Lion upgrade to Safari

I just upgraded to Lion. My Safari doesn't have the 3 traffic lights on the top left. This makes clsoing Safari take 3 clicks instead of 1. How do I get them back?

Yes, that helped.
But now I no longer have a full screen view of Safari. Also, it is annoying to have to float the curor at the top to see those menu selections.
Mail looks quite different as well
I guess it will take time to get used to the Lion look, but so far I doen't see any advantages. Just change for the sake of change. Apple is starting to mimic Microsoft

  • I downloaded lion and now safari doesn't work

After downloading the mountain lion upgrade my safari would not open.  I updated the software, turned off the computer and restarted.  It still won't work.  It's not an internet problem because I can use firefox.
Does anybody know how to fix this?

Where are you opening Safari, from the Dock or from the Applications folder?
If from the Dock, try opening from the Applications folder.
If that works, remove the Safari icon in the Dock and Drag Safari from the Applications folder onto the Dock.
If you had moved Safari out of the Applications folder (even into a subfolder), then move it back to the Applications folder.
If you did move it or none of the above solves it, reinstall the OS (installing the 10.8.2 combo update may be sufficient, but I'm not sure).

  • I have Mac Book Pro osx version 10.6.8 if I download Lion will it upgrade my safari?

I have Mac Book Pro osx version 10.6.8 if I download Lion will it upgrade my Safari?
    Thanks

The most recent Safari version for Mac OS X is 5.1.7, and the most recent Safari version for Lion and Mountain Lion is 6.0.2, so Safari will be updated.
To upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion, see > http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade

  • Safari won't work since Mt Lion upgrade

    Running 10.8.2 on a 24" early 2008 imac 2.8 Ghz Intel 2 duo
Since the mountain lion upgrade, Safari and App Store can't connect to the internet.  Chrome browser works just fine, so I know it's not the connectivity.
    HELP!  -GREG

    Hi Greg,
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

  • Safari Crashes on Opening after Lion upgrade!

I just upgraded to Lion, and I try to open Safari, but it crashes before it loads my homepage!
I had recently set my default browser to Chrome in Snow Leopard the other day pre-upgrade, could that have something to do with it?

I'm using SL and found the perfect solution. 1) Follow oh_okay 's instructions, 2) download and reinstall Lastpass, 3) Restart Safari 5.1 and all should work fine. With this lastest update to Safari Lastpass functions a bit differently, having it's own tool bar with the option to hide. You have to click on the grey star, which stays grey, when logged in. There may be a tweek for that, which I haven't gotten to yet.

I've actually just found a solution.
As it turns out, LastPass was causing my crashes, too.
I had to find my SIMBL folder (~Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/LastPass.bundle) and remove the LastPass plugin.
After that, all was well. Not sure if I need to reinstall LastPass now or just pay for (what I've heard is the far superior) 1Password.

  • Incompatible Browser for Safari 5.1 (Lion upgrade)

Upgraded to Lion and upgraded to Safari 5.1, but now I get an "incompatible browser" error on some websites
    Example: https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/errors?page=incompatibleBrowser
I did not upgrade my wife's Macbook Pro and I am able to access the website just fine.
Has anyone been able to fix?

    Hello,
After upgrading to Lion I also experienced the exact problem with the federal student loan site.
FireFox worked for a day or so, then it started exhibiting the same error.
I tried switching the user agent as another user suggested, but as he said it was no guarantee. It didn't work for me.
I fixed the problem by deleting the files in my user/library/cache folder.
Since Lion hides the User/Library folder you can access it by holding down the Option key while select the GO menu.
Try it. I'm using Safari to type this message only because actually worked.

  • Just upgraded to OS X Lion.  Now Safari behaves erratically.  Some sights load at lightning speeds, other load painfully slow or not at all.  Any ideas here?

Just upgraded to OS X Lion.  Now Safari behaves erratically.  Some sites load at lightning speeds I have never seen before, others load painfully slow or not at all.  Any ideas here?

I would recommend running Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility) and Repairing Disk Permissions. Please run this at least 2x. It that doesn't help then post back, there are many other things to try.

  • I upgraded to Lion and now Safari doesn't work and the updater hangs so I can't install the updates. Can anyone help me with this?

I upgraded to Lion and now Safari hangs up and the updater hangs up so I can't install the update. Can anyone help?

    Reinstalling Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

I would like to upgrade my safari.  I have a Mac 10.8.5. Safari is 4

    Hi Sally246,
The version of Safari you use comes with the Mac operating system. With a computer capable of running Mac OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) you can also run Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) which comes with Safari version 8.0.

  • Unable to see pdf files with Lion upgrade

Since upgarding to Lion I've been unable to see my bank e-statements in Safari or Firefox. When the pdf file appears to load the result is a black statement in Safari and a white screen in Firefox. A right click does not allow me to download the file for viewing. When I spoke with their electronic support the said they have had many calls regarding this problem with newest OS X Lion upgrades. His suggestion was to uninstall or remove Adobe Reader v10.1.1 and allow Safari to read the files. Has anyone found a solution to this problem rather than completely abandoning Adobe Reader?

    Hi BDAqua,
Thanks for the info, I dragged a PDF to desktop ctrl-, get info. change all to open with adobe.
Problem solved, many thanks for a quick response.

  • Since Mountain Lion Upgrade is my Internet connection very slow, Since Mountain Lion Upgrade is my Internet connection very slow

Why is Safari so slow after Mountain Lion upgrade?

I have a home Optimum wifi network with Boost connecting to an Airport, with a second Airport extending, and an Airport Express extending. I have a MacBook Pro, last year's model, two iMacs, a year old each, and an older iMac. (If necessary I can get all the models etc, but I just want to express the problem). The two new iMacs and MBP are running Mountain Lion. The older Lion.
Since upgrading to ML my connection speed both over the wifi and directly connecting to the router has dropped from 30-50 down and 5 up to between 1-4 down and 4 up. I have had the cable folks here to test lines. We've swapped out the modem with a new one. I bought a new netgear N600. Everything led to the same result.
Here's the odd part. When restarting the modem and plugging it directly into the powerbook, initial tests show 30-50 up and 5 down. But once you reconnect to wifi, lose speed, the re-connect directly to the modem the slowness persists directly connected to the modem.
So I start suspecting Mountain Lion. BUT the older iMac cannot be upgraded to Mountain and is still running Lion and has the same issue. The equipment is in the same place it's always been. We've added no electronics that would be interfering with signals.
Everyone is stumped and looking suspicously at the computer and OS. Please help. I'm beginning to hear the bing bong bing bong of dial up in my head.
