Liquid Spill Dispute--Anyone Have Advice/Similar Experience?

I sent my 15" MacBook Pro into the Apple service center for repair because some of the keys had stopped working, it was making that infamous whining noise, as well as doing the equally infamous random shut off.
Apple is now claiming that the defects are the result of the insides being trashed by some kind of liquid spill, the warranty is void, and I owe them $1000 for a new LogicBoard. I can confidently say that I've never, ever spilled ANYTHING into that computer. Not beer, pop, juice, wine, or even water. Hair, dust, and crumbs I'll own up to. But an all-corroding spill the kind of which they're claiming has happened? Not a chance.
I've got no idea what to do. The representative I talked to today was NOT helpful--she just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. I'm not sure who I need to talk to or what I can do to get this thing repaired under Applecare.
Has anyone had a similar situation--or know of any possible vindication available to me?

I've got a sinking feeling that you're right. You said you've been on both sides of the same situation. If you don't mind, can you elaborate on what happened when you were on my side of it?
When you guys (or girls) are talking about getting a second opinion or taking it to an Apple Certified Service Provider, are either of these options steps toward getting any use out of my warranty? Principle aside, I'm afraid my available fundage for this project is pretty much nil. Even if we're talking getting charged less than what Apple is asking, I'd probably opt to keep using my unreliable computer as is.
Boece: I know what you mean about an insurance claim--that's why I'm not seriously considering that route either.
No, no one used the word corrosion. "Liquid damage" was as specific as it got--no indication of what kind, how much, where at, what's broken, etc. All I know is that there's liquid damage and lots of it. I did go ahead and ask for pictures and more details, but I'm not crossing my fingers that the story is going to change. Not without some kind of ammo--is this what a second opinion will do for me?
No, I don't live near the ocean. The computer has spent extended periods of time in beachside neighborhoods (Venice, Colombia), but wasn't really getting opened or used. Never on a beach.
I don't know how much fight I have in me. I can make noise, or talk to people who will make noise for me, those are about the only tools I have at my disposal. I'm fighting hard with the urge to be self-righteous--I know that's not going to get me anywhere. But I'm sad and more than a bit steamed that this computer is looking more and more like a $2233 mistake and that I'm not even getting the redress that I paid for.

    I think what may be your main issue here is that the 2011
    server has the Intel integrated HD3000 and is is struggling
    to run both a Thuderbolt display and a second monitor.
    When looking at specs for Thunderbolt Display, it is stated
    that the 2011 Mini Server can only support one.  Adding that
    Dell monitor with 1920x1200 display may just be too many
    pixels for the HD3000 to handle.
    You may want to try setting the Dell to a lower resolution
    to test the theory to see what happens.  It is however,
    possible that any additional monitor when using the Thunderbolt
    display may over tax the HD3000 graphics.
    FWIW personally, I have been running a 2011 Mini Server w/ Thunderbolt
    display for almost a year now without any issues.  However, I don't
    use a second monitor.

        I understand your discontent Godfrey814! It is very strange to have these issues with multiple devices. While the store in unable to exchange your device after 14 days from purchase, your device is still within the manufacturers' warranty and it is eligible for a Certified Like New Replacement http://vz.to/uyYF0o if it is determined to be defective.     What version of iPhoto? How are you trying?
    As a Test:
    Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

    All I know is that once it is installed it is erased, the Lion Installer is erased from the applications folder.
    You won't have to pay for it again if you have to download again. Remember to move it out of the applications folder, then you can trash it when you are ready or even burn a startup DVD.

    I had a similar experience with mac e-mail where apparently someones ICLOUD id for their Iphone was created with an Alias I had @mac.com for years.  Originally thought the mail was phishing and deleted without opening - then received forwarded mail from the other persons non-apple account - so gave feedback through mail to apple and also sent an email to the other persons non-apple account from a non-apple account telling them I was getting their mail because it was my alias.    
    That person did get apple to untangle the accounts so I did have to reset my password once it was done.
    So one option would be to contact apple support to get them to find out what is going on with your account.
    E-mail contact of the other person was easy once I had a legit account to send to -- don't know how you would contact the other person in notes.

    Hi all.  I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
    But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
    Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
    Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
    Open the Users folder.
    Open your user folder
    Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
    Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
    Open the Installer Cache folder
    In Details view sort on Name
    Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
    Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
    When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
    I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
    For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?

    I'm guessing - if you've uninstalled the previous version, then surely there's nothing left to "update", is there?
    Can you undo the "uninstallation" procedure? If not, you will have to download iTunes again and install it as a new installation.

    when i publish my site and vew it the page on the web it just comes up with the file name w/ the ,swf and the "mising plug-in" message below. if i click on the file name it displays the flash file but gigantic (the entire height of the page).totally perplexed!

    By configuration I mean something where you have saved settings. This includes mail and facetime accounts, iCloud/MobileMe, and other passwords that are in settings or preferences within applications or system services. Beyond these, there are non-configuration passwords, such as when you access a shared computer on the network. In this situation the computer requires authentication information, but it is not saved in a configuration of sorts. Therefore instead of the password being automatically saved, the system provides this as an option to do if you wish.
    If you do not want your password saved in the keychain and automatically used, go to the configuration for the desired accounts and delete the password. Doing this will result in a prompt for you to supply the password when the service tries to connect. This prompt will have an option to save the supplied password in the keychain, but it will not be selected by default.
