Listener status

Hi,
I just finished a OEM R2 installation (AIX) - first time no errors.
GC shows everything is fine, but :

your right. I have the ORACLE_HOME set in oracle's .profile, but when I looked at the environment by using the env command the was not there.
I got to oracle by su - oracle from root. when I echo $ORACLE_HOME it shows up, it just wasn't showing up when I checked the environment with env.
I thought that su - oracle would set the environment with oracle's .profile.
I added ORACLE_HOME to /etc/environment. might just be an su thing
Thanks for the speedy reply :)

  • ORA-12514 & Listener Status Instance status Unknown issue

    Dear All,
    Database Version - 10.2.0.5.0
    Operating System - Windows XP
I am using Oracle 10g version, which has two services (bit10g and ora10g) installed on it.
Service ora10g was working before upgradation of Database to 10.2.0.5.0 and it was fine.
On upgradation I was unable to start and connect using ora10g so I created another that is bit10g.
Service bit10g was working fine for quite a long time. The last I worked and connected was on thu and it was connecting with no issues.
Now when I am trying to connect to database today I am unable to connect as I am getting
ORA12514 - TNS:listener does not currently know of service.
Secondly I tried to search forums which guided me to check the Listener Status.

  • Service to get XMIIIDOC01 listener status?

    Hi
Is there a service to get the XMIIIDOC01 listener status
    Thanks
    Ajay.

    Hi ,
As I understand from your question is, you want to check the status of XMIIIDOC01
Go to the MII Menu screen ---> Message Services ---> select the XMIIIDOC01 and click the status
If it properly configured with your SAP IDOC, it will show Server Connected and even you can see the SAP Server, SAP Client that columns.
If not, its show Server not connect. For this you need to go for SAP NetWeaver  screen and configure the SAP details to your XMIIIDOC01(i.e. Configuration Management --> Infrastructure --> Application Resources --> select Resource Adapter --> select XMIIIDOC01 --> go to properties and update all the details of SAP).
    Thanks,

  • Listener status during upgradation

    Hi all,
We are upgrading 10.2.0.4 enterprise edition single instance to 11.2.0.3 enterprise edition single edition manually. What should the listener status while doing upgradation. This is my first upgradation project. Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Sandy

Normally when you do an upgradation, the database services needs to be down with only the database being opened with the option "startup upgrade".
The listener on the database server to be upgraded needs to be down. Make sure you take the backup of the listener.ora and the tnsnames.ora file located in the 10g Home and once when you plan up to delete this home after the database is upgraded to 11g, you have a new listener created with the 11g Home

I just recently checked the OEM again and I see that it says the OEM is looking for the Listener.ora file at
    LISTENER.ORA Location          /opt/oracle/product/10.2/db_1/network/admin
Whereas, it is really located at
    */opt/oracle/tkdb/network/admin*
How might I go about changing where OEM thinks my Listener is? I changed the PATH variable to the correct location, and restarted the OEM via, emctl stop dbconsole, then emctl start dbconsole - It still is registering the wrong path.
    Any help appreciated,

During my troubleshooting the EM problem, I had added the following code to the listener.ora SID_LIST_LISTENER section, and re-started the LISTENER service. I was thinking that my EM problem had to do with the database not registering itself with the listener:
        (SID_DESC =

I think I should somehow remove the instance with a status of UNKNOWN (see <<<<<<<<<<<<<< ???? above).
    Any recommendations please?
    Thanks,
    Bob

It is nothing to worry about when you see the same instance showing up twice, once with status READY and once with status UNKNOWN.
READY means listener knows this because PMON of that instance told him so (dynamic registration)
UNKNOWN means listener knows this because of SID_LIST entry in the listener.ora (static registration)
Both is useful. Nothing broken here, so no need to fix it :-)

  • Listener Status Pending

    Hi,
I can't figure out how to get grid control to show me the proper status of my listener. It can connect to it, stop/start it, but it always shows me "status pending".
Why's that? And how to I get it "right"?
    Any help/pointers would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David Schrader

Status Pending often means oem cant talk to your server.
Double check dns abilities for your db server to see oem web server and visa versa.

env|sortfor both "oracle" and "oracle2", and if they aren't who you are logged on as, do it for that user as well.
    (surely you aren't doing this as root . . . .)

You have the tns problem that triggers an underlying error, but on top of that you have the problem that Oracle cannot find the message file that it needs to properly report the tns problem.

  • Listener Status Unavailable in EM

Hi, How can I fix the Listener in EM so that it is not a red arrow pointing doen with status unavailable? THanks,

    Hi Aman,
Sorry for the delay. Below are the results from my "status" query.
This seems very challenging. The urgency to get EM working properly is no longer there, but I would still like to get it working. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks, Tom

  • MTA Unknown Status - Not Listening

Recently we installed GroupWise monitor on the same server as the MTA.
When I go to view the monitor webpage all the components (pos, gwia, webacc) all show green and happy, but the MTA shows the "Not Listening" status. Here's the fun part.
When monitoring the MTA using the MTA console everything looks fine.
However, when you click on the "Not Listening" link in GroupWise monitor it shows the MTA's address as the old Netware server's address that we migrated from. Hence the "Not Listening" status. Not sure why the old address is showing. I've looked all through the startup files for the post offices, MTA, GWIA and Webacc for anything that might reference the old MTA's ip address, but couldn't find anything.
It's really not a big deal since we can monitor it via the MTA's console, but it would be nice to have it available in the GroupWise monitor page so we can set traps, notifications, etc, etc.
Is there anyway I can fix this?

I will attempt to make a backup of the main DB and then rebuild it and then the POAs afterwards and see if that fixes anything. On another note... do you think that bad link information in the databases could be causing the post offices and webmail agents to just randomly quit once or twice daily. We've been having this issue since we upgraded to GW8. It may be another issue completely. Just curious what your thoughts were.

Is this your primary domain? Is it the parent of the GWMonitor object/app? If you have multiple domains, connect ConsoleOne to each one and verify the IP of the object in the MTA (not domain) properties. You might even consider a rebuild of the domain. If the child POs still don't connect w/o that switch (after you've verified the correct address in the MTA), you might consider rebuilding them too. They either aren't getting the updated info from the domain or the domain doesn't have the right info to begin with.
    Report back what you find.
