List of Temp files to be delete/clean up in Hyperion Server

Hi,
I am beginer in Hyperion Administration world;
Can any one please suggest the best practice of maintaining the logs and cleaning the list of temp files/folders in Application and Essbase Servers?
Currnetly we are using only Planning, Essbase and  Reporting; Version is 11.1.2.1.600.
Thanks a lot for all your help inadvance!
Regards,
VA

Hi,
This is very generic question & might have different answers to it.
As far as log maintenance goes, you can explore Enterprise manager that comes with EPM which has different options such as rotation of the logs. Also, you can export specific logs to certain format.
You can go to Enterprise Manager from this URL : http://<server>:7001/em & Weblogic server should be in runnning state.
If you face any issue & there is need to restart the services, do take backup/archive of logs under epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\services & under domains\EPMSytem\<ManagedServer>\logs , because they get flushed when you restart services.
I dont think you have to worry much about cleaning up of temp files as EPM takes care on that.
Thanks,
Santy.

  • Excel 2010 temp Files do not delete on network share automatically when closed *Word 2010 do!*

    Hi,
saw this post in similar Versions but never with a "cool solution" :)
We got NetApp 2050 as Filer in a Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain with Windows 7 Clients and Office 2010 Pro Plus, all up to date with WSUS.
If I open an Excel 2010 sheet on the Netapp Share or a Share on the Domain Controller and close it, it do not delte the temp file.
    Same to PowerPoint 2010.
But with Word 2010, this works!
Therefor I don't think, this will be the NTFS permissions or Network issues.
We also got VMware Clients with Windows 7 and Office 2010. There the issue does not occure!!!
May be something in Group Policies? Could it be some Microsoft Updates?
I'm very interested in your opinions...
    Best regards...

    Hi,
As far as I know, the issue usually caused by the anti-virus actively scanning Excel files (XLS, XLSX, or XLSM files). Please try to make the anti-virus to not actively scan Excel files.
Then, if you are using Kaspersky 2009, I recommend we try the below method:
Go to Run>Regedit>Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\KLIF\Parameters>Create the key  NonCachedIo (Type: Dword Value:1)
Next, some other customer solved the issue by turning off the index with the effected folders.
    Hope it's helpful.

  • Is there a way to list all .DS_Store files for selective deletion?

I routinely run VirusBarrier X6 antivirus software. Every time I do, it gets hung up on a single .DS_Store file for days on end, and I have no way to ascertain where the file is located. I understand that .DS_Store files are hidden and in every folder, so I was wondering if there was a way to list all of them via Spotlight or a Terminal command line. Whenever VirusBarrier has been hung up on a system file in the past, it's been freakishly large. I figured if I could list and sort all of the .DS_Store files, it might help me to pinpoint the one responsible for the hang-up. I know about the Terminal command to show all hidden files, but I do not know how to view them all together in a sortable list by size.
I am also aware of the Terminal command that deletes all .DS_Store files on your computer, but I've read that it may lead to catastrophic results. I'm not looking to cripple my computer over a virus software hang-up.
    Thank you.

I'm not looking to cripple my computer over a virus software hang-up.
The computer is already crippled. Remove the Intego product, which is worse than useless and worse than the imaginary "viruses" would be if they really existed, which they don't, by following the instructions on this page. If you have a different version, the procedure may be different.

Im running out of space, how do I clear old content temp files old apps?
i have done the browser cache and cleared history.I am clearing items off the macbook pro but is there other areas i should clean
    Thanks

Im running out of space, how do I clear old content temp files old apps?
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. Temp files get automatically deleted when you restart. Old apps you can either uninstall (if it was originally installed with an installer, there should be an uninstaller somewhere) or drag it to the trash. What's "old content"?
i have done the browser cache and cleared history.
This is not going to give you back much space.

  • Need help -To Restrict Huge temp file, which grows around 3 GB in OBIEE 11g

    Hi Team,
I am working on OBIEE 11.1.1.5 version for a client specific BI application. we have an issue concerning massive space consumption in OBIEE 11g installed linux environment whenever trying to run some detail level drill down reports. While investigating, we found that whenever a user runs the drill down report a temp file named nQS_xxxx_x_xxxxxx.TMP is created and keep's growing in size under the below given folder structure,
    *<OBIEE_HOME>/instances/instance1/tmp/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1/obis_temp/*
The size of this temp file grows huge as much as around 3 GB and gets erased automatically when the drill down report output is displayed in UI. Hence when multiple users simultaneously try to access these sort of drill down reports the environment runs out of space.
    Regarding the drill down reports:
    * The drill down report has around 55 columns which is configured to display only 25 rows in the screen and allows the user to download the whole data as Excel output.
    * The complete rows being fetched in query ranges from 1000 to even above 100k rows. Based on the rows fetched, the temp file size keeps growing. ie., If the rows being fetched from the query is around 4000 a temp file of around 60 MB is created and gets erased when the report output is generated in screen (Similarly, for around 100k rows, the temp file size grows up to 3 GB before it gets deleted automatically).
    * The report output has only one table view along side Title & Filters view. (No Pivot table view, is being used to generate this report.)
    * The cache settings for BI Server & BI Presentation services cache are not configured or not enabled.
    My doubts or Questions:
    * Is there any way to control or configure this temp file generation in OBIEE 11g?
    * Why the growing temp file automatically gets deleted immediately after the report output generation in screen. Is there any default server specific settings governing this behaviour?
    * As per certain OBIEE article reference for OBIEE 10g, I learnt that for large pivot table based reports the temp file generation is quite normal because of huge in-memory calculations involved . However we have used only Table view in output but still creates huge temp files. Is this behaviour normal in OBIEE 11g. If not, Can any one Please suggest of any specific settings to be considered to avoid generating these huge files or atleast generate a compressed temp file.
    * Any other work around solution available for generating a report of this type without the generation of temp files in the environment?
Any help/suggestions/pointers or document reference on this regard will be much appreciated. Please advice

    Hello Guhan,
The temp files are used to prepare the final result set for OBI presentation server processing, so as long as long you dataset is big the tmp files will be also big and you can only avoid this by reducing your dataset by for example filtering your report.
You can also control the size of your temp files by reducing the usage of the BI server.I mean by this if you are using any functions like for example sorting that can be handled by your database so just push to the DB.
Once the report finished the BI server removes automatically the tmp files because it's not necessary anymore.you can see it as a file that is used for internal calculations once it's done the server gets rid of it.
    Hope this helps

  • Solaris 10 UX:lp: ERROR: No space to allocate temp files.

    Hello,
Can someone help me with a solution for the following problem:
UX:lp: ERROR: No space to allocate temp files.
TO FIX: Clean up disk, or try again later.
when attempt to print a file. lpsched occasionally appears to go into a loop, repeatedly adding the message "Failed to open a print service file (No such file or directory)." to /var/lp/logs/lpsched.
The root file system includes enough free space and
/tmp also. The files to be printed are a few kb.
Running lpshut and lpsched fixes the problem temporarily.
lpsched writes " build info: 01/21/05:15:38:16" to
    /var/lp/logs/lpsched when it starts.
    Addition information:
When the error occur I see the the /var/lp/logs/request that the line
    "F /var/spool/lp/tmp/hostname/659-1" has changed to
    "F /var/spool/lp"

As far as I know /tmp is by default a subset of the swap, so swap and /tmp are being allocated from the same pool.
One option for our is to monitor df every second on /tmp during your print attempt. To see how it fares.

  • Running out of space/ Temp files???

I'm making my first movie with iMovie 06. In the process of importing clips from my camcorder I got a warning message. The message said that I was running critically low on space and I should delete some files in order to continue. At the same time I noticed that it said I have 27 GB available in the lower right corner of the iMovie window??
What's going on here? I only have 136 MB in the trash.
Are there temp files being created somewhere?
    Where?
How can I get rid of them in order to give iMovie the "space" it needs to do it's job??

  • Show list of OS files in Form

    Hi
I have to show list of all files residing in a particular directory on DB server using a oracle forms 6i deployed on application server. How can I achive this .Please advise.
    Thanks
    Prashant

One solution would be to have a FTP link with this machine, but that also probably results in a security issue.
Another solution would be to use a small stored Java code in the database that would do the trick, assuming that the Java engine is configured on this database.

  • Deleted Temp files still visible in certain softwares.

    Hi,
I want to know how to get rid of Temp files like (.dwl, .dwl2) or even come xlsx files which have already been deleted but are still visible in some softwares. For example when I do a backup using the Carbon Copy Cloner, I still get the option to choose these files for backup, which are already deleted but which otherwise don't show up in the Folders or a search in Finder.
    I

If you mean visible in a list of recently opened files then yes you will always see them. Those programs store a liost of the most recently opened files and have no way to reference whether they still exist or if they have been moved, copied to some other place or even deleted. It only knows what That Program Opened.
As to CCC those deleted files may still be in your Trash can and it is asking you if you want to back them up. Also it may be that they exist in the last backup and since they aren't still on the drive and wouldn't be included in the new backup CCC is asking if you want to care them over from the old backup or just delete them.

  • Why does firefox need to be closed to delete cookies & temp files

Only firefox seems to be this way -- under Windows, when I run a cleaner to delete temp files and cookies, firefox temp files and cookies can't be deleted unless firefox is closed. Can't this be fixed?

Other browsers don't seem to have his problem. i enjoy be being able to click on one item and having things cleared without fuss or bother. I'd prefer not to auto delete with each close nor do I want to have to manually hunt down with Ctrl+Shift+Del. I'm aware of those options. I was wondering why firefox still worked that way. Definitely a disadvantage for me using it. reminds me of the story:
A guy goes into a store to buy a suit and the clerk gives him one to try on:
Guy, "Hey one sleeve is longer than the other."
Clerk says, "Just shift your shoulders like this and it will look fine, see."
Guy, "But the pantlegs are uneven."
Clerk, "Well, just shift your weight onto one hip and, yes, see it looks fine."
Guy, "But the collar rides low on one side."
Clerk, "Here, hold that side in place with your chin against your chest like you're holding a violin. Voila!"
These accommodations go on for bit and the guy, somewhat exasperated but worn down, buys the suit. He wears it out of the store and down the street with his chin clamped to his chest, and one leg sort of dragging and his shoulder cocked, etc.
Two doctors walk past him and one says, "Oh that poor fellow," and the other says, "Yes, but he sure had a nice looking suit."

  • Oracle Best Practices / Guidelines regarding Cleaning TEMP files

    Hi folks,
Can any one help me with a set of steps / guidelines or best practices to clean TEMP files from OBIEE servers (our PROD environment)?
Does perhaps OBIEE take care of this for you automatically, how is that process happening?
Thanks a lot for your time and attention and hope to hear from you soon.

TEMPS files are deleted from the server once a user logs out. But there might be chance where the TEMP files does not get deleted automaticlly, when the user logs out of the system even before the TEMP file has been generated completely. In this case the temp files get stored in the server, and a bounce of services cleans up the files.
The best practice would be to create a script to empty out the temp directory during the start up of the services.

  • Windows\temp files to delete

May I delete any old .tmp .ctm .rpt or .rptconMgrCache file from the windows\temp directory ???  Or do you know where there is documenation concerning this?  My windows\temp file is growing out of control and the folder needs to be manually cleaned up.  Thanks
    Dan

a typical solution would be to create a windows bat file to delete files in that directory and to schedule it with windows task manager to run after hours. Usually if a file is being used it shouldn't be deletable (locked by the OS). I don't see any reasons not to deete them.

  • HT1926 Why the iTunes download doesn't start in windows 7 after deleting temp file etc

I have followed the instructions for deleting the temp files and still when I click the download button nothing happens. I am very new to this Windows 7 so most likely I am the reason for this failure but its driving me crazy! How do I get iTunes to work?

Adobe staff has to browse these forums on their own time (I know that should be part of their job) so their visits are infrequent.
There are several sites to report bugs which seems to be counterproductive.   I think this one has the most support right now. http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
And you are sure you are not running Bridge CS5 in the background?  You can only run one Bridge program at any one time.
In both the Mac and Win OS seems like the workaround to create a new user works frequently, but it is a hassle.  In your problem solving did you unistall everything then run the Adobe Script Cleaner?
Although this is a stretch for this problem, but might search your uninstall directroy and see if there are any expired Adobe trials you have not uninstalled.  For whatever reason it can stop launch of Bridge "as you need to launch parent application at least once".  Apparently even though it is long gone it is still seeing it as "parent" program.  As I said it is kind of a stretch here, but you never know.
Good luck on this as I know it is extrememly frustrating and Adobe does have its communication problems.
That is why it is important for the users to step up and start contributing to these forums with suggestions on what to try, thiings they have tried and worked or did not, etc.

  • After generating a .mov, iMovie does not delete the temp files

When generating a .mov iMovie creates a temp file indicated by a greyed-out icon. It is my understanding that iMovie should delete this temp file when the movie is finally generated. I've been working on a stack of movies lately and I noticed that my available space on the HD was dissappearing at an alarmingly high rate. What is happening for me is that the icon does dissappear, but the file itself remains. I know this 'cuz when I revealed the hidden files I found 1.8 Tb of hidden files sitting on my desktop, each the temp file of a movie I recently generated.
Any idea what's happening here? When I ran iMovie 6 (?) I didn't see this issue. I'm now on iMovie 11.
    Thanks,
      James

This seems to have been a problem for a while. My Aperture library is >500GB and I can't store it on the internal drive of my new retina MBP. If I hadn't moved to referenced files already I would have had to do it now.
When you point iMovie to the drive with the referenced folders you seem to have to use the 'import' option and cannot index the movies in folders lower than the one chosen. I can tolerate the inconvenience of iMovie not being able to use the index of referenced movie files. It's an extra bind that iMovie itself can't index a drive or hierarchy of folders to produce a pick list of video footage.
One thing I might try is creating a new Aperture library on an external drive and putting all my video files in that. Keeping that as a managed library, I can perhaps take advantage of the Aperture-iMovie link.

Here is one thing I found googling for WebEx:
    http://www.webex.com/why-webex/overview.html
(The x64 would most likely mean 64 bit). It may be a Windows based application/plugin, but since I had never heard of either, I'm only guessing there. If you do a search systemwide for it and don't find it plus don't know why it's there, I'd say throw it in the trash (don't empty it yet - make a note of the file path just in case you do have something installed that needs it so you can move it back).
Glad to hear it's not a torrent; some people use those not realizing that quite often there is a price to pay for downloading stuff for free that costs money elsewhere - the software packages quite often include little "add-ons" = malware which you really don't want.
