Can port 25 be used for SSL-enable SMTP server ?
Hi,
Our customer is using port 25 for a SSL-enabled SMTP server without certificate. When our email client tried to connect to it, the following exception thrown:
DEBUG SMTP: exception reading response: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Unrecognized SSL message, plaintext connection?
Since we don't want to ask our customer to change their port configuration unless absolutely necessary, we did some tests with our own SSL-enabled SMTP server that uses certificate. Here is what I got:
1) with port 25, got the same exception as above;
2) with port 465, worked fine;
3) with any other randomly pick up valid port, worked fine.
This made me wonder if 25 is for non SSL SMTP server ONLY. By the way, I'm using Javamail 1.3.4 and JSDK 1.4.2_02. My question is whether we can configure javamail so that port 25 can be used by SSL-enabled SMTP server?
Your help will be appreciated.Yes, port 25 is intended for non-SSL servers only, although that doesn't
prevent a client from making a plain text connection and then using the
STARTTLS command to switch the connection to SSL/TLS. JavaMail 1.4
supports that usage.
You can configure JavaMail to use port 25 for SSL connections if you
really want to. JavaMail 1.3.x requires you configure an appropriate
socket factory to get SSL connections; you can configure whatever port
you want for use with that socket factory. -
Wat is the use of ports those are used for EMconsole
hi all;,
Could anyone please tell me
1. the use of the agent,rmi and jms ports used for the dbconsole?
2. if i block those ports can i use dbconsole?
3. what are all the ports used for the database like listener, dbconsole http, dbconsole agent etc. and use of those.
Thanks & Regards,
Sagar MaramWhat is the use of the rmi and jms ports i mean how those are getting used internally. if block those ports with firewal then wat happend to dbconsole.?They are more appserver related components and to be clear..if the apps and DB are in the same server...then if you block these ports your DBConsole/Appconsole continues to work as long you have not blocked http DBconsole/Appconsole ports...
But if you apps and DB are across network with a firewall between them then there is a possibility some of the functionality might not work but http console should work as long as http console port is opened in the firewall..... -
Which port does Safari use for web browsing directly on Mac
In our intranet network, clients both using proxy or directly connect to internet is OK, but when we disable UDP port upwards 10000, Mac users can not connect to internet without seting proxy, and Windows user is no problem on this. How could this be, wich port does safari use when browsing web
Should be using Port 80 (HTTP).
Here's the list:

What port number is used for SMTP outgoing mail with AOL?
I inadvertently changed the port number for SMTP outgoing mail of AOL. What port number should I use?
Yahoo and Gmail support should be able to help you.
Not related to Firefox support, web mail doesn't use POP or SMTP protocols which is what email clients such as Thunderbird use for communicating with email servers. -
Which ports / protocoll are used for pruning the printers from AD on the printserver
Dear all
Does anyone know, which ports or protocols are used between DomainController and Printserver to prune the printer-queue's?
Regards
MichaelPrint Spooler The Print Spooler system service manages all local and network print queues and controls all print jobs. The print spooler is the center of the Windows printing subsystem and controls all printing jobs. It manages the print queues on the system
and communicates with printer drivers and input/output (I/O) components, for example, the USB port and the TCP/IP protocol suite.
System Service Name Spooler
Application protocol Protocol Port
NetBIOS Session Service TCP 139
SMB TCP 445

Shutdown Ports not in use for a while with EEM Tcl
I have downloaded these 2 Tcl scripts from this previous discussion and from the sounds of it it's exactly what I've been looking for. But the problem is I'm new to EEM and have no idea how to go about putting these on the switches themselves. I've searched for configuration guides but to no prevail. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have a feeling its truncating the good stuff. Is there a way to make it output everything and not truncate the rest of the lines or is that what the onscreen stuff from above is? -
Which ports can i use for port forwarding / port mapping??
Hi,
i have set up one port forward with success but am unable to open any other ports it seems. i am using the following web site to check (http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/) , and no matter what port number i have tried to port forward, it always comes back with the message that this port is not open.
Mabe I just hit the jackpot with the first port (9080)...and maybe it is only possible to forward a single port....however I would welcome any advice out there.
I am using time capsule, and to port forward i am doing following:
port mapping
+ ener name
leave service blank
public udp ports 9000 (example)
public tcp ports 9000
ip address 10.0.1.x
private udp ports 9000
private tcp ports 9000
<continue>
description xxxxx
service name / type - leave blank
<done>

Default netflow port in Prime Infrastructure 1.3
Is there any way to change the default port Prime Infrastructure Assurance 1.3 listens for Netflow on from 9991 to 9996?
I don't think so.
The PI 1.3 docs are pretty silent on Assurance but the Prime Assurance Manager 1.1 Quick Start Guide notes that port 9991 must be open for the Netflow Data Receiver -
What ports are used for handshaking signals?
I want to use Handshaking Digital I/O on an AT-MIO-16DE-10, and I want to know if there are extra digital I/O lines used for this, or if there are independant handshaking connections. I can't seem to find any documentation which warns that you can only get 7 bits out of a port if you use handshaking. Or you can only use ports 2,3,4 because port 0 is used for the handshaking signals.
Any hints would be appreciated.Great, actually, I found this information, and would like to re state my question. Now that I know what ports I should be using (this is described in detail in the hardware manual for the E series), I would like to see some definite information about what I must do in my external device to make use of these signals.
I'm a little confused by some comments in the documentation that some of the facilities of Port C (on the 8255) are only avialable if I use register level commands (as if using the parallel port). If I use the DIG_Prt_Config and set to handshaking (input) on a port, then I assume I set up my external hardware as if Port C was in Mode 1(input), and then follow the timing described in the E Series manual.
It's just a shame that everything o
n the PC side is well described, but there are no application notes that I can find about building an external device that can use the handshaking signals.
If 'you' (anyone) can confirm what my assumptions, or point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it greatly.
Thank you.

Port Number Used For Downloading
I'm having a problem downloading from certain sites.
My broadband provider wants me to find out what port number I use for downloading.
How do I find out?Do you have a link to a site that won't download? It's really dependent on what they use.
If it's http generally port 80, if ftp then many ports, Active FTP vs. Passive FTP, a Definitive Explanation...

Cannot add WLC 5508 v7.6.120.0 into Prime Infrastructure 2.1
Hi everyone
Hope you can help us with this issue.
We already configure the WLC using this guide: http://mrncciew.com/2013/02/14/configuring-snmp-on-wlc/
snmp v2: enable
snmp v1: enable
default port values
community: incaenic with ip and mask 0.0.0.0 to allow access from any network or ip
traps receiver: community: incaenic ip: 10.100.100.15
when we try to discover the WLC with the PI it gave the error "SNMP Connectivity Fail"
WLC is on subnet 10.100.102.0/24 and PI in 10.100.100.0/24; there is a Catalyst 3850 between then with no access list on then.
Did someone can guide us with this?
Best Regards.
Alvaro RugamaHi,
Which version of SNMP are you using?
If you are using v1/v2 you should be using community string rather than local database credentials?
Regarding the service port what is the ip address assigned on the service port. From the configuration guide "Prime Infrastructure uses the preferred management IP address from the loop back interface. If the device does not have a loopback interface, Prime Infrastructure uses similar logic to the OSPF algorithm to select the router’s preferred management IP address."
Hope that helps.

Cisco Prime Infrastructure Compatibility
Hi
I have been informed by our supplier that i cannot add-
Nexus switches
Routers
Into the switches list in Cisco Prime Infrastructure Version 2.0
However we seem to have one Fabric SVI 'Managed and Sychronized'
So i dont know whether i should or should not be able to add 7ks
and 5ks to the switch list
Anyone any ideas on this -- the official line seems to be no... if thats true then how did we
get the one 7l on and managed
SteveYou mention a fabric SVI. Note that the FabricPath and other data center-specific technology features are for the most part not managed by PI. Prime DCNM is the tool for that.
You can use PI to manange 7ks and 5k's as standard switches - backup their configs, poll them with SNMP queries, collect syslog messages etc.

Considering to buy a white or black iPad Air 128 gb
...which one should I pick? I'd normally just buy the black, as I know it's less prone to color distortion, but are the white iPads prone to color distortion now? I remember iPad 2 white colored being prone to it.
