List Folder does not find WIndows shortcut files

Hello,
Why doesn't the "List Folder" vi find the Windows shorcut files? The WIndows short files have a extension of "*.lnk",  I am using Labview 2011 SP1 on a WIndows XP Pro machine, the shorcut files are on a mapped network drive.  I can find the shortcut files if a open a cmd window and use the dir command.

Kaspar

It seems to work for me as well.  As Mike said, the shortcuts to folders showed up in the folders list.
Here are some other thoughts:
Are you using the pattern filter at all?
Are you using the Recursive File List?

  • Problems with Gummiboot (does not find Windows)

    Hello All,
Today I'm in Spain installing Arch to my parents. Unfortunately I'm not able to make Gummiboot to find Windows 8...
For sure it's my fault and I made something wrong...
Can someone help me with this please? I will leave tomorrow morning but I still have access remotely to the computer).
    [angarrub@myArchEsp ~]$ lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
    sda 8:0 0 465,8G 0 disk
    ├─sda1 8:1 0 350M 0 part /run/media/angarrub/Reservado para el sistema
    ├─sda2 8:2 0 230,4G 0 part /run/media/angarrub/Nuevo
    ├─sda3 8:3 0 1G 0 part /boot
    ├─sda4 8:4 0 50G 0 part /
    ├─sda5 8:5 0 175G 0 part /home
    └─sda6 8:6 0 9G 0 part [SWAP]
I'm quite sure that the problem is that I created another EFI partition (for not touching anything from Windows installation) and installed Gummiboot there. I would like to know what to do to create the entry for Windows and boot normally from /dev/sda1.
Please, do not hesitate to ask me whatever you need meto fix this.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Windows MBR
    bcdedit /create /d “Linux” /application BOOTSECTOR
    bcdedit /set {ID} device partition=c:
    bcdedit /set {ID} path \linux.bin
    bcdedit /displayorder {ID} /addlast
    bcdedit /timeout 30;
Keep in mind you'll have to set your Windows Device to Bootable not your Syslinux boot device.
    Syslinux
pacman -S syslinux # or pacstrap syslinux base base-devel /w installation
nano /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg # LABEL arch >> root=/dev/sda[X] X being your linux root device
    syslinux-install_update -i -a -m;
mkdir /mnt/sda[Y] # Y being your Windows HD Device
mount /dev/sda[Y] /mnt/sda[Y] # Y being your Windows HD Device
    dd if=/dev/sda[X] of=/mnt/sda[Y]/linux.bin bs=512 count=1 # X being your linux BOOT device && Y being your Windows HD Device
Writeout your linux boot partition to your Windows HD, again having your Windows MBR device as bootable in cfdisk not your linux boot device.
[X] and [Y] should translate to a number.
Of course this is backwards, using windows to boot linux.
    Hope that helps.
Ok, so if I understood everything ok... in that HD with both EFI partitions I should:
    uninstall grub/gummiboot
    install syslinux on /dev/sda1
configure two entries: one for arch /dev/sda3 and the second for Windows on /dev/sda1
    And should work?
And... one question... I was trying to mount the 350mb partition (windows one, /dev/sda1) but I couldn't find the efi files... maybe I was doing something wrong because the only things that looks like a boot files are inside windows/boot folder...
I can try to connect remotely and check it later if you need more information.
Thanks a lot, really, best community ever!

  • Can't install Windows 8 on rMBP, installer does not find Windows support drivers.

First I downloaded a W8 ISO, and used it with bootcamp and created a bootable USB drive. Followed all the steps, downloaded the support drivers and partitioned my HD. My system restarts after and boots windows 8 installer. On the screen were I am supposed to select the BOOTCAMP drive, it will not let me load up the Support Drivers, so I can't continue to install the OS. They are on the Drive and I can see them...
I've been trying for hours, searching the net and now I decided to ask the community..
    Thanks!

  • Boot camp does not find Windows XP installer disc

    Hi,
I am trying to install Windows XP on macbook pro. I have partitioned the hard drive and when I push "Start installation" boot camp says "The installer disc could not be found", though I see the icon on the desktop and can browse teh disc. I am logged in as an administrator and have an original Windows XP SP2 and earlier it worked fine on my laptop (I am reinstalling Windows)..
I tried several things suggested in forums (for example here
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1402467) and none helped..
    1) I restarted while holding Option key or C key - did not help
    2) I created an image of Windows XP installer and burnt a new disk - did not help
    3) I repartitioned the hard drive several times, I restarted several times - did not help
I am so frustrated with this bug in boot camp.. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!!

you still have not clarified if you used BCDedit or repair the MBR
Whether you used an NTFS driver - that may be all you need - try the full functional demo Paragon NTFS for OS X, it is great at mounting PC NTFS volumes and cases.
    http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/
There is no such thing as "boot camp" to detect Windows. Poor language. BCA partitions. Do you want to remove XP partition? that is the tool.
Boot Camp control panel in Windows that has a Startup Disk style feature.
But "boot camp" means zilch other than installing a set of drivers and the creatiion of a partition.
Of course Lion Recvovery only works with OS X, not XP. There is a hidden feature to show all partitions and their health but nothing more.
Backup everything and rebuild and restore.

  • Get an Error window, The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files

I am using CS2 and it would not open up my latest RAW files, I was getting a warning Could not complete your request because it is not the right kinds of document. So, I checked the Camera Raw Plug-in and it says Version 3.7. I see that my camera an Olympus E-20 is supported. But it is not opening the Raw files, the day before I took jpeg and they have opened. I will not trash my Adobe Photoshop CS2 because it was a royal pain to install and I don't know where the CD is.
I installed the latest DNG Converter and when I try to open up the folder which has all the RAW images that didn't open in Adobe, I still get an Error window that says, "The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files." Why? It says it supports my Olympus E-20. I actually have the E-20n, I don't think that is the problem. My RAW icons usually show up as small image thumbnails and this time they are gray icons only with the incorrect date under the icon. Is there another product I can use without spending money? These images I took in RAW were special and I don't want to lose them. Please help!
    Esther

Hello, I was using only CS2 with my Olympus E-20n for 5 years, no problem. It just started acting up in RAW this year. I downloaded Picasa that same day and now it seems to be opening up all of my RAW files that didn't open the other day. So, I think Picasa installed a new plug-in adaption to CS2 because now all my RAW icons have a new logo on them, the same one that's in Picasa. Strange, but it works now and I am not complaining anymore. I love CS2 and the many ways I can adjust RAW files, so I am using it, Picasa is a sideline now that I can take a look at many thumbnails and it organized all my photo files by the year and folders. Amazing free software. I have probably 60,000 images in my computer and an external hard drive and Picasa picked them all up and made a library, cool.

  • Windows 8.1, BootCamp does not find the ISO image.

When I try to install Windows 8.1, BootCamp does not find the ISO image.
I purchased Windows 8.1 Pro, I downloaded the .exe requested file from a Windows computer, performed the steps recommended by Microsoft in order to create the ISO file saving it on a flash drive as well and, as a precaution, on a DVD too.
I performed the "Download the latest Windows Support Software from Apple" step directly into another flash drive and having it completed BootCamp displays the following message:
"The installer disc could not be found  –  Insert the Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized. "
So happens that I have tried this using the DVD, pendrive and also copying the ISO file to the desktop and to the "Documents" folder as recommended in certain websites, but none of this has made the process go ahead. What can I do?
My equipment is a mid 2011 iMac running Mac OSX 10.10.1.

    Dear Loner T,
thanks to my coworker, the solution was unpacking from that ISO file which I had recorded (according to the steps indicated by Microsoft), but now using Nero software (Windows) and then recording by the most common way in a new DVD. See the screen of the first DVD before unpacking:
This true saga only demonstrated that the generated ISO file as an option at the time of the Windows installation, is not for direct installation through BootCamp, and as a I could check, even for direct installation on a Windows PC. See the last DVD burned using Nero and  again recorded:
The execution of BootCamp, was perfect
Thank you for attention to my problem!

  • Finder does not open when a file passes over (mac os X 10.8.3)

Just installed mac os 10.8.3 mountain lion. As such, it seems with this OS X version the "finder" does not open when a file passes over (in order to move it from desktop).
The screen dims a little and nothing else happens.
How can I recover the "finder" functionality that apparently doesn not exist anymore?
Is it something wrong that I am doing?
    Regards

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Finder search does not find all files

    Hi,
I am doing a search in Finder and files missing from the results.
I am searching for "silverlight" in "This Mac" in the "File Name". The results give me one file "Silverlight.plugin" in the following folder "Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins".
However there is also another folder in "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Microsoft" with name "Silverlight".
Also there is another folder in "Macintosh HD/Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Application Support/Microsoft" with name "Silverlight".
Why finder does not find in search these files/folders? Any idea?
    Thanks

this happens because system files are not included in default finder searches. I'm not sure why it even found the first file. you may have started the search from inside the main library folder somewhere.
anyway, to include system files in a search do the following
in finder enter command+f to start a finder search. click on "Kind", hold the mouse button, scroll and click on "other". in the resulting popup select "system files" and include them in the search. then all instances of Silverlight will be found.
