Lion Webserver not working

Hi guys,
after the 10.7 Server update my Webserver (+wiki) is not working anymore...Here's the system log:
ul 21 16:27:02 xxx com.apple.launchd[1] (org.apache.httpd[4249]): Exited with code: 1
Jul 21 16:27:02 xxx com.apple.launchd[1] (org.apache.httpd): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
Jul 21 16:27:12 xxx org.apache.httpd[4252]: httpd: Syntax error on line 156 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_user_host_apple.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_user_host_apple.so, 10): Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libproxyauth.dylib\n  Referenced from: /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_user_host_apple.so\n  Reason: image not found
the file usr/lib/libproxyauth.dylib is indeed not existing...should I restore that file from a backup? What are your ideas?
Thx,
Ben

I had exactly the same problem.  It didnt help when I added the file from a back up or manually recompiled all of the apache modules from the command line.  It seems to be an issue with OD and SSL.  You could try creating a self signed SSL certificate or reconfiguring OD from scratch (Set to stand alone, re-boot, set up a new OD, r-eboot).  That didn't work for me.  I had to do a clean install from scratch and re-import my users, manually migrate mail, calendars, etc.  Lion cost me about 30 hours of work overt the weekend getting my Production Box up.
I had tried calling apple support.  They were useless, just told me they had no experience with Lion and I would have to wait a week or so until their engineers might be able to look at it.  If I wanted a faster response they told me to pay $800 for an enterprise support incident.

does Lion really not work with Microsoft Office?

I am afraid I have reverted to Snow Leopard as I was having one problem after another with Lion and for every problem I was solving, two new ones cropped up. I won't bore you with a long list, but one example is whenever I clicked on a single saved document to view, Microsoft Word would open not only that particular document, but also half a dozen other ones as well. Also, my Canon printer did not operate properly nor would Aol. With a lot of other weird stuff happening every day, the final straw was when my Time Capsule wouldn't backup properly, but just 'hang' indefinitely.
Luckily, I have two HD disks on my iMac and I had installed Lion on HD2 while still retaining Snow Leopard on HD1. I also made a Lion installation disk for future installation when all these software bugs have been sorted.
I am back to normal service with Snow Leopard and shall not return to Lion until at least the next upgrade/patch becomes available. I so looked forward to Lion as well, but I was fighting a losing battle.
I would suggest anyone who is in my position trying to stem the tidalwave of software problems with Lion, make an installation disk for Lion and go back to SL until the next upgrade.

  • Mac Os X lion installation not working.

os x lion installation not working, when the installation bar comes to 99% a pop up widow tells me that the installation has failed and the file could be damaged or something. But i just downloaded it from appstore. Any ideas?

Here's an update on my problem:
Called Apple Support the other day. They basically told me that they can't help, because this is a problem of misconfiguration and that those kinda things weren't covered. Still the person on the line gave me a hint, I should look for leftovers of previously installed software in /Library/LaunchDaemons/ and /Library/LaunchAgents/ .
Well, that did the trick. In one of the folders I found "net.shrew.iked.plist". This file obvioulsy belongs to the ShrewSoft VPN client. I removed it and the built-in client works again.
I reinstalled ShrewSoft one more time to see if it works without the mentioned plist-file...needless to say it wouldn't connect anymore, but that's alright with me - for now.

I just got a 27' imac i7 2TB/SSD my Toshiba i7 worked fine on my old router in a metel shelf unit not this mac! So I bought the Time Capsule $300.00 ouch! my Mac/lion is blazzing fast know and so is my Toshiba i7 windows. The $100. routers in the stores are most likly version R as well but the TC runs 2.4 or 5 GHz at the same time or fix it eather alone. Plus a 2TB back up drive! Now this is not the only problems your going to have with the new OS lion system it went away from Roseta so older softwair dosent work and your chaseing the net for drivers!!!!

  • Why does print function in Preview with Lion OS not work?

Since upgrading to Lion, the print functionality on Preview does not work.  When you select Print, the rainbow wheel of misfortune appears and I have to force quit Preview after a while. The print window does not even appear to select a printer (I have multiple print drivers and drivers installed).
All other aplications print nornally as before the upgade.

    Hi,
After upgrading the EPSON drivers to version 2.8 under Lion, I now have an issue when printing PDF's with preview. Some text will not be printed, which is very odd. I have an Epson ALC2800 connected via ethernet, and I can successfully print the same documents from my windows 7 PC, or even from Acrobat reader on my MBP.
So, it seems that the issue is present in Preview, or at the least in the way, it prints. I hope someone can help me with this, because I use preview all the time (and I quite like the functions which are not present in Acrobat Reader)
    thanks in advance,
    David

  • What functions in lion will not work on my macbook i bought in 2008

I bought lion yesterday and I do not know what functions will not work with my MacBook I purchased in 2008

You won't notice the ones that don't work!
Anyhow, based on my 2007 MacBook (which should be similar), and on the assumption that you don't have a multi-touch trackpad (i.e. one that recognises threee fingers or more):
    1. AirDrop won't work.  You don't have the hardware to run this.
    2. Multi-touch swipes (three finger navigation between Spaces, invocation of Mission Control etc) won't work.
    3. Automatically disappearing scroll-bars won't work (i.e. they will be permanent)
Pretty much everything else will work as well as it does on other platforms.

  • Built-in Apache webserver not working after upgrade to Lion?

Since the update to Lion the built in Apache web server won't start. When I click on the box in "System Settings" -> "Sharing" the little light briefly turns yellow and the box unchecks again. I could not find any error message in the console. Any suggestions?

  • Lion wifi not working on brand new 2 grand + imac

    Incredible!
Over two grand spend on a imac 27 inch workstation.
Lion was installed and since then wireless is up and down like a east end lady of the night's knickers!
The macbook which is still on snow leopard is blazing away at 20 meg connection but the new expensive paperweight is performing bad!
Basically you can connect it to the wireless router and it works for about 5-10 minutes then steady either drops off the network or pages just refuse to open.
Given that the macbook has worked with our home router setup just fine and also that we have a multitude of other devices NON apple which work fine with the rouiter I will not be looking to change the setup in the house to accomodate the demands of a buggy lion.
When does apple intend to fix this glaring bug?
Or even admit there is bug?
pretty shocking imho that a new O.S is released with such a major flaw!

    Hi,
    Already tried this last night.
    Deleted connection , recreated it.
    re-setup the router connection also.
It works for about 10 minutes then starts to loose connectivity.
I've even witnessed it lose connetivity then connect with a IP address that is not even
    in the DHCP range.
Basically from everything i'm reading this morning the product is BORKED seriously and apple have again suceeded in selling us a 2 grand paper weight with no internet connectivity making productivity on this new machine impossible!
    Thanks for the suggestion though.
    Lion = FAIL imho.

  • Migration Assistant problem: Lion to Lion does not work

Background:I have a 2 year old 15" MBP. I just purchased and tonight am setting up a brand new 27" iMac 2.7Ghz i5.
I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion the day it was released on the MBP. A day later, I purchased the iMac which still had Snow Leopard so I used the "up to date" program to get a free version of Lion. I did a clean install of Lion on the iMac since it was brand new.
Problem: I connected the MBP and iMac via Ethernet cables connected to my Airport Extreme. Migration Assistant worked on the initial steps, finding the MBP and matching the authentication codes. After that, I get to the screen where the iMac is looking for files on the MBP and calculating the size of folders to move. On this screen (on the iMac side), an error box pops on and off many times for about a minute then stays there with the following: "Your other Mac stopped responding.    Make sure that all of your network devices are connected and turned on. If you cancel the transfer, use Migration Assistant to complete the transfer later.      Looking for your Mac..." It only gives me the button to "Cancel Transfer"
My connections were fine. I was able to connect until this point. This issue happens whether the connection is Ethernet network via Airport Extreme, both connected via Wifi from the Airport Extreme, or connected directly via Firewire 800. I've tried everything I can think of. No solution and have not found this issue here or on any other forum.  Any ideas?  I really want to use the Migration Assistant route with this. I've use it before on previous Mac's with no issues.

I just talked to the Apple support and they suggested to try the migration using Time Machine. That's was also my idea  this morning so I'm trying to do this now.
For the Apple support I add the repeating part from the console here:

  • Need to wipe hard drive, Lion Recovery not working

I've been having problems with this mac and want to completely wipe my hard drive and only put on the Lion operating system, my itunes music, iphoto folders, and a few folders that are already backed up on an external hardrive. My cd-rom drive doesn't work, so I need to use the online Lion Recovery to safely reinstall lion after I clear my hard drive. When I restart and hold down CMD-R, it doesn't bring me to the Lion Recovery/Disk Utility window. It only shuts down after a while. I've tried this many times and I'm not sure why I can't get into the partition so I can reinstall Lion without using a disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you could tell me exactly how to put on the select items above (not an entire system backup) that would be great. I just need a complete computer makeover because it's a 2008 macbook pro and its been slowing down a lot. Thanks!

...it's a 2008 macbook pro and its been slowing down a lot.
Well by the sounds of it you have a hardware problem of some sort, perhaps not.
Your going to need a friends Lion Mac and Admin access to do this trick to copy thier Recovery HD to a USB thumb drive
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
    https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1433
Once you have that you can option boot off the Recovery USB and wipe your entire drive (use the Disk Utiilty > Erase and one selection from the right to securely erase and map off failiing sectors, takes longer but better for your drive and data), then install Lion from Apple's servers with your Apple ID and password.
Setup with the same User name (different password ok) if you want to preserve your iTunes playlists, next hook up your storage drive and return files into their old Music, Pictures etc folders.
No settings will be transfered or anythng else, you set up everything fresh and new again, aka "Erase and Fresh install method" of #20 here
Step by Step to fix your Mac
Later you should be looking at making a option key bootable clone with Carbon Copy Cloner to another blank external drive, this way you can boot off of it and reverse clone in case of problems.

  • Lion WiFi not working on resume

I am working on a MacBook 5,1 and after upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard had tons of issues.  So many, that I just went to the apple store and had then erase my HDD and do a fresh install of Lion.  But I'm still getting an issue with the WiFi.  I'm not sure if its an issue with the operating system, or my hardware, but whenever I resume from standby, my WiFi claims to connect, but I can never connect to a DNS server unless I turn the WiFi off then back on again.
I know it's not the network, since I've tried it on several with the same results.  Its not computer-breaking, but it is very annoying, and I was wondering if anyone knew a fix for this issue or some sort of workaround.
    Thanks.

  • OS X webserver not working

I recently updated a Snow Leopard server to 10.6.8 and installed a new self signed certificate and now the built in webserver isn't working.
I've tried restarting the service, the computer, running the combo update again and checked the conf file to make sure php is running. Still nothing.
When I try going to localhost or 127.0.0.1 on the machine it just says 'Safari cannot connect to the server'.
    Anyone have any ideas?

And now I feel dumb. After installing the certificate I thought I had updated all of the services and I had looked under web and didn't see one for certificate except there is one under secure web (which I'm not using so I didn't look.) I updated the certificate there and now its working. >_<
Thanks for pointing me to logs, I have no clue why I didn't look there in the first place.

  • OXS Lion wifi not working?

Ever since upgrading to OSX Lion, my macbook pro late 2010 model has been having a hard time connecting to my router. It would detect the router and when I try to join it, it says "Cannot connect to NETGEAR". All the other computers in my house connect just fine but they dont have Lion installed on them. And when I did connect to the router it would have a little exclamation point on the Wifi icon at the top of the screen. I would then have to wait for about a minute or two then it would connect. Someone please help.

Since I installed Lion on my iMac i5, i've had issue with Airport constantly dropping my connection to my DSL moden.  It's not the modem since I have two iPads, another iMac and two iPhones that share the DSL. I've reinstalled Lion once with the assistance of Apple Support and tried everything else they asked me to do. At last report, the engineers are still working on the issue.
