?listing title names of photos in an  album

Is there some way of getting a listing of the title names of all of the photos assigned to a particular iPhoto '08 (v7.1.1) album?
Thanks,
Lee

Lee:
There is a 3rd party plugin for iPhoto that will export the metadata in text form of any file(s) selected. This includes the file name. It will let you choose any or all of the metadata so you can have just the title if so desired. It's called Metadata Export for iPhoto
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Click on the file name/title under the thumbnail and it will highlight so you can type in whatever title you'd like.

  • Is it possible to print a list of names of photos from project

I would like to just print a list of just the names of photos in a certain project. Is this possible with aperture?

I can think of two ways to do it. It is not something Aperture was designed to do.
    1. Select the project in the library and set the browser view to list view. You'll be able to see the names of the images on the left. You can use the Grab application to do a screen grab of the pertinent parts of the list. However, if the list is long and needs to be scrolled to see it all, you won't be able to Grab the whole thing at one time.
    or
    2. Select all the images in the project and File->Print Images. In the print dialog select contact sheet. In the Metadata & Page Options section set the Metadata View to "Name Only". You'll be able to print all the names but they will be included along with thumbnail images. You can make the thumbnails as small as possible by increasing the number of rows an columns in the Layout section.

  • No event names in Photos list

For some reason, I can no longer see the event names in the photo list. The photos are all together with no separation. They are separated in the Events list. The View Event Titles is dimmed so I can not use that. Any help?

You have the Photo view manually sorted - use the view menu ==> sort events ==> by date then you will be able to turn on view event titles
When the photos are sorted manually then event titles have no meaning and can not be displayed

  • How to Get Albums in File-Name-Order Photo

When I updated my iPod Touch to V4.0 and iTunes (V9 on Windows XP) re-synced it, I found that my photo albums were now in Picture Date order rather than PC file name order. I tried several things that didn't work.
What worked was using the Photoshop Essentials Organizer to change the picture date on all the photos in an album to the same date and time (this can be done to all selected photos in one operation).
I did the sync in two steps. First I moved the album out of the iTunes photos directory and then synced my iPod which deleted the album. Then I moved it back and re-synced.
Does anyone know of an easier trick? I’ve already submitted a feedback item to Apple that they should make file-name-order an option in iTunes
    Andy…

The trick that I used is to append the URL with the name of the file. So if your url is "http://domain.com/attach", use "http://domain.com/attach/filename.doc". IE and Netscape parse the URL to determine what the filename is, so by placing this text at the end, you essentially let the browsers know what the filename is. :)
I have design a program to get the attach file from an
attachment. But when I click the link to save the
file, the default name of the file is 'attach'
whenever I get different files. Who know what is the
problem, please tell me the truth.
Here are some codes of the program.<< snip >>

iPhoto 9.6 cannot open iPhoto Libraries on CD/DVD. The iPhoto Library needs to be on a writable storage.  Copy the iPhoto library from the disk to a folder in your Pictures folder. And then run the iPhoto Library Upgrader on that copy, see this link:  iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader

  • Show file name as the title for a photo in Photos app

If my memory is correct in iPhoto when you hovered the cursor over a photo it displayed the title assigned to the photo, but if you had not assigned a title it showed the file name. In Photos app the only way I have found to see the file name is in the info panel. Other wise it only shows untitled when you hover over the photo. You can copy/paste in the info pane but thats a pain if you have hundreds of pics with no title. I only named a few in iPhoto as I preferred to see the file name assigned by the camera. Any one know if it's possible to see file name and not untitled?

See this discussion:  Re: Where are photo file names?
Photos does show the filenames only in the Info panel, and if you wrote the filename into the title field as a title, Photos will suppress it. in some cases

  • Change name on photo album

How do I change the name of a photo album

Albums that you sync from your computer will take the name of the folder (or album if using iPhoto/Aperture) that they came from on your computer, and albums that you create directly on the iPad can't have their names changed once you've created them - so will either need to change their name on your computer and re-sync them, or (for those created on the iPad), delete them and re-create them

  • 1 photo, 2 different albums, 2 different names

I have some photos that I want to save in 1 folder with one name (for example; Album "January 2013" photo "B1-dogs sleeping") and then in a different folder with a different name (example; Album "dogs" photo "dogs sleeping"), is this possible? When I try to rename the photo in 1 album it automatically renames it in the other album and I don't want it to do that. Hopefully I explained what I wanted well enough that someone can help me.

If you want the photo with different names in different albums, you have to create a second version of the photo and then use different versions in your two albums. Albums do not actually store the photos, they just reference the version of the photo in the event. If you change the name of a version in one album, it will change the version in the event and all albums update to the new name.
To create a new version of your photo use the command "Duplicate" from the "Photos" menu. That will not actually duplicate the original image file, but just create a new edited version.

Export the photos out of iPhoto via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option to a folder on the Desktop.  Then drag the folder onto the disk icon on the Desktop and burn.   Be sure to select the Kind, qualtiy and size of the file you need.

  • No photo titles AT ALL in Photos app shared albums

Is there some hidden setting to turn on the photo titles?

Until Photos called Titles 'titles', anyone I ever spoke to called the filename the title. My mistake in not understanding that Photos ignores the photo filename entirely and 'titles' all the photos as 'Untitled' in fuzzy light grey text, only visible when hovering over the offending item, and not permanently in a useful way.
The filenames are useless in the get info window. If you deliberately or accidentally scroll the thumbnail browser, the get info panel is entirely independent of the app interface and you have absolutely no idea to which image the get info refers to. It's terrible design.
I just want to see the filename under the photo. It's not much to ask. I can't actually see the point of the app, it's like a crappy, feature limited bad imitation of iPhoto - an Apple app that already does everything Photos does, but much better.

  • IPhoto is not showing photos stored in albums in the last week, and when I add recent photos, they don't show, or show as black.

iPhoto is not showing photos stored in albums in the last week, and when I add recent photos, they don't show, or show as black. What's happening ?  I show an incompatible upgrade available for OSX Maveriks, which I have not yet installed.

What version of iPhoto are you using?  Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Photo Galleries into Albums?

I see how to create different Photo galleries in BC, however is there a way to make Albums out of the different photo Galleries?
Also, can there be a title over or under each event/album?
I want, if possible to make this "point and lclick" simple for the client.
    How I can solve it for me;
I make a photo gallery folder
I upload all photos to that folder (they will be using FTP)
I then go to the photo page
    make a table
enter the Name of the Album on the top Row
I Customize the Photo Gallery to show just 1 picture at 300 X 300.
Insert the Module into the place below the title of the album/event.
When the picture is clicked the slideshow opens.
Is there and easier way? I mean it seems easy for me, but if there is something that would be easier that I am missing for the client...

    Thank you Alex.
Somewhat regarding this process. I have been having an issue with the lightbox feature on the Photo Gallery. Is there any way to see a MAX size when you click a picture and it opens in the lightbox? Can I constrain the slideshow that opens to resize the image? I have a client who has 1000's of pictures, most too big so it overwhelms the screen.
Is there any way to do this besides going through and editing ALL of their phots and then making them edit them all before they upload?

  • How to preserve titles and arrangement of pix in albums

Recently I created an iPhoto book; no problem. Then, without problems, I sent to iDVD: a slide show version of the book and also the photos in the album I'd used to create the book (using the "share" menu to send photos (that creates another slide show of just the photos).
Then I added to the DVD-ROM Content area of the DVD (using the "advanced" menu)
a PDF of the book; no problem.
My problem arose when I wanted to add to the DVD-ROM content area of the DVD a folder containing the book photos (so people could download the individual pictures). I created the folder but when I tried to export the photos (from the album that I had used to make the book) all the titles and arrangement changed. The titles are different from the titles in the album and in the library. The arrangement is alphabetical.
I would like the titles and arrangement of the pictures in that folder (in the DVD-ROM content area) to match the ones in the album.
    Ideas?
    Claire Bettag

    Here's what you can do:
Go back and add a leading number to all the pics:
    001 Picture Name
    002 Picture Name
    003 Picture Name
Then export using the Title as filename
That's the only way you can defeat the Finder's Alphabetical Sorting.
