  • Help, I lost my @springboard in the dock to the right next to the trash.

I know this sounds silly but I seemed to have moved that little spring with an @ on it on accident and it just disappeared in a puff of pixel smoke?!....funny how they do that uhh. And now I can't find it anywhere on my Mac? Do I have to reinstall X Tiger? Please help I miss that little guy....heh heh. Thank You

As I explained above, it is just the icon that the Dock uses to indicate that you have an URL address in the Dock. Grab the "favicon" at the front of the address of any page you have open in your browser and drag it to the Dock. If you want the one that takes you directly to the Apple home page, click here:
    http://www.apple.com/
Then click and hold on wee little icon and drag to the Dock. You'll have the spring icon, and clicking on it takes you to the page.
You can have pritnear anything you want in your Dock, and remove almost anything except the Finder, the Trash, and an application that is running. If you want to remove something, just drag it off. If you want to add something just drag it on.

Screen orientation lock.  Double click the home button to bring up the recent app bar.  Then finger swipe left-to-right to bring up the iPod controls.  The icon on the far left (circle with lock in it) is the orientation lock button - press it, and the lock will go away.

One from the dock and the one on the desktop.

the desktop item will not delete or "move to trash"
In Finder, select the item. Choose File > Get Info (or do ⌘I). Look under General > Kind. Does it read "Alias" or does it read "Application (Intel)"?
If the latter, then it is likely that you're not allowed to delete because it's actually open. Quit Safari. Check if there is an item called Safari in your </Applications> folder. (In Finder, you can get directly to the Applications folder using ⇧⌘A -- that's Shift-Command-A.) Check if it's an application. If it is, then you have an unneeded copy of Safari. You can delete the one on your Desktop. If there isn't, them move the one on the Desktop to the Applications folder -- that's where it belongs.

  • What's this status icon mean next to the battery???

ok, so a new icom right next to the battery just showed up on my phone, and i have no idea what it is.
that's pretty much what it looks like, kinda like a phone hung up on it's base, and 2 rows of dots underneith. It's alot smaller obviously and directly to the left of the battery icon in the top right corner.
I've read through all 125 pages of the user manual and it's not mentioned anywhere, i also went through bout 9 pages of this discussion as well.
someone PLEASE tell me what the **** it is.

    what's tty?
btw, ure awesome, make someone give you a gold star or something today at work lol, that's been driving me crazy for 2 days.

  • Im having a problem with my mic on my ipod 5th gen it works but it douse not pick up any sound unless i  talk right next to the mic. how can i fix this

im having a problem with my mic on my ipod 5th gen it works but it douse not pick up any sound  unless I  talk right next to the mic but it sounds low  . how can i fix this

    - Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back by the camera lens(if has back camera). For the 16 GB one without the back camera the mic hole is on the top edge near the center.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    Hi,
If you have not already I would change the Slide size to something that has a 4:3 Ratio.
The Buddy maybe trying to scroll left and right to see the whole slide although this shoud be controlled at you end.
I would open the Connection Doctor during a Chat  (iChat's Video menu).
Check that both Bit Rates are relatively stable (there is always some variance.)
Anything over 5% particularly if over 500kbps is likely to be causing problems.
You could try limiting the Bandwidth (iChat Menu > Preferences > Video section) to 500kbps at both ends
It may pay to drop to 200kbps as a test.  (you may lose the Side by Side presentation at this speed).

  • What do the icons indicate next to the pages in the sidebar?

Specifically, what does the icon of the silhouette of a person mean? I created a website over a year ago and went back today to update for the first time in forever. When I duplicated a few pages somehow the icons, instead of being little blank, red squares, had a silhouette of a person's head/shoulders.
Then, when I tried to publish it to a folder on my hard drive, it said that it was successful, but my new pages aren't in the folder. I clicked "replace everything" but my new stuff won't show up.
    Any thoughts?

They indicate which style of page template it is. When you create a new page in iWeb, you have a choice of eight page templates within each theme.
Specifically, what does the icon of the silhouette of a person mean?
It means the page is an "About Me" template.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the previous page in a new tab that is right next to the current tab?

Let's say I'm currently on page X, and the previous page I came from was page Y. Is there a keyboard shortcut to open page Y in a new tab right next to the tab with page X?
Currently my only solution is to hold down cmd (for mac) and click the back arrow button, but again, I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut. I know CTRL + T opens up the same page in a tab right next to the current one, but I have to wait for it to load then press backspace to go back one page.

    Hello marsfoxbeta, command + shift + T

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You are in the iPad forum.
Open your Applications folder - find Safari in the applications, and double click on the icon in there. You may have a corrupt alias in the dock at the bottom.

First thing I would do is look in the trash and if it isn't there look in the System Preferences and I am sure it will be in there.
