Listening to iTunes while watching iPhoto slideshow

Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible when activating a slideshow via FrontRow in iPhoto to keep the current music on iTunes playing without interuption?
Currently if iTunes is playing and a slideshow is started the music will stop (I have music disabled in the slideshow preferences).
When creating a slideshow-on-the-fly, the music does play without interuption, but the slideshow settings are always defaulted back to Apple's settings.
I use iTunes to play background music in my studio, then download the photos and run a slideshow via FrontRow for my clients, but it is a bit jarring to have the background music stop all of a sudden.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It works for me. I set up the slide show, selected "Repeat Music during slideshow" in the main settings pane and then unchecked "Play Music" in the Music settings pane. I started iTunes and then the slideshow and all went well.

Here's a possible workaround:
Create the slideshow in Iphoto and add a theme and music.
Install Picasa and it will include the slideshow on it's indexed list.
Upload the slideshow to PicasaWebAlbums and send the link to anyone you wish.
The music and theme is preserved.
Caveat: My playback pictures appear darker than usual but that could be just lousy photography...:)

How to access iTunes playlist for iPhoto slideshow?

In iPhoto 6 when I am setting up a slideshow and click the "Music" button, I am given the option of accessing my full library from iTunes, but my Playlists don't show up anywhere, just the artists' names and individual songs,so I am able to choose just one song for an entire slideshow. How can I access my playlists in the Music settings for iPhoto slideshows?

I have the same problem, I click the arrows and the list drops but I can only select first tune from , sample, garage band, or library. This happens every time I install an update. In the past deleting iTunes playlist has cured the problem but has not worked this time.

Have you checked, if the song plays correctly, when you try to play the song "The Sad Cafe" in iTunes? If you see an exclamation point besides the song, you need to reconnect that dead track to the original file. When you try to playy the song, iTunes should prompt you for the location of the song. Use the File Chooser window, that will pop up, to search for the file and select it.
Then try again to use the song in your slideshow.

How do I use only a portion of a song in my iTunes in my iPhoto slideshow?

I already tried making the song shorter in iTunes by using the start and stop options and it does indeed make the song shorter in iTunes, but when I choose the song within iPhoto, the slideshow uses the long version of the song. What do I need to do to just use like a minute of the song in the slideshow?

The settings you use to play in iTunes do not get retained in other apps. What you can do is open Garage Band, drag the song from iTunes into a GB track, then edit the song as you like. You can even adjust the fade in/out exactly to the length and duration you want. When the song is trimmed, Share to iTunes, where it will become a separate song. Select that for your slideshow, or place it in an iTunes playlist and use the playlist for your slideshow.

I can't import a song from iTunes to an iPhoto slideshow.

I'm trying to import a song as background music in a slideshow, and the song plays just fine in iTunes, but when I try to add it to my slideshow, I get the message "The (name of song) could not be used because the original file could not be located." How can it play in iTunes, but not in iPhoto? I tried "Get Info" to see where the original file was kept and then dragged it into the iTunes music folder, but that didn't work. I've never had this happen with any other song. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I don't build slide shows, so not sure how hard it is to do in iDVD, but you can burn a song to CD and then rip it back into iTunes. Then you can edit the song in Garage Band. You might want to do this with a number of songs that you might use in one sitting, as it's pretty tedious.
One other thought: check if Amazon has the mp3 of the same song. The content there is not protected (I think the music producers cut that deal just to stick it to Apple) and is $0.99 per song like on iTunes. Might be worth another buck to avoid all this hassle. iTunes is easier to search and buy from (IMO) and has a better selection, but you might get lucky at Amazon. I've ended up buying the same song again at Amazon just for this reason.

Trouble with itunes playlist and iphoto slideshow

I have created the slideshow in iphoto with background music from a playlist from itunes. It all looks great and plays perfectly in iphoto but after the conversion into a movie using Quicktime only the first song from the playlist accompanies the slideshow. I have done this before with an earlier slideshow and it all worked out great: Slideshow became movie accompanied by the whole playlist. This problem seems to have occurred since I upgraded to itunes 7.6 and Quicktime 7.4 Any ideas or hints would greatly appreciated.

my advice has always been to rebuid any arrays with the new OS.
backup, delete, restore/reload
And invest in SoftRAID for your driver for all drives but esp. for mirror.
TimeMachine - I'd pull your current backup drive and use a new one.
And clone.
Never rely on one backup set, or method.
iTunes has always been.... interesting. Maybe someone in iTunes forums, and Lion community.
I have always had iTunes and my media/data personal account home folder (back to 10.2 days) on separate drive volumes. Often stripped. Vista + itunes + RAID = corrupt data, but that was 2007.
Shift launch iTunes. Told it where Media Library is. There are Apple support articles to cover this.

Listening to itunes while ipod is not connected

ok, i used to be able to listen to my music on itunes wihtout my ipod connected. But now none of my music is there!! i can connect my ipod to it to listen, but i cannot copy the playlists over to the computer. I found a file with all my music in it but i had to add each one idividualy, and now i can't organize it, it won't let me create a new folder with music in it or move the songs .... i am sooo frusterated :s

iTunes doesn't support playing back from iPod. Did you delete you library files for some reason?

Using Itunes while playing RPG or runescape

recently I have started having some annoying interference with Itunes while playing Runescape. I always have liked to listen to Itunes while playing the online role playing game but recently I have had static that results when I move around on the game to another area that requires loading of data as is typical of any RPG. This never occurred until now. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don't use anti virus since I have a mac, but the web browser is running since it is part of the online game, but I have always ran it that way, it seems the problem started around the time I upgraded to iLife 08

Iphoto slideshow--adjusting music timing

Hello all,
Here's my issue...I'd like to add music (from Itunes) to my Iphoto slideshow. I want to adjust the timing of the song played (i.e. in Itunes I can choose a start time and end time for each song by getting info). However, when I make these adjustments in my Itunes playlist, then select that playlist for use in the slideshow, it plays the songs with their standard timings.
Is there any way I can get Iphoto to recognize these timing changes or do I have to play each song in its entirety?

Editing in iTunes:
Select Song. Get info>Options. Edit start stop times.
When edited, select song. Advanced menu_ convert selection to AAC ( of format you have set in preferences).
Arrange library window by "Date Added" -- It will be the newest thing but this new copy won't have a title etc. Rename.
this works for your imported music. I am not sure if it will work with purchased tracks from the ITMS as I have not tried it yet.

Combine music video in an iPhoto slideshow?

Can I put a music video (purchased from iTunes) into an iPhoto slideshow? The iPhoto slideshow has about 100 photos, with the photos displayed for the duration of the music playlist I've selected. I'm wondering if I can add a music video to this slideshow, where the aformentioned music stops playing...the music video plays...then the slideshow resumes playing with the photos and music?

When playing a slideshow directly from an album the show will start with the first photo in the album unless another photo is selected. In that case the slideshow will begin with the selected photo.
There's also an setting pane for the album slideshow with an option to randomize the photos with each playing.
Make sure the Shuffle checkbox is not selected.

Yes, it is standard. But be sure you're looking in your main library, not the library in your home folder. But I recently discovered something far more convenient in the Developer folder. You can install the developer tools on your install/restore disk.
Check out *Developer > Extras > PreferencePanes > Processor.prefPane*
That'll actually let you modify the CPU activation settings from your menu bar or *System Preferences*.

in iphoto slide show when itunes music is selscted it doesn't show any music files available within the drop down menu, how do i get the itune music pfiles into that program (iphoto)

When watching a slideshow I could always access music from my iTunes folder. Suddenly today I can only hear music under the 'theme' tab. I can see my music in iTunes but when I double click on it nothing happens!

In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
Then quit and restart iPhoto.
