Listen to music using bluetooth headphones

I am playing music in iTunes on my iMac during my work. I tried to pair the headphones with audio services without success but the computer did detect the headphones with the correct name. How can I use my JBL bluetooth headphones to listen to the music instead of the built-in speakers? Thanks!

You would need to run Bluetooth Preferences and set up a new device. What does the manufacturer of the head set have to say in their manual?

  • How can I stop iPad from starting the music app after ending a phone call when using Bluetooth headphones?

music app automatically starts after using Bluetooth headphones during a phone call

If you don't have iTunes you will need to buy the song from the iTunes store and download it that way. If it is a custom track you may be out of luck.  The only way to get a song on your device without iTunes involves jailbreaking it.
iOS is set up to prevent people from emailing each other songs, videos, movies, books, etc. This is how Apple got their contracts with the content providers by promising that they would do what ever it takes to prevent people from sharing content that they didn't pay for.

  • Success using Bluetooth headphones A2DP

Has anyone had success using bluetooth headphones with the Mac OS X 10.5+?
I have a pair of JBL Reference 610 bluetooth headphones and would like to use them with my MacBook Pro. I have no problem pairing them and can listen to sounds, music, etc. for a short period of time. Within 1min - 5min of listening the sound will cut completely and then come back in after a few seconds. When it comes back in, the music sounds like it is speeding to catch up. It might continue this way for a few seconds, come back, and drop out again. This continues to degrade until no sound comes through at all. The headphones remain connected during this time and I must disconnect them in order to listen to music through another way.
Please post here if you have gotten bluetooth audio to work or if you are having problems.
I opened a ticket with Apple support and this incident has been reported to engineering.

Same problem. I just bought $400 stereo music Bluetooth headphones to lose the wire. Every other music app I have plays to the headphones, even cheap little toys like Kalimba. But not GarageBand.

  • Is it possible to listen to music through bluetooth and be on a call with earbuds at the same time?

Is it possible to listen to music through bluetooth and be on a call with earbuds at the same time?
I would like to be able to talk on my iPhone with the EarPods while playing music via Bluetooth in my car.  Are there any third party products that will allow this?

Sorry,  iOS will pause the music playback when you are on the phone call.  You can set iOS to use bluetooth for your audo playback on your music app, and select the earpods for the phone app, but as soon as you answer the phone call, iOS will pause the music playback.  This is a core OS feature, so you will not find any certified iOS app that will do what you want.
As a side note, please use extra caution when using your ear pods while driving.  It is not safe as you may not hear emergency vehicles, car horns, railroad crossing bells, etc., and it is illegal in many states (in the US).

  • I can listen to music with my headphone on an iPhone 4s but unable to hear it on the onboard speaker. This happens recently. What's wrong with my iphone 4s?

I can listen to music on my headphone, but not on the speaker. Please help.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup and restore as new device.
If you have been through ALL these recommended steps and your problem persists, there's really nothing more you can do.  You'll need to bring your phone into Apple for service.

  • Streaming music using Bluetooth breaks up on new 4th gen. ITouch

I recently bought a new iTouch 4 and now have trouble streaming music using Bluetooth...this did not happen with my older device, also 4G...any type of physical interference, walking between iPod and Bluetooth receiver causes a loss of sound...I have to set my new device next to the receiver to ensure no imteruption...with my older device I set it across the room and never had an interruption - I wish I hadn't dropped it off the roof of our house - by the way,it still works just looks like its been through a war...any ideas?

    - Try resetting network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Yu will have to repair BT devices and reeent network passwords.
    - The restore from backup
    - The restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem I would make an appoitment at the Genius Bar of  an Apple store.

  • Can I use Bluetooth headphones with a 1st generation iPhone?

Can I use Bluetooth headphones with a 1st generation iPhone? The headphones pair but the sound comes out of the phone and not the headphones. The phone has iOS 3.1 which is the last software the phone will support. Thanks.

    This will help you:
    Original iPhone
The original iPhone features Bluetooth capabilities only for making calls. Connecting to a PC or streaming audio other than phones calls through Bluetooth is not supported.
    IPhone 3G
With the iPhone 3G operating system, its Bluetooth capabilities are expanded to support wireless stereo headsets, file sharing with other Bluetooth devices, and use of the iPhone as a 3G modem. Also supported are new capabilities for combining the iPhone with Bluetooth accessories.
    IPhone 4.0
The 4.0 version of the iPhone's operating systems keeps the expanded Bluetooth functions introduced in version 3 and adds one new benefit: Bluetooth keyboard support, so iPhone owners can use wireless keyboards wherever they go.

  • Does using bluetooth headphones dramatically decrease battery life in ipod 5

I have a 64gb version of the Itouch 5 and recently started using jaybird brand bluetooth headphhones. At first everything worked fine but now the battery inthe Ipod only lasts 4 hours even when niot using it.  Has there been any known issues with this?

Yes, and no. The headphones aren't sucking the battery out of your 5th Generation iTouch. USING BLUETOOTH, will. Its like running a game on your iPod for a while. It will drain the battery more quickly than with just listening to music. So running apps, bluetooth, etc, WILL shorten your battery life.
    HOW TO FIX IT:
When you are not using the headphones, turn the bluetooth off through the general settings in your itouch. Then, while you aren't running the headphones, it won't suck the battery life out. When you use the headphones, turn bluetooth back on. Leaving bluetooth on is still leaving the iPod in bluetooth mode, which is running down the battery because it takes extra charge to run bluetooth. Hope this helps!

  • HT1430 iphone4 is stuck in headphone mode after using bluetooth headphones

Was listening to bluetooth headphones earlier. Turned them off. Got a phone call, answered and could not hear anything but the caller could hear me. Hit the volume button and it says headphones. Played music- no sound. Got another phone call, can hear the caller if I use the speaker. Turned the headphones on and off again, turned bluetooth off on phone, removed the headphones from my bluetooth devices list, closed all previously used apps and re-started phone. Same thing. Doesn't matter if I send or get a call, can't hear them. Anybody else have such a problem? What else can I try? The headphones are Plantronics Beats Go 2. Checked their website, and although there's a ton of issues with Plantronics bluetooth devices (Great!) my issue is unheard of.

I fixed it. Repeatedly plugging in headphones made it stop saying headphones but it still had no audio except on speaker phone. Started music app, turned volume all the way up and hit play (of course there was no sound) Stuck a clean dry toothpick in the headphone port and ran it around the inside of the port. Hit the volume button again and it said mute.!. but when I turned it up it worked fine! There was no dirt or moisture in the port, it's like it just got un-polorized or something weird like that. Seems lots of ppl are having this problem. Try it. Good luck

  • ITunes refuses to use bluetooth headphone

At first, I didn't realize there is this forum, and posted the following in a forum which is less suitable than this one. So, I copy it here.
I'm bewildered. Consider these three items: The bluetooth setting of Mac OS (the bluetooth icon near the top right corner), a bluetooth headphone, and iTunes. In what order should I switch them on?
First of all, I use the same headphone (S305 of Motorola) with the iPhone 4 and the 6th-gen. iPod Nano without any problems. It doesn't seem to matter which is switched on first.
Now, on my iMac, I experience wierd things. For example,
    1) Switch on the headset.
    2) Bluetooth menu of iMac -> Turn on Bluetooth.
    3) Bluetooth menu of iMac -> S305 -> Use headphones.
After a while, my headset beeps and the Bluetooth
icon of the iMac turns to three dots. (Connection
    established.)
    4) Invoke iTunes. Then, the Bluetooth icon turns back
to the Bluetooth symbol, and music starts to flow
from the buildin speaker. Not from the headset!
    5) Quit iTunes.
    6) Bluetooth menu -> Turn off bluetooth.
    7) Do item (2).
    8) Do item (3).
    9) Do item (4). And then, there is an error pop-up
window, saying that the bluetooth audio failed,
    or somthing to the effect.
    10) Restart the iMac.
    11) Repeat from (1). Then, SOMETIMES, iTunes plays music
    through my headset!
I failed to see any "systematicness". It SOMETIMES works and SOMETIMES fails.
Is there any pattern here? What's the correct order to turn on various things? I ask this, because establishing a Bluetooth connection after starting iTunes SOMETIMES works!
Oh, and I'm sitting right in front of the iMac and the strength of the signal should be very good. When I do a test like the above, I turn off all other Bluetooth signals. (For example, if its Bluetooth is on, my iPhone 4 establishes a connection with my headset before my iMac does so.)
    Ryo

Are these tracks ones that iTunes played successfully before the update? If not, what format are the tracks (MP3, WAV, WMA, etc.)?
