List of suported USB printers for AP-Express

HI, can some one help me in finding an official list of supported usb printers for AP-Express? I have two printers and none of them works. I am thinking of buying new one, but only if I will be able to print via AE....( Canon i-SENSYS MF4730) is the one I would like to purchace. Thanks for any answer.

Unfortunately, Apple does not provide a list of supported printers with USB connections.
And....even IF a printer might be supported with USB printing, other advanced features like copy, scan maintenance, etc will not be supported if you have an All-in-One type of device.
If you want full functionality with an All-in-One device, then be sure to buy a device that connects to the network using either an Ethernet or wireless connection.

  • Two USB printers on one Express?

Is it possible to run two USB printers from my Express? I've tried it with an HP 1012 and an Epson C60. The computer will choose one (usually the first one turned on) and won't see the other.

    Only one can work.

  • Recomended USB Printers for Airport Extreme

I have heard and read several good things about the Airport Extreme that I am now planning on purchasing one. Before I do though, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of the best or better USB printers that are compatible with Aiport Extreme AND a PC/Windows/XP client.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Well, from what I saw today while installing my Cannon Pixma MP160 he found it at once and there is quite list of devices that are supported.I presume that recently new devices are in the list.As for the not taking MFP I can only say that may Cannon is MFP.Yes, I cannot use scan, only print. But I firmly believe that apple will correct this flaw

  • How do I select NAD USB Audio for Airport Express

I want to pay iTunes from iMac to airport express, optical cable input to NAD 375BEE integrated amp.  It requires I turn on NAD USB Audio on Mac.   Any suggestions?

I doubt it. All that should be required is to select the remote speakers using the icon to the right of the volume control (in iTunes 11).
It doesn't make a difference whether you use the Express's optical or analog audio output. The streaming audio is not being sent to a USB port.

iTunes only syncs to Apple devices.
Assuming the media is not DRM protected, any of the media can be dragged and dropped from iTunes onto other drives (external, flash, etc) as the user chooses.

  • Printer recommendations for airport express

    Hi all,
I posted a question regarding printer compatibility with airport express. I already bought two and both were glitchy. I am trialing a canon s520 with the view of buying the new model. I put up a post, and got a lot of answers. Unfortunately some say one thing and some say the other. I have noticed that when there is a serious issue with apple equipment, the answers become garbled like this. BTW the s520 hangs a lot. So canon is out. Best advice i got from a couple of posts was dont both with wireless printing via AE. Buy a printer with its own wireless set up.
Dont get me wrong, i love the discussion groups and the advice i get.
    My question is this..
Does airport express really work PROPERLY for wireless printing. I thought is was great feature. Would love to continue using it. But since tiger, i seem to have had a lot of time wasting problems. Is apple losing it... And surely they must have a list of recommended printers to work with AE.

    My question is this..
Does airport express really work PROPERLY for
    wireless printing.
Yes I have managed to get various printers working PROPERLY with my Airport base stations.
And surely they must have a list
of recommended printers to work with AE.
    There is the unofficial list.
The iFelix unofficial Airport Extreme and Airport Express Printer Compatibility List
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1013.html
This is an unofficial list of USB printers which are are compatible with the AirPort Extreme Base Station and Airport Express. Printers in bold have been added to the original list that Apple provided. Printers in dark red are in fact the only printers I have personally tested.
Please also note that due to changes in the firmware of both the Airport Extreme base station and the introduction of the Airport Express some printers which are in this list may no longer in fact be compatible.

  • USB printer on Airport Express via Bonjour: print queue no longer works

This is a variation of similar postings on this forum, but hopefully provides more information to allow others to pinpoint the problem.
Have been using Intel iMac 10.4.8 now upgraded to 10.4.10. Two printers attached: 1 via USB and a 2nd via USB/Bonjour on Airport Express. Both working flawlessly. 2 days ago, an ADSL Internet outage occurred. When this was reestablished an hour or so later, everything was back to normal, EXCEPT that the USB/Bonjour/Airport printer no longer works. When jobs are sent to it, the printer queue stops and a red "!" appears in the dock on the queue. Restarting the queue just brings back the red "!" again.
Have done all the usual things:
    1. Checked cables, restarted iMac, restarted printer, reset Airport.
    2. Have confirmed the printer works find if moved to a direct USB port. So the problem is not the printer.
    3. Have upgraded the Airport firmware to 6.3. Works just fine as a network access point. So the problem is not the Airport itself.
    4. Have deleted, added the printer, renamed the printer - none of these things helped (this was suggested by some postings on the forum)
    5. Have tried every combination of which item is powered up first (this was suggested by some postings on this forum)
Have confirmed (by checking CUPS Error Log, as well as by Internet Connection Diagnostics) that the problem is that the iMac can no longer connect to the printer when printing on the local host if it is connected via USB/Bonjour/Airport. However, it can find the printer for adding a printer during setup. So Bonjour is working, but the printing is not.
There are lots of similar postings of people having problems with printers previously working, but then stopping working on an Airport Expresss/Extreme. I hope the above scenario, which is a very simple network topology, and the fact that the iMac and printer and Airport all work correctly on their own, is of help. It does look as if the problem is in the Airport Extreme, and was triggered by the WAN outage, and not fixed by printer reinstallation or firmware upgrade.
Looking forward to someone with a clever suggestion...
    LeslieB

What did you use to discover the printers on both Mac and PC. Did you use Bonjour for both?

  • Using USB hubs on airport express

I discovered that by using an airport express with the 802.11n network (most recent update model as of this post) is capable of using a third party USB hub for multiple printers. I have an all in one EPSON as well as a wide format EPSON and two DYMO thermal printers. All work fine using the Kensignton PocketHub 7-Port USB which includes an AC adaptor to power devices. I previously had an older Airport express on 802.11g network that could only handle a single printer and was NOT able to support the USB hub. I hope this helps anyone that is searching for network solutions.

    Hi spwolfman,
Thanks for posting this, this is exactly what I was needed to know, as I need to make 2 usb-based printers wireless.
    I have 3 addtional questions........
    1) You mentioned you have a powered USB hub. Do you need a powered hub to make this work?
    2) Are there any special settings that need to be made to get this to work, or is it straightforward in the airport setup utility?
    3) I have a Linksys Wireless-G hub, will the 802.11n airport express work with this hub?
    Thanks

  • I can't find my printers on Airport Express

    HP 2600n Printer
    Brother 4050CDN
When I first set it up it found them and I could print.
Then they went offline and I can find them again.  NOTHING comes up.

How they connected? For instance, the HP has both USB and Ethernet interfaces. Surely you're not connecting / disconnecting their USB cables from the Express every time you want to print... using your MacBook Air? Why do that when you could just as easily plug the USB cable into the Air?
I'm sure your difficulty could be fixed, but given your apparent setup the ideal situation would be to permanently wire the printers with Ethernet. After all the MBA and Express are highly portable, while the printers are highly not.
Invest in a wired router (like the Extreme) or an inexpensive switch, and forget about USB.

  • Can you connect VIA USB port on Airport Express?

I have a Airport Express and have the ethernet port used already. Is is possible to use the USB port to hard wire a computer to the Express? I know it meant for a printer but dont need it for that use.

Sorry, but no. The USB port on the AirPort Express is designed to only support USB printers.

  • USB printers are missing

I have lost my Canon ip6600D printer from my list of printers, and have the also lost the ability to view USB printers. The printer works fine on a windows XP machine and the USB ports work fine with other devices.
When I go discover the printer via the Printer Browser, I am not able to list USB printers (let alone the Canon),only AppleTalk, Bluetooth, Windows Printing & canon BJ Network are listed as options.
When I open system profiler under the USB node the printer is identified, under the printer node it is not.
Having looked through other posting, i have
    1. "Reset Printing System" from the Printer Setup Utility's main menu
    2. uninstall the drivers already present, restarted and reinstalled the driver, then run Disk Utility -> Repair Permissions immediately after finishing install before the restar
    3. Using Pacifist I have re-installed the Printer Setup utility
Has anyone else found this problem? and if so have you been able to find a solution.

I have just tried this for a user with admin privileges and one without, unfortunately with no success.
Thanks for trying, any other ideas?

  • Time Capsule and Two USB Printers via hub?

Will Time Capsule work with two USB printers attached? I was going to attach two USB printers to a Time Capsule via a USB hub. I tried to do that in the past with an AirPort Express and that hardware will only work with one printer. I was told that AE Base Stations did work with multiple printers. Will a TC?

Yes. If it's a powered USB hub, that should work and you should see two printers listed under the Printers tab in AirPort Utility (manual setup). Some users have reported issues with certain hubs, but as I have no experience with this I can't recommend one that will work.

iTunes never displays the iPod in the left pane?
iTunes is shipped with a "helper application" called the "iPod Service" that runs and is used by iTunes to communicate with the iPod device. This service may be disabled.
If your system is Microsoft Windows XP and you are logged in as an Administrator:
    1. Quit iTunes and, if your iPod is currently connected to your computer, safely remove it using the system tray application to manage removable devices.
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Manage"
    4. In the "Computer Management" window, left pane (tree view), follow this path:
    +Computer Management (local) > Services and Applications > Services+.
    5. In the right pane, scroll down to "iPod Service" and double click it.
    6. If the service is listed as "Disabled" and "Stopped," change to "Manual" and "Start" it. ("Manual" will cause it to start when iTunes starts and "Start" starts the service right now.)
    7. Close "Computer Management"
    8. Restart iTunes and wait for it to completely come up.
    9. Reconnect your iPod.
Does your iPod show up in iTunes?
