Listening to ipod on different computers

I want to listen to my ipod at work and installed itunes, but cannot figure out how to pull the songs from my ipod onto the work pc. The only option I saw was to transfer purchased songs, but I only have a dozen songs that were purchased from itunes. Is there a way to work around this? I paid for the music via cds, etc. so the content is mine. I have over 9g worth, so burning to cds, etc. is kind of out of the question. I just want to listen to my ipod on my pc at work. Help!

A couple of options:
1. Perhaps the simplest, connect the speakers you have at work directly to your iPod's headphone jack (or connect them to a dock output).
2. Put your iPod in manual mode (not auto-sync) and connect it to your iTunes at work. You can play your iPod's contents directly through iTunes.
3. Leave your iPod in auto-sync mode, but use a 3rd party software (e.g. Music Rescue or Yamipod) to extract your iPod's contents and put into your work iTunes. Note that you'll have to authorize the work computer to play any protected iTunes purchases.

  • Dowloading Music onto iPod from different computers

I have a PC & a laptop, each having different music on them...my question is, I had downloaded songs to my iPod mini & then later on plugged it into the laptop to download different songs & it erased all my music that was downloaded from the pc! Is it not possible to use different computers with your iPod?

    Vanessa,
That's also my name, by the way lol.
The reason why iTunes erased your library is because you are copying music from 2 different libraries. iTunes only lets you have 1 library to prevent music stealing.
Check out this link if you want to know how to use multiple computers but only 1 iPod

  • Connecting different iPods to different computers

My wife has a 4th gen iPod and wants to connect to each of our laptops. I have music and photos on my laptop and she has other music and photos on hers. Back in the old days of iTunes you can set up iPod prefs before you plugged it in. How can she plug into each laptop and download selected songs, photos, files or whatever without erasing what she has on it. I am thinking of getting a new iPod video for myself and doing the same thing. We are running the latest version of iTunes.

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to change your settings: iTunes Keyboard Shortcuts for OSX
Once you are connected change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
You can only load photos from one computer. There's no manual mode for photos just different ways to sync so adding photos can only happen from one computer or user account: iPod Photo Sync FAQ

  • One ipod two different computers...

I have had my ipod classic for about 2 years now and I recently got a new lap top. All of my music and videos are on my desktop computer. I downloaded itunes to my lap top but when I plug in my ipod the itunes doesnt have any music in it. How do i get the music from my desktop computer, which is also on my ipod, to my lap top?

Click here and follow the instructions, or network the computers and move the songs over.

  • Same ipod two different computers

I need to start using my laptop for my itunes and ipod. Thing is, my ipod has never been used on the laptop. Is there a way to transport all of the music from my ipod to the laptop or would I be better off getting a personal media drive for all my music? - my ipod is a fifth generation 60GB video and i use windows xp

Is all of your music on your iPod? If so, there really isn't a need to move your music library to your laptop unless you plan to start buying music or importing CDs on the laptop.
I use my home PC to import and buy. At work, I connect the iPod to the work PC and use iTunes to play the music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly off the iPod. It's funny that my 60GB iPod has a larger HD than my work PC\.
On weekends, I set my iPod to sync music and podcasts. During the week, I have the iPod set on manual sync yst still automatically sync podcasts. This works great for me. YMMV.
Looks like I will buying a MacBook Pro in October. I plan to do the same with the MBP as with my work PC as for as iTunes is concerned.
    Enjoy life!

  • Loading songs onto same iPod, different computers

Can you load your iPod from different computers (iTunes installed on both)? When I tried to load some new stuff from a different location, it says it's linked to another iTunes library, do I want to replace what's on the iPod with the new library (something like that). Will this wipe out all my current songs on my ipod?

    Yes it will.
Sadly you can't change the settings inside iTunes until the iPod is connected... the default setting is to automatically update the connected iPod with the computer's music library.
However, it is possible to do, although a little unconventional and would probably not be something apple would recommend...I have done it several times with no effect to the iPod.
    Connect it to your computer
As soon as iTunes recognises it, change the settings so that you manually update iPod, then...
manually disconnect your iPod without ejecting it
Wait for a few moments and...
    Bob is your uncle!
Reconnect and manually update at your own leisure keeping your old tunes

  • Can someone help me get my IPOD Touch 3g started? It will only flash the Apple logo off and on. Has been through restore multiple times on different computers, and still will not start.

I have tried restoring the ipod on different computers, one Vista, and one 7. On both, the restore process seems to complete just as it should, until the point where it says "your IPOD will now restart and will appear in listed devices. This IPOD never restarts. The Apple logo just stays on for approximately 30 seconds and then the screen turns off for five or ten seconds and the logo comes back on, over and over for approximately forty five minutes or so, Occasionally the "connect to USB" will come back on, but that is rare. When that does happen, the I-Tunes recognizes it again as an IPOD that needs to complete the restore process. VERRRRRY AGGRAVATING!!!

Time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. It appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Can I listen to the music on my iPhone through 2 different computers?

Id like to listen to the music on my iPhone through two different computers, without the whole sync thing. Like iPods have done forever. Is that possible?

You can transfer iTunes content from an iTunes library on a single computer only.
Since these songs were purchased with the same iTunes account, you can download the song that is not in your iTunes library on the computer you will be syncing your iPhone with. Or you can download the song or songs direct on your iPhone.

  • How many different computers can i sync my ipod to and transfur music from?

how many different computers can i sync my ipod to and transfur music from? i am trying to sync my ipod to another laptop and add my music to that computer but i was wondering if there was a limit on how many computers you can do that with. thanks all.

You can authorize up to five computers for your iTunes purchases.
If manually managing your device you can add content from any library.
If automactially syncing content is managed from one library.
Purchased content can be transfered from a device into an authorised library, otherwise iTunes only transfers content to the device.

  • HT1386 How many different computers can I sync my iPod with?  My laptop crashed and was completely wiped clean and this was the machine that my iPod synced with so I don't know if it will be counted as a "new" computer.

How many different computers can I sync my iPod with?  My laptop crashed and was completely wiped clean and this was the machine that my iPod synced with so I don't know if it will be counted as a "new" computer when I sync my iPod.

You can sync with onee at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

    any thoughts anyone??

Perhaps the reason you haven't had any replies is because there is no such thing as an 8GB iPod Classic.
I suggest that you begin by correctly identifying which iPod you have.

  • Is there any way to sync apps from different computers in one ipod touch?

    Hi
So, I have synced my iPod touch with iTunes in my mac and now I want to install some applications that my brother has in his computer.
*Is there any way I can sync applications in my iPod touch using different computers, without losing the apps that are already installed in the device?*
Thanks a bunch for your help!
    Best,
    Ezequiel

    Wow, that was fast! thanks!
So, if I do that, I'll transfer all the apps from the iPod to my brother's computer and then I'll just need to sync everything back to my iPod... and I'll also need to do the same thing with my mac, in order not to lose the apps that I copied from my brother's pc, right?
