Listening to Streamed Radio/Sports on the iPhone

One of the reason I stop using the Treo and got the iPhone, was to listen to streaming audio, particularly MLB and college sports.
Not sure if this is possible now or in the future.
Anyone have any info and updates?

Maestro,
I have been listening to sports radio streams since they started 5-8 years ago.
I was hoping that the iPhone with all its internet-music-iPod-iTunes-Safari features could allow me to listen to my favorite college and pro teams live via an internet stream (that I have and would be happy to pay for)
I am currently pay for a few, particularly Major League Baseball and many colleges and was very disappointed to see that the iPhone does NOT provide this simple feature on a device that can and should provide this simple feature.
I have no interest in watching the video of a game on the iPhone only the audio.

  • Listening to Internet Radio while Browsing the web

Is it possible to listen to Pandora Radio (Internet radio) and browse the web at the same time with my MacBook Pro? I used to be able to do this with my Dell Laptop computer. If so, how do you do this? Thanks.

Open another tab in your browser. Works here using Firefox.
If it doesn't work in Safari, you know what to download.

  • Can't listen to streaming radio question

I'm trying to listen to KROQ from their web site. I get the following error message when I click on the play button: The page “KROQ.com” has content of MIME type “application/x-oleobject”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.
    Any way around this? Thanks!

I can listen to radio from the link you provided, without the need of providing any Passwords..

  • Unable to listen to streaming radio

I recently switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox and I am testing things I did previously to check compatibility.
I am trying to listen to this program
    http://delicast.com/radio/german/Alpenradio_Volksmusik
but Firefox tells me that I need additional add-ons. It recommends Windows Media Player 12 but this version is not designed for Windows XP, my current operating system.
I have just updated my Windows Media Center Edition, followed by an upgrade to Windows Media Player 11, but it still does not play.
Everything works fine in Internet Explorer. What do I need to do in Firefox to make this work?

There is a special plugin for Windows Media Player in Firefox which hasn't changed in several years, but since Microsoft doesn't install it by default, you may need to go get it. Then, because the installer hasn't been updated, you need to adjust a setting in Firefox so Firefox can find it. ''Then'' the site should let you play Windows media.
    * To get the plugin, see: [[Play Windows Media files in Firefox with the Windows Media plugin]]
    * To help Firefox find the file after installation, see: [[Windows Media or other plugins stopped working after Firefox update]]
    Does that fix it?

  • Listening to Radio Streams on the iPhone

Can you listen to a AM/FM radio station that is being streamed on-line using the iPhone's Safari?
I subscribed to MLB.com to listen to baseball games and wondering if you can listen to an audion stream on the iPhone.
    Any info would be appreciated.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:
Streaming audio on an iPhone would throw a pie in the face of XM and Sirius. Apple and AT&T would be insane not to go after this market.
After all, why subscribe to a satellite radio service when you have every internet radio site in your pocket at all times?

  • Why won't the iPhone 5 stream live radio?

I had a 4 that was stolen. While it wasn't perfect in the radio streaming department, (it cut out then without rhyme or reason would stream for longer periods), the iphone 5 is the WORST!! At most I get 4, or 7 or at most 10 minutes of content then *click* stream cut off and I have to enter passcode and reload page. It's 'Groundhog Day' in cycles of minutes. Entirely frustrating. *Does NOT happen with my iPad!! Wads of cash for an "upgrade" that cannot perform such a simple action. Help. Please.

@ Ralph. No. connections are fine. As indicated my iPad works seamlessly. And I've tried two 5's! Both do the same. I HATE not having the capacity to 'Listen Live' to public radio!

  • Streaming radio app isn't working in background anymore on iPhone

    Hi everyone,
Just changed Network provider on my iPhone and since my streaming radio app isn't working in background anymore.
Changed the SIM card, got the new network and since as soon as want to listen to streaming radio while surfing on safari or use an other app the streaming radio app is turning off.
Before could do both without any issues.
I only use the radio app once connected on wifi.
Does anyone have any idea what happened?
Thank you in advance for any answer.
    Cheers

It went well again by itself...
Thank you for those how had a thought about it.
    Cheers.

  • Opening website "this american life" in firefox 4.0.1 causes firefox to crash, but the same site opens and streams radio shows just fine in IE. Suggestions?

I am trying to stream radio shows through the website for This American Life. As soon as I open the site and click on a link, I get the message about an unresponsive script. The next click to tell it to continue or ignore causes Firefox to crash -- the fade to white/not responding thing. The same site runs just fine on IE.

  • Listen to streaming audio in iPod mode?

I like to listen to live feeds of air traffic control while traveling via the website www.liveatc.net. It can stream them through iTunes but I cannot get a feed on my new iPhone. The playlist containing the links didn't seem to sync over from my computer. Any ideas?

It would be nice if iTunes did sync those data streams (radio, etc) to the iPod/iPhone, but it apparently does not. (Dear Apple, please? Along with voice dialing!)
But you can play the LiveATC streams with a bit of work. On the iPhone 3G, you can use FStream (free download available on the iTunes Apps Store). After starting the app, go to Favorites, then "Edit" to "Add new webradio". For the JFK tower, for example, in the URL field, type "http://74.200.85.149:80/kjfk_twr". Remember to SAVE the new favorite. That worked for me.
I don't know if these URLs change from time to time. To find the URL for any web radio station that plays in iTunes, click on the station in iTunes, then Get Info and view the Summary tab to show the station URL.
This has worked so far for several web radio stations and also LiveATC.net air traffic controller streams.
Thanks to FStream for the providing a simple, free way to listen to these streams.
    Good luck!

  • Streaming radio on quicktime problem

I listen to ESPN radio ALOT during the week. On my computer at work, which is a PC, the ESPN radio program works fine. But when I come home to listen to it, it works funny. I dont use my radio in my house cause its not an antenna, its a wire and its hard to find a clear signal for AM radio.
Anyways, when I listen to ESPN radio, quicktime opens and the progression bar starts to load, and the radio runs fine, but when the progression bar finishes loading everything and the arrow in the progression bar reaches the end, it goes back to the beginning of where I turned on the radio and then repeats everything that ive already heard, then whatever else part of the show has now loaded then comes on. How do I make it so this doesnt happen?? sometimes I get really confused and say to myself, I just heard this 10 mins ago. I dont like this at all. It bothers me alot.
If anyone can help, it would be really appreciated
    Thank you

ESPN Radio website has a lot of prerecorded-programs which tend to repeat themselves.
ESPN Radio Live Streams website is I believe where you wanna go to.
You can get it it from the ESPN Radio website but, the words *"+live streaming+"* is hard to find.

  • Streaming Radio Stations AWOL

Okay so I upgraded to the most recent iTunes version because the new "eepo" < that's "iPod" en Español, demanded it.
NOW when I try to listen to streaming radio content I find that MANY of the stations pretend to load but nothing comes out of my headphones but silence.
    ¿WHAT's UP w/ that?
¿Have those stations simply discontinued streaming their broadcasts?
¿How/where can I acquire (download) an updated and more accurate list of stations that do stream actual content and not just dead air?
    I love internet radio!
    ¿Any advice amigos?

Did that yesterday, repair disk permissions. I was able to stream TV news again and the like but still no Virgin Radio Groove, which I listen to everyday! When I opened my iTunes again today, still no Virgin Radio Groove although it's listed as an online radio station. Tried to go to its main web site as well, and I still couldn't access it. Something wrong with not only iTunes but w/ the Quicktime I think. All I get is a big blue Q with a question mark!
    What's happening? Help!
P.S. Is it possible to uninstall the new iTunes and Quicktime versions just so I can get back to my old routine?

  • Itunes 7.0.1 streaming radio and airtunes stutters/ drops out

    Hi there,
With both the upgrade? to 7 and 7.0.1 there is suttering and dropping out of audio when listening to streaming radio thru airtunes. The problem doesn't exist when using realplayer and airfoil accessing the airport express. I know others have experienced this. I thought it would be fixed with this upgrade. Do you think it will be fixed anytime soon?
    thanks,
    rwa

I'm also having the stuttering / dropping out problem.
It seems to me that the latest iTunes (7.0.1) and AE have trouble keeping in sync.
Selecting 'Multiple Speakers' does fix the problem for me, though it's annoying to do that in some situations.
I use AirTunes over both wired (100mbit) and 802.11g conntections, using several computers (a 733mhz G4, powerbook, and macbook). I get the same problem with dropouts / buffering on ALL of them. It's definitely iTunes.

  • How do I listen to streaming music on my iPad?

How do I listen to steaming music on my iPad? I'm trying to listen to a broadcast from WCPE.com in the MP3 format, it plays for awhile, then either pauses while it buffers or just plain quits! I tried TuneIn Radio and it constantly pauses to buffer.  I listen to the broadcast simultaneously on my Windows Laptop with no stopping and only an occasionally buffering!

  • How to delete a streamed radio station

I created a smart playlist for streamed radio stations (using the rule "Kind contains stream").
I don't want to delete the entire smart playlist but there are some individual stations that I now wish to delete. I'm not sure how to do this and any help would be appreciated.

I think I figured it out. I had to go to my main iTunes library to delete the stations I know longer wanted (at first I tried to delete from the smart playlist folder but it wouldn't allow me to delete). Consider my question answered.
