Listener Error

Question

I created an app in visual studio and i' m using:
- Visual studio .NET 2005
- Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET with Oracle10g Release 2 ODAC 10.2.0.2.21
to connect to oracle database. When i try to connect i get an ORA-12514 error. The firewall is disabled. If i open a command window and run "lsnrctl" and after that "status" i get a status unknown.
If i open "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" from: Start-Oracle-ODACHome1-Configuration and Migration Tools-Net Configuration Assistant, and choose Listener Configuration (press next)-Reconfigure (press next) -Select LISTENER (if I press next a window opens which tells me that the listener is currently running and asks me if i want to stop and modify the listener with the given name) i choose yes-on next window (press next)- Use the standard port 1521 (press next)-Would you like to configure another listener? I choose No (press next) and if i understand well the Assistant restarts the LISTENER.
Now if i run the project i have connection with the database with no error.
Does anybody know what is happening?
