List alignment issues in Firefox

After composing a webhelp project with primary and secondary
(supporting) steps portrayed, Firefox doesn't play nice with the
indentations that keep the information grouped visually.
In IE, it looks like this.
1. Do this
(.25 inch indent) a. Do this
(.25 inch indent) b. then do this
(.25 inch indent) c. save
2. Then do this, etc.
In Firefox:
1. do this
a. do this
b. then do this
c. save
2. Then do this...
I had read the browser issues portion of the grainge.org
troubleshooting site for working with ordered and unordered lists.
Am I able to attain this level of indentation by editing the
_ns.css stylesheet, or do I just accept this as a limitation for
Firefox?

I think you've over-styled yourself into a corner, here.
We've found that no styles works best.
1. Make a copy of your project and find a default.css from
the RoboHelp Office > RoboHTML folder (under Program Files).
2. Assign the .css file to a few topics with these nested
lists. In the topics, remove all styling in the lists (down to
Normal paragraphs, no indents, etc.).
3. Select all list items from a former nested list and click
the RH
Create a Numbered List toolbar button.
4. Select the sub-list items, click the
Increase Indent toolbar button, and adjust the numbering to
a,b,c. (To automate this part of the process, you could add a "OL
OL" style for only the a,b,c format [no indents, etc.]).
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all other nested lists in the
topics to which you assigned the default.css file.
We've found this method the most pain-free way to achieve
consistency in online and print output. Give it a try. Or...you
could step1/step2 yourself all the way into therapy.
Good luck,
Leon

  • Table alignment issues in firefox

    Hi all,
    I've just finished designing a site for my business and after uploading it to the net I've been told by a friend that the main table cells on my index page aren't aligning properly.
    The original page which can be found at http://www.darksun.net.au works fine in Safari and more or less fine in Explorer (with a strange white bar to the side), but the alignment is all out in Firefox.
    I have tried aligning everything in the table I could find to align and it has helped but not fixed the issue.  This attempt can be found at http://www.darksun.net.au/indextesting.html
    Any suggestions?  I'm not a pro or anything, so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks heaps,
    Jon

    I've worked out another option with a friend of mine so the www.darksun.com.au address is now no longer the problem page.
    Just click on the http://www.darksun.net.au/indextesting.html link to see an example of what I'm trying to solve.

  • Issues with Firefox hogging resources...

    I have several issues with Firefox intermittently consuming 99-100% of my CPU memory. Now, let me preface this by saying that I am NOT an advanced user, and can only tell you what I see on things like the Task Manager and such. Furthermore, I know that you guys know about some of this stuff - at least, I am pretty sure you do - but I am nowhere near comfortable enough to mess with any command line... stuff... in Firefox. I just am not knowledgeable enough about the program, and I don't want to 'break' it (lol). Anyway, down to business. Here are the issues I am having:
    1. Upon startup, Firfox takes between 30 seconds and a minute and a half to load 5 tabs. When I first downloaded and installed it, these same tabs took less than 10 seconds to load. I have tried clearing my cache and history but nothing seems to help. If it matters, I have been using Firefox for going on 5 years now.
    2. Once the program has loaded, '''any''' keyboard shortcuts I use in it (ctrl+a, ctrl+c or v, alt=tab, etc) cause the CPU memory usage of Firefox to spike to 99 or 100 percent. In affect, it freezes my computer for anywhere between 2 and 30 seconds, roughly. It does this usually, but not always, and I frequent all the same sites, so the page I am on does not seem to matter.
    3. I have noticed that some of the addons I use with Firefox, mainly Multi Links, lag as well when the above issue is occurring. Not sure if the two are connected in any way (also not sure why that feature is not ''built into Firefox to begin with'') and would have checked this but I will not risk not being able to get back here again. See below.
    4. This is unrelated, but I felt it merited some small mention. This is effectively my SIXTH attempt at posting my query. The first time, I created an account and it forwarded me to some page basically saying 'Yup, you're logged in alright.' Then it KEPT doing that every time I tried to flesh out and ask my question, until I navigated COMPLETELY away from the page ''four times'' and attempted this one last time. Very frustrating. I even tried going to Live Chat for help, but somehow got off the chat window page and then suddenly chat was closed... right. Anyway, point being, it was difficult to get this posted and it has me even more annoyed. >.<
    I have always loved Firefox because it was faster and more reliable than IE. But here recently... it just seems to be going downhill. For instance, I have seen others ask questions about what's going on with the plugin container and that stupid flash plugin - I happen to have that issue rather severely, to the point that I must leave Flash off entirely until I ''have to'' turn it back on (which is wearing down my last nerve, I might add, since I use sites that require that particular plugin daily), and while I did see a couple rather nice solutions about editing/tweaking internal Firefox settings, I must profess that I am nowhere near competent or comfortable enough to even think about attempting them. Furthermore, I do not believe I should be required to make such changes in order to get the program to function properly and risk ruining it completely so that I have to uninstall and reinstall just so I have Firefox. This is all rather exasperating, and judging from the replies I saw on those topics, I do not expect much help here (a couple of people were rather rude on one of those topics, I am afraid I am a minority here, not knowing my way around program language and all =( ). My main goal is to make you aware, if you are not already, that issues exist and if you have tried anything on your end to rectify them, it has not worked for some. I am at my wit's end here, I do not know what else to do to try to solve these issues other than clear cache and history, restart Firefox, so on and so forth. *sigh* I'm seriously thinking about going back to IE, and you have no idea how much that really ticks me off; I think, out of all of this, even all my wasted time, that's what upsets me the most.

    Issues of this sort are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like them to be. However, they tend not to be cause by Firefox itself, but rather by software that is running either inside or alongside it, such as add-ons or firewalls. Since these issues have a broad span of possible causes, you need to diagnose your problems before fixing them. Follow these instructions ''to the line'', as they'll probably help you diagnose and fix the problems you're having.
    #run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe-mode] to disable all extensions, themes and plugins. If this fixes your problem, be it with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with add-ons (plugins, themes or extensions). Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix your problem, then read bellow, after this list;
    #update all extensions (go into ''Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > Find Updates''), themes and plugins (see [https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ this page] in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #disable all extensions, themes and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). This is temporary and for diagnostic purposes only. Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you actually want that plugin to be enabled. It's best to keep the overall number of enabled plugins as low as possible. When you encounter problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all. If you need support for a problematic plugin, you need to contact its author for support;
    #enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you actually want that extension to be enabled. As with plguins, it's best to keep the overall number of enabled extensions as low as possible. Also, try the theme you want to have installed so see if that is what's causing the problem. When you encounter problems, you know you've found a problematic extension/theme, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all. Just the same as with plugins, if you need support for a problematic extension/plugin, you need to contact its author;
    #if you've followed my instructions above, you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons. If you want to keep using those problematic add-ons, please contant their authors for support.
    Ok, now... ''If'' disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to fix your problems (or, in other words, if you've just read number 1 on the list above and come straight here), then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Detecting which program it is may be tricky, but the following list should help you. Make sure you follow it carefully. Don't forget to answer the question on the last point, if nothing else helps.
    #try reinstalling Firefox. No data will be lost. You can get the latest version (for free, as always) at [http://www.getfirefox.com/ getfirefox.com]. Make sure you [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox uninstall Firefox] prior to reinstalling it. For help installing Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing+Firefox this support article]. If that doesn't fix the problem, proceed;
    #do a virus/malware check on your computer. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Is+my+Firefox+problem+a+result+of+malware?s=malware&as=s this support article] for help on this point. ''This is a very important step'', so please pay attention to it. If your problem is not due to viruses/malware, proceed;
    #disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in Windows operating systems, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing ''msconfig'' and pressing Enter; now, under the ''Startup'' tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect; if you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix your issues with Firefox, proceed;
    #check if your firewall/antivirus/security suite is conflicting in any way with Firefox's normal behavior. Check for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be causing problems with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable them temporarily to see whether or not that's true. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem, it's remotely possible. If this doesn't work, proceed to the following point;
    #update your modem/router software. There have been some reports that some modem/router software may cause Firefox and other browsers to loose performance and/or stability. If updating doesn't fix your issue, try other versions of the software, if possible. If you need support with this, contact your modem/router manufacturer. If this doesn't help, proceed;
    #if you are using a Windows operating system, clean up your OS registry using appropriate software. There have been reports that badly maintained Windows Registries may case problems with Firefox. If this doesn't help, see the following point;
    #please try creating a new temporary Firefox profile ([http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles managing profiles]) and see if the issues persist. Please report the results, so we can help you further.

  • OBIEE 11g Calendar alignment issue

    Facts: OBIEE 11g - 11.1.5 on Windows 2003 server.
    There's an alignment issue going on with OBIEE calendar, wich happens only when the month is october. For all other months, the calendar is displayed properly. It does not depend on the year. You may change the year and select October, you'll get the error.
    You might see what happens on the link below.
    http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7876/firefoxds.jpg
    This behavior may occur when using IE9 (both using compatibility mode or not), Mozila Firefox and Google Chrome.
    I've looked over Metalink and the forums and could not find any information about this error.
    Any tips?!
    Thanks!

  • Sudden Display issues in Firefox from Dreamweaver-built pages

    Hi, first time posting and a novice at Dreamweaver and web design so please bare with me.
    I'm an IT administrator for a small charity company and they decided to ask me to build them a website, I bought Dreamweaver in University and had a small try with it but never really used it since.
    Now I'm no web designer but I'm trying the best I can, I managed to make a few preliminary pages for use and found they displayed correctly in most browsers apart from IE and Opera.
    But Suddenly today - after no editing or alterations since friday (and it displayed fine yesterday on tuesday), it started experiencing the same issues in Firefox this morning for no apparent reason. I assumed that it would be a problem with Firefox but when trying to sign up to Firefox help I meet an "Access Denied" page after clicking to sign up. Now I know there's no point in searching their forums for that issue because of course, how can someone complain they have the problem when the fact they can't get on the forums to post is what's preventing the post in the first place?
    I googled both of those issues and turned up nothing, which led me here.
    The "Access Denied" at signup issue is obviously not what I'm seeking for here though, but would like to know if anyone else has experienced the issue with the formatting suddenly displaying incorrectly in browsers when they worked fine before?
    Like I said, I'm a complete novice at web design and dreamweaver so feel free to tell me the coding in the website is pants, I know it is but it does (did!) the job in most browsers.
    Any help at all would be appreciated.

    PS. For an ironic laugh - note the "This website is best displayed in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome" at the bottom of the page

    My advice, although negative, would be to stay clear unless you are confident and capable of using html and css. Dreamweaver won't do the job for you and you will be biting off more than you can chew.
    Having said that I've made the necessary changes so that your page will work in all browers. Just copy the whole html code and css below, paste into a new Dreamweaver document and save to your site root folder.
    Do not mix measurements i.e., width 43em, padding 15px etc. I would advise staying with px based measurements as measurements are critical to if the site works or not. I don't know what 43em + 15px makes but I do know what 170px + 15px makes. I have changed the width of the containers in your code to px.

    /* Tips for Elastic layouts
    1. Since the elastic layouts overall sizing is based on the user's default fonts size, they are more unpredictable. Used correctly, they are also more accessible for those that need larger fonts size since the line length remains proportionate.
    2. Sizing of divs in this layout are based on the 100% font size in the body element. If you decrease the text size overall by using a font-size: 80% on the body element or the #container, remember that the entire layout will downsize proportionately. You may want to increase the widths of the various divs to compensate for this.
    3. If font sizing is changed in differing amounts on each div instead of on the overall design (ie: #sidebar1 is given a 70% font size and #mainContent is given an 85% font size), this will proportionately change each of the divs overall size. You may want to adjust based on your final font sizing.

  • Alignment Issues between dreamweaver and browser

    Hi
    Hoping someone can help, i'm trying to learn how to make
    better sites with advanced tools like apDIV's but seem to be
    running into an alignment issue. When I make the html file in
    dreamweaver I seem to have to off set the images and div tags
    inorder for the site to show up aligned properly in firefox,
    explorer, etc. I'm thinking there might be a problem in the actual
    code causing this but am not good enough yet to find it or the
    problem, any ideas or guidence would be greatly accepted. below if
    the links work is the difference I see between dreamweaver and when
    its launched in a browser.
    DreamweaverScreen
    BrowserScreen

    > over a centered frame
    You are not using frames - that's a table.
    Yes - there's a way to do this, but it will involve your
    working in code.
    Make your page left aligned by removing any centering.
    Then position your layer so that it is properly located over
    the table.
    Change this -
    </head>
    to this -
    <style type="text/css">
    #wrapper { width:760px; margin:0 auto;position:relative; }
    /* 760px will display on an 800px screen maximized browser
    window without */
    /* horizontal scrollbars. */
    </style>
    </head>
    (you may need to adjust this width so that it's consistent
    with the width of
    your centering table)
    change this -
    <body ...>
    (the ellipsis represents any other attributes that might be
    mentioned in the
    body tag, and SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED EXPLICITLY!)
    to this -
    <body ...>
    <div id="wrapper">
    and this -
    </body>
    to this -
    <!-- /wrapper -->
    </div>
    </body>
    and see if that helps.

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to right align text in the report header.
    We are using REUSE ALV GRID DISPLAY, but using TOP-OF-PAGE event - the whole text is left aligned.
    I tried using Class CL_DD_DOCUMENT which solved the alignment issue, but I am not able to see the header while printing/downloading to excel.
    I want the header to be available while downloading/printing the list. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Harveen.

    Hi
    The ALV download only the grid into the file, so not the data you're writing in TOP_OF_PAGE event.
    If you need to do that, you should create an your own buttom to download the file.

    I am working on BIRT reports. I am facing toggle issue with Firefox 4.0. The code is working fine in Firefox 3.x. Please find the code below. the javascript method itself not calling. Please help me as early as possible.

  • Flash audio issue with Firefox

    I came across an issue in firefox relating to adobe Flash. I'm also adressing the issue with adobe as it might be related to action script in the SWF. However if that were the case I don't quite understand why it's limited to Firefox.
    The problem is as follows. Using a simple mp3 player to play news highlights i came across an issue where that if other tabs or windows were open where flash audio played (like a youtube video) the audio in all these tabs/windows would cease as soon as the simple mp3 player was loaded or the stop button was pressed. This proved to be a problem among many of our customers who listen to online radio via our players (in a popup window/tab/seperate window) and browse on our site where this mp3 player is loaded. I provided a test environment where you can find the player.
    http://www.classicfm.nl/audiotest/
    Test by having flash audio playing and open the above link in another tab or window. As the player loads it stops all audio.
    Kind regards
    Dwayne

    I've been looking everywhere, google, adobe forum and one thing strike me... all, or almost all post about that in adobe forum have been ignored... Why ?
    On google i found a lot of people saying it is impossible and some saying it is, that they managed to fix theirs, but it is still not working for me. I followed and tryed a lot of method that seem to work for them, but it isnt working for me.
    Adding this
            <embed src="Video/Menu.swf" quality="high" width="2000" height="950" name="Menu" align="middle" allowFullScreen="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" wmode="transparent"/>
    Is not helping much.
    Please it is critical for me that my flash allow the click through on Chrome and Firefox because my flash cover the whole screen as you see, 2000x950 and depending what you do in my website, it will fill the screen or not, and i still have html link that need to be clicked that are not inside the flash itself, thus why i need the click through.
    Thanks

  • I am having some serious issues with firefox, i can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and I can't use any of the drop down menus on any site

    I am having some serious issues with firefox to the point of choosing another search engine. I can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and won't let me change it to my printer when i do try to select my printer it jumps right back to fax. The drop down menus do not work on any of the sites I go to. For example when purchasing clothes and you have to choose a size from a drop down menu I can't do it when I click on the drop down menu it doesn't work at all. I don't have a virus I ran my virus protector and no viruses are present. I don't have any suspicious issues going on with my computer so there has to be something in Firefox that is causing my issues. I tried internet explorer and I don't have any issues there. I hope you can help me because I love Firefox and would really like to continue to use it.

    Lots of issues there, main one getting fcpx going again, try deleting the preferences using the utility deveoped by these guys.

  • I re-installed XP and kept the old program files on another drive, how can I transfer my bookmarks list to the new Firefox ?

    I re-installed XP and kept the old program files on another drive, how can I transfer my bookmarks list to the new Firefox ?
    I tried shifting the Profile folder contents from the old to the new, that seemed to work but I kept getting a message that my security was affected and that the problem could be in that folder so I shifted it back.

    Hello Kencrews,
    When you connect the iPod to the computer and iTunes is authorized for your Apple ID, then you will get a prompt to transfer the purchases from the device to the computer. Keep in mind this will only transfer purchased items from the iTunes Store.
    Here is a helpful article to assist getting that done.

  • List of issues with DM6.0

    Here's my list of issues with Desktop Manager 6 that I would like to see addressed.
    1) No minimize to system tray. This isn't a huge deal but I'd like to see it return.
    2) Halt incoming e-mail to device when connected. This needs to come back. I don't need my Blackberry buzzing on my desk every two minutes when I'm sitting in front of my e-mail client.
    3) Folder sync selection. My mail server has rules that automatically sort incoming e-mails into different folders. I'm pretty sure practically everybody in an enterprise e-mail environment does this. In previous versions of DM, there was an option to choose which folders to sync. This is now gone, although I believe because these settings end up stored on the BES server my settings have remained for now. Moving forward, I can't change any of them without talking to our BES administrator.
    4) Automatic backup is broken. I've set DM to automatically backup my device "Weekly" when it is connected. What actually happens is every time I connect my blackberry it gets backed up - this can happen multiple times in one day. Pretty useless.
    5) Mass storage mode settings on blackberry are bypassed. I have my bb set to prompt whether I want to enable mass storage mode when I connect it. Now, when I connect my bb it immediately enters mass storage mode without a prompt on the device or on the desktop. I have this configured because if you use any kind of custom ringtone, even if it is stored on the internal memory and not on the media card, as soon as mass storage mode is enabled the bb cannot access the files internally and ringtones default back to a standard generic one. I can no longer wander away from my desk and hear my phone ringing and identify that it is my phone.
    That's my current (growing) list of issues. I will update with more, if anyone wants to confirm these issues or add others I will add to the list as well.

    you need to add media administration is non existent without Roxio Media Manager.  You can no longer pick and choose which files to exchange. Synching is the only option.
    Also, if media files are encrypted, DM 6 cannot read them. This was dealt with in Roxio Manager by simply inputing the encryption password...

  • E72 - List of issues...!!!!

    E72 - List of issues...!!!!
     I’m really disappointed in nokia..!! L I’m a nokia user for the last 12 years; I purchased and used more then 22 different models .. Never changed to any other phones. and was always proud of using it…will not any more.
     In addition of to the bad built material and being really slow ‘Nokia can’t build a better processors..!!!’ I couldn’t use neither chat or email.
    Email is not working at all; I added two emails one ovi and one hotmail… I can’t remove them…!!! I tried every thing even Nokia configuration tool.
    Configuring the chat open new window and then do nothing.
    I was late for work for two days because of this phone..!!! I setup multiple alarm, it alarmed once then the phone hanged and started flashing…!!! When I woke up two hours later I had to restart the phone; and then it started running the alarms..????
    Space stop functioning many time….
    PC suite lose connection to the phone after performing any function “USB connection”.
     Nokia configuration tool do not import any thing it just hangs for 10-20 minutes and then lose connection (Import synchronization status was DM_UNKNOWN in syncID 1).
    The USB charging feature is nice, but it shouldn’t alert me always about the better being full…????
    Iv done a restore factory setting  (hoping that the configured email will be removed).. nothing was removed neither the contact images or emails…
    The phone in general is really..really slow…!!!
    Other issues that I cant’ remember…!!!????
     In addition to all of that I can’t take the phone back even for replacement ‘I’m from qatar’ and the agent’s are really bad. For sure this is my last nokia unless the issue was fixed in 2 weeks.

    The biggest problem about this phone is about the high pitch sounds.
    When the screen and the keyboard light up, some high pitch sound is emitted. For most of people, that's not annoying, but for some, it gives headaches. Two persons sayd that they hear that sound.
    Personally, i can't use it, so for this matter, i need to sell it. In Romania Vodafone is not accepting your phone back even in 12 hours.
    I tryed different phones from Nokia, the last ones have the same issues. N97 and N97 mini are terrible. It's impossible to use those phones.
    For this reason, Nokia you receive a small grade, it's unacceptable to cut back prices just for bigger earnings.

    I'm one of the people that traditionally doesn't experience too many issues with Logic that affect me. However, 8.0.0 and 8.0.1 have many issues that directly affect me, including many MCU handling bugs, screenset handling bugs and quite a few others besides.
    Maybe, like with Logic 7, we'll get to a paid update for 8.1 that finally becomes workable... until then, well, hang on to the sides, it may well get bumpy..!

  • List of issues with patch level

    Is there a list of application errors reported for each patch level?
    When working with SAP R/3, there is a SAP note released for each patch level which states the changes delivered in that patch as well as what fixes are delivered. Therefore, it is easy to see what application errors exist in each patch level. Is there something similar for SAP Business One?

    There are also notes for those Lists of issues with each patch level for B1.  What is your B1 version and PL?
    Thanks,
