Listening to a track preview

I cannot get Itunes to let me play a track preview before I purchase, is this an option with itunes or not?

It is an option. When you're looking at song listings in the iTunes store, single or double click (depending upon how you have your mouse set up) on any song title and the preview should start playing. To be safe, try to make sure your mouse pointer is in the space between the track number and the song title, but still inside the track number box. (Then you won't get any other windows opening by accident.)

Flash is required for most YouTube content.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Now open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that doesn't help, go back to System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced then click Check Now. There may be a Flash update available.

It sounds like either your hard drive or the SATA cable that connects it to the motherboard are failing. This could be heat related in your case, which is why you see it after it runs awhile. You can take it to the Genius Bar for a free evaluation. If you decide to test it yourself, I usually suggest moving the hard drive to an external enclosure. If it works there for awhile, the cable is probably the issue.

Cannot listen to recorded track

I am pretty much a novice with Garage Band. I do a weekly podcast during football season the last time was in Dec 2007. Last year I would record, then then I could listen to the track to edit, then add my opening and closing.
So last year I would finish recording, go back to the start and hit play. When I do that now is says its playing and I see the screen, but no sound. Mute it not on, I open ITUNES and the sound is working right.
What am I doing wrong??? HELP??

HT2045 itunes want's me to authorise my computer to listen to a track but it's already authorised.

I have just purchased a single form itunes & it's telling that I have to authorise the computer in order to play it. This has never happened before that I can remember. When I add my apple ID & Password it tells me the computer is already authorised. When I sync my ipod it just skips the track. I am not very happy that I have just paid for the track & I can't listen to it.

Delete and redownload it if doing so is free in your country.

Recording on a track, while listening to another track...

Basically I currently have a blank track armed for recording with effects, and I have track 2 with an instrumental track. On the third track I have a song that I would like to listen to while recording, BUT not turn up in the recoding. Currently all 3 tracks turn up in the recording. I would only like track 1 and 2 to be in the final product. I need to listen to track 3 for reference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have Adition 3.0 with antares autotune installed on a PC, if this helps.

Thanks so much for your reply. I am still a bit confused as to what exactly I have to do as this is really my first day using Adobe for my project.
Basically I have gone to the Windows mixer recording and I can verify that only the Mic that I am using is selected. That is good.
I have the audition mix to "always input" so I can hear what my recording is 'live'.
When you mention re routing things to inputs, would this be in the Adobe auditon program, or windows.
I would think that what I'm trying to do is very basic, which is setting the first track 'armed for record', which works fine (although I realize you said it will be dry until I 'save as an mp3' (i think))
the second track will be the 'instrumental track' which I would like to be in the final output without track 3
track 3 is the full song (with lyrics and instrument) which I just need for when I'm recording so I know when to say certain words and such..
the problem is, is when I go to record (with the mic), I am recording all 3 tracks, which is logical, but i only want my recording to end up having track 2 (instrumental) and track 1 (my mic) ....
is there no way I can simply select which tracks to end up in the recording on track 1?
also, track one I believe, once I've recorded, has all 3 tracks combined, which I only want to have track 1 and 2.
also, when i got to edit--> rewire setup, and click 'enable' ...it says I have no re wire programs on my computer....
maybe i have to select my track 3 for "read, write, touch, latch" settings (which are all currently set to 'read')?
sorry if I'm making things more complicated then they have to be...just need to get cracking on this asap....

I have an Alpine radio with an iPod dock adapter to let me control my iPod through my head unit. This had worked great with my Nano, but I heard that these adapters didn't work well with the iPhones. Mostly due to interference / feedback from the phone being heard through the speakers.
However, I was suprised at the compatiblity mine had with the iPhone, especially being that it is a couple years old (the apadpter). When you plug the iPhone in it says that the device may not be compatible with the iPhone and that you should put the phone in "airplane mode." I just kept my nano plugged in as I thought that I didn't want the equivalent of turning my phone OFF when driving, so one day I tapped NO. Well, to my suprise, I did not hear any feedback or interference through my stereo. And, In fact, While I was driving, I received a call and the music stopped and the phone rang!
So, your mileage may vary on whichever brand adapter you use, but I have found that it works just fine for me. Hope this helps.

Multiple Audio Tracks - Previewing

I am using Encore with CS5. On a PC with an Intel i7 processor and lots of disk space.
I have two buttons on the menu - one links to the video which of course, has audio it's audio track in Audio 1; the other links to the audio file on Audio 2 of the same timeline.
The 'menu' is a video file that I created in Premiere Pro (imported as a video asset). In the motion tab, I linked the blank menu to the video clip , and the audio to the the video clip as well.   I just simply added two buttons to the menu.
When I preview the project all is good with the menu, the video clip and audio plays and I can select the buttons I added. When I select either button, the video begins for about a second, then starts again and plays normally (with the correct audio based on what button I selected).   I have not used an alternate audio track like this before, so I don't know if this is a bug, or something else. Or, maybe the DVD, once created, will play OK. I've not bothered to render out the DVD itself, though I suppose I should (on disk, I don't like throwing away DVD disks).
Has anyone run into this before, where the your movie starts for a second, then stops and starts again?

OK, I rendered the DVD to a file and it played as expected, however, when I burned it to a DVD disk, I got a similar result, but not exactly. When I play the video using either button, the vidoe starts, pauses for the brief second, then continues. So, still an issue. I'm guessing a bug. But I'm willing to hear any recommendations. I'll proceed as if it is a bug and start that time tested process of removing features and retrying until it either works, or I give up on using this feature.
Update:
Found it, I think. The audio file on Audio 2 does not start at the very beginning of the timeline. I want it to start about 2 seconds into the video. The audio has to 'line up' with the video, but because this audio is a commentary, and did not start at the exact beginning of the video, it has to begin the two seconds into it. So, I need to add about 2 seconds of silence in front of the commentary audio to have it start at the "beginning".   It's too late to re-take the commentary, but for those that are looking to use this feature, be aware of this 'requirement' of Encore.

Yes, you can do this. It has been in iMovie since iMovie 08.

Multiple video track preview switching

I am puting together concert footage from 4 different cameras. I have all 4 tracks synced to my main audio. before I start doing my edits I really just want to be able to watch the canvas while switching tracks. this would allow me to put in markers for spefic shots I know I want to cut to on each track. I can find no way to do this. everytime you click anywhere playback stops. Is there anyway to switch tracks during playback or should I boot up my old dell and do this on vegas video?

To create PIPs as VJK suggests you could try the Quarter PIP free filter: apply it to each clip in the 4 tracks and set a proper Position for each so the clips do not overlap (see also the examples in the web page).

No audio through HDMI cable when listening to audio tracks but ok with vids

Ok I hooked up my HP to my Samsung 1080p hdtv through an HDMI cable. My computer displays fine on the TV, the visualizer in ITunes shows just fine, but the audio only comes out of the speakers on my laptop when playing a regular music track. When it plays one of the bonus music videos on the same album, audio and video both play. When I play the songs in any other interface, ie windows media player and HP quick play, audio tracks play fine through HDMI. So this has to be something with ITunes. Anyone know what the problem is?

Wouldn't you know it, just figured it out. You have to make sure that itunes is not loaded before hooking up the HDMI cable. So,
turn off itunes,
hook up the HDMI cable,
(go to sound [control panel] and make sure that HDMI has the checkmark next to it),
load itunes,
enjoy.

Have windows 7, newest update for itunes, why does it take more than one attempt to listen to a preview of song, sometimes it neve lets me listen to the whole preview, any suggestions? please help.

Okay.
Warning in advance: experimental advice.
The way that some of these have been responding to cache resets, but some haven't, has been making me wonder if we've got some form of trouble in the cache.db file. If the trouble is minor, a cache reset can fix it. But if the trouble is of the right/wrong sort, it might also prevent a cache reset from going through properly. (Similar things can happen with Safari for Windows preferences/settings/database files.) If that's what is afoot with you, then we might be able to get past this by manually removing the cache.db.
Quit iTunes before proceeding.
To get at the cache.db, first we'd need to change some view settings on the PC.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
Click OK.
Now, in Computer, open your C:\, drive.
Open the "Users" folder.
Open the folder with the name of your Windows user account.
Open the "AppData" folder.
Open the "Local" folder.
Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Open the "iTunes" folder.
Drag the Cache.db file out of the folder and onto your desktop.
Launch iTunes and visit the Store again. Can you get full previews now?

Is there a way to listen tracks from my harddrive and delete them directly?

I have a simple thing i like to do, but i can't figure out how to do it..
I have a lot of music on my external harddrive, and i want to listen to a track and if i don't like it i want to delete it.
I don't like using itunes, because a lot of tracks are not part of an album and then i can never find them again. I use traktor to browse to my folders, but from that program i can't delete the tracks. Then i have to search for the track in finder..and delete it from there.
Is there a way to listen to my tracks from my harddrive and delete them on the spot?

Well you can place it in the Trash, then delete the Trash all at once.
Right click on the song in the Library and select Delete.
This next window can be prevented to show again by checking the Do Not Ask Me Again box
Bam, click the Move to Trash and it's in the Trash,
when your done for the day, before you remove any media, you click Finder > Empty Trash and they are all gone at one time.
This method is better in case you make a mistake, you can grab it out of the Trash and put it back.
I think the Delete key on the keyboard is even faster than the right click selection, you'll have to find out.
You also can use something like QuickKeys and scheduale a sequence of mouse click events so a simple keystroke like Control D can delete the song to the Trash.
