List of Apps that cause slow backups & syncing.

I have run to to this on two different occasions. Apps that make the backup process last 10+ hours. It's really frustrating.
Post known problem apps and I will compile them in this post.
List:

sorry thqat should say CineXplayer
the product these apps support take on average twen minutes to load and that is only if you are loading a lot - so why so long. Apple products dn't do what they say on the tin.
Really bad user experience - Hmm
Love the product hate the support

  • My battery life between charges on my ipad 1 has plummeted to about 2 hours.  The guy at the genius bar suggested it might be an app (unfortunately I didn't have the device with me).  Does anyone know of apps that cause heavy drains on power?  Thanks!

The battery life between charges on my iPad has plummeted to about 2 hours.  The guy at the genius bar said the charge should last about 10 hours and suggested it might be an app (unfortunately I didn't have the device with me and the nearest Apple Store to me is 2 hours away).  Does anyone know of apps that cause heavy drains on power?  It also does not charge when it is plugged into my MacBook while I am using the iPad but it does when I am not using the iPad.  I mostly use the iPad to read e-mails, play Team Lava games, read books through iBooks or Kobo and the ABC Player.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Restore is about the only option left, short reinstalling the whole thing as new.
Before you restore, go to I tunes and turn off automatic sync.  Then plug the machine in.  Upload any photos that you have taken with the pad into I photos, or where ever you keep your pictures.  Then, in I tunes, transfer any purchases.
If any apps or purchased music get lost in the process, you can download them again for free.
You do not want to make a backup of what you have on the pad now. If you do, when you restore, you will simply recreate the same problem.
What you want to do is restore from a prior backup.  Do that.
Then run the system status app and see what the CPU numbers look like.  If they are ok, then you can start to re add apps until the problem shows up.
If this does not do it, then the last step is to set the pad up as new.  Check the numbers, then add the apps and settings back one by one.    While it is likely to be an app, it may be a setting somewhere.

  • List of apps that install into C:\?

What are The list of apps that install wholly or partially into C:\?
I noticed that PhotTool by default will install its cache files into C:\. Handy Backup installs its data there. It may be a concern if the phone keeps crashing without anybody knowing why. The disk may become full silently.
Which other apps installed into C:\.

That is highly dependent on how the app is designed or developed. There is no way to know that unless you ask each developer.

  • How to get a list of Apps that can not be recovered?

After restoring a backup (iCloud), about 5% of my 225 were not restored because they did not appear over the Apple Store. How to get a list of Apps that can not be recovered?

You should be able to download any apps that are missing at no extra cost. Just go to the App Store and download them again.

  • Upgraded my iPhone 5 from iOS 6 to 6.1. Lost all of my 250  contacts. The support person I spoke to gave me instructions that caused my backup (on my computer through iTunes) to be overwritten. Any suggestions?

A couple of nights ago I upgraded my iPhone 5 from iOS 6 to 6.1. All of my 250+ contacts were gone. I spoke to an Apple support person. The instructions she gave me, which I followed while she was on the land line with me, caused the backup file to be overwritten with the file that had 0 contacts. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone had a problem with lost contacts when upgrading to iOS 6.1?

Thank you. I ended up performing the Restore after I did an Update, and performing the restore solved the problem----I now have a functioning iPhone with all of my data, pics, and apps on it. Fortunately I made sure that I backed up my iPhone before I tried to update to iOS6. Man, what a headache though, and it sounds like I had it easy compared to some other horror stories I've read. I won't update my iOS on my iPhone again; i've learned my lesson. It remains to be seen whether iOS6 will be worth it :-)

  • Any App that will bi-directionally sync iPod Touch with Windows Desktop Outlook 2010 Tasks?

    Hi All
    iPod Touch 3rd gen iOS v 5.1.1
    iTunes (for Windows) v 10.7.0.21
Windows 7 32 bit Desktop PC
Outlook 2010 32 bit with POP3 mail server
Appigo ToDo app on iPod Touch
    I reside in Canada
I have been using Appigo's ToDo Task Manager app on my Touch for almost 3 years now. With their Appgio Sync conduit, I have been able to seemlessly bi-directionally sync between the Touch and Outlook Tasks on my Desktop. Now Appigo is no longer going to support Appigo Sync. I can keep using this sync conduit BUT I will no longer be able to update my Touch's ToDo app (eventually that will be a problem).
I DO NOT use iCloud and do NOT wish to use iCloud. I also do not wish to keep my tasks (which do contain confidential information) on anyone else's cloud server. Hence, I need the ability to direct sync between my Touch and my desktop.
I've been searching the web and the App Store looking for either a way to keep using ToDo with another sync method, OR another app that will allow syncing between the it on the Touch and my Desktop.
I don't care about syncing emails since they get downloaded on my Touch regardless. I don't care about syncing Calendars and Contacts since that happens whenever I sync my Touch to iTunes.  Just Outlook Tasks that need to be synced. I also don't care for Reminders - seems like a waste of space IMHO.
I can't be the only person on the planet that doesn't want to use a cloud server, doesn't have an email exchange server and wants to keep tasks in both handheld device and desktop in sync. Please, please, please, any and all suggestions and help will be most appreciated!! IF I need to go to iOS v 6+, then I will need to purchase a new iPod Touch; a huge expense when the Touch I have is still working fine (but if one has to, one has to).
    Thanks a bunch
    barb

I'm in a similar position. Just recently migrated to iPhone from Blackberry (and liking it) but would only do so after confirming that I could sync Outlook tasks to the iPhone. Using ToDo and Appigo sync was the solution and it has worked fine. And I deal with Calendar and Contacts in a similar fashion as you.
I'm not sure I understand the options. I don't have a basic "cloud as a process objection" and cost isn't an issue. But I do want my tasks to end up synced on both my laptop (on the hard drive) and on my iPhone (and soon to come iPad). A variation on your question. Is there no way to do this?

  • HT4009 Is there a 'black-list' of Apps that are basically fraudulent that one can consult and be warned of what Apps to avoid?

Is there a black-list of Apps being sold in iTunes that are basically fraudulent or a swindle that users can consult in order to be forewarned to avoid the said Apps? I

There are no black lists and the apps that are free but offer in-app purchases are not fraudulent.  They do allow you to play without paying money, however there are likely to be many options and oppotunities to purchase items within the game.
If you feel that a application is truly fraudulent because it makes statements or promises that are not true or it has charged you money without your consent, then you need to contact iTunes Store Support to let them know.

  • Have a new iphone 5S and music won't play when headphones are plugged in. Restored the phone and tried again without restoring my info.  Any ideas on apps that cause this?

I just purchased a new iphone 5s and music would not play on it with headphones plugged in.  They replaced the phone for me but it continued to do this.  So I restored the phone and tried to play music on youtube before I restored all my settings and apps....Any suggestions on common apps that may cause this?

We have tried 3 different brands of headphones, including the apple set and auxiliary audio cord.
Also, music works fine before I load all my apps, hence why I ask if anyone knows about any kind of certain apps causing this.

  • There's a glitch in my words with friends app that causes me to continually loose sound. Problem is every time I re:download the same app from iCloud I get the recurring problem. Is there anything I can do here? Pls help because it's driving me nuts!

Words with friends app has a glitch where I loose sound constantly, so every time I re:download it, I'm having the same problem as its the same faulty app from iCloud.

I'm not seeing that problem with Words with Friends on my iPhone 5 with iOS 8.3. Check your sound settings.
Try the standard troubleshooting steps in this order:
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.
Restore: Connect your device to iTunes on your computer, backup, and then select Restore to Factory.
See here for more details on restore: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201252

  • Ipod touch slow backup / sync

    Hi all,
I search many posts in Google and this forum and found that the problem is common to many people. Any solution which is effective right now?
I am using Windows 7 64bit with iPod Touch 3.1.2
    Thanks!

If it is a larger capacity iPod, it will take a long time to back up. You could switch to iCloud backup if you have iOS 5 or later. This way it backs up to the cloud automatically.

  • How can I find a list of apps that I bought in the App Store?

Is there a way to see what apps you've bought? Or do you have to go by the receipts they send you? I trashed those. Just curious how much I've spent on apps so far.

Log into your iTunes Store account and look at your Purchase History.
    Regards.

  • TS3992 I have ios 5.1.1 on my iphone 3gs and i can't seem to back up to my icloud. The only error the phone gives me is that the last backup did not complete. This happens even when i attempt to manually back up my phone to the cloud.

I am pretty sure my login information is correct because i see my previous backup on the phone. Any idea's what might cause this?

If you get the message "Backup not successful",  I had the same problem.
My solution was to turn off some apps (Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap my device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options) and try a manual backup.  If it didn't work, turn off a few more apps and try a backup.  Keep doing that until the backup works.  Then try adding in some of the last batch of apps that were previously turned off - the objective is to find the app that causes the backup to fail.  For me, I suspect that the one app I found had a bad data file that, when included in the backup, caused the backup to quit.
This can be a long process if you have a lot of apps that you originally turned on for backups.
