Listen to touch thru car speakers with 1/8" audio cable

I had a 1st gen touch that I could connect to my car with a 1/8" audio cable. It allowed me to listen to my touch through my car speakers. I got a 3rd gen 32 GB touch and it doesn't work with the same cable. When I plug it in, the sound comes out of the touch's speakers. Is there a special 1/8" audio cable that I can buy that will allow my new touch to play through my car's speakers? Thanks!

I have a similar problem - I have a Logic 3 adapter that connects to the dock adapter and a 3.5mm plug on the other end to a jack in the car. Worked like a charm with an iPod but doesn't work with the iTouch. Also noted that when attached to a Bose sound dock - no charging but the music works. There must be something different in the design. Tried Bluetooth also but not able to connect it to the audio system (Blackberry works fine).

  • Why can't I connect iPod to car stereo with red/white RCA cables?

I have red/white/yellow RCA (I think that's the name of them) plugs in my car stereo and I bought a cable to connect it to my iPod. It's the small plug (3.5 I think) on one end and a split 'Y' that's red and white on the other. The people and my car dealer connected a cell phone that is also a music player to it and it works, but it won't work with the iPod connected. The dealer thought it should be able to work with my iPod, but doesn't know why it won't. Are iPods able to connect to a car stereo this way. Is there another special cable that I need to get?

No, I should think that would work fine. I have a splitter like that connected to my hifi and no issues...you would want to make sure the volume on the iPod is up all the way; I don't know what car stereo you have, but possibly it's a setting on there that isn't right?

  • Using BOTH car speakers with Iphone's one speaker

I know 4s only has 1 speaker but is there anyway to get it to play on BOTH speakers in my car using a AUX jack? My right speaker is getting all the play and I'm scared I'm going to blow it out :\

it should play stereo both with a headset or device connected to the 3.5mm minijack and the button pin30 connector
if yours does not then there is something wrong

  • Thumping Sound thru Car Speakers

I am getting a thumping sound when I connect my Itouch 2G to my car stereo jack (3.5mm) This doesn't hAppen when I connect earphones. I can sometimes get it to go away but it's not because of jiggling or turning the connection. No rhyme or rreason why it abates. No consistent time-line for when it stops. Will start again if I disconnect cable and then re-connect.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!!!

I reported this same problem last Oct. Still no response or resolution. I hoped the new software would eliminate the problem, but no such luck. Now my album artwork is wrong on the touch, but shows correct on my MBP. Would REALLY appreciate answer on how to get rid of this ANNOYING thumping sound! Have itouch 2G.
    Thanks much!!

  • Playing ipod thru car stereo with no mp3 capability

Is there a model that you can connect to your car audio (thru cigarette lighter) that will play clearly? My stereo is older and does not play mp3 nor do I have an ipod connection. Thanks for your help!

Yeah, they make FM transmitters that use the ciggerette lighter's power to power the transmitter. Cigarette lighter sockets are 12v only no audio in there.

  • I have an iphone 4s and when i originally bought it before any updates, i was able to play videos on my jensen vm9312hd car stereo with the iphone link cable. Since the first update i havent been able to play videoes. Any ideas?

The first update that removed the youtube icon also stopped my ability to watch videoes from my phone on my jensen vm9312hd car stereo. Is there a way to fix tgis?

Maybe someone played around with your volume limit, try Settings>Music and then volume limit if not reboot your iPhone (hold sleep/wake and home button for about 10 seconds should start up again it self if nit then switch it on normally) and if that doesn't work then reset your settings.

  • I have good headphones and would like to be able to listen to music louder and possibly with better quality audio. Any advice?

My old iPad had the 30 pin line in and I had an LOD cable which I ran to a headphone amp. This allowed me to use the headphone amp to control volume independent of the iPad as it was docked through the LOD. This made it louder and sound better than simply using the headphone line in of the iPad. I don't know how I can do this with my iPad Air 2 as I don't know of any cable that would connect into the 8 pin line in. I've looked for LODs to fit the 8 pin but can't find one. I bought a cheap 8 to 30 pin adapter but it only allows me to charge and sync, not dock. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The apple lightning to 30 pin works just fine for me.
Works with a fio amp and srs  iwow.

  • Streaming from MBP to Samsung TV WITH EXTERNAL SPKRS --AUDIO ISSUE

    Hel
Using the Mini-Display adapater, MINI Displayport TO HDMI ADAPTER, I have been able to stream live car race from MBP directly to my Samsung HD TV.
Streamed picture is wonderful. To get audio from the live stream to come thru the external speakers,  I used an audio cable (3.5mm pin that plugs to the MBP, with the RCA jacks plugged into the component's (the receiver) audio out sockets),  but still I  not yield the desired result.
Yesterday, I purchased an AUVIO® 6-Ft.Optical Audio Toslink™ Cable .  To test this new cable,  I live streamed an ESPN2 program  to the TV--I was pleased that the sound  did come thru the external speakers.    After a few mintues of ESPN2 streaming, I navigated to  YouTube but lost  the sound to the external speakers.  To troubleshoot, I returned to ESPN2 again,   for the live stream (thinking maybe YouTube has an issue).   Unfortuantely,  there was no sound to the external speakers.    Why it had worked properly only moments before and not now?  I turned everything off and started from the beginning.  No luck.
I went thru the MBP tools, settings, preferences, etc.    Is there   a setting I have overlooked?
Any and all help is appreciated
    Sincerely,
    FMW

OK, so I've done a couple things here and both point to the above post about having two devices doing AirPlay at once.
First things first....  I ran the Inssider tool and looked over my network.  My signal seems to always be between 50 and 60.  My router is on Ch 6 which seems to be the best choice.  There's one other network on that channel, but it's a very low signal strength.  The other ends of the spectrum are pretty well covered by other networks.
Does this shed any light on this problem?
Second - I hard wired my MacBook to the router, then screen shared to the Apple TV.  It was up for at least 15 minutes.  At some point, I looked over and it was no longer sharing, but the network *WASN'T* trashed like it normally gets.  So it possibly got dropped for some other reason.
Third - I forgot that I have an Apple Airport Express that I normally use to stream music to a radio in my garage.  However, this device can be used as a router.  So I set it up this way and created a 2nd network.  I only put the Macbook and the Apple TV on it.  I've been streaming continuously for about 35 minutes now with no issues.
So it would seem that there's a firmware issue with this router that won't allow one device to Airplay to another device.  Does anyone else have any other conclusions or suggestions?  Otherwise, looks like I'll be treating myself to some new hardware after Christmas.
Thanks very much for your help!

  • Listening to ipod touch in car- bluetooth or FM?

    hello,
i would like to listen to 3rd gen i-touch in the car.
I have a motorola HF850 car hands free kit (bought from carphone warehouse) and hoped this would pair with the touch, but no luck.
Have tried performing 'device discovery' on car kit, bluetooth on touch switched on, etc.
Have read that bluetooth on the touch might only work with headphones, how is this?
Will I just have to buy something to transmit the music on an open FM freq to car stereo?
I'm not very good at all this, and would be v grateful for any help

I bought a $60 device from Belkin that is supposed to transmit the iPod sound to an empty FM station.
    http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8Z209-Tunecast-Auto-Ipod/dp/B000WW1YW4/ref=sr15?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262279990&sr=1-5
I tested it INSIDE my garage where the FM reception of nearby stations is terrible. You can choose any FM frequency on the dial in 0.1 increments. I tried every single one but it seemed that no matter what "quiet" frequency I chose, a burst of static or noise would break through. The FM transmitter on this thing is just too weak to maintain a solid lock to your radio. I've had not much luck with anything made by Belkin these days and I ended up returning it. There is another brand that gets hard-wired into your car using the antenna jack on the back of the radio and it's supposed to be superior.
My car audio system is just average so I ended up using an old Sony cassette tape adapter from a Discman. It's got a standard mini-stereo jack and plugs right into the iPod. The sound is not bad... certainly better than the cr@p being pumped out of the Belkin FM adapter. Works well enough for casual listening.

and a cheap 2-star rated device from Belkin...

  • My new Ipod touch won't  work  with my Alpine CDE-125BT car stereo.

I bought the new Ipod touch. I am dissapointed because I can't get it to work with my fairly new Apline car stereo. This radio has an ipod cable which worked with my ipod classic. I called alpine they told me to buy the Apple 30 pin to lightnig adapter, I did and it still didn't work. The radio also has bluetooth. I was able to connect  ipod through bluetooth, but music wouldn't play through the radio. Is anybody having the same issue as me and is there any advice. Thanks.

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?
It could be that the car system is not compatible with the iOS on the iPod. Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility. I would pursue that with the car system manufacturer. Ask it they tested the car system with a 5G iPod with the adopter.

  • I plug my 4S into a transmitter to listen through my car speakers. The phone gets hot, is this normal?

I used a radio transmitter connected to my 4S to listen to music through my car speakers, but the phone gets hot.  Is this  normal?

Yes it is. It is usual for your phone to get hot (not to the point where it burns, but noticably warmer) whenever it's charging, playing music, or using an app that takes a lot of power (like navigation). Especially in a car, where the ambient temperature can get pretty hot.
As long as it doesn't hurt to hold your phone or the phone doesn't give you a temperature warning then it's normal.

  • How do I get my ipod touch 5th generation to always use my car speakers when I plug it into the USB port?

How do I get my ipod touch 5th generation to always use my car speakers when I plug it into the USB port?

If the problem occurs after you restore it to factory defaults/new iPod then it is likely a hardware problem.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
