Little help about Grid Control

Hello,
is it possible to reconfigure EM Grid Control after changing hots's IP and name? Do I need to install it again or there's something like emca -config dbcontrol db in EM Database Console?

Question about Grid Control Agents on a Veritas Cluster (or any cluster)

Hi, I'm seeking advice on how to setup Grid Control agents on a Veritas Cluster.
My cluster is made up of two Sun M4000 servers running Solaris 10 x64 (node1 and node2), and 8 virtual hosts setup to fail between the nodes. Each of these virtual hosts has several mount points from a SAN, and contain Oracle 9 and 10 homes as well as databases. The versions are 9.2.0.8 and 10.2.0.3.
I have a full grid control agent install on each node to mount points that don't fail over to the other nodes. These agents monitor the nodes themselves.
Now for my question, is it better to do full intalls of the grid agent in each virtual host or to use the "emctl deploy agent" from the full installs already on node1 and node2 to the virtual hosts? Or is there some other, better way to do this.
Either method results in 9 grid control agents on a node if all the virtual hosts are on that box. I've experimented with both agent deploys and installs a bit and found that the cpu usage goes though the roof with that many agents on one server. Maybe I don't have them configured correctly, but every now and then they spike cpu usage to 100%, and these servers have 8, dual core processors in them with 32GB of RAM.

Security concern about grid control agent

I am planning for grid control rollout. Our system administrator is concerned about
security of grid control agent. For example, I do not know the Oracle password,
I sudo to Oracle after login as myself.
What are the options do I have ? I have told my system admin that
other companies use "oracle" - the database sysdba/software owner as agent owner.
But my system admin think this is a big security risk since he has to tell me the
oracle password

In more explicit terms, what is the security concern you have?
Specifically, I do not see what you mean by the sentence:
when I install grid control agent as "oracle", I provide "oracle "password in order
to run job on our unix server.By "oracle" are you referring to the Oracle Software owner account, by which the Database and/or EM software was installed?
Please explain how the job is related to installation of management agent. If you are talking about running jobs after installation, when agent is configured and running, where and how exaclty are you required to enter "oracle" password?

I have to follow a grid control project, their company have AD,exchange plugin. I have to make a survey before deploying but i dont know how to ask some necessary questions to collect information, this the first time i have to do this.... I need a help, please help me. thanks

I went through a similar upgrade from 10.2.0.3GC/10.1.0.4 repository to 10.2.0.5GC/11.1.0.7 repository. What you have to make sure is that your configuration remains certified. So, given that 10.1.0.4 repository is certified against newer versions of GC, you can upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.5 for GC first. Then upgrade your repository to the latest version, you can go with 10.2.0.4 or 10.2.0.5 or even 11.1.0.7.

Question about Grid Control Installation

I have two instances of 12i VISION apps with rdbms database 11i running on two different linux systems. I wanted to install 11g grid control to get familiar with the utility.
Do I need to do the install on one of these linux machines or can I install it on a windows client?

You can have a primary database, then you can have a standby database and then you can have grid control (on a separate server) to monitor both your primary and standby.

You can use OEM grid to create and manage your dataguard environment, but it does not provide this facility at its own. OEM grid is an administration/management and monitoring toll for Oracle environment.

A little help about multiple monitors...

I’ll try to explain what I need help on in the simplest way possible.
I connected my macbook pro to another LCD monitor I have at home. That way when I work on sites I can have one thing on my monitor and another thing on my Mac. My question is...
I see that on WINDOWS the whole program (Dreamweaver or Photoshop, illustrator blah blah blah) is in one window. Which means I can drag it on one monitor or back to the other. How do I make those programs get on one window like WINDOWS(OS). I can drag my browsers, iTunes, steam and other applications between each monitor but I cannot do it with the adobe products.
Any help?

Hi sppanch007. Welcome to the Adobe user-to-user forums!
You can certainly drag components of the Dreamweaver application, such as panels (and panel groups) and document windows and drag them between your monitors.
In doing this, you could create a custom workspace that has all the panels and such in the desired locations and then save it by going to Window > Workspace Layout > New Workspace.
There is a "Dual Screen" layout you could try to give you a starting point.

i need desperately your help. I'm learning Jsf.
I'm trying to understand datatable's use.
I've a form with three value, Name, Lastname, City.
The user inserts a number(5 for example) in a page and i want my
application shows in another page a datatable with 5 rows and
Name,Lastname,City values,to allows to user to compile 5 forms in the
same page.
How can i do it with datatable?

As curious as I always am, I was able to discover my XE database from the GC 10.1.0.4 last month. I did this because I asked myself the same question. When there is time, I normally will try everything that says "Not supported" or "Not compartible" to prove it right or wrong. So give it a go, but don't post errors from it here :-). I have not tried it for GC 10.2.0.2, but it worked on 10.1.0.4 (hopefully 10.1.0.3).
Remember, XE has all the features of EE, but a cutdown version. It has an Oracle Service and a Listener on a port, so the agent will pick them up. I have tried all possible things and tools (Forms, Reports, Designer Repository, Jdeveloper, SQL Developer, ODBC, JDBC etc) on XE to break it, but it works like EE. The only difference is when you hit the max allowed 4GB (excluding 1GB system) and I proved the limit right by kicking of a data load into a table using a cursor until it hit the maximum 4GB limit error.

ALV Editable Grid Control F4 help problem

HI Experts,
am facing some funny and critical problem in ALV Editable GRID,that is i used OOPS concept for ALV GRID Control output,
in fieldcatalog i given for fields as
wafieldcatlog-f4availabl = 'X'.
wafieldcatlog-ref_table = 'table'.
wafieldcatlog-ref_field = 'field'.
and for seven fields i given like this .
but in that editable if i use F4 help for the field and get that data and later save means that data is not considering and giving error message.
So can any one please help if u confused pls reply fo any clarifications, pls help me out in this situation.
