Lion won't go past "install" in App Store

I tried to instlal Lion a few days ago. Went through the App Store, put in my login stuff, hit buy and then it popped up on my dock with the progress bar. After a few hours it was still not even 25% so I went to bed. The next morning it had not made any more progress. I clicked it and it said it was paused, so I clicked resume, but nothing happened. It wouldn't change to say "Pause" so its like it never unpaused.
Now after I quit it and tried again when I open the app store if it doesnt already say "Installing" then that's all it says after I click "Install" and the icon won't even pop up in the dock anymore.
Running a macbook pro with 4gb @ 2.53 ghz. Not sure what other info you guys may need so let me know if I can give you more

I have, numerous times. When I do the App Store just says Install. When I click it, it says installing but the icon never pops up

  • Macbook Air is preinstalled with Lion but not marked as "Installed" in app store

    Hi all
I'm trying to restore my macbook air and im at the step to restore lion in recovery mode. When i proceed to install, I'm asked to login with my app store id then i get the message "You must sign in with an apple id that was used to purchase lion"...... but lion is already pre-installed when I bought my macbook air.
After checking in the app store, it's isnt marked as "installed" as per other posts i've seen but it has the price $29.99.
Do I have to buy Lion again just to restore my macbook?
Thanks in advance for the help.

That's why. You didn't buy it from the App store.
You can only get a physical copy of it if you buy the OS separately.
There's no reason to need a physical copy unless you are trying to install it on another machine, which you don't have a licence to when Lion is pre-installed. It's analogous to the old gray disk/white disk difference in the old days. Gray disk (comes with your computer) can't install on any other machine. White disk (you buy the OS separately) will install on anything.
If you need to re-install on your own machine, you use the Recovery disk or the Internet recovery mode.

  • I can't install Mountain Lion because I can't install Mac App Store

I have Snow Leopard, and have purchased a download of Mountain Lion. The instructions say I can't get the download without going to the Mac App Store. I tried, and that seemed to require a download of Yosemite. I downloaded Yosemite, which took an hour, and now can't install it because I get a message saying this computer uses Time Machine for backups. In fact, I don't use Time Machine, so I tried taking it out of applications. However, I still get the same message. I am totally stuck, going around in circles. Is there a way to get the Mac App Store without going through Yosemite? Is there a way to download my purchased update to Mountain Lion without encountering all these extra problems?  Thank you for any help.

See OS X- Cannot install on a volume used by Time Machine for backups. You should not have delete the Time Machine application.
If you have 10.6.8 installed then you can open the App Store on your computer. On the right under Quick Links is a link, "Redeem." Click on that. Enter the redemption code you were sent for Mountain Lion. After it is accepted the download will start. If you now click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar, you will find Mountain Lion entered and a progress bar for your download. You should see something similar on the Launchpad item in the Dock, if you have one.
After the Mountain Lion download has successfully completed it will automatically launch. My advice: before you click on the Install button locate the Mountain Lion installer in your Applications folder and put a copy of it in your Downloads folder for safe keeping. Once you have completed the Mountain Lion installation the installer will be deleted automatically. By having your own copy you can make a USB flash drive installer:
Make Your Own Mavericks, Mountain/Lion Installer
After downloading the installer you must first save the Install Mac OS X application. After the installer downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
       2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the leftside list. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
Use DiskMaker X to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive. Wait for the process to complete which will take quite some time.

  • Lion won't even begin downloading from app store?!?!

I purchased it in the app store and it immediately debited my account for the cost (of course).
When I click on install I simply get "0 bytes of 3.74 GB - Less than a  minute remaining" AND IT NEVER CHANGES.
After a while I get red letters next to the INSTALL icon that simply states "An error has occurred"  (Really?  Derrr...) and the icon disappears from my launch bar.
If I click INSTALL again, the red message stays there, the Lion icon in the launcher just sits at "waiting..."
So now support simply states "well, you'll have to keep trying or take it into a service center".  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!
It's been OVER 12 hours of absolutely NOTHING for $30.
Has anyone had this issue?  How can it be fixed?  I've waited patiently for Lion since the Keynote and now I can't even get it to download!
Remember that line Steve said in the Keynote... we've all heard it before... "it JUST WORKS"... I cry foul, FOUL!
I'm a NEW Apple owner.  Not such a great first impression I have to say.
    Help?

Hi Thanks for the update. Apple say my speed is fine I have ADSL and have downloaded FCP 10 , motion, compressor all without any issues.
For me to drive to a store is about 80k and then likely I would have to leave it with them, so 4 trips and a BIG disruption for me. There has to be an easier solution to this, after all its just a download file!!
I have plugged in the Ethernet cable as well.
PS I am in New Zealand South Island Central Otago Apple stores are not that common :-(

That is true - I apologize for not being specific - what I was mainly referring to is iLife applications. I have a notice on the App Store that says 3 apps need updates, I look at the apps and they are huge so since my connection is so slow I use my work connection and d'load the files from support to my Windows machine and carry them home, once d'loaded my MacAir states it cannot install, the update must come from the App Store.
I do the same thing for large Leopard and Lion files and I can install them without error, it is just the App Store files that the system stops.

FaceTime is included in Lion. The App Store version is for 10.6. If you deleted it, restore it from a backup, or reinstall the Mac OS.

When powering off my iPod touch, any application (facebook, viber etc)installed using App Store won't work again
    How to solve this issue?

Try a hard reset first. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck, try downloading and installing a new app from the App Store.  Doing so has cleared the issue up for several users.

  • How do I install the app store release of 10.7 if my current OS is 10.7 DP4 (11A494a)?

I installed OS X DP4 (11A494a) over Snow Leopard, and now I want to install the App Store's OS X 10.7 Lion over Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A494a). However, the App store tells me this: http://d.pr/UsZx
How do I install the app store release of 10.7 if my current OS is 10.7 DP4 (11A494a)?

Make a clone of the entire volume using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. After you have installed the new OS, simply migrate everything you need.

  • When Lion officially comes out from the Mac App Store, I understand that I can just buy it from there. However, will the laptops have Lion automatically? Or does it come with Snow leopard still.

The ones sold that day will come with Snow Leopard most likely but they will be able to get a free upgrade to LIon if they apply within 30 days. Hardware coming through the supply chain from the day of the announcement will have Lion installed so it depends what stock people have to move before buyers see those.

  • Clean install & Mac App Store (Can't reinstall Apps)

    Hello Everyone,
I just did a clean instal of OS X Lion and after signing into the Mac App Store, it is telling me that programs are already installed (which they are not). If I try to update or anything it tellls me these are associated with another account.
"To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
How do I get around this?
    Regards,
    CLM

Just to confirm, you can boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
When you select to reinstall OS X, what happens?
    Fix for missing MAS
It's possible #1 will do the trick, but you might need to do the additional steps in Keychain access.
    1.  Delete the files /var/db/crls/crlcache.db and /var/db/crls/ocspcache.db. These can be found using Finder’s Go >; Go To Folder menu (Cmd + Shift + G). This resets the cache of accepted certificates in the system. It doesn’t remove them, it just forces the system to rebuild the caches upon restart.
    2.  Open Keychain Access (/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access). Select Certificates in the Category picker on the left side. In the search bar, type in the word Class. Look through that list, and find any certificates that have a blue + symbol over their icon. These are the ones you need to modify.
Select one that has a blue +, and hit Command + I. Click the disclosure triangle beside the “Trust” list to show the list of permissions. Now, what we need to do is to set this certificate to use the system defaults. However, for some reason, when you select it, it doesn’t save. So what you need to do is this. Under “Trust”, where it says “Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)”, change the dropdown menu to say “No Value Specified”. Then, close the window. It will ask for your administrator permissions. Then, open the info pane for that certificate again. Under “Trust” again, now set the dropdown that says “When using this certificate:” to say “Use System Defaults”. You can then close out of the info pane, and enter your password again. Do this for any of the certificates that have a blue + on their icon. There should only be one or two at most.
(Note: I had to toggle the settings before it would stick)
    Restart your system.

  • Why can't I install the App Store App on my Mac OS X v10.5.8

why can't I install the App Store App on my Mac OS X v10.5.8
Just purchased OS X Mountain Lion but in order to down load I have to have the App Store App on my Mac. Please help.

10.6.6 was the 1st to support the App Store, 10.6.8 is actually needed now as a minimum.
Install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.(10.9/Mavericks is the only download available now without specially calling Apple).
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

  • I just downloaded Mountain Lion for my MacBook Pro from the App Store.  Can I also download it for my iMac without paying the $19.99 fee again?

I just downloaded Mountain Lion for my MacBook Pro from the App Store.  I was curious if it is possible to downloand Mountain Lion to my iMac without paying the $19.99 fee again?  Not trying to be a cheapskate, just curious if App Store purchases are universal like iTunes Apps.

You can re download Mountain Lion for free on all your authorized Macs using the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
    Select  Mountain Lion.
Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.

Well, my two-month-old MBP has no qualms about booting from a no-name external USB HD I put together...
Given that is is a common point of failure, I would imagine a large Apple Store should keep a stock of HD's on hand.
Now since you're a bit desperate and the genie pops up til Saturday and you seem to be the enterprising kind, let's try an experiment: if you have room enough in the external HD and assuming it isn't a Time Machine volume, why don't you plug it in, stick the Install CD and see if the installer lets you select the external drive as the install target. If you can install Leopard on it, on top of the backup without reformatting, and the Mac can boot from the drive afterwards, at least you would have some functionality restored and would be able to pull your stuff from the internal HD. Apple says booting from USB drives is not supported but that does not equate to not possible; some brands do work. Risks? Always. You can always lose your backup. Like I said, a challenge for an enterprising gal....
Next time around, consider having a bootable external clone at hand for rainy days. I keep three myself...
P.S. Since I'll be in the Dallas-FW area in late June, I can volunteer with the confetti....
