  • Industrial Machinery Manufacturing scenario

    Dear Sir,
We are in the business of manufacturing the Industrial Machinery as per customer specific requirement . The multilevel BOM for the machine comprise of almost 1000 differnt components / assemblies . Some of the components are bought-out and some are manufactured in-house .
We run the MRP  on the basis of engineering BOM and this result into several planned orders getting generated .
The issue with our appraoch is that there are lot many Production Order getting generated and many of such production order require very small duration operation for producing their output  components  (eg  a keyway cut  in an input assigned forging) .
We think that instead of having so many production orders , there should be a better practice so that numbers of production orders gets reduced .
We seek the expert opinions from SAP Gurus as in such type of industry scenario what is the best procedure to be followed so that  organization working becomes the efficient one .

    Hi Sonia,
What I understood from your query, I think you need to use Special procurement key '50 - Phantom assembly' for your requirement.
Following are the links which will explain what is Phantom assembly, how it works and how it should be implemented.

    Hi,
It's just a standard footer I'm using, preventing me to look up if a user is already on the map or not.
The SDN admins are rather busy with TechEd, so ther might be a delay.
Don't worry you will get your points.

  • Best Practice for manufacturing Industrial Machinery in batch size

    Dear Sir,
We have a scenario where we need to manufacture Industrial Machine in a Batch Size of 10 nos . These machines have multi level BOM and total manufacturing cycle time is approx 3 months .
We request you to kindly suggest us about the best manufacturing practices related process we should follow to address this scenario .
At present , we have been manufacturing these Machines on individual basis ( It means MRP run is done for individual machne and production orders generated are also on individual machine manufacturing basis) .
We would be highly greatful for the suggested solution pl .
    Rgds

    Dear ,
Please use the following functionality in your case :
1.If you are particualr to have 10 pc in each batch qty then keep the Lot Size as Fixed Lot Sixe -FX with Fixed lot size qty as 10 in material master MRP1 view .
2.As your approximate manufacturing cycle is 3 motnhs , then you can have MRP run once three months for FG   and plan your dependent accordingly through MRP .
3.If you are following MTS cycle , then create demand in MD61 or you can create direct Sales Order in VA01 for MTO process
4.Run MRP with NETCH ,1,1.3,3,2 , planned order with FG qty 10 pc will be generated  and you can convert them into Production Order in MD04-Planned order-convert to PO

  • Can anyone give me a list of app hosting companies other than the expensive adobe?

Adobe has priced itself out of my budget and I am looking for other hosting companies that take the DPS built file.
    Best regards,
    James

Well, if I were the designer of the error code, I think I could probably give an idea of what kinds of circumstances might cause this error to occur, regardless of the application.
However, if it helps, here is the problem. I have an ATE program that performs thermal cycling for a UUT using VISA calls to a GPIB controller which communication with 3 different instruments. The test itself runs fine for long periods of time, and then I start to see this error occur. However, the program appears to continue to run after I press 'OK' from the pop-up dialog ackowledging that the error has occurred. There appears to be no evidence of a memory leak that could possibly be contributing to the problem, or at least none that I have detected, and the error description itself is very vague. So basically what I am looking for is a better understanding of what MIGHT be causing this type of error. I would not expect a specific cause for my particular application, because as Bob was so kind to point out, I hadn't offered much information in my original post. What I was really looking for was a better understanding of the error itself, from a 30kft point of view.
Thanks Bob_Schor for pointing out the deficiencies of my original question, it's posts like yours that make this discussion board a wonderful place to have a professional discussion.

  • Adobe now #2 on my list of hated Software Companies

    Why Adobe?
Why must you load acrobat on StartUp?
Why must you lie to me, telling me it's necessary at start-up?
Why then, do you tell me to go to msconfig and disable it... forever having to run a Selective Start-up?
Why do you put your wants, before your customer's needs?
I can wait the 5 extra seconds to start Acrobat... so put back the option to Disable at Startup.
And what is this Adobe IPC Broker?  Why is it there when I have no Adobe software running?
Are you listening?  When will you start listening and stop making excuses?
I apologize for my bluntness, for my harshness, but I pay you good money every month and simplay ask that your relinquish control of my hardware to me!!!
You see, I get paid to produce work, and your software keeps slowing me down.  And then when I can't take it anymore, I call your support, who are p[aid to lie to me and give me excuses.  But them being good, honest people, when I question them directly, they admit the truth... no we do not need these files to run at Start-Up, and yes, using "msconfiog" is a work around, and not ideal.  And yes, Adobe should not, and does not have to do this to us.
For me, it comes down to disrespect.  Maybe your average user is uninformed and can easily be fooled.  But you need to accomodate advanced users, not interfere with them.
All I want in my PC life is to be able to keep my computer running on NORMAL START-UP.
    Ok, a bit more...
I also want to be able to have full control over my computer,
and I want you to stop changing my settings every time I do an update...
Oh yeah, and I also want you to stop trying to insert 3rd party virus programme that I do not want or need.  I do not care how much they pay you, I already pay you, and I pay you to not treat me like a fool!
    Stop slowing us down Adobe!!!!

Thanks iPodmaven for showing me how to check the arrow to the right of the device image and convert it into a inverted triangle.  Problem solved!  Thanks

    Dear Kanna,
Packing list is one of the output type in the shipping output process.
Standard output type for Packing list is PL00
To get the Packing list output you need to do the output determination settings for the outbound deliveries.
In the output determination procedure you keep the Packing list output type.
For output determination in shiiping go through this link

please let me know in detail the different and typical business scenarios of a manufacturing industry.
the points will be rewarded for more detailed and helpful answers.
    sripriya

    Hi Sripriya,
Manufacturing has been the foundation of SAP's customer base since the company's origin more than 30 years ago. In fact, SAP's very first customers were in the chemicals, consumer goods and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries, where SAP solutions revolutionized the integration of materials management and financial accounting. Today, SAP industry solutions enable closed-loop processes across engineering, manufacturing and supply chain operations to managing product life cycles, customer and supplier relationships, human resources and finances.
Of all enterprise application providers in the world, SAP unquestionably supports the largest set of manufacturing companies. With its unmatched depth and breadth of industry-specific experience, SAP offers solution sets tailored to meet the unique business demands of more than 12,000 manufacturing companies of all sizes across diverse industry sectors, including aerospace and defense; automotive; chemicals; consumer products; engineering, construction and operations; high tech; industrial machinery and components; mill products; mining; oil and gas and pharmaceuticals.
As increasing competition reigns across all industries throughout the global market, SAP® solutions are empowering companies with the added-value capabilities they need to grow their customer base and competitive advantage, such as after-sales service management throughout the product or project life cycle.
SAP industry solutions support all common manufacturing methods ranging from make-to-stock in relatively stable manufacturing environments to planning with and without final assemblies in manufacturing environments confronted by rapid supply-demand fluctuations. Building on the capabilities of its enterprise software to improve business process efficiency and reduce costs, SAP is helping manufacturing companies to drive growth by enabling the next step in business process evolution: adaptive supply chain networks.
SAP sees adaptive supply chain networks as encompassing five key abilities that competitive businesses need to compete in today's marketplace:
    •     Plan – Optimize and schedule supply chain and shop floor operations based on resource and material availability
    •     Execute – Manage build, move, modify, track and document activities on across the supply chain
    •     Sense – Continually monitor and alert in real-time exceptions that impact operations
    •     Respond – React rapidly and efficiently to demand and supply signals to internal and external deviations
    •     Learn – Continually evolve and incorporate knowledge into supply chain and manufacturing process
SAP solutions empower companies with these abilities, creating enhanced visibility into the extended supply chain and thereby enabling businesses to adapt processes and respond in real time to meet customer demands. SAP builds user-centric solutions that adaptive manufacturers run to intelligently monitor, manage and optimize supply chain and shop floor operations and to seamlessly integrate into demand chain processes.
    •     Increased revenue – SAP solutions help companies increase their ability to anticipate market needs, seize new business opportunities, enable new levels of innovation and make sales and marketing campaigns more effective.
    •     Reduced costs – From reducing transaction costs to streamlining engineering, manufacturing, maintenance and logistics, SAP solutions empower companies to do what they do best, quickly identify where costs are being incurred, and reduce these costs across the enterprise.
    •     Increased capacity and improved delivery – Visibility into production and project schedules and customer requirements enables companies to precisely evaluate and quickly respond to market changes.
    •     Enhanced customer service – A more responsive customer service organization helps companies retain satisfied customers and drive new revenue streams from after-sales services and parts sales.
    •     Improved sales and increased customer lifetime value – With effective customer segmentation and accurate market forecasting, companies can make sales efforts count by identifying and retaining the most profitable customers through a continual understanding of the needs of individual customers and customer segments.
    •     Clarified business vision – Enhanced insight throughout the entire extended enterprise helps companies make more informed decisions, improve processes and streamline procedures to increase return on assets.

  • I have a long list of Certificate Authorities, many of which are overseas, e.g. Netherlands, Turkey, China, and many others. Should I delete them?

I have a long list of Certificate Authorities (about 280), many of which are overseas, e.g. Netherlands, Turkey, China, and many others that are unknown to me. They do not appear to be related to any websites I visited. Are my emails compromised in terms of privacy? Should I delete them? Why do I need so many certificate authorities?

Sure delete them... but when you get email or try and open a web page that has a certificate from them you will not be able to open the mail or the web page without issues or making manual decision to trust the authority in question. The geographical location of the certifying authority is of no relevance.
The now defunct Mozilla Messaging used a certifying authority in Israel for it's certificates (Start) so if someone had deleted that from their settings in a fit of xenophobic housekeeping they would not have been able to open their web sites or read mail from their employees without problems.
Certifying Authorities form a chain of trust. They on the whole certify one another, but at the top of the certification pyramid/s there most be someone or group of someones who the program simply "trusts" to certify. Hence programs have a long list of pre approved companies that are allowed to issue certificates. These lists are constantly updated and should there be a serious security issue such as one of the authorities being compromised. The people at Mozilla will update or revoke that authorities trusted status.
