Little help finding a Sound setting?

Hi there,
Can anyone tell me where I turn off that really LOUD sound my MacPro makes when i turn it on? It sounds like a triumphant "TA-DAH!!!" horn blast and it kills me first thing in the morning.
If i go to Sys. Prefs and click on Sound, I have the following settings:
1. On the "Sound Effects" tab I have selected many different Alert sounds but this wake-up call never changes.
2. I play alerts and sound fx through "selected output device" which is chosen on the "output" tab.
3. All 3 checkboxes are selected below that. (maybe it's the one that says play alerts. i'll try that next)
4. And on the Output tab I've chosen "line out" which is my desktop/standalone speaker set up. With those turned off, the bugle blow still happens when i turn on my computer.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Pedro

Hi sheik
I did the same settings and I can change the volume of the startup sound with the control „Gesamtlautstärke“ (don't know, what it's called in English) – it's the control on the bottom of the „Sound Effects“ tab

  • (HELP PLEASE) System Sound & Set of External Speakers

    Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion All-in-One and in the past we've had no problem with neither the system sound or a set of speakers we've hooked up to it. Now suddenly I can only hear audio is I turn it up to 95 or above to hear it at any volume worth listening too, but turning it up that high used to almost blow you out.
Some changes or differences I "think" I notice are when you click on the volume icon in the sys tray, there is only one "mixer" but if you click on that it shows two things, which I don't think it has described them like this before, but it shows like the picture below.
I don't recall ever seeing the "Applications - System Sounds" before. But we can't get the extra speaker set to work and I remember turning the volume up to 6 if I wanted to hear it without disturbing anyone else in the house.
Anyone have any suggestions? The only thing that I know that was changed lately was we switched to AT&T internet but I believe the external speakers worked fine after the installtion. Any help would be appreciated!!

  • A little help for HDMI sound output.

I have an HP Pavilion HPE Series.  Pavilion H8-1214 PC
I bought an HDMI cord several months back, to hook up my TV as a second monitor (like for watching movies) and worked fine for some time up until last night when when I tried to update my drivers (like graphics) since it seemed like on certain sites or games it was slow or unresponsive (like facebook games).  Now I can't get the audio to work for my TV (the HDMI output) as you can see in the screen shot I took.
    http://puu.sh/9SZOT/ab1c31984d.png
I have tried returning to an older restore point - that helped temporarily until I turned my computer on today and realized I still had that problem.  I have tried uninstalling that particular driver and reinstalling it - doesn't help, tried disabling and re-enabling - doesn't help.
The only way it seems to work is when I turn the TV on first and then restart my PC, but that is kind of a hassle since when I want to watch a show or movie I have to restart instead of just turning it on and setting TV as "default device" in "Playback Devices" like I did before.
Is there a way to fix this?  Please help.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Install the HP posted AMD graphics driver for your PC.   It's not uncommon for HP to use a propriety graphics driver.

    EvrikDruvo,
You will want to download the latest driver for the Audigy MP3+ or Gamer (they are the same driver). Go to our driver/downloads section and get the web update drivers. The automatic driver installer may also be able to help you.

  • Can't get past "Find My iPod" set-up screen, please help :(

Hi, so I just bought an iPod Touch, to replace my old iPod Nano. I downloaded the latest iTunes, plugged in my iPod, clicked on the iPod's icon in the bar on the left, did the register thing... then it came up with a completely unformatted block of text which looks like this:
    "Free Find My iPhone
    Free Find My iPad
    Free Find My iPod touch
Set up Find My iPhone for free so you can locate your device if you lose it, remotely lock the screen, or wipe its data. Set up Find My iPod touch
Find My iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) enables you to locate your iPad with Wi-Fi or iPod touch only when it is on and connected to a registered Wi-Fi network. Find My iPhone is not available in all countries."
This was in the iTunes window. There were hyperlinks (or whatever the in-application equivalent is) on "Learn More", "Not Now", and "Set up Find My iPhone
    Set up Find My iPad
Set up Find My iPod touch"
When I click on any of the links, nothing happens I can't get past this screen to sync my iPod. Please help!
    When I right-clicked on the "Not Now" link and then clicked "copy link", this is what it copies: javascript:gotoNextStep();
Don't know if that helps at all.
I go through a lot of firewalls that aren't under my control (I use a high school's internet to cut a long story short) if that is relevant.

Garygargar is spot on.  Just unplugged my network cable and relaunched Itunes.  Got past that FindMe screen, plugged the cable back in, wait 10 seconds,  and on my way.
I love it when the first google search result is the actual fix for something!

I am having the following problems.
. I can only get output from 2 speakers front left and front right.2. I cannot get my microphone to work at all. Its plugin to the proper port. It worked with the old sound card. It works on other pc's I have at my residence. So its not the microphone. I checked all the connections and they are correct. I have been to the knowledge base with no luck. I have been through the forums searching and the majority of the forum responses are users helping users with very little input from Creative labs. (disappointed)I have installed/un-installed/re-installed without any luck, the software that came on the cd. I have also retrieved the last software downloads from your web site without any luck.So either I am missing something here, or I got a defecti've sound card.

I assume its an analog connection Creative Insprire P5800 as I don't have anything like a EAX control module that goes in between. Also I have no sound at all til I go to the speaker setting control panel andde-select digital output only.
I have 3 wire connection Green Line out (front) Black line out 2 (rear) and Orange line out 3 (center subwoofer) These connect from the back of the sound card directly into the subwoofer. Green (front) black (rear) orange (center subwoofer)
My old sound card RealTek`AC97 worked fine and I had sound in all my speakers. Yes I have removed the old card and un-installed the old drivers for it. Also the mircophone worked with the old sound card so I know thats not an issue. > Sorry for any inconvenience caused. > We'll need this information so that we can provide you with the correct remedy.

Support have to go over some things first to make sure you've tried them. If it hasn't helped, just mail them back and let them know. It sounds like like you have the settings correct (CMSS, 5. in speaker selection), so there must be something wrong in the installation or configuration of the software.
The CleanBoot troubleshooting page on Microsoft's Kbase might help, although, it sounds like you covered a clean install aswell so that would normally help.
These forums are for user-to-user interaction, rather than Support from Creative. We monitor these forums and reply to some posts, but we can't reply to every topic and offer everyone support (that's what the phone and e-mail support are for).

  • Where can i find the sound driver for my Toshiba Satellite U505-S2970 ?

Where can i find the sound driver for my Toshiba Satellite U505-S2970 ?
    Please help me.
    Thanks

If "Realtek High Definition Audio" is listed under the "Sound, video and game controllers" in the Device Manager then that is your sound driver. Some people have had luck with uninstalling the Realtek HD audio driver from their computer via the Device Manager (be sure to check the "Delete driver software for this "), and then reinstalling it. You can get the latest version of the Realtek HD audio driver from the Realtek download site.
Many of us who have the Realtek HD sound driver have had to make several tweaks to improve the sound. Opening the Realtek HD Manager and enabling Loudness Equalization and setting the equalizer to Powerful helps with some of the low audio issues some of us have experienced with the Realtek HD sound drivers.

Need a little help.... not major....but am unsure I have the 2.4 GHz Wireless-G Broadband Router Model WRT54G version 2 I had bought some time ago (over year and a half) and never really had it hooked up since I have been moving from place to place. Now that I'm retired and staying in one place I'm ready to set up. I find myself having "several" power adaptors and not sure which is the correct one. Can anyone tell me if all the broadband routers had the Linksys name and/or logo on them? None of the adapters I have do. I want to use a proper adapter so as not to damage....are there any specs that would be helpful so that one of these adapters would work? Also I'm running WindowsXP Sorry to bother you folks with a dumb question as I'm sure there are others with far more important questions and concerns. Although I can't tell other than the end going into the unit fits, I do have one Class 2 Transformer which might be the one it's about 1 1/2 inches thick, about 2 inches tall with following written information: Model 49-12-1000D CUI Inc Input AC 120V 60Hz 20W Output DC12V 1000mA Appreciate any help you can give.....I believe my unit is an older one based on version so there may have been a "fatter" adapter then than now.

The power adapter output should be 12V, 0.5A(so 6W power rating)

There is no explanation for what either of these are. These may be pretty basic things in overclocking Intel. I should also mention that I am new to Intel processors and their mobo's. I have always used AMD cpu's and overclocking seemed a bit more straight forward. This is also the first MSI motherboard I have owned so I am also new to these. I have been a great fan of MSI GPU's for years and finally had the chance to buy a motherboard and while it has been a great experience thus far I seem to be slighty behind the learning curve here. I do appreciate all the help I am able to get. I have read the guides that I have seen others pointed towards and have not really found the information I am looking for there.

Nichrome, thank you for the heads up concerning placing my rig info into my signature, I will do that immediately. Thanks for trying to help. I really do appreciate it. I am very familiar with overclocking on the AMD platform. I have previously owned and abused the PhenomII 965BE, 1055T FX-8320 and FX-8350. I guess switching from AMD to Intel and being confronted by so many new terms and settings in the BIOS I was kind of lost. I wasn't really too concerned with the PLL per say other than just desiring to know as much about my new system and motherboard as possible. I have always been a firm believer that to get the most out of your equipment you need to know it intimately, I guess I will get there with a bit of time and perseverance! I was really mainly trying to figure out where the LLC settings would be hidden or what they would be known as with an Intel based system, this setting is usually quite important when trying to stabilize higher overclocks. I am currently running and tinkering with an OC speed of 4.7-4.8GHz @ 1.275v with temps staying ~55C. I was hoping to push a little further and was trying to give myself the best possible advantage in doing so. Again, thanks for the help and information!!!

  • Need help with adding sound

I want to add a short soundclip that plays when my nav bar
loads. I edited down a song in Garageband to 3 seconds, then I
exported it to iTunes. I assume I have to convert it to mp3 to put
it into my Flash file, so my first question is this... how many
kbps should I save the mp3 at? Normally I have mp3's in iTunes that
are 128 or 192, but would this make my swf filesize too big? Can
    anyone suggest a setting?
Then, once I convert my mp3 in iTunes, how would I bring it
into my flash file and trigger it so it plays when the nav bar
    loads? Thanks!

I don't know much about actionscript so please bear with me.
When you say create the sound object, what exactly does that mean?
Where do I put that code? I'd like the sound to trigger after the
preloader loads everything and while the animation plays (logo
flies in, nav bar swoops in from the right, pretty basic). Does
this mean I should put the trigger on frame 3 since the preloader
is taking up the first 2 frames? And does the sound object code go
somewhere different or do I add it above the trigger code on frame
    3?
Also, the way I'm setting up my Flash animation is that I'm
going to put the same swf on the top of every one of my html
tables, so every time the user clicks a button in the nav, the nav
bar animation will reload and show the proper page (I'm not doing
my whole site in Flash, just the nav and bringing into
Dreamweaver). It might get a little annoying if the sound plays
each time the user clicks a button, so is there any way to set it
up with Actionscript that the sound only plays when the user
initially goes to the index page? Or will I have to make a separate
swf without the sound and put that on the top of all the other
    pages beside the homepage?
With the mp3, I encoded it at 128 and it sounds really good,
I was just wondering if it's overkill just for a 3 second byte.
Does anyone else have any experience with this? I'm really not sure
of what is an appropriate file size, is there a number where I
shouldn't go over? It's a nav bar animation so I'd like it to load
pretty fast. Right now the file is around 85 KB without the sound,
I have no idea whether this is high or low...
    Thanks for your help!
