List of Characters Set that cause Unreadable format Errors

I am trying to understand, what are the characters that cause, unreadable format Errors when a file is being opened in Xlsx format (Excel 2007)
Please can anybody help me at the earliest

Hi,
This issue could be caused by several reasons, not only the Characters Set setting.
Please try searching your computer for the following .DLL:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\ShellStreams.dll
or
C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\ShellStreams.dll
For our most affected customers, renaming this particular .dll file, or uninstalling the application that put it there, has been a workaround to this problem. (If you find a ShellStreams64.dll instead, most likely it will not help renaming
it and you need to check the other folder instead.)
For more causes about this issue, please refer to the following blog article:

  • I want to add a Saved Mailbox, but I do not have an Edit button for Mailboxes?  Is there a setting that causes the Edit button to display?

    The user manual says to go Mailboxes and click the Edit button to add a Mailbox, but I do not have an Edit button displayed in Mailboxes.  Is there a setting for displaying the Edit Button?  I have the latest version of iPad (Model MD328LL).  Thanks.

    If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
    If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP. Only IMAP email accounts can create folders on the iPad. Any folders that you would already have in an IMAP account would sync to the device as well.

  • Cannot import photos into iPhoto - Unreadable format????

    When I try to import photos from my Original iPhone to iPhoto (software 3.1.3) I receive an error message that says :
    Unreadable format:
    The following files could not be imported. (The file is an unrecognized format.)
    IMG_0279.JPG
    And lists all file names. I have imported pics from the phone many times in the past with no issues.
    Please help! I really want to import these pics.

    Thank you for your advice. I tried image capture and it will not import either. I know that I can email myself the photos and that is fine. My concern is that not one photo will import. I just took a new one to test. So I guess there is an issue with my phone or camera.

  • Response format error when using the ASCII object to communicate with a Dart ASPII motor controller.

    I can't seem to get Lookout to work using a COMM RS232 connection to our Dart controller. When using a term program, i'll send the command RV1,0,6 and get the response 1000,0005. I set up the ASCII object in Lookout with the following:
    SEND=Pb5
    RequestFormat="%s"
    ResponseFormat="%s" (and many other combinations)
    RQV1.TXT=TextEntry1
    for TextEntry1 I enter RV1,0,6 and I always get that dang response format error!
    Any suggestions? Obvious goofs?

    What's the Expression you're inserting to read back the response? If you're using just RSV1, you'll get the error. Try RSV1.txt.
    For troubleshooting purposes, delete all RSV expressions and the ResponseFormat connection and insert just an Expresssion on ASCII1.Response (where ASCII1 is your Object). This will give you the raw ASCII frame coming in. Then you can start formatting this raw response with appropriate ResponseFormat and RSVs.
    Hope this helps,
    Khalid

  • Disk format error on restore

    I have just started to have problems with my ipod 20g (4th gen) it all started with the ipod taking ages to start playing, it also wouldn't skip to the next track. The folder logo appeared and told me to go to the apple web site, I did what the site told me ie reset the ipod, but now find my computer will recognize the drive but I-tunes wont.
    I tried a restore with the updater but this has just come up with a message that said "disk format error"
    I can play song's through my ipod still but if I try to skip to another track then it takes ages to play the next track.

    Thanks for all the help.
    I have tried disk check and tried to reformat the drive via windows but it just came up with a "disk format error"? Im thinking the drive must be faulty!
    Last night my computer and I-Tunes finally recognised the ipod but I couldnt play any of the tracks in I-tunes as it kept bringing up the ! sign?
    The ipod let me play songs this morning but in-between the tracks it played about a second of other tracks not on that album??
    Its also really unresponsive, and sometimes when I select a song it wont play the song just skip to the next one, then not play that one and skip to the next etc etc
    Thanks again for all the help any thoughts would be appreciated

  • SQL*Plus: list of characters that need to be escaped

    Hi all,
    We have a requirement where we need to add comments to tables and table columns and this is done using SQL*Plus. I understand that there are some special characters that are interpreted by SQL*Plus such as ampersand (&). I would like to know the list of such characters so that we can escape them before passing it on to CREATE COMMENT ON statement. So far we have identified the following special characters:
    The following characters need to be escaped no matter where they are present in the comment
    single quote "'" (hex 27)
    define "&" (hex 26)
    sqlterminator ";" (hex 3b)
    The following characters need to be escaped when they are the only character on a line
    forward slash "/" (hex 2f)
    blockterminator "." (hex 2e)
    sqlprefix "#" (hex 23)
    The following characters need to escaped if they are followed by a newline
    line continuation "-" (hex 2d)
    We would like to know if there are other special characters and appreciate if someone can provide the list.
    Thanks

    I think the only two characters you need to worry about in your comment strings are: ' and & (apostrophe/single quote and ampersand). The latter you can get around by doing:
    set define offbefore running your statements, but the apostrophe you'll have to double up to allow oracle to recognise that it's not the end of the string. Eg:
    I'm a stringwould become
    'I''m a string'  -- NB. this is two single quotes, not 1 double quote!or, if you're on 10g or above, you can use the quote operator (q):
    select q'#I'm a string#' from dual;See the documentation for what characters can be used as the quote delimiters: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14251/adfns_sqltypes.htm#sthref377

    You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • Do we have any method to list out the servers that are critical and the component/monitor causing the server to turn into critical state in SCOM 2012

    Hello Team,
    We are monitoring 1000 servers in our environment and out of 1000 servers, we have approximately 100 servers showing as critical state on the server state view.
    We can get the critical servers list from SCOM console, but we are not able to get the information about the component responsible for the server to be critical. Using Health explorer to find the root cause for 100 servers is really impossible and time consuming.
    Do we have any method to list out the servers that are critical and the component/monitor causing the server to turn into critical state?
    Advance thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    As far as I know alerts with severity as criticla may cause windows computer in a critical state, we can try below code to find all critical alerts:
    get-alert -criteria 'ResolutionState=0 AND Severity=2' | select Name,ResolutionState,TimeRaised | export-csv c:\Alerts.txt
    Criteria Syntax http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb437603.aspx
    Values to use.
    Resolution State
    Severity Values for Alerts
    0       =   New
    0 = INFORMATIONAL
    255   =   Closed
    1 = WARNING
    2 = CRITICAL
    Hope this helps.

  • Iexplorer setting that would cause export of xls error "Could not open ..."

    We have a situation where the same user, on two different machines, gets two different results. The user is attempting to export to xls. We are using Discoverer 10g viewer.
    On machine one, the error (Could not open https://server.co.net/discoverer/export/test.xls) prompts when attempting to open or save the exported xls. On maching two, the xls can be opened or saved with no problem. I'm guessing it is a security setting within iexplorer.
    Any thoughts...
    Thanks,
    Jamie

    The quick solution to the problem was to login to XP as an administrator, backup the user profile, remove the user profile, log off, have the user re login (basically recreates profile with latest certificates and security settings), update new profile with backup data (favorites, my documents, etc...), and now all is fine. Not sure which certificate or security setting was causing the problem, but now user has the most up to date profile.

  • Message uses a character set that is not supported by the internet service

    Does any one have any advice on how to fix this problem?
    E-mails sent from my iphone 3G periodically arrive in an unreadable form at the recipient. The body of the e-mail has been replaced with the message "This message uses a character set that is not supported by the internet service...." The problem e-mails also include an attachment that contains an unformatted text file containing the original message surrounded by what appears to be lots of formatting data that is displayed as gibberish.
    This occurs sometimes, but not always, even with the same recipients. I am sending e-mail through a G-mail account that is configured on the iphone using IMAP. I have tried the gmail account to use the two available formatting options for mail, but neither fixes the problem.
    I have also upgraded to 2.01 and restored a few times without impact.

    Hi,
    I got somewhat similar problem with special charecters(German umlaud ,,..).
    I create a file with java having special charecters in it. Now if I open this file I am able to view the special charecters in it.But If I attach this file send it using following code then receiver can not see the umlaud charecters in it.They get replaced by _ or ?
    MimeBodyPart mbp2 = new MimeBodyPart();
    FileDataSource fds = new FileDataSource(fileName);
    mbp2.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(fds));
    mbp2.setFileName(output.getName());
    Multipart mp = new MimeMultipart();
    mp.addBodyPart(mbp2);
    msg.setContent(mp);
    Transport.send(msg);
    From you message it looks like you are able to send the mail attachment correctly(by preserving special charecters).
    Can you tell me what might be wrong in my code.
    I appriciate your efforts in advance.

  • DeleteXml() causing xml data format error in database

    Hi, guys,
      I'm using the oracle  xml db 11g in my website application. Last week I found that using the deletexml() to delete a node in the xml may cause a terrible problem that the rest data in the database had wrong xml format. I wonder is it a bug when using binary xml storage.
      My xml data is describe below,
    <root>
         <nodes>
              <node id="1">
                   <name>John</name>
                   <age>16</age>
                   <hobby>football</hobby>
              </node>
              <node id="2">
                   <name>Alex</name>
                   <age>22</age>
                   <hobby>table tenisl</hobby>
             </node>
         <nodes>
    </root>
      I using deletexml() to delete just a node once time,
    "update projects set object_value=deletexml(object_value, '/root/nodes/node[@id="1"]')"
    Usually it successes and the rest data is as excepted, but sometime, I find that after deleting a node, any query in the database except "select * from projects" gets null. And the rest data has wrong format like below,
    <root>
         <nodes>
              <node id="1">
                   <name>John</name>
                   <age>/hobby>
              </node>
              <node id="2">
                   <name>Alex</name>
                   <age>22</age>
                   <hobby>table tenisl</hobby>
             </node>
         <nodes>
    </root>
    Just one format error causes the whole xml data valueless, but it seems that in most time the deletexml() works well, does anyone knows what happens?
    Thanks a lot.

    The better idea is to use XMLPatch() if you can.
    XMLPatch?
    Do you use it yourself on a regular basis?
    Personally, I find it fun to use but the performance doesn't match my expectations (no piecewise update/streaming eval AFAIK).
