List of  "qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card"

The CS5 system requirements says "qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card", is there a list of cards or more directly, does an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro qualify? If not, will CS5 still work and if so, what are the penalties? I am thinking of upgrading but want to know if it is worth it.

Sounds like a mid 2007 iMac. That had 256 MB of VRAM, so you should be OK

Thanks, just so I know we are talking about the same items please let me know - When you say "run Prokit" do you mean downloaded? Which I did. I dont have Prokit 4.0.1 if you are referring to that, do I need this first? Please explain what application name I am looking for if other than Prokit which is sitting in my "download folder" do I need to manually put it into the apps folder? Sorry if the questions are layman but this area is not a very strong point for me. Thanks for your help so far.

  • Does CS5 require a discrete graphics card?

My computer has a Core 2 Duo and 3GB of memory, but only onboard graphics. The CS5 Design Premium system requirements include "qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card, 16-bit colour, and 256MB VRAM". Does this mean I cannot run CS5? Or does it just mean that if I want the benefits of a graphics card, the card must meet those requirements?
I expected to be able to answer this question myself with a bit of web searching, but haven't been able to! Thanks in advance.

Thanks Bob, I'll go ahead and try it. As it happens, Photoshop is the part of the suite I anticipate using the least.
It's a shame the literature is unclear, though — I understand "requirements" to mean exactly that: a minimal specification without which the software will refuse to install. A graphics card could be on a separate "recommended" list.

  • Graphic card advise

    Hi
I work on a 8 core Mac 2.8 GHZ with 10 GB ram and a Nvidia Geforce 8800GT with 512 mb
I have many cad file imported from step 3 into Maya.
But around 400 mb Maya brake down...
Is it the Graphic card (512 mb memory) or ??
Do I have to by a Nvidia Quadro fx5600 to get the job don?
I think I need about 1.5 GB to finish all the import.
    I need some good advise

Who does OpenGL better right now on Mac Pro? Radeon 3870? 8800GT?
Do you need a $2800 graphic csrd?
THE ELEPHANT IS OUT OF THE CORNER
As you can see, we were able to obtain a Quadro FX 5600 thanks to our friends at AppleMacanix. As can see above, it offers no advantage over the GeForce 8800 GT costing one-tenth as much.
However, the Quadro FX 5600 does feature more video memory than the GeForce 8800 GT (1.5GB vs 512MB). And, according to one Maya guru, the extra memory (and superior memory management code) of the Quadro workstation cards becomes useful for frame buffering in apps like Maya. This is especially true for redraw of multiple views of the same complex 3D model.
This has been enhanced further by Quadro FX 5600's new integrated memory allocation which allows the card to dynamically allocate on-board RAM to whatever task is at hand rather than have specific hard wired allocations. So rather than say a maximum of 40% of total on-board RAM dedicated to the texture buffer the card can ramp up and down from 80% sharing with the immediate needs of the other buffers.

the Radeon HD 3870 beats the GeForce 8800 GT in Core Image performance needed for Apple's Pro Apps. That's why we recommend the Radeon HD 3870 Mac & PC Edition as the best overall graphics card.

I want to make sure it will be fully functional with Maya 2008 unlimited, especially with rendering. I want to get a card that is tested by autodesk, so I checked their qualification charts.
They have "blessed" the following cards as not having any problems with the most up to date version of Maya 2008 with MAC OS X 10.5.2: Quadro FX 4500, Quadro FX 5600, GeForce 7300 GT, GeForce 7600 GT, GeForce 8600M GT........ and for ATI cards: Radeon X1600, and Radeon 9600 Pro.

I would try the Radeon 3870 first. I think it 'could' be the 8800GT as even lesser cards are listed as being supported, some with less memory even. Apple doesn't even list the FX, you'd have to buy one elsewhere I guess.

  • Recommendations for graphics card update

I have a dual processor 867MHz MDD G4 and am thinking of putting in a better graphics card - primarily to (a) see the transparent menu bar in Leopard and (b) improve performance by using any available hardware acceleration on the card instead of CPU clock cycles.
    Any recommendations please?

    Hi-
The ATI Technologies RADEON 9800 PRO MAC EDITION 4x AGP graphics card will give you the performance boost you're looking for. Core Image and Quartz Extreme are supported with this card, which are needed for embedded OS effects.

  • Which graphics card Ati or Nvidia?

I am looking at PrE 9 but don't have a graphics card, only a chipset.
I'm wondering if any current Nvidia card would work with PrE 9? Are Ati cards good or are they less compatible?
Can you recommend one that isn't too expensive?
    Thanks.

Elements does not offer hardware acceleration, so any card will work that will fit your motherboard
ATI costs less than nVidia (in general) and I would recommend at least 512Meg of memory on the card

  • How do I remove the graphics card of my computer from the blacklist?

I want to activate Adobe Flash Player hardware acceleration, but my card is blacklisted, and reproduces any other content without any instability, but she was put on the blacklist, and not is because, and not worked before in older versions, but with new versions already content. Work me for example in KMplayer as it should work. But not in Flash Player, and would like to activate hardware acceleration, since not being activated the system slows down and content is badly reproduced. The content becomes slow, and has low FPS, so it is apparently delayed.

  • Supported Graphics Card?

I am considering upgrading from Final Cut Express HD to Final Cut Pro X. My MacBook pro is a few years old, and so I've been checking carefully to see about compatability. Can anyone tell me for sure whether or not this graphics card is supported: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB. Thank you!

Thank you. I had previously read the technical requirements, but what prompted my question was this listing at the end:
The following graphics card is OpenCL compatible but does not meet  the VRAM system requirement for  Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Compressor 4.

    Shipped In
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 128MB of GDDR3 SDRAM and dual-link DVI
I have the same graphics card, but with 256MB. Would this make any difference?

  • Adobe Premiere Pro - Crashing with OpenCL Hardware Acceleration on Export

    Hey everybody,
One of the major reasons I decided to buckle down and pay for PPCC was the OpenCL Hardware acceleration with AMD cards. I run two AMD Radeon 7870s in Crossfire right now, and I immediately noticed a huge difference in performance when editing. When it came time to export my video, though, Premiere Pro would crash after rendering around 2% of the full video. I've tried both with and without Crossfire activated but using OpenCL with Hardware acceleration crashed my export no matter what. As soon as I turned it back to regular Mercury Playback (software only), the project rendered just fine.
I currently have the lastest AMD drivers and have had no other issues with my card, and I also gave PPCC the latest update as well. Any idea why this might be happening? I wouldn't be surprised if I need to wait for a latest AMD driver in order to get things to work with the brand new CC apps, but I figured I'd farm my question out here just in case. I'm running on Windows 8 64 bit.

Yes. I have problems with my new AMD 1950 3GB. I creat 2h 20 min project on premiere cc and put on all material color correction. NO lumetri. Premiere crache on export about 1h after working.
I was editing AVCHD material and export from presets to Blu-Ray H264 and mpeg2 with the same result.

When I switch to my old card - nvidia - GTX470 everything just go fine and my export is finish perfectly.
I was using beta driver from amd 13.4.
It is confusing because I bought that card especially for Premiere CC, and I was thinking to bought second one, and maybe more...

  • New graphics card not working in old Pavilion elite

Hey, so i bought a new graphics card, ASUS strix 750ti oc ed., when i plug it in to my Pavilion elite hpe 531sc i get a blue screen with the hp logo and a text saying 'press esc for startup menu' or something like that. Pressing esc does nothing, pressing any other button does me nothing either.
I tried plugging in the old graphics card, it still sort of works except i cant really play games or get my resolution above 800x600, and install the drivers and all for the new graphics card. But the new graphics card still dont work when plugged back in.
So im at a loss here, is my desktop simply too old or something?

Seeing alot of postings about trying that card.  See this thread on a possible solution:

  • HP nw9440 Graphics Card Problem

Hello AllI'm a proud (and patient) owner of a HP nw9440 Mobile Workstation. A great laptop, Core2Duo 2GHz+, 4Gb RAM, 160Gb HDD. Still up to spec and flying if it weren't for a well known issue with the graphic card. It has an nVidia QUADRO FX 1500m graphics card. A great one, good specs, but the last avaliable driver was released in 2007 for Vista. Aincient technology.I've found numerous threads on is there a driver, how to obtain a driver, etc, etc, WHAT TO DO???!!!. :-) but not a single answer. So, let's summarise:1. There are no drivers avaliable for modern OS (Windows 7 and later, no Linux driver as well).2. There's a rumor you can force-install a Vista driver, but very likely Microsoft Update will blow it up with their own anyway next time you run Update.3. There's also a rumor you can force-install a driver from some GeForce Go 7 series with the same core (G71GLM).4. Both HP and nVidia deny responsibility for providing a working driver.  Since nobody wants to do anything, the last economicaly feasible thing to do is to change the graphics card to a similar but both compatible and with drivers for Windows 7 and/or Windows 8 That brings us to the real question: what is the list of compatible and/or recommended graphics cards for HP nw9440 Mobile Workstation laptop? Could you please provide it? Alternatively, could you please provide a working Windows 7 driver for Quadro FX 1500m? Even an OEM/WHQL one. Something that would work at all? Thank you.

Hi: This is a peer to peer forum.  No one representing HP responds to any posts made here on behalf of the company. HP does not support that model for W7 and at this point in time, since they have not developed any W7 drivers for that model, they never will. I tell people to manually install the Vista driver and no one has reported that didn't work just fine. As for windows update...if it shows a graphics driver update, then uncheck it, right click on it and hide the update and you won't have to be concerned with it anymore. To manually install the Vista graphics driver. Download and run this file.  You will most likely get an unsupported operating system error.  Close out of any error windows. This package contains the NVIDIA Graphics driver for the listed notebook models and operating systems. File name: sp34799.exe Go to the device manager.  Click on the video controller (or standard VGA adapter) needing the driver. Click on the driver tab.  Click on update driver.  Select the browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file. That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34799.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install. Then reboot.

Thank you for replying. I had no idea I had a response. It is a Windows 7 Home Premium. The game is actually now a few different ones for my child, Baby Luv, Brave & Disney Princesses. None of them will work. I have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 graphics card in this (Compaq Presario All-In-One Desktop PC) and I just posted another question in the forum about wanting to know if I can replace the grahics card with a HD card and if so how? I have looked online but can't find an answer. Is it possible to replace the card or with it being an all-in-one is it not possible? Thank you.

  • Yosemite crashes several times a day from graphic card issue (photoshop cc hardware acceleration incompatability?)

Well. just like the title says.
Since upgrading to Yosemite, my MacBook Retina (1st gen) has been freezing (along with a very clear degradation in performance, but that's a whole different issue) several times a day.
When restarting, the system tells me it was due to some problem originating in the graphics processor. I believe this is a incompatibility with Photoshop's hardware acceleration settings. I'm running the latest version of Adobe Photoshop CC, and it doesn't solve the problem.
Should I simply turn off hardware acceleration and embrace the resulting loss of performance? Does anyone else experienced the same problem?

    Hi jolino,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with Yosemite on your MacBook Pro. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact circumstances surrounding these freezes, as well as the exact error message you are seeing when your machine comes back up. If you are having intermittent but reoccuring hard system freezes or crashes/restarts across multiple applications, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

  • How to: enable 3D acceleration for Savage IX/MV graphic cards

    'lo all,
I'm trying out Arch Linux and this my first post on this forum. Here is my solution for a hardware configuration issue. This was also posted on the Ubuntu forums.
    Regards
Satellite Pro 4280 laptops come with a S3 Savage IX/MV graphics card with 8MB onboard ram - not enough for 24 bit 3D acceleration. These use the xf86-video-savage driver. To enable 3D acceleration, you need to reduce the colour depth to 16 bit but the X auto configuration defaults to 24 bit.
To get round this I created a Xorg.conf using the command 'Xorg -configure' and then 'cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf' (following the Arch Linux beginners guide).
After hours of google searches and repeated attempts to modify the Xorg.conf to set the colour depth to 16, I finally stumbled upon the required modification:
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Card0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultColorDepth 16
    SubSection "Display"
    ****rest of Xorg.conf******
Adding DefaultColorDepth 16 at that point in the Xorg.conf worked. Ran X and no errors occured in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log and the DRI [3D acceleration] was enabled.
Those xorg.conf files are a nightmare: I don't understand how X can have varying xorg.conf layouts/instructions/commands between graphics cards. It was by trial and error I got this to work.
I've yet to actually test out the 3D acceleration as I'm still installing programs to my Arch Linux. I'll probably try out a screen saver that uses openGL.

I can now get a good 400fps if I run glxgears as root.
For my attempt to get 3D acceleration to work for users, I ammended the xorg.conf to include Section "DRI" and Group "video" [see the xorg.conf link below]. I included video to the user's group but the glxgears fps remained at 40fps. [*update* after a restart or something, it finally decided to give 400fps as user! , the configuration files below remain unchanged]
    Hardware:            Toshiba Satellite Pro 4280
    Graphics card:     S3 Savage IX-MV
    Driver:                  xf86-video-savage

    /etc/X11/xorg.conf

    http://paste.pocoo.org/show/219723/
    /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
    http://paste.pocoo.org/show/219725/
There are some error messages not found in the above logs that are posted on the screen when I quit openbox:
