Little cloud icon in my music library in ios7.

Little cloud icon in my music library after downloading ios7. What am I actually doing when I click on the cloud?

With ios 7 there is a new feature that shows you all the music you purchased with your apple id.  You can disable this by going to settings/music/show all-off.  Also this helps with saving data usage if you do not have unlimited data.

  • How is it possible that i can play music marked with the cloud icon in the music app when i'm not subscribing to itunes match?

When I'm on the same WiFi network as the computer I sync my iPhone to, I can se a lot of songs in my music app marked with the little cloud icon. And when I leave the network, I can see only the songs with this icon that I have played and therefore probably cached.
Where can I read more about this function and get to know it better?
It seems to work like iTunes Match, only limited to 'local' use. I'm not an iTunes Match subscriber, but I have the 'Show all music' setting enabled.
It's a cool function, both it's a bit annoying that i uses up my available storagecapacity. I keep getting warnings that my storage is almost full.
Does the cached music automatically dissapear since i haven't added it while syncing?

    This feature is called...
    iTunes in the Cloud
It uses no storage on your phone or any in your iCloud storage allocation.

If they have 'open' next to them then that implies that they are already on your iPad - if you tap on the 'open' button does that open the app ? If it does then they are on your iPad. You've checked all your homescreens and tried a soft-reset to see if they show after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • After upgrading to iTunes 11, What are these songs now in my library with a little Cloud icon by them?

after I upgraded to iTunes 11, a bunch of songs appeared in my library with a little iCloud icon indicating I could download from iCloud.  I don't have an iCloud account.  Some songs have the explicit label, some don't - these aren't my tunes.  Any ideas?

Thank you.  Hmm....but I didn't recongnize any of the songs.  Maybe purchased by my teenager using my account (which she did for awhile with my permission)?  Which would explain why they weren't on my PC.  At any rate, I've deleted them from my library, in some cases checking the box "delete from iCloud also" - should have asked my question sooner.  Seemed at first like some weird glitch.

  • TS4124 I have the cloud icon next to music heading in iTunes, not individual songs, am I waiting for something???

I have match, I have a cloud on my heading music in iTunes, I have no music on iPhone other than my past purchases and apps. Am I waiting for something to happen in iTunes with this cloud? I don't have clouds next to songs, I can't download anything even though match is on all devices. Please help.

The small cloud icon to the right of your songs means the song is not stored on you devices drive, not that it was uploaded to iCloud.  You can listen to that song, but it's being streamed.  If you tap on the small cloud icon it should download the song onto your devices hard drive.  Once you do that the icon should not reappear again.

  • ITunes library grayed out all the time- in between songs played. Must click on cloud icon and wait between each song played.

Whenever I invoke iTunes (doesn't matter if I'm opening the program or simply undocking it), my library is gray, and the little "cloud icon" next to "Music" has a horizontal lightning bolt in it.
If I click on the cloud icon with the bolt (which doesnt respond consistently, somtimes takes 3 or more clicks) it will change to animated diagonal stripes. When this is finished (takes 10 seconds to 10 minutes), I have access to my library.
Sometimes it lets me get through an album before the process restarts. Sometimes I have to go through this between each song. Generally, I perform the process for the first two songs, and then it will play the rest of the album uninterrupted.
Internet connection is always fine, I have confirmed in several instances.
I have added screen shots below... I couldn't add the "working library" step, because as of writing this, I can't get past step 2. So no music for me this morning.
BELOW: Greyed out library, step 1
BELOW: Animated striped icon, library still greyed out, step 2

Thanks for the reply. Did this just now, and no change.
FYI- I have deauthorized and reauthorized, signed out of my iTunes account, deleted pLists, etc before posting here. None of which affected the problem.

  • I, am now getting annoyed with i-cloud. I had an express lane discussion with your support group earlier this morning after discovering that the cloud icon wasn't next to music in the left hand side bar.

I, am now getting annoyed with i-cloud.
I, have spent considerable time trying to connect my i-pod touch wirelessly with no success untill I saw on the i-tunes store tab that my i-tunes match was not turned on. I clicked to turn it on and I was asked to add this computer which I have already done. I talked to the Apple support group and they talked me through the set up  through add this computer again! But sure enough it worked I had the cloud icon next to music in the left hand side bar and in the store tab i-tune match was turned on and everything seemed to be working.
I, looked again less than half an hour later and i-tunes match was turned off again. I began to turn it on again and now I get asked to pay the i-cloud subscription. How is this resolved?

I can see that this issue has been quite extensive, and frustrating, and I am so sorry for all that has happened societygirl! I would like to help you work this issue out. Please follow & send me a Direct Message, so I can get your account specifics and help finally bring this to a resolution.
    Thank you,

  • ITunes Match, icon next to Music has a lightning bolt on it?

The icon next to Music in the top left (not the icon next to individual icones) has gone from a solid cloud, to a cloud with what seems to be a lightning bolt. If i click it, the icon becomes animated for several minutes, with wavy lines. Not sure what this indicates? both the lightning bolt or the wavy lines.

    Mine is not.
Match had been working perfectly. I decided to delete all my low bitrate matached songs and redownload them. The process was going perfectly and then I had to restart my Macbook. About 500 songs downloaded correctly and are now upgraded 256kbps AACs but every other matched song is greyed out and I cannot download it.
I have tried everything: turning off/on match, option clicking the match on/off button, creating a new itunes library, etc. No luck. I can see all my music and itunes match says all 7500 of my songs "are avilable in the cloud" but almost all of them appear in grey text and I cannot downloaded them.
Also, the cloud icon next to "music" on the sidebar shows animated diagonal lines.
Is iTunes match down? Anyone else having this issue?
Interesting, I can download/stream all 7500+ songs on my iPhone. The problem seems to be confined to itunes on my mac.

  • What is the little cloud doing in iTunes 11?

I've upgarded to the latest iTunes (version 11) and it keeps indicating that something is happening with iCloud... the little cloud icon keeps scrolling its grey bars across like it's doing something:
What is that little cloud icon actually doing? I have absolutely no material synced to iCloud so I can't imagine why it'd be trying to do anything there... especially without asking me first if that’s what I want.
Any help much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello Jerrold Green1
    you said:
Best bet would be to go back to Numbers '09. If you can, locate a backup document from prior to opening and editing in Numbers '13 and reopen it in Numbers '09.
Are you thinking go into Time Machine to before I opened Numbers 3.1?
Or open Numbers '09 and open the Numbers in 3.1.
    Arrrgggh,
I entered time machine to before I installed Mavericks, and before I opened and used Numbers 3.1. Selected the file in Time Machine, it brought in expenses 2014 to the location of the original. Message said there is one there, keep both, replace or something else.
    I said keep both.
Clicked to open, it opened in 3.1. I used Numbers 9 2.3 to try to open the file and it said I needed a newer version of Numbers to open this file.
I appreciate your suggestions and with out wanting to conqure the world at this point I am going to cut bate and continue to use Numbers 3.1 as best I can. I am not an accountant or a number person, I am a blues musician and this file has been helping me for 4 years.
I'll get though the tax dance and evolve into numbers if need be as the year goes on.
Again, thanks for your interest in helping.

  • My music is in the cloud, but it's also on my hard drive.  Why does it all show with the cloud icon?  Anyway to force the iTunes client to recognize that all of the music is already in my iTunes library folder?

Recently moved to a new PC.  Upon installing iTunes, in the Settings dialogue, I've indicated where my iTunes library is stored.  And yet, all of my albums in iTunes are showing up with the "cloud" icon, meaning that the client doesn't realize there is a local copy.  Clicking the "cloud" icon ends up downloading a duplicate copy of the song/album.
Any suggestions for how to fix this...so that my iTunes client knows all of this music is on my hard drive (in addition to being in the cloud)?
    Thanks!

  • How do i get my music library from cloud to my mac

How do i transfer my libary in the cloud to my Mac

Your music is not really stored in iCloud. icloud reads your iTunes account and makes music you have purchased available on your device(s). On your device tap Music>Store (top left)>Purchased (bottom 2nd from right) tap on Music it will give you a list of purchased items. At the top it will let you choose ‘All’ or ‘Not on this iPhone’ tap on the latter and tap on an album and it will display the tunes you have purchased with an icon on the right to download the item from the cloud. It is then on your device.
Coming soon is iTunes Match which will provide the same service for ALL of your iTunes Library at a cost of $24.95 a year. Check it out at: http://www.apple.com/itunes/whats-new/

  • TS4124 is there a fee for downloading music with cloud icons

Due to a drive failure, I had to reconstruct my iTunes library from a back up.  When I did this, I also upgraded to iTunes 11.0.1 (12) and discovered hundreds of tracks with cloud icons, some I had purchased, some I don't remember ever purchasing.  Because ONE album with a cloud was one I'd purchased from iTunes a couple of days prior, I assumed that these were all free-access - that is, I have rights to download.
I started clicking on the hundreds of cloud icons and the downloading began flooding through.
Is there a fee for downloading?  I didn't see any new fees in my account, but those things can take days.  There was not prompt asking "if I wanted to purchase".

You can download all your music purchased in iTunes as many times as you want free or charge
