List Of Serious ISSUES after 2.0 download. NEED HELP!

I just downloaded 2.0, as I wanted the havock I read about to settle before I changed over.
I am having what I would consider Serious problems that I hope someone can assist with. I have the original 4Gig phone.
1. When I type an email or text message now there is a major lag from when I push a button to when it registers. It is almost UNUSABLE for my work email.
2. When I hit an old application, like texting, contact list, etc... It takes a really long time to come up. When it does come up, scrolling is un responsive.
3. My Sync takes FOREVER now. I did a sync this morning and it took 45 Mins. I have a 4 Gig phone...there is NO WAY it should take that long.
Any one know what's wrong?

Does your computer have USB 1.1 or USB 2 ports (the G4 came in both configurations). Backup under 2.0 is much more complete, so if it's 1.1 that would explain the long backup time.

The landscape feature on iphone doesn't work after OS 7 download.  How do i fix it?!

Swipe up from the bottom.  Control center should cover about 2/3 of the screen.  At the top right of control center is a circle with a lock in it.  If that lock is closed, tap to open it.

  • Serious issues after recent updates this weekend

Hey guys, Recently i upgraded to leopard with a clean install, ran GREAT for about 1.5 weeks i hadnt updated from apple through softwareupdate yet untill saturday of this past weekend, since then i would have multiple pixels going crazy on screen, or lines would appear all the way across the screen, then the computer would lock up and only the trackpad would respond. Id restart it, and it would be stable for 10 mins, then do the same thing over again. Finally last night it just locked up after pixels and video freaking out for a good 30 mins on and off. Now when i try to boot i get the gray screen with a folder and question mark located in the middle. I should mention earlier when i encountered this problem i figured id reinstall leopard. so i archived and installed, problem persisted. My mbp is a little over a year old. 2 gigs of ram 2.16 all from apple.
thanks for any help guys, im clueless as what to do
im getting sick of having apple issues from everything to my ipod touch, iphone, macbook pro batteries and now the laptop.

Thankyou very much kappy for the quick reply, you give me hope, this will be the first thing i try when i get home. I forgot to mention i also suffer from missing various keystrokes and what not. When i ran the disk utility to check the condition of the disk it locks up. When i repaired permissions multiple errors were shown that were not corrected.
Thanks again kappy! i will be back with a result

  • Serious issues after Yosemite 10.10.1 update

Amazing.  The latest series of updates from Apple continue to be exceptionally poor in terms of quality...

Just updated to 10.10.1.  Now, the dock will not display, the Command Tab key combination will not switch apps, the Control Option Esc key combination will not bring up the "Force Quit" dialog box. If I hide a program, the only way to get back to it is by opening it from the Applications folder again (the program is still running, but there is no way to get to it except by re-double-clicking the app icon).
How does one back this update off my machine?

These are not the faults in the installer. Those all work fine on my three machines as they do on many others. You have a malfunctioning system. I suggest:
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
    Reinstall the 10.10.1 update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
    Reinstall the 10.10.1 update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Serious issue after Migration Assistant

    Hi all-
Looking for feedback as to what in **** might be going on with my MacBook Pro and how to proceed with it.
Last weekend I bought a 27" iMac for my home office. For various reasons I did not transfer data from my laptop at the time of setup, but the next night.
When I went to use Migration Assistant (after reading a bit on here about it), everything went fine until I actually entered the code the network code the iMac gave me and tried to start the transfer. The MacBook Pro wouldn't respond; the iMac told me it wasn't responding, and the MBP wouldn't quit Migration Assistant. Even after waiting an hour, Migration Assistant was still frozen, so I did a "hard" power off with the power button.
When I went to restart, the drive started, startup chimed, but the screen stayed black. I had to leave for work, so hard-turned it off again and left it alone. When I returned to it last night, I got past the black screen but it would stay in grey screen for around 7-8 minutes, then alternated every 10-15 seconds between a light blue screen with the spinning spokes wheel (not rainbow) and a slightly darker blue window with no spokes. It went back and forth like this for maybe 5 minutes, so I shut the MBP off again and went through the whole process a second time with the same result.
Since I live almost 4 hours from the nearest Apple Store, and Support was closed, I used my Snow Leopard disk to repair permissions - there were a lot of repairs. I then repaired disk, and was told the disk was fine. I restarted, same grey-light blue-dark blue issues, so reinstalled Snow Leopard.
After the OS reinstall, everything restarted and worked fine! I did a software update, then on the second software update (which as I recall was just java and iTunes) things went south again. When I restarted after the second software update the screen did the black thing again. Keys are lighting up, chime happens, but no screen.
The other thing that is different this time is that the green light on the power cable is not lighting up and I cannot seem to boot to the Snow Leopard disk, so I can't even get back to the post-OS-reinstall-pre-software-update stage again to get my data off the machine.
Not sure what to do next! This sound like a clear-cut issue of the X or the Y to anyone? Any feedback is appreciated.
    With blessings,
    Matthew

Did you use Setup Assistant when your new Mac first started up, or skip that, create a user account, then use the Migration Assistant app in your Applications/Utilties folder?
If you used Setup Assistant, when you started your first backup you should have gotten the message in #B5 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting.  It sounds like you didn't (or chose Start New Backup).  And no, the Leopard procedure doesn't work on Snow Leopard.  That's what #B5 is for.
Usually, if you use Setup Assistant, Time Machine will still say it's going to do a full backup, and make room for it, but actually do an incremental backup (very, very slowly).
Either way, it usually deletes a lot of old backups.    We're hoping that will be fixed in Lion.
Once it's decide to make a new backup, there's no known way to prevent it.

  • Serious Issues after update, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Two nights ago i did a software update. Shut the computer down everything was fine. Im not sure the software update worked properly. When i restarted the computer later that evening, all i got was the gray screen with the apple. A friend was searching forums for me over the internet while we were trying to fix it. Did the CTRL OPTION R P thing and that didnt work. Did the CTRL S and that didnt work. Next day went and bought a Snow Leapord cd. After three hours the status bar moved appx 3/4 of an inch. Took it to apple. They wiped the Hardrive clean and reinstalled Snow Leapord to it. Now it restarts and operates. However, it takes about 15 min for it to start up and get to the desktop and it runs TERRIBLY slow. It has a 500g hard drive that was put in 2 weeks ago. It also has 2g of RAM. After taking it to apple it is only showing 1.5G of RAM after the wiped the hard drive. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! Everything was working fabulous prior to 2 nights ago.

Well I just rewiped the hardrive clean and reinstalled snow leapord. IT WORKED!!!!!! Computer is running fast as could be, start ups in less than 30 seconds, no lagging. Im really happy as i bought this computer from a good friend and its less than a week since ive had it. I think ill just live with the ram still showing 1.5g. I think ill wait and just go get 2 4g sticks when i get around to it that way It will be as fast as possible and ill be using the ports to their full potential.

  • Experiencing strange performance issues after a hard drive failure - Help!

I bought my mid-2012 i5 Macbook Pro in December of 2012. I realized when shopping for computers that I wanted an SSD installed, but that it would be a lot cheaper if I bought the SSD and installed it rather than customizing it in the Apple Store. So I bought a nice Samsung 128GB SSD (820 or 840 - can't remember which) and did the installation. I went ahead and installed two 4GB sticks of RAM while I was at it. Everything was just dandy: my boot time was just under 9 seconds, and all of my data-heavy apps booted in no-time at all. Then all **** broke loose.
About two weeks ago, I opened my computer and I got the dreaded "? File Folder" notification with a gray screen. I immediately thought hard drive failure. No matter how many times I tried to boot, the computer just would not talk to the SSD anymore. I used Internet Recovery to get into my Disk Utility, and the entire partition was gone. I assumed the worst but wanted to be sure - I bought a hard drive enclosure and hooked the SSD up to an older Macbook, and lo and behold: it worked perfectly. I was not only able to recover data, but I could write data to the drive. Nothing appeared wrong with the drive when I plugged it into the old Macbook, but my newer Macbook still would not recognize it. Even my fiance's Windows 7 PC recognized the drive as "?" (since it was formatted for Mac, but hey - it recognized that it existed!).
I decided to re-install the original HDD that came with the 2012 Macbook Pro (the one I removed in favor of the SSD). I was able to re-install the OS and I can boot up at will, but everything is different. The performance issues are extremely noticeable. I can't have more than two programs running at one time without the spinning wheel of death appearing. My boot time went from 9 seconds to 2 minutes. I know that SSDs increase performance, so there is some slight performance downgrade to be expected since I am using a mechanical drive now -- but these are not normal issues. Sometimes I can't even type a web address into Safari without the wheel appearing. iTunes, and specifically the App Store, take minutes to open - and I have no media is on iTunes.
Here's the thing: I have tried just about anything to fix this problem that Google can pull up. I've verified the HDD, I've booted into Safe Mode, reset RAM and cache, run benchmarks and other performance tests, entered all sorts of weird language into Command Prompt, and studied Activity Monitor - I can't find a single red flag that would indicate anything being wrong. It appears to be a perfectly functioning, updated computer.
I'm thinking a piece of hardware failed that triggered the error with the SSD. I'm not really sure though since all of my performance tests indicate perfectly functioning hardware. I'm a little afraid to take it to the Apple store because I know they'll tell me it's my fault for opening the computer and replacing the hard drive in the first place.
Any ideas? At this point anything to salvage this computer would be helpful.

    Spin Cycle,
were those other computers which were able to recognize your SSD in its external enclosure also Macs? Do you know if your SSD has its most recent firmware revision installed? (If it doesn’t, its installer can be downloaded from the Samsung SSD firmware page for burning onto a bootable DVD.) I haven’t used the 830 myself, so I don’t know what its reputation is with Macs. I have an 840 PRO in my MacBook Pro, which has been trouble-free for me, but my understanding is that the 840 EVO has had trouble with Macs in its earlier firmware revisions — so I’m wondering if the 830 has a known track record with Macs, good or bad.

  • Sound ballsup after automatic upgrades download please help!

This afternoon my MacBook Pro downloaded several upgrades, no idea what. Now the sound input and output comes out of the main speakers instead of my Everyman (Skype) headset. I've been to System Preferences>Sound and clicked on Everyman, but no go.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Open Disk Utility (in your Utilities folder in your Applications folder) and select your hard drive by brand name. Go to the First Aid tab and repair permissions. If there are a lot of permissions to repair, repeat. You may be left with a few that do not repair.
Downloading software changes permissions. So it's generally good practice to repair them after software downloads.
    Good luck!

  • All of you who use the 80gb ipod classic and have problems with it freezing and syncing with itunes...well I have joined the club. This is a serious issue with apple and they need to correct it. I have tried everything to no avial.

This is beyond frustrating. I just wasted 70 dollars between a new battery and gas for my ipod 80gb classic. It was having major issues syncing and freezing with itunes. I tried everything possible and noticed that a lot of people have been having the same issues with their ipod classics as well. I must have restored it several times and now it just totally bit the dust. Now I have to shell out 130 dollars to send it in to apple to be rebuilt/fixed. This is nonsense and I just cant believe apple isn't doing anything to address this issue. My ipod was doing great for about nearly 5 years and now  this. I even down-graded to itunes 10.7, but by the time I had it set up to try, that's when my ipod totally failed and will not even come on. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • Having some serious issues with my iPhone and need some advice

I'm going to these two issues which have been occuring with me for the past weeks-
1.) I am facing a problem with my iPhone 5's lightning port or the cable. This started happening all of a sudden; one second my phone is charging, and the other it is not. Even if it is slightly moved from its position, it would stop charging, and further shaking starts it again, so on and so forth. At first I thought the issue might be with my cable, so I asked my friend to bring his lightning cable to my house so we could test that. It happened again- one shake the phone will charge, another shake stops it. (Note that any kind of movement does this, not only shaking) I'm a bit skeptical about his (my friend's) cable too, though- it shows NOT CHARGING on his iPad while it is in fact actually charging. His cable is only 3-4 weeks old though, so this confuses me even more. I think the issue might be with my port, but as of now I cannot draw a valid conclusion to my problem.
2.) The second problem is that I've noticed my battery drains a **** lot faster now- ever since the first issue started. I manage to get my phone charging by placing it very carefully on the table and it charges overnight. However, when I pick it up in the morning, and read some news, it drains from 100% to 99% in ~60 seconds. This never happened before. Before this, it used to be at 100% for at least 10-15 minutes (might be even more). If I reboot my phone, it shows 100% again, but it still drains a lot faster now. I know because I've been using this phone for the past 4 months now, and I know when it drains and when it does nots
Please, help! I need some advice as to how I should approach this problem. My phone is in the warranty period, however, I would like to have an expert's opinion first.

    Hello,
First: I've experienced the same problem with my iPhone 5. I've bought a new charger and it still did the same thing. I went to the Apple Store to get my iPhone checked out and they said that the pins inside my iPhone we're damaged, and I had to get a replacement.
