KarthikIf the listener wouldn't had been up and listening to your database isntances, you would had got the error no listener . As you can see that listener is well aware about the database instances , its up.

I have a 2009 A6 with a 5th Gen. iPod pluggedinto the MMI.  I mostly  listen to audio books, not a lot ofmusic.  The books are 4-6 hours long, vs 4-6minutes with a song.  Often, but not always, when I start my A6, the MMI starts on the first song on my iPod, thereforeI don't know where I stopped in my 4-6 hour book.  How can I get the interface to stay stopped where I left off?  I have gone into iTunes and placed my current book as the first "song" on my iPod for ease of finding it, but often the MMI starts it over at the beginning.  Thank you if anyone has any experience with this.  My dealer in San Rafael, CA says they've never heard of this issue.

I think my iPod, which is an iPod touch 3rd generation , which is a lot different from a nano, which really makes it almost impossible for me to help you, which is why I suggested that you post your question in the iPod nano community.  Your first post says that your product is an iPod nano. I think the people who answer those questions would be most likely to help you. If yours isn't a nano then you can pick the right community from here. This community is really to answer questions about this forum, or issues that don't fit anywhere else.

I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded? The online information suggests all my music will be replaced. Will I have to download it again??

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • Monitoring whether Database and Listener are running or not?

    Hi,
We have around 50 databases which we manage. Those databases have some alerts which send emails if the tablespaces are below 80% threashold levels.
However, we dont have any alert either if the database is down or if listener is down. Most of the databases are either on sun solaris or on AIX running either oracle 9i or oracle 10G.
I am going through the source code of the scripts already in place. can someone direct me
on how we can monitor whether the database is up and running and whether the given listener is running or not?
    Thank you.
    Giridhar

You have many databases on many machines. I think you should use Oracle grid, that help you to manage and monitor your databases.
Anyway you need to monitor listener and database only and free....
You can find out open source on internet to help you.
Example: nagios, that can help .... monitor database + listener....

  • Tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora & listener.ora files are not exit

    DB version: 10.2
    Hello All,
I just joined the project and notice tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora & listener.ora files are not exit under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.
But still we can connect to the database,
From command prompt or via enterprise manager studio from client site.
    Any idea?
    OR
what is the best way to create above files in the existing database?
    DN

tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora are client side files, listener.ora and sqlnet.ora are server side files.
Listener.ora need not exist if using defaults and dynamic registration of services. It may be possible to cope without all those files, depending on the environment.
Is the database on the local or remote computer and how are you connecting (from sqlplus)?
Maybe you have a tnsnames.ora somwhere else? (Try using find command) Maybe TNS_ADMIN is set?

    Hi,
We have install OSB Client on HP-UX 11i V2 HP rx5670 Server as per Oracle Secure backup Installation Guide.
But we are getting following error message. Please help us to solve the issue:

    # /sbin/init.d/OracleBackup start

Have a look at the observiced.log file to see if that has any more detail, this is in /usr/tmp.
I would check to see if there is something else on the system that is using TCP port 400 or 10000. On Solaris I've seen the webmin installation using port 10000. Both those ports need to be free for OSB to be able to start.
With OSB stopped, you can "telnet <hostname> 400" and "telnet <hostname> 10000" to see if it connects. If it does then something is listening on that port.
You should be able to do "netstat -na" as well, to show you listening ports.

  • How to check whether ESBAgentListener listener is started or not for ESBSys

    Hi,
I am working on Oracle ESB 10g, I want to know how to check whether the ESBAgentListener listener is started or not for particular ESB system. I know we can verify the logs but I want to know is it possible from database or any other sources.

    Hi Jogdand ,
You can get the PO total value change form the PO business Object BUS2201 attribute  POTotalValueIncreased .
Below code sample decribes how to get the BO attribute values
    1. INCLUDE <swfcntn01>.
    2. Create an instance of the BO by calling the macro and passing the three parameter.
        swf_create_object     <po bor object>     <BUS2201>     <po_guid>
    3. Get the PO attribute by calling macro
      swf_get_property   <po BOR object>   < 'POTotalValueIncreased' >    < lv_pototalvalueincreased>
    OR
You can query the table BBP_PDHGP and get the original Value of the PO and call the FM BBP_PD_PO_GETDETAIL to get the new Value of the PO. Check the difference and if there is any difference then the PO value is changed.
I hope this will be very useful.
    Regards,
    Surender

  • Listener dynamic service registration not working

I just set up an Oracle 11.2 instance for the first time and, for some reason the instance would not register with the listener. Any idea for how I would debug this to isolate where the problem is?
For now I have worked around the problem by manaully editing the listener.ora to specify the SID of my instance - this works OK, so I suppose all I want to know is to learn what the problem was to avoid future frustration.
'nstrctl services'was just showing up an instance for the CLRExtProc service and not my new instance.
    The relevant parameters are:
    SQL> show parameter service
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    service_names                        string      PFS30
    SQL> show parameter instance_name

    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    listener_networks                    string
    local_listener                       string
remote_listener                      stringThe contents of my listener.ora was:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (SID_NAME = CLRExtProc)
          (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1)

          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1521))
ADR_BASE_LISTENER = D:\oracleThe listener was created using netca, also at 11.2. According to the doc, I believe that since the listener port is 1521, the LOCAL_LISTENER parameter is correct in being NULL.
I tried alter system register, to make sure it wasnt a delay problem. I also tried bouncing the listener and database.
    Thanks for any help.

Did you check if maybe the port OC4J runs on (8889) is already used by another program (netstat)? Did you check the logfiles?
