Listing of All Linux Kernel Modules

I've been poking around, trying to find a list of all available Linux kernel Modules..  Does anyone know where such a list may be located?
Basically looking for something that gives the module name (like - nvidia) and then a quick explanation or description of it (like - nVidia Video Card Module).
If I find something, I'll stick it on the wiki; but thought someone may have already run across it somewhere.
thanks!!

This will provide a list of modules
modprobe -c | less
An example output portion will look like this:
alias pci:v00001133d0000E00Bsv*sd*bc*sc*i* hisax
alias pci:v00001133d0000E005sv*sd*bc*sc*i* hisax
alias pci:v00001133d0000E004sv*sd*bc*sc*i* hisax
alias pci:v00001133d0000E002sv*sd*bc*sc*i* hisax
alias pci:v00001244d00000A00sv*sd*bc*sc*i* hisax
alias pcmcia:m*c*f*fn*pfn*paD79E0B84pb21D083AEpc*pd* sedlbauer_cs
alias pcmcia:m*c*f*fn*pfn*pa81FB79F5pbE4E9BC12pcB391AB4Cpd* sedlbauer_cs
alias pcmcia:m*c*f*fn*pfn*pa81FB79F5pbE4E9BC12pc8DB143FEpd* sedlbauer_cs
To get information on what each module does
yum -y install kernel-doc      --This will install the kernel documentation to /usr/share/doc/kernel-doc-*/Documentation      (* is the version of the kernel you are using)
If we wanted to get info on the 'hisax' module
cd /usr/share/doc/kernel-doc-*/Documentation
grep -R -i hisax *                  --This will list any docs on the module, in this case will find that it is a driver for a Siemens ISDN card

  • Slow Shutdown on all Linux kernels but not on Linux-lts kernel

Been having this problem since the beginning of my Linux experience with Arch.
This is my uname -r output:
    3.8.6-1-ARCH
This problem only happens on Linux main kernel, and never happen in Linux-lts kernel. Tried using the method mentioned in the wiki to produce a shutdown log and this is what I got:

My current hypotheses is the acpi_cpufreq that make this problem happens because when I booted into the lts kernel that module is not even loaded. But I can't even blacklist it because even if I make a modprobe.conf to disable it from loading it still be loaded automatically by the kernel. Any help here will be greatly appreciated, I'm not a "just post any problem before trying myself" person. I've tried every method by reading wikis and forums without any success, this is even my first post here . But this problem has been troubling me for a very long time. So please help me guys
Tell me what information do I miss and I'll post it immediately.

Did a fresh install and still having the same problem. Giving up now. Mod can now close this thread

  • Current list of all SAP modules and sub-modules

Can anyone point me to a current and comprehensive list of all available SAP modules and sub-modules?  Currently, the best source I have found for this list is SAPNote 36677, which lists all the structure of components for customer incidents.  However, this SAPNote list is over 23K line items and includes information outside of the modules and sub-modules, in a format that is difficult to normalize.

    Eric,
a similar question was posted in this link: http://scn.sap.com/thread/3652322
Assuming you are looking for an overview on the modules for the SAP Business Suite, personally I like the list in the SAP help
Also a valuable resource is the SAP Release Strategy webpage, which provides link to the Solution Explorer, which shows the available modules by LoB Line of Business or Industry solution, and the official Product List called PAM Product Availability Matrix, which is pretty technical.
    thank you

  • [Request] cryogenic kernel module to reduce power consumption

    Hi there,
I found a very interesting kernel module to reduce power consumption. It is called cryogenic:
Cryogenic is a Linux kernel module that allows to reduce energy consumption by means of enabling cooperative clustering of I/O operations among the various applications that make use of the same hardware device. In order to achieve this target, Cryogenic provides an API that enables applications to schedule I/O operations on SCSI and network devices at times where the impact the operations have on energy consumption is small.
    https://gnunet.org/cryogenic
Is someone interested in packaging this for the AUR?
    Thanks!

What part of that document led you to think it would automagically reduce power consumption without application support?
I saw that document (and it is the same as your first post... 106 pages..meh), all points me to (still) think that applications have to explicitely support cryogenic to take advantage from it, is pretty clear:
    Page 28
In this section we present the way developers should use Cryoge nic’s API in order to
benefit from its capabilities . We illustrate with examples the code that must be added to modify the behaviour of any application and give a clearer idea of the execution flow .
Did you read that document, yes?

  • Is there a List of all Oracle R12 EBS Standard/Seeded Reports?

    Hey,
Does anyone have a list of all Oracle R12_ EBS Seeded Reports in the system?
    - Particularly for Finance and/or Purchasing modules
    - Ideally with additional information and details regarding what each report contains (a general description or all the fields it includes).
I can only assume there should be a document that lists them all out by module, and includes details of each report. I dug through the document library, but was not able to find anything like that.
Even a list of report names per module would be nice?
If there is a perfect query that brings in the exact Active Report Names and associated Application Name / Module Name that would work too... (emphasis on perfect: Comprehensive, correct, and includes names of relevent Application and/or module)
    Thanks,
    -Ayyad

  • [S]Systemd can't start Load Kernel Modules after upgrade to Linux 4.0

After upgrading from linux 3.19.3-3 to 4.0.1-1 I've been having a bit of an issue. At that same time I upgraded readline (6.3.006-1 → 6.3.008-1), linux-firmware (20150206.17657c3-1 → 20150410.ec89525-1), nvidia (349.16-1 → 349.16-2) , wpa_suplican (2.4-1 → 1:2.3-1), and  arpack (3.1.5-1 → 3.2.0-1). There may be some typos there since I'm copying by hand. Normally this wouldn't be much of a problem because I have been, priory to a few weeks ago, really good about back ups and would just roll my OS back 15 minutes. But things like that tend to fly out the window when the semester gets heavy. My last snapshot was on May 22nd, which I could still use, but would rather not. Also, it seems like a good idea to try to actual fix things for a change.
[edit] I should mention that this upgrade was run April 30th.[/edit]
When I finished booting the system after the upgrade, I got an error message during boot “systemd[1]: Failed to start Load Kernel Modules.” When it finished booting I run “dmesg -l err” to confirm that I'm not having a bad day dream or something. I'm also still seeing the errors that I described in this thread. Don't know if the two are related. I also noticed, when I was logging in, that it said that my stystem was still using the old kernel. Indeed, according to “uname -r” I'm still using 3.19.3-3-ARCH.
The closest thing to experience I have with this is when I forget to mount /boot before upgrading linux, so I made sure /boot was mounted and rand “sudo pacman -S linux” to reinstall, but this didn't help. Just to check I ran “ls /lib/modules” and see the directorys “4.0.1-1-ARCH” and “extramodules-4.0-ARCH” as I would expect after a succesful upgrade of the kernel.
Running “systemctl –failed, shows that in addition to systemd-modules-load.service, lm_sensors.service has also failed. I somehow expect lm_sensors depends on systemd-modules-load. I tried “systemctl restart systemd-modules-load”, but was rewarded with a message telling me that it failed. The “journalctl -xe” log has the lines
systemd[1]: system-modules-load[1799]: Failed to look up alias 'sg': Function not implemented
systemd[1]: system-modules-load[1799]: Failed to look up alias 'nfs': Function not implemented
Looking at the Wiki for Systemd under troubleshooting it actually has an example of trying to work through this exact issue. Following that I tried
    journalctl _PID=1799
systemd[1]: system-modules-load[1799]: Failed to look up alias 'sg': Function not implemented
systemd[1]: system-modules-load[1799]: Failed to look up alias 'nfs': Function not implemented
which I already mentioned. At this point that bit of the Wiki stopped being useful.
Looking up on Google Failed to look up alias 'nfs': Function not implemented returned this thread from two years ago. Running “lsmod |grep sg” or $lsmod |grep nfs” returns nothing, but it also returns nothing on this laptop I'm using as well, so I don't imagine that is useful. Also, “# grep nfs /lib/modules/4.0.1-1-ARCH/modules.alias” returns a “Nosuch file or directory” error.
Searching for something on 'sg' turned up https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=165361, which was also not useful.
    As a sort of last resort I tried https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Do … the_kernel
I reboot and boot into my fallback installation, running 3.19.3-3, mount the partition with my main Arch on it, and arch-chroot into it.
I downgraded linux, and nvidia, exited chroot, and rebooted hoping to the Great Bacon that I didn't do anything too damaging. After all, my back ups are more than a week out of date.
This worked. I'm still getting those annyoing (they are only annoying right?) error messages I mentioned earlier. My system seems fine, if somewhat out of date.
Still, the question remains, “why did that happen, and how do I actually fix it?”
    [edit2=solution]
There were two problems. First, my grub.cfg entry was pointing to the wrong UUID. I fixed this by regenerating it. Then I noticed the UUID in the grub menu itself (during the boot prosses) did not match what was in grub.cfg. To fix this I reinstalled grub.
Last edited by nstgc (2015-05-05 12:07:30)

Well, I took snapshots, not back ups but they work well enough for this, and rsynced /boot/ to where it use to be, moved/renamed the subvolume boot, and commented out the appropriate line in fstab. I also deleted that other /boot from before. I unmount /boot, and regenerate my grub.cfg. If my machine still boots, I'll try for an upgrade.
    grub.cfg now looks like
    # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE
    # It is automatically generated by grub-mkconfig using templates

  • Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Linux come with an ndiswrapper kernel module?

    Hello
Does Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Linux come with an ndiswrapper kernel module?
Does Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Linux come with a package for the ndiswrapper kernel module that matches the kernel version?
What wireless driver is compatible with Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Linux?

    Hi,
Oracle Unbreakable Linux does not come with any ndiswrapper kernel module and any package for ndiswrapper module. But it includes many wireless network drivers. You can look at them from kernel package. For example
    rpm -qlp kernel-2.6.18-8.el5.i686.rpm |grep wireless
From the output, you can find which wireless drivers are coming with Oracle Unbreakable Linux kernel.

  • Transaction Code to list all standard function modules available in SAP

Is there any transaction code to list all standard function modules with their
grouping.......like in transaction BAPI all bapis are listed w.r.t. their
    functionalities....

Then Try SE84 -> Program Library -> Function modules. Execute to list all FMs.
By the way may we ask the purpose for it, as my ECC 6.0 system has exactly 3,78,979 FM's.
Otherwise if this is an interview question, press the abuse button ( a small yellow traingle at the right of your message subject line ), and in the coming page enter "Interview question" and press Report Abuse.
Hope i have cleared your query.

  • [Solved] Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module

    Hi all,
I've just made the jump to arch and have a fresh install. I'm having trouble getting the nvidia drivers to work. I am currently using the nouveau drivers without issue.
The method I am using - after much trial - is:
    - uninstall nouveau and mesa lib
    - install nvidia package
    - remove nouveau module entry in mkinitcpio.conf
    - run `mkinitcpio -p linux`
    - edit .conf in xorg.conf.d with minimal required settings. Currently:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "device0"
    Driver "nvidia"
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    EndSection
I have installed the linux-headers package and tried reinstalling nvidia again

The only entry I found in `dmesg | grep nvidia` related to nvidia-drm, and seemed to say it was loaded successfully. I didn't save the exact entry and i've reinstalled nouveau now so that I could post this.
Any help much appriciated. I've been at this for a while. Learning a lot in the process!

Success! Several days of trying various things and I finally give in and make a post to this forum. One more attempt - which was only really so that I could add modprobe info to this post - and it works.
I had at some stage installed the driver xf86-video-nv, and this may have been causing the clash. I un-installed it, and followed the procedure above to reinstall nvidia.
I think the main hang up I'd had is that I had not been rebuilding my kernel image with mkinitcpio after installing nvidia during my previous attempts.
I hope some info in here helps some other stuck archer.
Edit: Thanks graysky. I had found the right nvidia driver using the arch wiki and followed this advice to remove the nouveau hook. Much appriciated.
