Listening to iPhone music in car

Are there any accessories yet that allow you to listen to your iPhone music in the car (or your home) by transmitting through the radio like there are for iPods?

Sorry to differ with the previous answer, but I have had no luck with the fm converter. The iPhone seems to generate a lot of fm static, and in my area, there are very few open frequencies. One of my cars has a cassette player, and that converter works well. In the other with only a radio and CD, I haven't found a good solution yet. Crutchfield sells conversion kits for the factory radios to put in an auxilliary plug, and also a $200 Alpine fm unit that supposedly works well. It's a leased car, so I don't feel like removing the radio and making changes, and $200 for the bulky alpine unit doesn't sound great either. I'm still looking for a better solution.

  • How to listen to iTunes music in cars

I've recently bought a new car and I'm going to my grandparents in Florida for Thanksgiving, so I was thinking about trying to burn a few CDs with a few albums on it for the whole 12 hour drive. Is mp4 a format that can be played in cars or would I have to use another program to burn the CDs so I can listen to the music in the car?

Unless the CD player specifically states it supports MP3 CDs, the files must be in WAV format.
If there is an Aux input, Bluetooth A2DP, or a USB port in the car they would all be infinitely superior ways to get content to play.

  • Listening to iPhone music thru iTunes

I usually use my iPod and do this but I am wondering why I can't do this with my iPhone. My main library is at home and I sync both my iPhone and iPod with that library. When I come into work I plug in both my iPhone and iPod. My music show up thru iTunes with my iPod just fine and I can play anything on my iPod. When I plug in my iPhone my music showes up all grey and I can't play anything thru itunes that is on it. This is really stupid if you ask me if they locked out this feature. I want to be able to play my iphone music thru iTunes. Is this possable?

They are all like that. Your iPhone is behaving normally.
Is your coworkers iPod Touch syncing music with his work computer? If so, the music will not be greyed out and will work as you are seeing. The iPhone and Touch will have the songs playable only with the library with which they sync.

  • Limiting radio interference when listening to iPhone in the car

I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this semi-problem. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee LImited - with both a cd and tape player. I used a cassette adapater with my former iPod- worked fine. I recently purchased an iPhone and the Belkin iPhone Headphone Adapter. The adapter works fine and I can listen to the iPod feature on my iPhone. However, every once in a while I will get radio interference in my speakers.
I know I can switch to airplane mode - but that sort of defeats the purpose! Any ideas out there to get ride of the interference? Thanks!

I get this when I listen to Sirius. You can never keep the same empty station on the radio when you travel between as many cities as I do.
There is a device that was made witch basically severs the connection between the radio and the antenna on your car. The device costs about $20-$40 depending on where you get it and sales. If you have Sirius or XM you can just install that device and solve the problem for both the Sat Radio and the Belkin transmitter.
The downside to this is that you will still need to have the satelite radio turned on to stop the antenna connection.
Basically without the full length of the antenna on the car, you can only hear the loudest and clearest stations. This will leave you with hundreds of choices rather than 2 or 3.
I do not know if they make a similar device with a switch rather than relying on the satelite signal, but it could be worth a check.

If you're not eligible for upgrade, it will tell you how much more than US$199 you will be charged.

  • IPhone 4S/ BLuetooth/listening to music from my iPhone in my car

I'm looking a purchasing the Plantronics - Voyager Legend Bluetooth Headset - to go with my iPhone 4s running IOS 6.0.1.  Here is my question...I currently listen to music from my iPhone in my car, and I use the earphone jack to connect it to the car stereo.  My fear is that if I have the bluetooth headset paired up with the phone, my music will no longer go through my car speakers, but will rather go through my bluetooth headset.  Can anyone clarify this issue for me, specifically....will I be able to still listen to music from my iPhone 4S through my car stereo, if a bluetooth headset is paired with my phone, but yet if a call comes through, that will route through the bluetooth headset.
Alternatively, is there a way I could turn the Bluetooth headset on for calls and off for music?
    Thanks
    Any suggestions

Good question. Because your iphone is connected with an AUX cable, the normal audio should run through there and I'd EXPECT that the calls should be routed to the bluetooth headset if one is connected.
In the case the music get's routed to your headset - you should be able to go to the 'music app' (whichever one you're using) and you SHOULD be able to switch the audio output (see below). Mine show "Apple TV" - but your bluetooth device would be displayed here as well - mine is just turned off at the moment.

  • How can i get my car to change the track when i am listening to the music on my phone through the line-in?

how can i get my car to change the track when i am listening to the music on my phone through the line-in? is there a app i can download so it will recognize it? i have a vauxhal astra and the controls are on the steering wheel

First question is how old is Astra and you are in UK ( well you must be to have a Vauxhall)
Normally the Radio only has a line in socket  to allow sound
You have two choices here either a simple cable with a 3.5mm Headphone plus at each end
or a cable with the headphone plug to place in car's line in plug and a wide Apple socket to fit the base of your iPhone This allegedly gives better sound but  you have to control the iPhone for music selection
The equipment you need to control the iPhone from the Steering Wheel controls ,which I suspect currently handles radio /Cd  tracks /stations ,is much more complicated it will have to be integrate with the Factory Fitted  radio
and designed to manage the S/Wheel  controls and translate to the iPhone .
Fitted into back of radio etc etc
If car is a recent Vauxhall there may be a kit available from them .but will not be cheap
Many imponderables you did not give much away in your OP

  • Listen to my iphone on the car

does any one knows what I can use to listen to my iphone on my car? is there something designed for the iphone already or do I have to use the ipod stuff?

The Kennsington 33185 is fantastic. It is a FM transmiter that is made for Ipods. When you plug in an Iphone a screen comes up saying it doesn't work but you click cancel and it works like a dream with incredible sound as well as charging your phone. If a call comes in the music mutes and the phone rings. There is enough cord to pick up and answer the call. If you go to radio schack and buy the RF shield device for $6 you won't get any interference when the cell changes. Works great.

  • Can't listen to any music on my iPhone 5, when I press play it just skips to the next song, does that for a few seconds, then goes back to artist/album/song list. HELP!!

I just updated my iTunes on my laptop to the newest version. I connected my iPhone five to the laptop, and it asked me something about a restore. I wasn't thinking, confused "restore" with "sync" and I just hit yes.... I know, dumb. Anyways, I logged into iTunes on my laptop, downloaded all my purchased songs through the cloud, did a backup, then disconnected it. When I used my phone again, everything was different. All my backgrounds had changed, my apps were rearranged, I had old apps on my phone that I had previously deleted, etc., all signs pointing to me restoring my phone to a previous version.. None of that bothered me, I knew how to deal with it and just changed everything back to the way I had it before the restore, and everything was fine.
Until I went to listen to some music on my iPod. I made my album choice, selected a song, and instead if it playing, it was silence. I looked at my phone and it was skipping through the songs without ever playing a single sound. That bar that shows how far through the song you are? It never moved from zero, but my songs were skipping and skipping and skipping, almost like I was hitting the "skip track" button, only faster.
Should I re-restore my phone? Would that possibly fix it? I've checked, and my iOS and my iTunes and iPod version are all up to date.
PLEASE HELP ME!! I can't find this topic anywhere in support, and I NEEEEEED my music.

    Hello avenmaven,
Thank you for all the information you provided, and congratulations on your new laptop!
I do not think this has to do with setting up iCloud on your new computer.  You might not have the option to manually manage music checked on your devices.  This box would need to be checked if you are dragging content over to your iPhone or trying to delete by pressing the delete key:
You can find more information at the full article:

  • How to listen to iphone ipod through my car stereo?

Before the iphone, I had the ipod shuffle. I used the connector with the shuffle to my aux power plug-in and it worked great. This same connector fits the iphone but no music comes through the speakers? I sometimes get loud "cracks" like something is trying to connect and I've also gotten muffled sounds coming through. The connector I bought is an apple connector and iphone compatible. I tried turning on airport mode and that didn't do anything either. Do I need some other kind of connector? Why wouldn't apple make one connector to fit all their ipods? Very frustrating as I can't listen to my music on my phone while I'm driving.

Yet another thing to think about --
Your iPod or your Shuffle connects directly to your FM interface and plays.
The iPhone and the Touch don't connect directly to your FM -- they require an intermediary interface to "read" the program from the iPhone or Touch...in essence, it disables your iPhone or Touch while connecting to your FM auxilliary-in...in order to listen you need a program in-between that will allow you to change your music and listen, because your handheld iPhone/Touch becomes inopperable while it is hooked up to your FM interface.
Just a thought. I stuck with an FM transmitter when I found that I would be unable to use the direct cable interface with my Ford mach 300 stereo without yet another display interface on my dashboard...no thanks, already have my satellite radio interface there, no need for yet another one.
