Dear Experts,
Its been a long time since I touched on BW.
May I know is BW extraction for LIS and SIS different?
Any useful foundation info on these? I need to brush up on BI 7. Please help.

  • LIS and SIS

    Hi All,
       How to configure LIS and SIS in sales and distribution?
    Is there any need of abaper on this?

    SIS is nothing but sales info system.
    we are executing VA05 it fectches some data why it is fetching bcos of SIS configuration.
    detailed SIS configuration is given below.
    Standard SAP SD Reports:=
    Statistic Group:
    Purpose – To capture data for Standard Reports, we require to activate Statistic Group as under:
    --> Item category (Configuration)
    --> Sales document type (Configuration)
    --> Customer (Maintain in Master data)
    --> Material (Maintain in Master data)
    When you generate statistics in the logistics information system, the system uses the combination of specified statistics groups to determine the appropriate update sequence. The update sequence in turn determines for exactly which fields the statistics are generated.
    Configuration:
    IMG --> Logistics Information System (LIS) --> Logistics Data Warehouse --> Updating --> Updating Control --> Settings: Sales --> Statistics Groups -->
    1. Maintain Statistics Groups for Customers
    2. Maintain Statistics Groups for Material
    3. Maintain Statistics Groups for Sales Documents
    4. Assign Statistics Groups for Each Sales Document Type
    5. Assign Statistics Groups for each Sales Document Item Type .....
    All Standard Reports which are available are as under:
    SAP Easy Access: Information Systems -> Logistics -> Sales and distribution ->
    1. Customer -> Incoming orders / Returns / Sales / Credit memos / Sales activities / Customer master / Conditions / Credit Master Sheet
    2. Material -> Incoming orders / Returns / Sales / Credit memos / Material master / ...
    3. Sales organization -> Sales organization / Sales office / Sales employee
    4. Shipping point -> Deliveries / Returns
    5. SD documents -> Orders / Deliveries / Billing documents ...
    & so on.
    Some of the Standard reports in SD are:
    Sales summary - VC/2

  • Can anyone explain briefly  What is LIS and LO?

    hai sapbw-gurus,
    Can anyone explain briefly  What is LIS and LO?
    what is the different b/w LIS and LO?
    how u will create these two in sap bw?

    hi,
      LIS is old technique through which we can load the data. Here we use typical delta and full up-loading techniques to get data from an logistics application, it uses V1 and V2 update, it means that it was a synchronous or asynchronous update from the application documents to LIS structures at the time when the application document was posted.
    LO Cockpit is new technique i think from bw 3.0 ( i am not sure) which uses V3 which is an update that you can schedule, so it does not update at the time when you process the application documents, but it will be posted at a later stage.
    Another big difference between LO and LIS is that,
    You have separate datasources for header level, item level and schedule line level available in LO, you can choose at which level you want to extract your data and switch off others, which results in reduced data.
    we do not have this flexibility with LIS structures
    with Plug-In 2001.2 S2xx-Structures have been replaced by Logistics Extraction Cockpit. However, R/3 releases 4.x support S2xx-Structures and Logistics Extraction Cockpit in parallel.
    With new LBWE extractors there are a lot of benefits:
    - Detailed Extraction: extraction can be deactivated (e.g. Schedule Line Data) leads to leaner extractors with less volume.
    Document Changes: only BW-relevant data changes will be updated (less upload volume).
    - LIS-Tables are not updated reduced data volume due to avoided redundancy.
    - Update with Batch-Process (V3) -> no load on daily business (but now there are available different delta methods as the direct delta...)
    - No LIS-Know How necessary.
    - Functional Enhancements easy to be done.
    - Central, uniform maintenance tool for logistics applications (LBWE)
    - No Delta-Tables (SnnnBIW1/-2) no double update, no double Data-Storage
    - A lot of flows are covered: Purchasing,Inventory Controlling, Shop Floor Control, Quality Management, Shipment, Sales, Shipping, Billing, Plant Maintenance, Customer Service, Retailing....

    ---> it uses Readymadely available datasorce
    --->LO cockpit supports V3 update(BACK GROUND SCHEDULING Jobs)
    LIS
    ---> CUSTOMER GENERATED EXTRACTOR.
    > need to cretae everything...
    --->LIS does't supports V3 update mode... it supports only V1 (SYNCHRONUS)& V2(ASYNCHRONUS UPDATE)

  • Difference between Customer Generated Extractors and Generic Extractors

    Hi all,
            Can anyone please tell me the difference between Customer Generated Extractors and Generic Extractors.  I know that for all modules Generic extraction is possible by creating a datasource(RSO2) on top of a table, View or SAP Query in SE11.  What are customer generated extractors like LIS, CO/PA and FI/SL.
    What kind of extraction is used for FI/AR and FI/AP.  To my understanding we have BW Content Extractors.  Can anyone explain the extraction method and delta extraction for AR and AP.
    Thanks,
    Sabrina.

    Hi,
    Customer generated extractors are running on top of statistics data collection process in R/3. They extract data from statistical tables already available in R/3 and also use the mechanism already provided in R/3 to capture the delta.
    For example, PO data goes to statistical table S012 (it is an LIS table) and you can build a generated extractor on top of it. The difference between such extractor and a generic one is the fact that these extractors (eg LIS) use the same mechanism of capturing delta that the statistics table was doing (for example data that goes into S012 is also captured by these generated extractors). Some system tables and structures are generated automatically to support this functionality, you do not have to develop anything for this.
    Generic extractors on the other hand simply let you pull data from table/view/query etc. You have to develop code/functionality to support delta capturing for such extractors. If you built a generic extractor on top of S012 (it is a statistical table - LIS), you can pull its data to BW, but you do not have the delta capturing functionality in such case, you will have to code it yourself.
    As a thumb rule, you go with the standard/generated extractors, and use generic extractors only if it is necessary to be so.
    FI/AR and FI/AP extractors are part of business content (I think) and support delta functionality. To get detailed info on these, you can also look at help documentation -

    Hi,
           Wat is the Difference between LIS and LO extraction.

    HI
    One good difference between lis and los is
    lis uses transparent tables where as los use cluster tables
    ust some infos about LIS flows....

  • A problem with 1CL_OLIS002 and 1CL_OMAT001 extractors - delta extraction

    Hi
    I have a problem with 1CL_OLIS002 and 1CL_OMAT001 extractors - delta extraction.
    Interrelated extractors: 2LIS_11_VAITM and ZMATBATCH_Attr work well.
    For 1CL's extractors I see current data in RSA3 but I don't see LUWs in RSA7.
    Extractors send 0 records to BW.
    There is no entry in "BIREQU* " job logs like this:
    "Call customer enhancement BW_BTE_CALL_BW204010_E (BTE) with xxx records".
    which I find in job logs when all worked well.
    We had some problems with R3. I had to restart job "LIS-BW-VB-APPLICATION_13*".
    May be it has influence on these extractors?
    Any suggestions about how to resolve the problem?
    Regards
    PWnuk

    Hi
    Can you please share the solution of this problem with me,I am also facing same issue of Delta not working but full load is working in 1CL_OBI_001?

  • ShipMent and Delivery Extractor

    Can somebody explain the differences between shipment extractors and Delivery Extractors (SD). when exactly we use shipment and when 2lis_12_vchdr or itm. If anybody has document on shipment please mail it
    <b>[email protected]</b>
    Regards
    Kunal

    Hi Kunal,
    all these extraxt structures/ datasources are event driven Delivery extractor are purely based on even VC i.e. creating, changing or deleting deliveries.
    while shipment ones are also influenced by VA & few others, mailing you a document on SD extarction, see if that helps.
    regards

  • Standard and Specfic extractor

    what are the advantages and disadvantages of standard and specific extractor?

    Capri,
    I suggest you tou use standard datasources to get that information. Its a very complex tables scheme to get that data.
    I think there are not disadvantages in using standard.
    Check this links:
    http://help.sap.com/bp_biv170/html/BW/I08_EN_DE.htm

    To make a report of sales orders and purchasing information you don't need to get all the information in one datasource. You can create two cubes and then use a multiprovider to get the information combined.
    Hope this helps.

    Diego

  • Enhance the IVBSAK and IVBSIK extractors

    Hi Mats
    We have requirement to consider financial structure (GL accounts(transactions), only specific GL account range should be part of spend , we had decided to enhance the IVBSAK and IVBSIK  extractors AND also we have the logic in place.
    If we place the code in field level special coding, that will not help to delete the GL account transactions that are not required? And the Global declaration is only to declaration, if we place code in subroutine we do not have idea how  that works?
    can some one guide us to place Logic in the extractor?
    Regards,
    Mahesh

    Hi Mahesh,
    You can place your logic in the special coding and when you donu2019t want the record to be extracted set the flag gv_assign as u2018 u2018. If this flag is set to u2018 u2018 that record is not added to the extracted records.
    Hope this clarifies.
    Best Regards,

  • Lis and lo extraction doubt

    hai to every body,
    i have an doubt on lis and lo extraction
    In lis extraction we have an information structure(IS).before extraction we all delete the contents of IS.Then by scheduling the v1 or v2 job we update data from database tables to IS by running statistical setup.
    but in los we have an setup tables.before extractiopn we all delete data from setup tables.then by running statistical setup we fill the setup tables with dtatbse data.
    which job(v1 or v2) scheduling between databse tables and setup tables

    Hi uday,
    To tell you, we wont delete the content of Information Structure in LIS, Because, in LIS, whenever,a user do a transaction, that record will automatically updated in the Information structure.
    Where as, if you consider LO, whenever, a user generates a transaction, that records wont be updated in the setup tables, they are directly moved to delta tables(like RSA7 etc).  Only when you do statistical setup, this setup tables are updated, later on these tables are not updated, unlike LIS.
    Only for this, we wont delete the information structure everytime,where as LO we delete the setup tables whenever we do init.
    Thanks
    Vijay
