List of Mac OS X Keyboard Shortcuts?

Is there a complete list (or just a list of commonly used) keyboard shortcuts? I know there are a lot of nifty ones out there, and I know that I can create my own, but I'd like to know which ones are out there to start with.

no complete list that i know of but here is a reasonably full list

  • MAC Remote Desktop Keyboard shortcuts

It drives me crazy when in Mac I use cmd+c cmd+v while when using Remote Connection I need use crtl+c crtl+v.
Parallels in theirs solution support both combinations in Windows.
Can you add option to Remote Connection for Mac to personalize (redirect) shrotcuts ?

    Hi Rafal,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
You can try below 2 methods, if it success for you.
    Method 1:
You can set universal keyboard shortcuts in System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Shortcuts > All Applications, you can enter menu values (Save, Copy, Paste, etc) and then assign new key combinations to
    them.
    Method 2:
    1. On the RDC menu, click Preferences, and then click
    Keyboard.
    2. In the Mac column, double-click the keyboard shortcut that you want to change, and then press the combination of keys that you want to use instead.
NOTE:  The new combination of keys must include one modifier key and at least one additional key, such as CONTROL + F10 .

  • Mac Mail custom keyboard shortcuts won't work

I'm using Mac Mail, trying to set keyboard shortcuts to set flags
    - I goto preferences/keyboard/application shortcuts
    - click on "+" to add shortcut
    - specify Mail shortcut in dropdown menu
    - add 6 different shotrcuts OPT/CMD-_ (where _ is: L S V F R P)
    - when I added the shortcut, i was very careful to make sure the MENU TITLE of the shortcut in  OS-X preferences paine is the same as the
Then, in Mail app, reading a message, I press the shortcut (ex: OPT/CMD-L), and the flag is not set

I'm having this exact same problem with Mail.app on Mavericks, and my workaround is exactly the same.  Doesn't it sort of defeat the whole purpose of keyboard shortcuts if I have to grab my mouse to expose the relevant menu?!  Very frustrating.  Does anyone know how to either 1) find a better workaround on our end or 2) convince Apple to fix the problem?
#2 seems unlikely since custom keyboard shortcuts is probably a pretty rarely used feature...

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the previous page in a new tab that is right next to the current tab?

Let's say I'm currently on page X, and the previous page I came from was page Y. Is there a keyboard shortcut to open page Y in a new tab right next to the tab with page X?
Currently my only solution is to hold down cmd (for mac) and click the back arrow button, but again, I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut. I know CTRL + T opens up the same page in a tab right next to the current one, but I have to wait for it to load then press backspace to go back one page.

  • SSMS keyboard shortcut

In the T-SQL windows, is there a keyboard shortcut in SSMS that jump focus to the available databases dropdown box and allow me to select different database?
I checked the long SSMS keyboard shortcut list on MSDN but couldn't find answer to my question.
    Thanks.

Alt + D will bring you up to the databases drop down list.
Where is the keyboard shortcut list on MSDN?  I'd like to see what else is missing.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut for zooming out my parents' computer's desktop

I did not witness what happened, but apparently my brother ctrl+scrolled up(and zoomed all the way in) and my mother has been trying to figure out how to zoom it out. We have a Mighty Mouse, but it can not scroll down for some strange reason(It's broken). We somehow got it to zoom all the way out, but we have no clue how we did it. Is there a quick keyboard shortcut to zoom the screen out all the way in case it happens again(or in case I make some video that requires me to zoom in and focus on XCode and I later want to zoom out, seeing as my mother fixed her preferences to not allow it to zoom in)? If so, what is it? Is there also a keyboard shortcut to zoom in, in case we turn scrolling off altogether?

In the System Preference> Universal Access> panel, you can reverse the
results of an accidental setting found through a random keyboard command.
    • Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1343
Or, just keyboard: *The use of Option-Command-8 is said to Turn On/Off Zoom*.
Using a standard USB mouse, be it an old one-button Apple USB or a newer
two-button PC mouse (no drivers should be needed) you could get past the
immediate issue of the Mighty Mouse's scroll button problem.
The Mighty Mouse probably has dust & debris inside the roller-ball assembly.
There have been some instructions (on how to open/clean & reseal it) online.
If you attempt to do this, be sure you have a working alternative mouse first.
*Cleaning Mighty Mouse* involves some skill, dexterity, tools, glue, tedium & time:

  • Keyboard shortcut for strikethru ?

Is there a way to select the strikethrough annotation icon in Acrobat XI (Mac) with a keyboard shortcut? Some but not all of the tools have keystrokes assigned by default. tx

Yep, that's pretty much what I was on about. You can do faux bold and italic in apps. like Word and I seem to remember that Quark used to do it too. But to my way of thinking it's bad Latin to use faux-anything. It's better to use a different font (or even create one) than to try and force a font to do what it wasn´t designed to do. I bear great respect for good type designers and get a bit puritanical when I see good fonts being misused.
Photoshop gives you different kinds of anti-aliasing which can sometimes get you part of the way you want to go.

  • All Keyboard shortcuts in using JDEV

    Hi,
I didnot find any document on Internet that contains all the keyboard shortcuts using JDeveloper.
Some of them can be seen in the JDev menu's themself but not all, like "the keyboard shortcut for matching flower braces".
So, please, if somebody have compiled them, please send me or post it here.

    Hi,
in JDeveloper, go to Tools--> Preferences-->Accelerators for a list of commands and associated keyboard shortcuts. Note that not all commands have keyboard shortcuts defined by default, but you can assign new ones.

I don't recall what the CTRL-COMMAND-DownArrow shortcut did, but have you tried just using COMMAND-DownArrow or CTRL-DownArrow depending upon what you want? Also see Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts.

  • Keyboard shortcut to make a selection on a dialog box

How can I select an option in a pop-up dialog box without using the mouse. For example in iTunes, whenever I delete something, the box asks if I am sure I want to move it to the trash and it is defaulted to NO, but I want to select YES. I can't find a way to use the keyboard to choose the other selection.

  • Keyboard shortcuts: minimize, maximize, show, hide, make visible, unhide, activate oh my!

Sorry for the long posts, with multiple questions, but I think they are all related.
    1.   I often, accidentally, set a window to Full Screen.  The window fills entire desktop, with the exception of the menu bar.  I want to be able to cascade two or more windows such that I can see both on the desktop.  While still seeing some parts of the desktop.  I'm able to minimize to the dock, by selecting the '-' option with my mouse.
         a.  What are the keyboard shortcuts for minimize, unminimize window.  Typically in Win  I would Alt-tab, and tab to the window I want to see.  When I Cmd-tab and select, e.g., firefox, in  Mac nothing happens.  It seems the only way to unminimize from the dock is to use the mouse.  Is there a keyboard shortcut?  And is this really 'minimizing the window', 'hiding the window', or something else.
         b.  Does the Mac have the concept of 'saving window size' similar to windows when the minimize option changes to 'minimize to size X'?  'Size X' being less than full screen and more than 'minimized'?  If so, how do I enable this concept?  If not, is there some alternative that Macions typically use to go from full screen to 'Size X' screen?
         c.  Please describe the concept of hide X, unhide All, show all?  And specifically why the 2ndary menu's do not have the complete set included.  For example:  If there is an option to 'hide X', I would expect there to be a 'unhide X'.  X being window, application, all windows, all applications, etc.
         d.  What is the logical relationship between all the 'hide','show', minimize X, etc. features that I am obviously missing?  There seems to be some logic to it but I am oblivious to it.  And thus spend quite a bit of time looking for a window and trying to get it to display on my desktop.  And then once its on my desktop, I spend more time trying to go from 'not-full screen-but-not minimized' and minimized.
    Any help is appreciated.!!1
And yes, I have looked through the Mac 101, Switch to Mac tutorials.  They mention how to do some of the functions I mention.  But there is no explanation of the relationship between them/purpose for each.  I'm sure they are not duplicates of each other.  And lastly, it does not fully explain keyboard shortcuts.  e.g., I think I found a keyboard shortcut for 'hide X' but then I didn't find the shortcut for 'un-hide X', etc.

See  Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts.
    Apple - Support - Switch 101.
Let's see, now.  Show means, "make visible."  Hide means, "make invisible."  It then follows logically as to what "Show All" and "Hide All" must mean.
Other differences simply reflect Apple's design for OS X versus Microsoft's design for Windows.
Usually COMMAND-H hides if the object is visible and un-hides if the object is invisible - a switch.
I switch between OS X and Windows and Linux all of which have somewhat different UIs, but it's not that hard unless you want to make it so, which is what i think you are doing.

  • How can I delete words from the "Replace list" on my Mac without deleting them in "Keyboard Shortcuts" on my iPhone?

I have scoured the internet but I have not been able to find a solution for this issue. It seems my "Replace list" and "with list", or "Keyboard Shortcuts" as it's called on the iPhone (Where to find it on a Mac ; Where to find it on an iPhone) migrated from my iPhone (iOS 8.1.2) to my Macbook (OSX Yosemite 10.10.1) when I logged in with my iCloud account.
I really, really don't want this feature on my computer but I do want it on my phone. However, whenever I delete words on my computer they get deleted from my phone and vice versa. Is there any way to disable this on my computer? This is what my settings look like now:
It seems like other people must not be bothered by this since I can't find anything about it online... but it's driving me nuts. And I've disabled autocorrect in my settings and for the programs I use but it happens no matter what. Is the only solution to this logging my computer out of my iCloud account? I can't believe there is no other way around this...
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi,
Of the items you have left in iCloud that are syncing the "Notes" one might be the most logical.
In some cases items in Accessibility can effects things like this but I see no obvious candidates.
