Listen in the car - options

Hello.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to the best way to listen to my iPod in the car? I've tried the FM transmitter and it's absolutely awful. And I've got a Belkin. I'm kind of surprised it cost so much with horrible results.
I don't have a tape deck so that adapter isn't an option.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks so much!!

I bought an inexpensive set ($7) of portable speakers that run on 3 AAA batteries. My iPod plugs into it thru the headphone jack and has a little rest for the iPod. The sound results are pretty good and they are small so I can put it on the floor, seat or even in the cupholder and still hear my music. It kind of looks like the bookshelf sound system they sell only much smaller as the speakers are on each side of the ipod. I got mine at Big Lots. But I am sure lots of other places sell them.

  • Problems with mp3 pen-drives to listen in the car

    Hi everyone,
i'm from Italy and a new happy iMac 27" owner by 1 month..
i 'm really glad to have and use this wonderful machine , I come from years and years of Pc-Win.
The only thing, for now, that causes some problems is about  saving and listening, in my car, mp3 files on USB pen drives.
Before, using a a normal Pc-Win, i could save mp3 files and listen them in my car, but now using my iMac i can still save them but i can't listen them in my car. Something doesn't work.
if i create a pen-drive with my mp3 files i can listen only few of them, but many files don't play.
    - I created the pen-drive (FAT formatted/initialized) using iTunes, drag and drop the files on the pen drive icon
    - I tried to create the pen drive using only Finder App
    - i tried to change the pen drive
    - I tried to check the differences between the files that work and the others, but it seems there is no much differences
    - I tried to erase the pen drive trash
    .. nothing
the problem is still here, i can only listen a few tracks.
Somebody knows something about this problem ?
Thanks a lot in advance... sorry for my english

  • Best way to listen in the car?

    Hi,
Which gadget will help me listen to my shuffle in the car? I have tried the Xtreme mac and I get a lot of static and strange noises.

    Hi Wendy,
Do you have a cassette player in your car? If yes, a cheap way to listen to your Shuffle in your car is to purchase a cassette adaptor such as the one listed below:

I have one of these and they are great! I personally prefer them over the wireless radio tuners.

  • Listening in the car

How can I listen to my IPod touch through my car speakers?

    - If the car system has an AUX input get a cable that goes into the headphone jack with the other end into the headphone jack.
    - Purchase a FM transmitter that connect to the iPod that transmits to the  car;s FM radio. Google for: FM tramsmitter for iPod touch
    - Use blueteooth if the car supports it
    - Use a USB or iPod dock connector if the car supports that.

  • Do I have to listen to all audio books using itunes if I'm in the car?

I downloaded a free audio book from audioBKshelf and wanted to listen in the car.  In order to hear the book while driving  I think I have twp choices
A- buy speakers so I can hear the book over the road noise or
B -move this free book into iTunes.
Is there anyway to move the free audio book to iTunes.  It didn't come over when I synced.

You don't need to sign into iCloud on your PC to access previously purchased iTunes music.  You only need to redownload it with iTunes, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.

  • Netca: "a listener with the name already exists" after bombing out

Installing a listener via netca on a CentOS 5 x64 11g RAC setup.
I had a typo in the $ORACLE_HOME shell variable in .bash_profile for the oracle user. This caused netca to bomb out with a series of 'file not found' and 'directory not found' errors. netca did not complete.
netca did, however, create listener LISTENER on port 1521 on both my nodes. There is no listener.ora file anywhere, due to the bad $ORACLE_HOME directory.
I'd like to delete this and start over so that netca completes normally.
I cannot use netca to delete listener LISTENER. The delete option is greyed out. I did reboot, and tried killing the tsnlsnr process.

My question...how do I delete this listener (and the one on rac2) so that I can re-install them correctly using netca?

    Hi,
the listener is still registered with Oracle Clusterware. This registration will stay regardless of the existence of listener.ora and related files. Thus, you need to get rid of the registration, if you want to do it from scratch (which may not be required, if the listener starts and stops correctly). However, from your Clusterware home, please, issue:
    srvctl remove listener -h
    Usage: srvctl remove listener -n <node_name> [-l <listener_name>]
    -n <node> Node name
    -l Display listener configuration
    -h Print usage
    Hope that helps. Thanks,

  • Can iPhone be stopped from always playing music in the car?

    Hi.
My sister & I both have an iPhone. (Mine is a 4; hers is a 5C.)
Until we bought a new car in April, the battery consumption on our phones was quite acceptable. The problem is that our new car has a Bluetooth connection, and it seems to 'take over' our iPhones whenever they're connected to it via Bluetooth. Every time we go to our phones after being in the car we find that the phone is playing music, even though we've not been listening to that music in the car. (99% of the time we're in the car we listen to the car radio, so the music is playing in vain on our phones.)
The music isn't bothering us of course, because we can't hear it. But we've been finding that it has been dramatically affecting the battery life on our iPhones. We seem to be charging them far more now than we did before.
Is there any way of stopping our iPhones from always playing music when they're connected via Bluetooth to the car please? Our car is a Ford Fiesta fitted with something called SYNC.
(We don't want to turn Bluetooth off of course, because it provides hands-free use of the iPhones for talking on the telephone. We just want it to stop playing music.)

Check the settings for your car's stereo. It is telling the phone to start playing music when connected. It's not a setting on the phone.

  • HT201359 I purchased a audio book to listen to on my commute to work. It only works over wifi, that does me no good in the car and the book is hours long for audio. That will eat up my data. How can I get a refund?

How are you trying to listen to it ? You shouldn't need to be online to listen to it, I don't for any of mine. If you've downloaded it directly on your iPad (or synced it from your computer) then it should be in the Music app (you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button in the Music app when you have audiobooks on it) - is that where you are trying to listen to it ?

  • I have saved my songs on music to I cloud so I can only listen to them in wifi. I want to listen to them in the car how do I change that?

I Have saved more songs in music app to I cloud which only allows me to listen when I am in wifi. I want to listen to them all in the car. What do I do?

It seems to happen with songs that were purchased before synchronizing the new iPhone
I will tell you how I fixed it.
Note: I have iTunes in spanish so I will try to translate and figure out the commands that appear on ITunes in english. I will put my translations into brackets. English is not my native language. I will do my best.
    The workaround is:
1.- Dragg no working songs from iTunes to a folder on the hard disk. (Only for backup purposes)
2.- Deleted those songs from iTunes library.
3.- On the left panel in ITunes click on "Purchased" under the STORE option. All your purchased songs will appear on the right panel
4.- At the bottom and right there is the option : "Download Previous Purchases". Click there.
5.- Click on the option "Are not in my Library" (top right)
6.- The songs you deleted from iTunes will appear.
7.- Downloaded them again. (You have the option to download at the bottom right)
8.- Syncronize your iPhone and that's all.

Hi! What do I need to be able to listen to the music of my iPod in my car? Thanks!

You can hear your music of your iPod from your car via Bluetooth or by a USB port (maybe located in your car) and connect it with the cable.
If your car doesn´t have does two things, you can do it by accesories: http://store.apple.com/us/search/Belkin-TuneCast-Auto-with-ClearScan?mco=Nzk5NTQ 1Ng#

  • I'm a drummer, when I got the 4s and tried to listen to music and drum to it the music would keep cutting out. It also happens when a door is slammed when I'm in the car.

I'm a drummer, when I got the 4s and tried to listen to music and drum to it the music would cut out frequently, it also happens when a door is slammed when I'm in the car. I didn't have this issue with my previous apple products and it doesn't seem to happen to others with the 4s. Is there a known way to stop this?

I suggest trying the update again after an hour or two.  Sometimes, the notice that an update is available comes an hour or two before the developers actually sends the revised app out to be downloaded.

  • How can i get my car to change the track when i am listening to the music on my phone through the line-in?

how can i get my car to change the track when i am listening to the music on my phone through the line-in? is there a app i can download so it will recognize it? i have a vauxhal astra and the controls are on the steering wheel

First question is how old is Astra and you are in UK ( well you must be to have a Vauxhall)
Normally the Radio only has a line in socket  to allow sound
You have two choices here either a simple cable with a 3.5mm Headphone plus at each end
or a cable with the headphone plug to place in car's line in plug and a wide Apple socket to fit the base of your iPhone This allegedly gives better sound but  you have to control the iPhone for music selection
The equipment you need to control the iPhone from the Steering Wheel controls ,which I suspect currently handles radio /Cd  tracks /stations ,is much more complicated it will have to be integrate with the Factory Fitted  radio
and designed to manage the S/Wheel  controls and translate to the iPhone .
Fitted into back of radio etc etc
If car is a recent Vauxhall there may be a kit available from them .but will not be cheap
Many imponderables you did not give much away in your OP

  • Limiting radio interference when listening to iPhone in the car

I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this semi-problem. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee LImited - with both a cd and tape player. I used a cassette adapater with my former iPod- worked fine. I recently purchased an iPhone and the Belkin iPhone Headphone Adapter. The adapter works fine and I can listen to the iPod feature on my iPhone. However, every once in a while I will get radio interference in my speakers.
I know I can switch to airplane mode - but that sort of defeats the purpose! Any ideas out there to get ride of the interference? Thanks!

I get this when I listen to Sirius. You can never keep the same empty station on the radio when you travel between as many cities as I do.
There is a device that was made witch basically severs the connection between the radio and the antenna on your car. The device costs about $20-$40 depending on where you get it and sales. If you have Sirius or XM you can just install that device and solve the problem for both the Sat Radio and the Belkin transmitter.
The downside to this is that you will still need to have the satelite radio turned on to stop the antenna connection.
Basically without the full length of the antenna on the car, you can only hear the loudest and clearest stations. This will leave you with hundreds of choices rather than 2 or 3.
I do not know if they make a similar device with a switch rather than relying on the satelite signal, but it could be worth a check.

  • Listen iPod nano in the car

Hello, I want to listen my iPod nano in my Subaru Legacy car. I've bought USB to aux cable, connected one end to iPod and another end to car's USB port. It does not recognize iPod as USB device. Please advice how could I connect my iPod to USB in the car?

Is your head unit in the Legacy iPod compatilble. If yes does it require a special cable?
    Your solution could not work.
