Little things annoy me

b Points
I don't like is this concept of "points". I really don't like the competitive energy of those points. I've been to non-business forums where people award each other "karma." It's stupid and can be petty when someone has more karma than others.
I have no idea who gives points to others, but I don't like them.
I wouldn't mind a record of when joined or how many posts, but I think that belongs in a profile, not next to the responses.
b Answering posts
Who marks a message as answered? As mentioned before, the OP could state the post is answered, but others could find a problem.
Will there be a way for the Forum Moderator to amend an answered post as "With Note"?
b Sorting the messages
Will there be a way to sort according to the OP? If not, it seems a waste of a column.
I'm sure I will have other issues that I'll add later.

@PjonesCET I totally agree with your assessment of the "answered" switch. It's the end user whom decides which post or the first post that answered his/her question FOR THEM.
That's the entire point so new users whom possibly have never been to the forum prior to having a problem; can tell whom/which posters generally tend to be the most helpful to end users.
It only seems to be the long time users here whom are up in arms about this entire affair. I'm not surprised. I am surprised at some of these people being so Luddite in their views ! It just seems that people are being very petty.
For the record I like everything about the new forums; I like the fact that a post can be marked answered by the individual it matters the most to; and the fact that frequent posters will be held accountable (in a small way) for the quality of the answers given. OF course it won't abolish the entire threads taken over by the regs joshing back and forth with each other, but every little bit helps.
Is it perfect ? Probably not. Will it be ? Of course not. Is it an improvement ? Absolutely ! Anything is an improvement over the early 90's technology and design the old forum had.
I hope Adobe is aware that the silent majority is most likely behind the change. It's just the vocal minority here spouting off.
Apologies if I offended anyone -- But that's the way I see it, and I've been on these forums for quite some time (maybe not always an active poster, but always lurking (gawd I hate that word).

    Hello All,
Sorry for putting a variety of topics into one message but they are too small to have their own threads.
    1) Where is the keyboard batteries status report hiding?
    2) I can change the language to Hungarian, but I can't find the layout of the Hungarian keyboard.
    Where is it hiding?
    3) I paired a keyboard with SnowLeopard and another with my old machine running Leopard.
Later I wanted exchanging them, but only Leopard accepted the other keyboard.
Any way to ask Snow to accept keyboards already paired to some other system?
    4) Finder reports in three long columns when a lot more columns are available.
Also, if I pull-out an item a few millimetres, the icon does not spring back into its place.
How could I set it up to do the right things?
    Thanks,

    In Bluetooth preferences
I can't find it there (perhaps the diNovo keyboard is something special)
    4) Finder reports in three long columns when a lot more columns are available.
I don't understand the question. In Column mode, just make the window wider to see more columns. > In list mode, select View > Show View Options and check the new columns you want.

I don't really understand this question either. When viewing as icons, they will stay where you put > > them unless you have auto-arrange or snap to grid turned on.
Thanks, I've found finder > show view options > snap to grid.
Regarding columns, I was not precise enough: I was thinking in icon mode.
I don't know how to ask Finder to show more than 3 columns of icons, to fill the
available space. 3 columns means a lot of scrolling, though all applications would fit on a page.

Make sure and remove it from the other machine. Then turn it off and back on to get into
"discovery" mode. Nothing bluetooth works properly the first time.
I'll try this tomorrow and come back report the result.
    Thank you,

  • Little things missing in Z3

Hi, just bought Xperia Z3, updated to Lollipop 5.0.2, and it's awesome.
However moving from LG phones, I feel the Xperia is missing few "little things":
    1. No option of "vibrate when call is answered"
This one is small but a very useful thisng, you don't have to hold the phone at your ear, when waiting for the other person to answer.
    2. No multi-clipboard!
There should be option to pase at least last 5 copied texts. This is very usefull for example when managing emails.
    3. Low volume of speakers!
OK, I know, that the phone is waterproof, but c'mon guys...  have to have all volumes turned to max, to hear ringtone, youtube video sounds...
Is there any way to fix above?
    Best regards, Jacek
BTW - My back panel glass cracked in half with no reason, while the phone was in my pocket... Is Sony using sugar-glass for phones? So delicate...

    @JacekWarchol
Contact your local Xperia Care regarding your suggestions and the back cover
    http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/
The back cover nor the front glass will crack unless the phone was dropped, hit, or there were too much pressure on the phone, perhaps you have dropped the phone before and this created micro cracks and the only thing needed was more pressure to expand the cracks.

  • The little things #2

Basically I´m thrilled with this update, which I haven´t got yet.
Among others the elastic audio features -Yes, the term "elastic" is used in promo material-And from the video I´ve seen, it seems much more straigtforward than Pro Tools.
    But the little things:
#1 The graphics department. Are you ever struggling to get a volume curve right? Zoom in, zoom in.
PT is much more accurate here. In other words, Logic can be very clumsy.
Not to mention the famous double spl´s and the "suddenly" diminished mixer window.
#2 Wouldn´t it be nice to open sample editor in place, so it corresponds to the position in arrange?
(#3 No, I know!: Selecting i.e 8 drum tracks to make a common fade out, No! (You can use the inspector, numerically))
#4 Does the new package include a decent de-esser?
#5 Got the Waves GTR3. Was that a waste of money, compared to the Amp Designer?
(well not exactly a little thing)
And more of course. Curious to hear your opinions.

ok 2 things why do you get so little data on the 45 dollar plan when most apps take so much to run. They should give at least 2 gb of data for that one then they would get more happy customers to sign up.
It is up to the customer to choose the plan with the amount of data for their needs. If you want 2 GB of data, choose a plan which has 2 GB of data. Don't choose a plan lower in price without enough data for your needs. There are plenty of people for which 1 GB of data is plenty for a month of service.
You simply seem to be unhappy with Verizon's prices. Verizon will lower their prices if and when pressure from the market forces them to do so. Unfortunately for you, that will probably mean Verizon will STILL have a 1 GB plan AND a 2 GB plan with the 1 GB plan being lower in price than the 2 GB plan. I am sure you will then complain Verizon has "so little data on the $35 plan when most apps take so much to run" when the $45 plan could possibly have 2 GB of data just like you wanted.

  • Two little things driving me crazy...

It's the little things that get you...
I just hooked up an Airport Extreme for my laptop, replacing an older Airport which had issues. It's hooked to a DSL modem.
Mostly this is for the better, but two things are worse:
    1) It doesn't automatically reconnect to my network when I reopen the lid any more. I have to choose my network each time.
    2) For some reason, now I have a counter or timer in the menu bar, showing how long I've been connected to the Internet. Something I do NOT need to know every second as I work.
Of course, the way to solve 2 would be to remove the Airport signal strength doohickey from the menu bar, and with it the timer, except that I need it there since I have to reconnect every time I open the lid!
Anyone know how to 1) make it automatically reconnect every time it's opened, like it used to and 2) make the dang counter go away? Thanks in advance.

    Michael,
    1) Open System Preferences>Network>Airport and at "By default, join:" select "Preferred Networks" instead of "Automatic" - then select the name of your network and then click on "Apply Now" button at bottom of panel.
    2) Open the Airport icon at the top of your screen, select the name of your network and de-select "Show Time Connected"

  • It's the little things that drive me crazy...

As I continue making the slow transition from Avid to FCP, little things that should be no-brainers continually trip me up. What can I do to keep my border intact and not lose it when I crop?
Secondly, why is it when I change the speed of a clip on the timeline does it stretch the clip out and push everything down (and vice-a-versa too)? I simply want to - in Avid terms - time warp it within the span of the timeline's clip.

    Many have made the journey.
You have to leave your baggage at the door, FCP is a very different beast that will confound you to start with.
But you may learn to love many features and wonder why it is so hard on an Avid.
    In any case,
the answer you are looking for lies in the order or computation in FCP.
    Motion follows Filter.
So you need to work around this little order issue.
    Crop the image or footage.
Then nest (under the Sequence menu),
Right click the nested clip in your timeline, select load in Viewer,
    add your border.
Welcome to your first new way of thinking in FCP.
You'll find many more times you will wonder how people don't scream 10 times a day on FCP.
Then a years time you might use an Avid and ask "why can't I just import a 2000 pixel image and zoom with out it looking rubbish?"

    Just a quick question,
What are some of the features of the iPod Touch that are not 100% obvious?
    Example...
Yesterday I found out that you could pull up the music controls anywhere(even locked) by pressing the "home" button twice.
After finding the above by accident, I was thinking about if their was any other little hidden things to find.

  • Little things about your ibook.

I am off to college next year. so i am saving up for a laptop, right now it is a toss up between the highest config of ibook (14")and powerbook (17"). now i can afford the powerbook but it would mean getting a part tiem job during the year to save up the £1700 (student discount), i wouldnt mind getting a job its just that my grades might suffer... on the other hand i could easily afford n ibbok within one year with my pocket money. i dont know how to decide so i thought i would decide using the tiny features not mentioned in the description like tha apple logo lighting up, are there any other for either powerbook and ibook?
I guess what i am asking what are the (good, no trolls)little quirks of you ibook / powerbook, it is after all the tiny stuff and attention to detail that differentiates a quality product from a dell

Shut down and remove battery. There's a little keyboard locking screw next to the NUM LOCK key. You give it a 180 deg rotation in either direction, and it pulls in a tab that keeps the keyboard from lifting. The latest one may not go down all the way (at least mine doesn't) but you can get the keyboard out. There are little spring-loaded tabs next to esc and F12. Pull them in and lift the keyboard up. The RAM shield will require a high-quality #0 Phillips screwdriver to remove. I stress high quality because a poorly made one could damage the screw heads. The screws are "captive" and shouldn't come off the shield. Once you have that off, it's easy to drop in a new PC2700 SODIMM. Touch any metal part to more or less discharge static. Place the SODIMM in at a 30 degree angle and press in gently until it goes in all the way. Finally push down on the SODIMM until the two metal tabs lock into the notches on the module. Put everything back in place. This is one of the easier things to do, and nearly impossible to lose a part.
The pictures in the following are of an older model iBook G4 with an AirPort Extreme card. The new ones don't have that but are otherwise similar.

  • Little things

Just about everytime I turn the volume up or down when nothing is playing, it makes this "Tap Tap" sound Then shows the volume, but it is at the last level, then about two seconds later it goes up to the next one, and if you keep doing that it keeps going "Tap Tap" and takes a couple of seconds at a time to go up one level. It also doesn't work to good with preferences, earlier it dimmed the screen before the screen went to sleep, and the box wasn't checked, and once, the background picture was changing when the box wasn't checked and then when i checked the box, it changed twice every 5 seconds. I think that it has something to do with apple and that they need to fix it in the next update that they make, because it was doing that ever since i got my computer back in august, its been through two updates.

  • Oops -- help with the little things

Somehow, my beginning post was submitted before I wrote it . . . sorry.
Anyway, I'm trying to move to iWork '08. I've played around with it a little, and found some things I can't figure out, even using the help menu extensively.
Is there any "drag and drop" ability? I can't find it . . .
I've been working with tables to put in some simple things, and I can't seem to highlight all the text in the table to assign it a style -- I have to manually drag the curser over the text in one cell at a time.
Is there any way to paste text and make any hyperlinks in it appear as regular text, without changing everything so that all hyperlinks come in as plain text?
    Thanks!

    muddymop wrote:
    1. There's *drag and drop* ability. I have tried dragging an image file, a PDF file into Pages document and it successfully insert the image in.
    2. You should be able to select the cells in the table and assign a style to it. Place your cursor at one of the cell (it should have a blue border around it), click on the cell and drag across the table to select multiple cells, and then click on the style that you intend to change. Alternatively, you may also click on the entire table (it should have the resize handles at all the sizes) and change the style.
I'm sorry if it wasn't clear -- I should have asked "can you use drag and drop on text?" I haven't tried what you did; I've started with text and can't get anything except a regular curser.
Thanks for the info on styles in tables -- I did get that to work.

  • The little things that make you go "grrr"

What minor issues get on your nerves? Perhaps we can all help each other out by airing our grievances.
For me the main thing has got to be that every update of firefox is slower and more leaky than the one before it. It used to be fast and smooth, now it regularly takes over 500mb of ram. I just love the extensions though

You can configure a lot of this to be exactly like that using sudo and the SGID bit for certain binaries.
I'm annoyed at my eee 900 taking longer to get from bios to grub than from grub to login. I hear there's a bios update that can fix that, but I'm afraid to brick it. Anyone know how I can tell if I have the specific correct bios?

  • The Mac Mouse Lag (It's the little things)

Has anyone found out how to fix the "lagging mouse" issue on their Mac? Apparently this has been an issue for years. If you're doing trivial things like browsing the web or checking email, you may not notice. But if you're doing more intricate things like programming or graphic designing, that's when it becomes extremely annoying. It really pains me to say this but after spending a few hours on my mac, when I want to get work done, it's refreshing to go back to windows because the mouse is more accurate. Why Apple continues to neglect this is beyond me (guess they're to busy designing the iWatch).
To quote another user "Having a not properly responding mouse drives me nuts! Its like trying to write with a pen while someone pushes my shoulders."
The link below documents the issue...noticed that it was written in 2011.
The cause for all your Mac OS X mouse annoyances
If anyone has any solutions please post.
    Thanks in advance

I've been doing more googling on this issue. It appears this problems has been around longer than I thought. That is scary. Apple's inaction is basically saying that they are not going to fix this.
Here's another post written in 2006 documenting the problem. It was posted by a graphic designer describing how his company switch to Macs only to find out how inaccurate the mouse was.

  • It's the little things that bug me...

This is really a bit of a rant; though if someone can help to fix any of my problems that'd be great.
    1. The way that all available midi notes in the entire song seem to appear on the Midi editor window (forget what it's called in Logic) if you double click on it (this must just be me, right??)
    2. The way the scrolling works - if I have a loop of say four bars, Logic doesn't seem to be clever enough to realise it'd be nice if it didn't move the entire arrange page back and forward - that is; a loop which is small enough to fit on the screen doesn't automatically do that. And the follow song button seems to do nothing at times
    3. The limiters - they don't work! I suffer awful PDC with the adaptive limiter on individual tracks, and neither of the limiters do what they're supposed to - ie. limit the signal!
    4. When I solo one track, I always seem to get at least one other track through!
    5. The CST reset toggle... it doesn't happen much, but when you do accidentally catch it you know about it... "undo", please!
So, I'm hoping these are easily fixed (well, probably not the limiter bit...) let me know your thoughts...
And this rant/mild whistleblowing isn't in place of a "feedback form" - I hope we can fix at least one of the problems!
    Thanks,
    Mickey.

    1. The way that all available midi notes in the
entire song seem to appear on the Midi editor window
(forget what it's called in Logic) if you double
click on it (this must just be me, right??)
If you mean the Matrix Editor, you're describing what dbl-clilcking in a blank area of that editor is supposed to do. But probably like you, it's rare that I ever want to see that display. From time to time I'll accidentally call up this display when I think I'm dbl-clicking on a note (to see it in an Event Editor window) but I accidentally click on a blank space in the Matrix Editor instead.
I think this function, so rarely needed, should be modified so that it's invoked by having to hold down a modifier key+dbl click instead. But if you see the all-notes display and you didn't mean to see it, it's pilot error.
    2. The way the scrolling works - if I have a loop of
say four bars, Logic doesn't seem to be clever enough
to realise it'd be nice if it didn't move the entire
arrange page back and forward - that is; a loop which
is small enough to fit on the screen doesn't
automatically do that. And the follow song button
seems to do nothing at times
True 'nuf. I'd recommend having the Catch function on a key command (mine's "A") and be able to turn it on and off as you see fit. Turning Catch off will solve this problem, but I agree that the problem you described is annoying.
    3. The limiters - they don't work! I suffer awful PDC
with the adaptive limiter on individual tracks, and
neither of the limiters do what they're supposed to -
    ie. limit the signal!
    What's PDC?
    4. When I solo one track, I always seem to get at
    least one other track through!
I run into this too. Logic is buggy when it comes to certain Soloing operations. My advice would be to set up a key command for "deselect all tracks" or "deselect all objects" (it's one of those two). Hit this before you solo anything.
    5. The CST reset toggle... it doesn't happen much,
but when you do accidentally catch it you know about
    it... "undo", please!
    CST?
And this rant/mild whistleblowing isn't in place of a
"feedback form" - I hope we can fix at least one of
    the problems!
Since Apple is so secretive and un-communicative as a software manufacturer, and doesn't bother to acknowledge known and unknown issues with Logic, IMO the best thing you could do is post your problems here (as well as the feedback thing). This way other users will either be able to help you out, or, from your experience they'll learn something more about their system.
Anyway, that's my lil' rant on top of your rant.
