially I had no problems at all. However now, I can print in colour, but each time I select black and white printing the printer crashes (lights flashing and a message to turn the printer off).
HP have been very helpful and replaced the printer. It worked fine for a while, but now it's happening again. Interestingly, I have no problems printing using my MacBook Air under OS10.7.
    Any ideas?

I would recommend that you first update the firmware on the printer by using the download at the following link:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-94588-3 &cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4142&product=4116838&sw_lang=
After that, go into system preferences and select Print & Scan. Right click the rectangle listing your printers and select "Reset Printing System"...Warning: this will delete any other printers installed.
After that, go to the following link and download the most recent version of software available for your OS and printer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-108394- 1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4142&product=4116838&sw_lang=
Install that and let me know if it helps.
    Best of luck,
    Kyle

  • WRT300N and network printer problems

I have a pc wired into the router and a printer wired into it as well, they work fine.  I have a laptop that can access the router wirelessly and it can get out to the internet.  When I use the laptop to try and find the printer using the printer setup wizard its not found on the network, all i get is the microsoft windows network option.  The Printer is an HP 7780 model and has the wireless option, went with the the cable to try and limit complications.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks.

Depending on the operating system (Windows XP) go to the control panel and click on the Network Wizard and set up both computers and during the wizard it will give you the option to enable File and printer sharing.  After you set up your network you should be able to see the other PC and printer from each printer.  Also make sure you have TCP/IP enabled by clicking on start>control; panel>Network connections and right click on the LAN (wired or wireless depending on which one it is) and clicking on properties.  In there make sure TCP/IP is checked.  You may have to install any software on each PC that came with your printer.
