Listen to purchased music on new computer

I had a mac but something happened to it and wont start up. I also have a Dell that has iTunes but i never put the music on that one, w/ no iPod, is there anyway to listen to music that i have already purchased (on mac) on my new computer.

You can only download a purchase from the iTunes Store once, so you'd have to copy the music from backups or from directly your Mac. If it can't boot, then you'd have to pull the hard drive out of your Mac (presuming the drive still works), mount it in an external USB case, purchase one of the utilities that allow a Windows system to mount a Mac-formatted drive, and copy your music from the Mac's drive to the PC.

  • Problems transferring previously purchased music to new computer through icloud

I have transferred my itunes music to new computer, but purchased music does not appear. How can I restore purchased music? The link ´purchased´in the store does not show music, only movies and apps

    iTunes prefs > Store.
Tick Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
If it's not there, log out of iTunes store then log back in.
Now select Movies and there will be a column with a cloud.
Click the cloud icon to download.

Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups . (For most people, this will involve either CD's/DVD's or an external drive .)
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form on this page:

  • New Nano needs already purchased music in new computer

I just purchased my new Macbook and got a Nano too. at the time of purchase I was told by the apple people that I would be able to download all the purchased iTunes from my acct to my new Macbook, but I can't find how to do that. I have a fire wire on order, but would like to get some of my music asap so I can start using it. Any ideas?
    thanks

If the computer isn't authorized to play the music, choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes and provide the username and password associated with your iTunes Store account. In either case, connect the iPod to your computer and go through the iPod Setup Assistant; iTunes will then transfer the contents of its library to the iPod.

  • Trouble putting purchased music on new computer's itunes

I have iTunes on two different computers and I recently moved permanently to the location of the one with the least amount of music. I buy all my music through iTunes store, but I have quite a few songs I haven't put on my iPod yet that are purchased and on my other computer's iTunes. Anyway, I was wondering if/how I can get my already purchased music onto my new main computer's iTunes without it already being on my iPod. Thanks

If you want to have your purchases on more than one computer you have to copy them from the computer they were purchased on. There are various methods to copy purchases between computers, CD-R, iPod, USB stick etc, you can read more at this link: iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers

  • How to download purchased music onto new computer (please)?

How can I get my purchased music back onto a new computer? Old one crashed, only had some of my music on the ipod. I've followed some posts to get the ipod music back to the computer, but I see songs in itunes purchase history that are not showing up anywhere (that I can see). Is there any way to get these back? I tried the option that iTunes lists for downloading purchased music, but these didn't seem to download. Can anyone help? I'm not real computer savvy so please explain it "for dummies." thanks

  • Need my purchased music on new computer, iPod not available

My computer crashed because of Windows Vista, so I had to install Windows 7 and therefore, reinstall everything on my computer (new iTunes, all files, etc.). I've been through this once before, but this time I didn't transer my purchased songs from my iPod before I sync-ed it. So, I've now lost access to all my purchased music. There must be a way to re-download for people whose computers crash, for instance, what about where the computer crashes before the music can be put on the iPod? Help. I'm annoyed.

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive (and note that, as you've discovered, an iPod is not a reliable backup). The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If your hard drive was erased and you don't have a backup of your purchased items, and don't have them on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
If you have your tracks backed up, post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.

  • Authorizing purchased music onto new computer

I have loaded my library onto a new mac and am wondering if there is a way to authorize all purchased songs at once rather than one at a time?

You should only need to play one song. When you play an item you've purchased, your computer is authorised to play content purchased using your Apple Account: : About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

try playing one of the songs for a few seconds in itunes. does itunes ask you to authorise? if so, and if you do, will the songs transfer to the ipod next time you try to sync?

  • HT5085 purchased music on new windows computer

cannot find pervious purchased music on new windows computer.  Logged in, purchased, all albums    ---   nothing

You are looking in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage, and do the artists that you've bought music from show on the left-hand side of that screen ?  If you've changed countries since buying the music, or if the rights-holder has removed the music from the store, then you won't be able to redownload it - it also won't show if it's hidden : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.
Or if you go into the Store tab in Edit > Preferences  and click on 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' do they then show in the Music part of your iTunes library with a cloud icon against them for redownloading ?

You can also re-download most previous purchases (not just songs) from the iTunes Store from the Purchased screen.  So, you should be able to get the "one missing purchase" back too.  Sign in to iTunes using the Apple ID used to make the purchases.  Go to the iTunes Store.  (With the new iTunes 12, select the Music category first, then go to the iTunes Store.)  Click on Purchased (along right side under QUICK LINKS).  From the Purchased screen, you can find and download previous song purchases, at no cost.
You can also re-download purchases from other iTunes categories, such as Movies and TV Shows.
