Lion WiFi not working on resume

I am working on a MacBook 5,1 and after upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard had tons of issues.  So many, that I just went to the apple store and had then erase my HDD and do a fresh install of Lion.  But I'm still getting an issue with the WiFi.  I'm not sure if its an issue with the operating system, or my hardware, but whenever I resume from standby, my WiFi claims to connect, but I can never connect to a DNS server unless I turn the WiFi off then back on again.
I know it's not the network, since I've tried it on several with the same results.  Its not computer-breaking, but it is very annoying, and I was wondering if anyone knew a fix for this issue or some sort of workaround.
Thanks.

Hi,
Already tried this last night.
Deleted connection , recreated it.
re-setup the router connection also.
It works for about 10 minutes then starts to loose connectivity.
I've even witnessed it lose connetivity then connect with a IP address that is not even
in the DHCP range.
Basically from everything i'm reading this morning the product is BORKED seriously and apple have again suceeded in selling us a 2 grand paper weight with no internet connectivity making productivity on this new machine impossible!
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Lion = FAIL imho.

  • OXS Lion wifi not working?

Ever since upgrading to OSX Lion, my macbook pro late 2010 model has been having a hard time connecting to my router. It would detect the router and when I try to join it, it says "Cannot connect to NETGEAR". All the other computers in my house connect just fine but they dont have Lion installed on them. And when I did connect to the router it would have a little exclamation point on the Wifi icon at the top of the screen. I would then have to wait for about a minute or two then it would connect. Someone please help.

Since I installed Lion on my iMac i5, i've had issue with Airport constantly dropping my connection to my DSL moden.  It's not the modem since I have two iPads, another iMac and two iPhones that share the DSL. I've reinstalled Lion once with the assistance of Apple Support and tried everything else they asked me to do. At last report, the engineers are still working on the issue.

  • Lion wifi not working on brand new 2 grand + imac

    Incredible!
Over two grand spend on a imac 27 inch workstation.
Lion was installed and since then wireless is up and down like a east end lady of the night's knickers!
The macbook which is still on snow leopard is blazing away at 20 meg connection but the new expensive paperweight is performing bad!
Basically you can connect it to the wireless router and it works for about 5-10 minutes then steady either drops off the network or pages just refuse to open.
Given that the macbook has worked with our home router setup just fine and also that we have a multitude of other devices NON apple which work fine with the rouiter I will not be looking to change the setup in the house to accomodate the demands of a buggy lion.
When does apple intend to fix this glaring bug?
Or even admit there is bug?
pretty shocking imho that a new O.S is released with such a major flaw!

  • Windows 8.1 wifi not working after sleep (and other various bugs)

Hello Apple support forum, this is my first post!
Alright, so I just switched to my first mac. MBP Retina late '13. I bought it primarily to run windows, and to also of course use OS10.
My issues in bootcamp however are getting annoying. My Wifi shows up as connected after I resume from sleep, but my mac won't let me disable wifi, enable airplane mode and then re-enable wifi, nothing. The only way to get wifi to work when resuming from sleep is to reboot.
I just set hibernate when close lid on all my power modes, and basically disabled sleep for now. Hibernate works fine for now, but sleep is much faster from resume and also I'm not sure if the machine will wake up from a simple tap on the keyboard or opening of the lid, I think I have to actually boot it all over again anyways.
My other minor but still annoying issue is my titles of windows in windows are showing up as black (screenshot here)
the only other thing I was curious about was the dual-gpu functionality. I know from reading these forums it's probably not possible because of the hardware and software mesh apple created for OSX and their dual-gpu design, how it wouldn't really work in windows. I'm just wondering if anyone ever got this to work in windows maybe on the older retina MBP or older macs, or if anyone is making progress on trying to fix that in windows? I bought this laptop expecting that to work, even the geniuses at the Apple store said it would be possible, I was misled and might have second-gussed buying a 3k machine if it would only get a few more hours battery than my old Vaio. I bought this machine primarily for battery life.
I'm just remembering another tiny tiny issue. When I plug headphones in the headphone jack in windows, it doesn't automatically switch to that audio output, I have to manually do it in audio settings, is this a bug, have I configured something incorrectly, and is there a fix?
One other thing is my dpi settings, I have it set to a larger font and everything because at stock it is SOOO tiny. my question is, is there any way to smooth out text in other apps, my browser and apps like rdio look like crap unless I leave the dpi settings stock, which I basically need a magnifying glass to use (I tried that for a week lol. Not the magnifying glass tho haha)
I know I'm rambling at this point, but in the windows 8.1 camera app, sometimes my camera does this bug where it flips between inverted and normal, extremely quickly, so it looks like there are two of me. I don't know if this was GPU drivers tho, because just reinstalled those this morning and it seems to be ok so far.
also, the keyboard. I miss my context menu key, what do I need two command keys for? A right alt button, I'd rather have that be the other control button. Any way to remap these easily? what about switching Fn with control on the left, I prefer my windows button in the exact corner.
last question tho, I saw people overclocking gpu's on their retinas from last year, can you do this on the new retinas, and can you overclock the cpu as well as the gpu?
I do have to say this in the end, I am a little dissapointed with apple, I was told thst my mac would run windows like a native windows machine. I know windows 8.1 is not supported, but coming from PC's for years, and being a PC technician, I also go to school for computer engineering, I expected everything to "just work" as steve jobs once said. Well, it doesn't just work. I even had these issues in windows 8, which is supported.
Installing windows 8 was a nightmare. I had to use the forums, try for weeks to get windows 8 to finally instll the proper (uefi) way, and to get everything usable, I had to reinstall my os's twice.
Apple, if you are going to advertise a mac that can run windows "seamlessly", you need to get these major issues fixed, support all new versions of windows before they are even release, and release proper hardware drivers and support software before new hardware is released. All other Windows OEMS are pretty much required to do this to stay in business. I don't dislike OSX, I just use windows for everything I can't use Mac for, so please fix this. You're better than this, you should put a higher standard on this. otherwise, don't advertise macs that can run windows.
Thanks guys, sorry for the information overload. BTW, MBP Retina 15" 16GB RAM 512 SSD, 2.6 haswell, pretty much the max specs other than the SSD.

I have stated every issue I’ve had so far in a fairly clear and concise way. I think if you read what I wrote, it all makes logical sense as to what is going on. Windows 7/8 would work just as well on a Mac if it was supported the same way the OS is for other OEMs.
As I stated earlier in the post, I’m having these same issues in windows 8, not just 8.1, which is the reason for the post. I know the difference between supported by drivers and not supported by the manufacturer. The fact that when Haswell mbp’s came out and no revision to bootcamp for the new hardware was released to fix issues with installing windows on the new hardware shows Apple clearly Is not supporting bootcamp as strongly as they advertise.
I am being realistic on Apple having drivers early. Anyone with an MSDN subscription can download the RELEASE version of windows months ahead of the actual release, I’m 100% sure if any average consumer can do that by paying $100 and saying they are a developer, apple can do it just as easily.
You aren’t much help, you haven’t answered really anything to my post, nor have you contributed any knowledge that wasn’t clearly posted above, so don’t say anything if you don’t have anything to contribute.
By the way, my rant is directed at apple, as you can see because I am saying “Apple, if you are going to…” because this is an Apple forum on Apple’s website. It is not directed to end users, clearly.

  • Upgraded to Lion-internet not working, lost Itunes account

Internet/ wifi not working since I upgraded to Lion, I also lost itunes (being advised to install latest version.)  I did back up the laptop prior to upgrading.....
COME ON APPLE- THIS IS STUPID!!!!!

It's the lion's wifi it's vary sensitive to the signal! you need a version R router bought a Time capsul it's an R.Move your router away from any metel and see if it helps. I just got a 27' imac i7 2TB/SSD my Toshiba i7 worked fine on my old router in a metel shelf unit not this mac! So I bought the Time Capsule $300.00 ouch! my Mac/lion is blazzing fast know and so is my Toshiba i7 windows. The $100. routers in the stores are most likly version R as well but the TC runs 2.4 or 5 GHz at the same time or fix it eather alone. Plus a 2TB back up drive! Now this is not the only problems your going to have with the new OS lion system it went away from Roseta so older softwair dosent work and your chaseing the net for drivers!!!!

  • How to fix iphone 4s wifi not working

How to fix wifi not working on iphone 4s after it is updated to ios 7 ?
Here is what fixed my wife's phone after several weeks of no wifi. We had removed the Sims card and transferred to another phone which was running ios 6. My son was visiting and said Apple had come out with an update a few days ago and he decided to attempt to install it on the 4s phone that had no wifi and no cellular because the sims card was removed. He tapped the icon to update the new ios version and received the message to the effect that No WiFi available would you like to search for available networks. He selected yes and immediately the wifi came on and has been working now for two days. Also we never installed the update to the new ios.
My advice is to remove your sims card like we did or trun off your cellular and attempt the update to see if you get the message to search for available networks and then of course choose yes. Go figure. Hope this works for you.

  • Does Lion really not work with Microsoft Office?

does Lion really not work with Microsoft Office?

I am afraid I have reverted to Snow Leopard as I was having one problem after another with Lion and for every problem I was solving, two new ones cropped up. I won't bore you with a long list, but one example is whenever I clicked on a single saved document to view, Microsoft Word would open not only that particular document, but also half a dozen other ones as well. Also, my Canon printer did not operate properly nor would Aol. With a lot of other weird stuff happening every day, the final straw was when my Time Capsule wouldn't backup properly, but just 'hang' indefinitely.
Luckily, I have two HD disks on my iMac and I had installed Lion on HD2 while still retaining Snow Leopard on HD1. I also made a Lion installation disk for future installation when all these software bugs have been sorted.
I am back to normal service with Snow Leopard and shall not return to Lion until at least the next upgrade/patch becomes available. I so looked forward to Lion as well, but I was fighting a losing battle.
I would suggest anyone who is in my position trying to stem the tidalwave of software problems with Lion, make an installation disk for Lion and go back to SL until the next upgrade.

  • Mac Os X lion installation not working.

os x lion installation not working, when the installation bar comes to 99% a pop up widow tells me that the installation has failed and the file could be damaged or something. But i just downloaded it from appstore. Any ideas?

Here's an update on my problem:
Called Apple Support the other day. They basically told me that they can't help, because this is a problem of misconfiguration and that those kinda things weren't covered. Still the person on the line gave me a hint, I should look for leftovers of previously installed software in /Library/LaunchDaemons/ and /Library/LaunchAgents/ .
Well, that did the trick. In one of the folders I found "net.shrew.iked.plist". This file obvioulsy belongs to the ShrewSoft VPN client. I removed it and the built-in client works again.
I reinstalled ShrewSoft one more time to see if it works without the mentioned plist-file...needless to say it wouldn't connect anymore, but that's alright with me - for now.

  • Iphone 3G wifi not working after upgrade

Iphone 3G wifi not working after software upgrade, no proper fix from Apple. APPLE SUPPORT - R U SLEEPING.......

You are not talking to Apple. This is a user to user forum.
If you're using the iPhone 3G, there will be no fix for your problem. The software you have, 4.2.1, is the end of the line for the 3G. Apple is no longer providing software updates for the 3G.

  • Network controller& USB controller driver not found and wifi not working

hello  I Purchased HP 15-ac025TX (M9V00PA) Notebook laptop  .  i have installed all driver from HP site here is the link  http://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-15-Notebook-PC-series/7771404/model/8326084#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1  but still netwok controller driver not found also wifi not  working  i installed blutooth drivers too . I am using window 7 sp1 (32 bit) For network controller device ID is PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_804A103C&REV_01 secondly  univeral serial bus driver(usb) controller   not found i installed all drivers from above link  also update windows  but still no solution hardware id of usb controller is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9CB1@SUBSYS_80C2103C&REV_03  and last i am unable to download  AMD/Intel Switchable High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver. the download link not working KINDLY RESOLVE THE ISSUE THANK YOU

Update: While the driver I knew would work has not shown up yet, I did some detective work and explored some other broadcom wireless card driver folders from some HP links, and I found one that should work for you. While it says it is for HP desktop PC's, they put the exact same wireless card form factor in a desktop PC that they do in a notebook PC. I see no reason why this driver would not work, since the setup information file contains the same hardware ID that you posted.  Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file and you can see the hardware ID you posted is supported by this driver.  x86 - Win7

hi, i am not able to connect to the internet. wifi not working. not able to find proper drivers for 32 bit win.7 os. need urgent help..
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi:
I can give you the link to the wifi driver, if you do the following steps to post the hardware ID for the wireless card, so I can figure out what model wireless card the notebook has...
To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the device labeled Network Controller.
Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window.
Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description.
Drop down on that list and select the second item (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters you see in the window.

    Hi Apple .
My wifi not working ...i have already try reset network it seem the same .... sometime i only able to use for few hours after that my wifi not working anymore and sometime event i have to shut down my iphone for wifi connection . Now it become more worst sometime i unable to turn on my wifi .... pls email me for solution . I purchase my iphone from Apple Store online from malaysia but currently im working at oversea . Can i get warranty at Taiwan ?

The iPhone warranty is not international.  Apple will only honor the warranty in the country where the iPhone was sold.
If your WiFi connections button in Settings is greyed out, see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559 and if you want to Troubleshoot, and can access the router, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 those may help but you probably need to have the iPhone tested by an Apple technician.
