Listening to music on the iPad

I get that this will seem like an utterly ridiculous question but how the heck do I listen to the music on my iPad? From my iTunes app on my computer, it appears that I have all my music sync's with the iPad but I guess I have a low IQ because I can't figure out how to actually listen to my music from my iPad. Thanks in advance for helping out a knuckle dragger.

You might find the iPad User's Guide for iOS 4.2 helpful:

The older version is still available if you haven't upgraded to the new OS yet. Just click on the Support tab above, then select iPad, and go to the Manuals section.

  • Ipad2: How to listen to Music in the background (Multi-Tasking)?

    Hi all,
Can someone please help me - I can't seem to keep my Music playing in the background on my ipad 2 when I then open Safari.
All Music automatically stops playing, it's like background Multi-tasking doesn't work for listening to music and using safari at the same time. Is this the same for everyone using iOS 5.0.1 on ipad2?
Any advice would help. This is driving me nuts!
    Thanks,
    Tanja

I can't offer much. I'm typing this in Safari on my iPad2 while listening to music from the Music app.
Try restarting or resetting your iPad as explained in iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
BTW, most Apple support documents lately give a "file not found when" using a link, but load correctly when  you reload the url.

i feel like crackling sound if i listen to music on my ipad...

I've been using the H2O Audio earphones for about five years. They're amazing. I use them with a waterproof Nano case and listen to audiobooks in the hot tub! They work equally well on dry land and have the standard earphone plug.
    They will laugh--laugh, I tell you--at a little perspiration.

But, don't let perspiration--or any liquid--get into your iPad. Protect it in a ziploc bag, or if you want to get really fancy, modify one of these CleverWraps:

When in iTunes on the computer,my our ipadmshould show under devices.
Click on your ipadmunder devices then go to music at top center of the iTunes window, check what you want to sync for music. You need to set it to a folder if I remember which would have your music in it you want synced.
Same with PDF files.....there should be an option for data or even PDF files at the top center area of iTunes when the iPad is clicked under devices.
If your iPad does not show or you cannot click on it under devices which is in the leftane of iTunes, the iPad is not being seen by the computer.
Try unplugging the USB cord from the laptop then give it a few and see if the computer picks it up.

  • After upgrading to IOS 5 I have no access to my music on the IPAD

I installed the IOS 5 on my IPAD 2. Ok the backup, and the restore of the applications.
    But I had two problems.
The first with "Ibooks". I wasn't able to see my books.
I resolved changing the sinchronyzation button from "selected books" to "all the books". After this I have seen the books. Later I switched back to "selected books" and everything is now OK.
The second problem was with music, but I haven't resolved it yet.
I have some GB of music on the IPAD, I see that Itunes writes the songs on the IPAD while sinchronizing, but when I open "music" on the IPAD it's empty.
I have an app that manage music (Planetary). It show the songs, but it doesn't play them.
Is there anyone who knows this problem?
    Thank you

I resolved simply restarting the Ipad. (Windows docet)

  • HT4914 I have 25 GB of songs on my Ipod. I want to buy an IPAD. If I use ICloud to sync my music, will the IPAD use 25 gigs of space? I am trying to decide which I pad to get and 32 Gigs would be plenty, if the 25 gigs already on my Ipod do not count.

I own an Ipod with 27 GB of music. I am considering an Ipad. If I use ICloud to sync my devices, will the new Ipad use 27 GB? The answer to this question will affect which GB size Ipad that I buy. Thanks!

If you put the music on the ipad, then it will use the space.

  • I lost my ITunes library when my windows laptop had a major glitch. Have recovered about half of it. All of my library is on my Ipad- can pull this music from the IPad when I connect it to the laptop in ITunes? Thanks.

I lost all of my ITunes library when my windows laptop had a major glitch. I have all of my music on an IPad and IPhone. Can I pull the music from the IPad or IPhone when I connect them in ITunes? Thanks.

One application that's able to accomplish what you want is called Senuti.

I've used it many times to recover music from my iPod to iTunes.

  • Had to restore my computer and now have music on the iPad that I would like to transfer back to the computer. How do I do this?

Had to restore my computer and now have music on the iPad that I would like to transfer back to the computer. How do I do this? (Operating system is Windows Vista)

This depends, if the music was purchased on the iTunes store you can transfer purchases. If it was not then you would need a 3rd party program in order to rip these files to the computer.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • I sold my ipod (which has always been backed up to Itunes/computer)and am waiting for my new ipad.  Do I have to manually download all my apps on the ipad, or will itunes sync my old ipod apps/music to the ipad?

I sold my ipod (which has always been backed up to itunes/computer) and am waiting for a new Ipad.
Do I have to manually download all my apps on the ipad, or will itunes allow me to sync my old ipod apps and music to the ipad?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can sync your music and apps from iTunes. However since you are moving from an iPod to an iPad, many of the apps will have iPad versions which you will need to redownload.

  • Why do I get a "ITunes can't copy music to the IPad?

ITunes stopped copying songs to my IPad 1. I'm upgraded to the most recent IOs 5 version, but when I try to copy my music from ITunes (on a Windows laptop) to my IPad it wont work. I get an error message that says  "ITunes is unable to copy music to ___'s IPad because ITunes is unable to copy music to the IPad. This is a first, I've always been able to transfer my ITunes library to my IPad. I'm not just talking about music Ive copied to ITunes from CD's, it won't copy any of the songs I've purchased through ITunes.
I do have some music on my IPad from ITunes but it wont allow me to add additional music.
    Thanks

You can try deleting all of the music and then sync it back to the iPad.
Uncheck the Sync Music heading in iTunes and then sync the iPad to remove the music. Quit iTunes, and then connect the iPad again, launch iTunes and select the Sync Music heading again to sync the Music back to the iPad.

  • Can you listen to music without the headphones?

Can you listen to music on the iPod Classic without the headphones?

The Classic does not have an internal speaker, so either you need to:
    plug in headphones
connect the iPod to an amplifier and speakers (from the headphone socket)
connect it to an iPod Dock cable and plug that into an amplifier
Place the iPod into the Dock on something that has a Dock connector and amplifier built in.

  • How can I erase music fron the ipad?

Somebody can help me to erase music from the ipad???????

    rbrylawski wrote:
You can't on your iPad.  You can when you connect your iPad to your computer via iTunes.  That's where you manage music, videos, pictures, etc.
As of iOS 5, you can indeed delete music directly from the iPad.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If within warranty (yours is since the warranty is one year) and not abused, Apple will exchange it at no cost.

  • Itunes could not copy music to the ipad because the file could not be converted

iMac Intel Core i3, iPad 2 iOS 5.1.1, iTunes 10.6.3
I am trying to get an album I purchased from iTunes copied to music on my iPad.  I get the message, "iTunes could not copy ... music to the iPad because the file could not be converted."  This happens on only two tracts from the album (Mendelsshon: Concerto for Violin and Orchestra).
I have tried deleting the album from iTunes and downloading it again from iCloud.  I have erased it from my iPad, too.  No matter what I do the same two tracts keep having problems.
Any answers.  All help would be appreciated.
    Judy

This is strange. Perhaps the iTunes Store version of the track is somehow corrupted? That happened once to me, and I submitted a report, and a few weeks later there was a new iTunes Store version that worked ok.
In the meantime, you could try converting it within iTunes to a different format. Use the menu command "Advanced >> Create xxxx version," where "xxxx" is whatever you've set in preferences as your "Import settings." It needs to be different from 256k AAC, which is what you have already from the store.
If iTunes doesn't choke on the conversion, chances are your iPad will accept it.
