Little Red Number on Ical Icon on dock

I have a little red circle at the upper right hand corner of my Ical Icon on the dock. It is the same as the number that appears when I have 4 emails waiting for me in Mail. I don't publish my calendar, nor do I have any alarms, nor do I have any events of merit. I just use it as a desk calendar. How do I get rid of the Four in the circle? Looked everywhere for this answer.

I just figured out how to get rid of the numbers. Click Notifications on the bottom left part of the Ical screen and some blank invitations will show up. Click one and a box shows up that gives you the option of deleting the Notification/Invitation. I did that for the 4 little boxes and the number is gone.

  • Little red number on messaging app

My brand new iPhone 6 doesn't show the little red number on the messaging app icon when I have an unread message? I've gone through every single notifications setting several times and still nothing I'm not sure if this is important, but my previous phone, the iPhone 5, didn't do it either, and I transferred everything over to my new phone, including settings, I thought this may have something to do with it?
    If nobody knows, thanks anyway

  • When I mouseover project there is a little red number displayed what does this signify?

When I mouseover a project in Aperture a little red number is displayed in the bottom left corner of the key photo.  It is the same number for every project in my library.  What does this signify?

Thank you.  First time positing here, sorry forgot the details.
    Aperture 3.4.5
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
I had just installed Aperture a few hours earlier.  I was in viewer.  I was in Library Tab.  Then selected Projects. Of course this morning it is gone, should have gotten the screen shot earlier.  But every project when I would mouse over it, it has the little 'i" in a circle in the bottom right hand.  Before it also had a little red oval with the number "201" in it in the bottom left hand corner.  Wish I had gotten the screen shot.
It is gone now, so any solution would only satisfy my curiosity.  Thanks for reading and posting.  I will do better with my next question  :-)

You don't have push enabled.   Go into your settings and enable it, however many people will want to advise you that doing so will reduce your battery life.

  • ICal Icon on Dock

My iCal Icon on the Dock previously projected the Jul 17. It now has no month in the red, and the number 1. I wish it would show the defaulted icon. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
If so, can you please reply the answer to [email protected] if it isn't any trouble?
    Thank You So Much.

    blage,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The first thing to try is remove the iCal icon from the Dock, and then replace it with iCal application from your application folder. Log out/in or restart.
If that is not successful, try changing/resetting your System Preferences...>International>Formats>(Region:) (Dates) (Times) Customize... to your specifications. Log out/in or restart.

  • Red one on ical icon on iPad iOS 4.2

What is that little red 1 on the iCal icon in the doc when I open iCal...and how do I make it go away?
When I go into iCal, there is no invite in the lower left corner. How do I reset this or make it go away? Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • No iCal icon in dock

I am unable to keep the iCal icon in the dock. I have several Powerbook Pros, but only one acts up.
An alias always stays in the "Places" sidebar, but an iCal alias will not stay in the dock, once I close the iCal application.
    Help, please

All running applications will show in the dock. Otherwise, only the ones that have been put there.
Try opening your applications folder and finding the ical application itself. Drag this to the dock and it should insert an alias to ical that will stay.
You can also start running ical. This will create a dock reference to the application. If you then click and hold on the dock icon for ical, a popup menu will come up with the option to "keep in dock".
Note that removing apps from the dock is as simple as dragging the icons off the dock and releasing, and watching them go poof. This has happened to me accidentally a few times. Simply add them back by one of the methods above.
    Cheers.

  • Ical icon in dock shows a red circle with the number 1 in it

There is no event for today and I can't make it go away. I can't quit ical either, I can only force quit it. Any ideas?

  • Strange iCal icon in dock.

After a recent update to OS 10.5.8, my iCal application has worked fine, but the icon in the dock looks super strange. I'm not sure how to post a photo of it, but to describe it, the "Jan" and the "10" (of today's date, obviously) are there, but there is no background. The text is just floating in space.

I've tried to restart the application itself, to no avail. Removing and reinserting it on the dock doesn't seem to make a difference either. Any ideas on what this is or how to get the regular icon back?

Hi, Can I use the .plist file removal suggestion for other problems too? Often when I try to edit an event the only way I am able to do so, is by closing and re-opening iCal.
Here's why I think there's a bigger problem lurking in the background. I accidently attached the entire iCal program to an email when learning how to use the Mac. (Don't laugh too hard). And then I threw that email with the program attachment in the trash and deleted it. What can I say, except I panicked, as a brand new user of Mac (with 30 years of PC use before that to traumatize me.)
Honestly, I'm surprised I'm not having more problems with iCal...., yet <?>
On a similar note, can I use this suggestion for any application that's acting up? I read about tossing the plist file in the trash with problematic apps sometime ago, (rebooting to create a pristine fresh file), from a "how to use your Mac" book. But I've been afraid to try it, especially since it said there were 3 .plist files and it wasn't specific about which one to toss.
    Thanks much for your assistance.

  • How can I delete the little red number? no history...

I deleted the history (it says no history items) , i deleted chats (it says no new chat messages) but i have that small red 1 notification on my skype icon...how can i deleted it or find the source of the notification?
    Thanks

Thanks cupidlucid, I had the same problem today on my iPad mini and your tip solved it.
Skype suddently showed a high number (56) in the red cicle but I had no new calls or messages.
The suggestion of closing the app (double-clicking home button and "throwing" out the app) and then re-opening Skype fixed the error on my end.
    Hope this helps future users.

  • Blue number 2 on icon in dock

I just looked down at my dock and noticed that over the Yahoo Messenger smiley face is a blue box with the number two in it. The box has a white border around it.
The coloring suggests that its an OSX element and not a Messenger element and its not the # that tells me how many messages I have in messenger.
Any ideas? I've never seen this before.
    THanks!

oh nevermind. I figured it out- Turns out yahoo now lists the number of yahoo emails you have on that box. Sorry.

  • What does the little red number in the iBooks Library mean?

The new version of iBooks on the iPad displays a number within a red circle in the upper left corner of the Library page. What does it mean? If I tap it, the iTunes store opens.
This question is for iOS 7 on the iPad.
    Thanks,
    Van

Thanks Japib. How can I confirm whether its an event reminder or someone is trying to share a calendar with me. Can I get rid of the number somehow?

  • No more red number for messages

It's strange how I lost that little red number in the Apple Mail icon in the dock. It happened quite awhile ago, I went through my preferences and even reinstalled but it is no where to be seen. Has anyone else had this happen? I get a tone when a new email is received but the red number is missing.

Problem solved with a post from member babowa on another thread.
Go to System Preferences and click on Notifications. Click on Mail in the left hand column and make sure "Badge app icon" is checked.

  • New podcasts not 'red numbered' on app icon anymore.

    Hi all,
Very tedious question but my new podcasts (prior to new update) would be numbered in red on the top of the podcast app icon on the home screen to see how many I have to listen to.
Since the update they are not doing this.
Any help about how I can get it back?
    Thanks,
    James.

There are a couple of other threads on this. In the latest update, it seems that Apple have decided the red number on the  icon will show the number of new podcasts downloaded since you last accessed the app. Once you open the app, this resets to zero.....
I would like the original number back, but you can still see the number of podcasts if you have a playlist or station with "all unplayed"....

  • Ical date in dock no longer updating

Ever since aug 1st the ical icon in dock isn't showing the current date. Its nothing major but it was the cool part about the new version in leopard. how can I fix this? I've looked for something in preferences but I don't see anything. What can I do?

It's a long shot, but have you tried removing the iCal icon from the Dock and then re-creating it by dragging the iCal application from your Applications folder back onto the Dock?
