List of file types to convert to PDF?

Can a document that was scanned into Picassa software be converted into a PDF file using Adobe CreatePDF?

First which version of MS Office are you using?
In MS Office does the PDF Maker work?
Have you enabled PDF Maker in MS Office?
MS Office does not automatically allow PDF Maker macros to work by default. One has to enabale the PDF Maker macros.
The PDF Maker macros may not recognize the new MS Office file types, so you will have to save your files to the Office 2003/XP types.

  • Add file types to convert to pdf list

Using Acrobat pro 8.1.2 on Windows XP sp2. When I try to convert to pdf from doc or xls file I get an error message saying "not a supported file type". I checked the prefernces and noted that Microsoft Office is not included in the convert to pdf list. So how do I add Microsoft Office to the list?

  • Shrink the List of File Types in the Save As List

How to I simplify the list of file types in the Save-As file type list? I use less than six file types. I have no need for most of these.
It would be nice to have my top 5 and then the ability to go off-menu if needed for others.
    Thanks,
    Drew

I was able to reduce the list of file types by changing some file extensions. In the following folder
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Required\Plug-Ins\File Formats
I inserted a tilda (~) into the file extension for these files:
    Cineon.~8bi
    Dicom.~8bi
    JPEG2000.~8bi
    PCX.~8bi
    Pixar.~8bi
    Radiance.~8bi
    U3D.~8bi
Adobe Photoshop CC has "File Formats" in 4 different places! Two each for the x86 and 64 bit versions.
Since I don't use the x86 version very much, there was no great desire to mess with those two folders.
I'd would also like to get rid of
    JPEG Stereo (*.JPS)
    Multi-Picture Format (*.MPO)
    Photoshop Raw (*.RAW)
Portable Bit Map (*.PBM, *.PGM, *.PPM...)
    I see "Camera Raw.8bi" in
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats
    but renaming it didn't help.
For others who want to do this, and are concerned, just make a note of the file extensions you are changing so you know how to return to the way things were if you ever need to save as a file type that has been removed from your list.
You must relaunch Photoshop after making any file name changes to see the effects.
Any ideas on how to get rid of 4 more file types from my list?

  • What to do when file will not convert a PDF to Word "properly"?

Is there anything I can do when a file will not convert from PDF to Word (for editing purposes)?
It converted some of it fine, but most of it is converted into symbols and letters of some text has been changed.

    Hi Michelle ,
You can simply edit that file in Acrobat itself .
Or if you could brief us little more about your requirements ,we would be able to assist you intelligently .

  • JFileChooser Listing Acceptable File Types

How do you display to the user the acceptable file types in JFileChooser.

The getDescription method of the FileFilter should return the list of file types that the filter accepts. If you create a filter that only takes jpg and bmp files, then the getDescription should return something like "*.jpg, *.bmp"When you add the filter to the filechooser, it's decription get's displayed when it's chosen.

  • New computer ff install not listing all file types under tools-options-applications

New windows installation on another with the same version of ff (10.0.2). Clicking local .pls files in this machine gives option to launch VLC media player but on other computer just text appears.
The extension appears in the applications tab after clicking tools and options on this computer, but the list is far shorter on the other machine and does not include this extension. Is this rectified by installing a plugin? If so which one?

The issue isn't that VLC isn't playing the files- it is... but linking to the files saved on my system does not launch VLC from Firefox on the other computer like it does on this one. I've actually been able to add to the applications list. Technically I can run the same apps and associations on both machines except that Firefox isn't handling the ".pls" files at all with the other machine
I've saved a directory structure with .pls files to different streaming radio stations and the directory is linked to from Firefox on both computers... identical directories and files stored. When I bring up one of the folders in this machine and click on the file, I first get the same dialog as you attached- I launch VLC by selecting "Open with" then clicking OK. The radio station plays. I've set it to change stations when I click within the iframe without having to go to VLC and use the open media feature- it does the trick with a single click from Firefox,
The other machine when I click the file the iframe in which the directory was displayed shows text information (urls and other arcane digital nonsense) as though the file were a text file. Both machines have similar installations.... I do not want to overload on the other machine- it's my communications backup but I would like this arrangement to work as it does on this computer.
Again, the biggest hint I see is the absence of the ".pls" file type in the list under the "applications" tab after clicking "Tools"-"Options" in Firefox on the machine in question.
Can something be done either by transplanting missing files from one machine to the next or from about:config to induce the desirable result from the other machine in Firefox?

  • MS Project 2007 files crash after converting to .PDF files

Need some help. Currently I create complex projects schedules (3-7 pages in length) and then convert to a .PDF thru Adobe Acrobat 8.1STD and although it takes a little bit, it does create the .PDF file. However when I open in Adobe Reader and try to scroll pages, it crashes and closes out Adobe completely without any error message after about 5-10 seconds. I run MS Office 2007 Small Business and all other conversions in Excel and Word are working just fine, it is only between these two software packages. Any Suggestions??
    Thanks

    Dear Tom Stangler
I have used Adobe Acrobat Distiller for printing MS text files, MS PPT files for conversion into PDF.
Excel files cannot be converted, as it looses its Cell Properties, no matter which convertor you use.
However, MS Excel files can be safely embedded in Adobe PDF format using Adobe Acrobat attachment tool, wherein you can edit it, and save also.
Adobe Distiller has options for ebook, print, screen functions. It hence requires to be edited for appropriate conversions.
Since these adjustments are rather cumbersome, I exclusively use
'Cute PDF writer 2.6' Freeware which comes along with Ghostscript convertor, does excellent job of easy convertions without any errors at all. It is very user friendly. Printing any number of pages for conversion int PDF is no problem at all.

  • Acrobat 8.1 Pro .mht And Some .html files Do Not Convert To PDF

Acrobat 8.1 Pro with Windows Vista. .mht files are saved complete webpage single files similar to complete html files except they're as a single file instead of a file and a folder. When using Create From File, Acrobat does not recognize .mht files and will not convert them to PDF. Some complete .html files will not convert using Create from File, even though Acrobat does recognize them.
Also, when I'm logged into a website and want to convert a webpage to PDF using Create From Web, often the resulting PDF document is of the login page and not the page I selected with the error message "can't locate file". These difficult webpages can be converted to PDF using the Print Adobe PDF function, but hyperlinks are not preserved with this function.
I would like to be able to convert all files (including .mht) and webpages to PDF while preserving hyperlinks. Can anyone help me with this?

    Bruce,
mht files are not standard html files. Acrobat will not handle those. If
you are on a website that most be logged into, then Acrobat cannot get
to those files since it is not logged in. You can print to pdf, since
    your browser is logged in.

  • Best video file type to convert for Apple TV???

I just got the Apple TV and love it, but I have a ton of AVI's and whatnot that obviously won't play.  What would you all recommend is the best thing to do with them?  I have converting software, but want to choose the right file type that will not make it 2-3X the size.  Appreciate tips!!!!

Old thread for others, but,,... It isnt necessary to convert a bunch of files, if you have Plex on your pc, and on your iphone/ipad.
I would have spent a month converting the terra bytes of all the video files that I had but i just airplay and my Plex app to send nearly any type of file on my Imac directly to my Apple tv.
It converts on the fly any file that isnt supported.

These are standard processes which are covered in the help files and have been discussed many times here.  This is NOT a training forum for newbies where experts just give you the solution for your requirement.  Once you have proven that you've actually made an effort to solve the issue yourself and have a SPECIFIC technical question, you'll get some help...

  • File unable to convert to PDF, how to resolve this problem?

How do I resolve the problem I've had for several days of being unable to convert a file to PDF?

What are you using to convert:
    Adobe Acrobat?
    PDF Pack online service?
an Office program like Microsoft Word?
    What exactly means "unable"?

  • How to SEARCH for specific file TYPES, e.g. PDF?

If I know the title has in it "resume" and I know it's a PDF, how do you search for all PDF files that have the word "resume" in the title?
    AND..
How would you search all PDF files that had the word "supervisor" inside the document?
    Thanks

Command F should do it. Once the search window appears, you should see a drop down box headed kind and next to it one headed any. Select PDF from the any one. Click the plus button, and another field will appear and you can see again more drop down boxes. You just want to set these up so you end up with name and contains, you can then add your text to the remaining field.

  • How to gather several scanned file type document into one pdf file?

    tiger   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi, leya.
I presume the scanned documents have been saved as individual PDFs.
    To combine PDFs:
    • If you have Adobe Acrobat, either Standard or Professional Edition, you can combine PDFs by opening one of the PDFs and then using Document > Insert Pages to add additional PDFs to the first you have opened, then save the combined PDF either replacing the first PDF or using File > Save As... to save the combined PDF with a different file name.
    • If you do not have Acrobat, you can download and use any of the these third-party tools. In particular, Combine PDFs is both freeware, popular, and highly rated.
    Good luck!
