  • What are the versions of BW and what is the difference between them

what are the versions of BW and what is the difference between them

    Hi Reddy,
    SAP BIW 2.0a, 2.0b
                   3.0a, 3.b
                   3.1c
3.5  and Now BI 7 are some of the versions.
Major difference between BW3.5 and BI 7.0 versions:
    1. In Info sets now you can include Infocubes as well.
    2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
    3. The BI accelerator (for now only for Infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accelerator is a separate box and would cost more.
    4. The monitoring has been improved with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal.
    5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
    6. Transformations are in and routines are passé! Yes, you can always revert to the old Tcodes.
    7. The *Data Warehousing Workbench *replaces the Administrator Workbench.
    8. Functional enhancements have been made for the Data Store object:
New type of Data Store object, Enhanced settings for performance optimization of Data Store objects.
    9. The transformation replaces the transfer and update rules.
    10. New authorization objects have been added
11.*Remodeling *of Info Providers supports you in Information Lifecycle Management.
12 the DataSource: There is a new object concept for the DataSource .
Options for direct access to data have been enhanced.
From BI, remote activation of Data Sources is possible in SAP source systems.
    13. There are functional changes to the Persistent Staging Area (PSA).
    14. BI supports real-time data acquisition.
    15. SAP BW is now known formally as BI (part of NetWeaver 2004s). It implements the Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW). The new features/ Major differences include:
    a) Renamed ODS as Data Store.
    b) Inclusion of Write-optimized Data Store which does not have any change log and the requests need no activation
    c) Unification of Transfer and Update rules
    d) Introduction of "end routine" and "Expert Routine"
    e) Push of XML data into BI system (into PSA) without Service API or Delta Queue
    f) Introduction of BI accelerator that significantly improves the performance.
    g) Load through PSA has become a must. Info Packages are used to load data upto PSA only.
You need to create DTP to update data from PSA to Data Target.

  • What are views in DDIC and plz mention the difference between them

    hi,
What are views in DDIC and plz mention the difference between the different type of views..
    1) maintainence view
    2)database view
    3)Projection view
    4)help view
P.S : Good answers will be rewarded with points.

    Hi,
The followings are different types of views:
    - Database View   (SE11)
Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set.
In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.
    - Help View    ( SE54)
Help views are used to output additional information when the online help system is called.
When the F4 button is pressed for a screen field, a check is first made on whether a matchcode is defined for this field. If this is not the case, the help view is displayed in which the check table of the field is the primary table. Thus, for each table no more than one help view can be created, that is, a table can only be primary table in at most one help view.
    - Projection View
Projection views are used to suppress or mask certain fields in a table (projection), thus minimizing the number of interfaces. This means that only the data that is actually required is exchanged when the database is accessed.
A projection view can draw upon only one table. Selection conditions cannot be specified for projection views.
    - Maintenance View   ( SE54 )
Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system

  • Do I need Java 8 or should i disable it? What happens if i disable it? And what is the difference between Java and Java Runtime?

Do I need Java 8 or should I disable it? What happens if i disable it? And what is the difference between Java and Java Runtime?

There's no difference. They're both runtime plug-ins (they run when an app calls for Java functions).
You only need Java if you either have Java apps on your Mac that won't run without having it installed, or you use trusted web sites that require Java to function (getting fewer and far between). Otherwise, you have no need for it at all.

  • Query: how to use structure and selection and what's the difference between

Query: how to use structure and selection and what's the difference between these two?
Would be appreciated if some experts here give examples to demenstrate on how to use structure and selection in query and what's the difference between these two?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Kevin,
    1. Well by default all the KF that you include in your query go into a Key Figure Structure. You can additionally have another structure for defining how your chars are laid out. A common example is a Calmonth structure where you have selections for 12 months, quarers and YTD values. This would be a char structure with different selections (for each month, qtr etc)
    2. Yes, a selection with a KF is the same as restricting a KF. You can use am RKF is you have one on the left hand side, or if you need to do this locally in the query, right click the structure and choose New Selection, then proceed to choose your KF and reqd char values.
    Hope this helps...

  • Why would i connect a external hardrive to the airport extreme and what is the difference between LAN and WAN gigabit ethernet?

Hey just wanted to know what is the reason i would connect my external hardrive to the extreme and what is the difference between LAN and WAN ehternet. I know one is local and other is wide but can someone explain in simpler terms.

Connecting a hard drive to the Airport Extreme makes it available to be shared across all the computers on your network.
WAN (Wide Area Network) is your connection to the internet
LAN (Local Area Network) is your internal (or local) ethernet connections (computers, printers, etc...)

  • When to use Infotype 0014 & 0015? what is the differences between them?

When to use Infotype 0014 & 0015? what is the differences between them?

    Hello
Infotype 14 is used for recuring payment and deductions
The wagetype to be used for IT0014 is maintained in VV_52D7_B_0014_AL0 ,against the country grouping.
IT0014 is always entered with a start date and end date along with the wagetype and amount /unit relevent for payment/deduction
Say you want to make a special allowance payment to some employee for a period of 6 months only.
So in IT0014,you will enter the wagetype that is maintained for special allowance  with a start date of say 01.10.2011 to 31.03.2012 with amont as Rs.1000.
So when you run payroll for the period october 2011 until march 2012,this amount of Rs.1000 will be paid to the employee
Infotype 15 is used for one time payment or deductions.
The wagetype to be used for IT0015 is maintained in VV_52D7_B_0015_AL0,against the country grouping
IT0015 is always entered with an effective date along with the wagetype and amount/unit relevent for payment deduction.
You want to make performance award pay to employees in the month of march 2012.
You will enter the amount in IT0015 with the effective date as 31.03.2012 for the wagetype as maintained for performance award ,amount say rs.50000.This amount will be caluclated and paid to the employee as a one time payment in march 2012 payroll

  • Difference between char and varchar, also the difference between varchar2

    Hi,
Can anyone explain me the difference between char and varchar, and also the difference between varchar and varchar2...

Varchar2 is variable width character data type, so if you define column with width 20 and insert only one character to tis column only, one character will be stored in database. Char is not variable width so when you define column with width 20 and insert one character to this column it will be right padded with 19 spaces to desired length, so you will store 20 characters in the dattabase (follow the example 1). Varchar data type from Oracle 9i is automaticlly promoted to varchar2 (follow example 2)
    Example 1:
    SQL> create table tchar(text1 char(10), text2 varchar2(10))
    2 /
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into tchar values('krystian','krystian')
    2 /
    1 row created.
    SQL> select text1, length(text1), text2, length(text2)
    2 from tchar
    3 /
    TEXT1 LENGTH(TEXT1) TEXT2 LENGTH(TEXT2)
    krystian 10 krystian 8
    Example 2:
    create table tvarchar(text varchar(10))
    SQL> select table_name,column_name,data_type
    2 from user_tab_columns
    3 where table_name = 'TVARCHAR'
    4 /
    TABLE_NAME COLUMN_NAME DATA_TYPE
    TVARCHAR TEXT VARCHAR2

  • AP Credit Memo and Good return, creates differences between TB and Stock Audit Report

    Hello Experts,
Did any one has ever faced an issue, whereby AP Credit Memo and Good Return creates discrepancy between journal entry and the stock audit report?
    Here is the scenario:
    AP Credit Memo
    Description
    Quantity
    Unit Price
    Total
    Item A
                    30
                3,400
       102,000
    Journal Entry :
    Debit
    Business Partner
         105,000
            Credit
                          Stock
         105,000
    Inventory Audit Report
    Description
    Quantity
    Cost
    Transaction Amount
    Item A
                            30
                         3,500
                                                    105,000
    Journal Entry :
    Debit
    Business Partner
         105,000
            Credit
                          Stock
            105,000
The difference is actually due to the moving average, but the strange part is why the difference is not posted in the journal entry, in the Price different account?
This makes the stock account amount to be different from the Trial Balance and the Stock Audit Report.
And this is applied also on the Good Return transaction.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Cedric Kayitare

    Hi Cedric,
Price & Item cost are different.
while making goods return , Direct AP Credit Note, Sales Delivery, Direct AR Invoice, stock is going outside.
In these transactions Journal entry will happen for Item cost and not Item sales or Purchase price.
Please enable item cost field in line level and check whether above formulae is matching with Item, cost field.
Then what is the importance of price in these documents??
Price is the agreed selling or purchase price for trading with Customer and supplier.
    In your example
You are returning back material worth 105000(as per moving average price), but supplier is supposed to give only you 102,000.
    Hope you understand
    Thanks
    Unnikrishnan

  • Carbon & Cocoa- and the difference between them

As a year old Mac user (meaning, I've been using the Mac for a year, I personally am not a year old) one thing has always had me a bit miffed
What's the difference between Cocoa and Carbon?
My understanding is that is has something to do with the appearance of an app- and how it was created.
Just a little curious, that's all!

  • Types of buffering and difference between them

    hi experts,
    Types of bufferings and difference.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Buffering
The major difference between the context buffer and the normal database and table buffers is that it is only refreshed at given intervals. There is no attempt to update it synchronously, or even nearly synchronously. This means that it is not appropriate to use it for every context or context module.
    Buffering Types
Permanent (P): This is the default setting. In this case, the data is kept on each application server beyond the end of the transaction in which it is used. The buffer is reset every hour on the hour (8:00, 9:00...). You can reset the buffer manually in the Context Builder.
Temporary (T): Data is only buffered for the duration of the current transaction.
    No buffering (N)
    Buffer Size
You can set the maximum number of entries to be buffered. The default is 128. This number only applies to the permanent buffer for a single module. Within a transaction, all of the data that occurs is stored in the buffer unless you have switched off buffering for the module. It is usually best to leave the maximum buffer size set to 128. It is not often that a large number of key combinations occur within one hour on a single application server. Even if this does occur, you can expect combiniations from the first 128 entries to be repeated. The system resets the buffer after one hour, which should ensure that no one module monpolizes it.
    Buffering Types
An I buffer is a table that assigns derived values to the input fields of the module. It
Only contains one entry with key values.
An E buffer is a table that assigns the derived values of the module tot he key fields of the context, It
contains more than one entry with key values.
can be a join of all I buffers for the modules buffered
    Performance
The E buffer gives the fastest access, since it can find the values requested in the DEMAND statement in a single step. Under certain circumstances, it can return a smaller number of hits than the I buffer.

  • HELP! There are so many softwares and I dont know the difference between them :(

I bought my mac less than one month ago and it says it has the software OS X (with a logo of an apple). Now can someone please tell me in detail whats the difference between Mavericks and all other confusing softwares?! I still dont have pages

    They all are OS X.
OS X is the name of the operating system I've been using since 2001.
Each new version gets a new name and a higher number.
First version was 10.0 (Chettah) and it cost $129. 10.1 was free but 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 cost the same.
10.6 (Snow Leopard) was the last version to ship in a DVD. It cost $29 as did 10.7 and 10.8 which were digital downloads.
10.9 (Mavericks) is a free download and is installed on all new machine purchases.
Apple has always included the iLife apps with each machine purchase. With the introduction of 10.9 the iWorks suite (Pages, Numbers and Keynote) are also included with a new machine purchase at no charge.
Look in the HD / Applications folder for your iWork and iLife apps. You shouldn't have to download anything but updates.

  • What the difference between them?

I want to know the difference between Adobe Photoshop CS4 Classroom in a Book's content and Photoshop CS4 help(pdf file) content.
    Thanks for your help~

The Classroom in a Book is great for learning your way around.  You get a cd with the book that has the bits and pieces needed for each lesson.  Each lesson takes you through a particular project from beginning to end.  The book provides step by step instructions on what you are doing, why you are doing it and has screen prints showing you where to find the tools and how to enter the settings to get the effect you need.  I like this so much better than some of the video tutorials because you can go at your speed and it is easier to flip a page back and forth than to backtrack on a video tutorial.  It is more in depth - like being in a classroom with a teacher.
