Little white dot in the blue Egde box

Hey Guys,
Does anyone have a clue as to what the little white dot in the blue Edge box means? Since the 2.0 Update it seems to come up every once in awhile then it goes back the the E.
Thanks

It means you only have a GPRS connection. Not even EDGE.

  • Little White Dot on left hand of screen

Hey guys I have this little white dot on the left hand side of my screen. It seems to be dead center vertically and is just a 3 or 5 millimeters from the left edge. I think it's slightly larger than a single pixel (maybe two?). It's not a stuck pixel. It goes away if I put something darker behind it but if there's something white or very light behind it the spotter stands out as brighter than the rest.
I noticed it a month or so ago. I tried stuck pixel fixers but that doesn't seem to do the trick. I'm way out of warranty so i can really only do home fixes. It's not a huge deal but it gets kind of annoying cause once I notice it keep nagging at the back of my mind until I leave my computer for a while and forget about it.
Anyway I used it for over a year before noticing it so I think it appeared a while after I bought it but I don't know exactly when. I was thinking maybe the LCD backlight got jostled or something and now has a little bit of focus on the spot along with regularly lighting the rest of the screen. just a theory...
So do you guys have any ideas and hopefully easy home fixes that don't risk my computer's functioning?

I have this same issue. I have two small white smug looking spots that showed up about two month ago. It’s is really apparent when the Apple default blue screen at boot up.
I went to the Genius Bar last night to have another issue looked at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1882651&tstart=0 and I inquired what those white dots/smudges were.
“The Genius” said they are what they call bruises. Bruises caused by pressure applied in a concentrated area on the screen. I asked how that was possible when I carry my MBP in a case inside my bag. He then explained that anything could cause this and most likely was gripping the case of the computer when closed. He also went on to explain that this was not covered by the normal Mfg. warranty or the extended service plan.

  • There's a soft white dot on the screen of my new MacBook Pro Retnia

There's a soft white dot on the screen of my new MacBook Pro Retnia That is visible especially when the background is light. It isn't a sharp dot but rather a soft blurred looking dot. Does anybody else have something like this or does anyone know what it is? I'm thinking its s dead pixel but it doesn't look like one that i've seen on other lcd displays.
I set my desktop background to a 50% grey and that's how I found it. Now that I did, i can't stop looking at it. I tried to take a pic of it its in the center of the photo. Its not easy to see on the photo but, its very easy to see on the display. Oh and its not dirt or something on the surface. Not sure if i should go to the genius bar on it. I am worried that it may get worse. Any input is appreciated.

I also had this problem, same make and model and specifications as you have. Brought it into Apple and also called them about. They stated they have not heard of this yet although I find that hard to believe with the # of cases on this being reported. Must have been a bad lot or batch of Retina MBP's that were made and this got by quality control. But they were okay with giving me a new one on the spot.
As you said, doesn't show on darks but on whites; oh boy it sure does and it is annoying on photo editing and documents where white is all you see; about 1.5mm x 1mm big and bright like a little star. Very hard to detect at first unless you have the white background up as wallpaper.
I sent my MBP back for a replacement and told them I did not want a repair on a computer that was less than 3 weeks old. Stuff happens and no one is perfect so long as Apple and their resellers stand by and make amends by issuing new MBP's. I did not buy mine via Apple direct this time, but rather used a authorized Apple reseller and fortunately they agreed to issue a new one. Keeping fingers crossed.

I would like to inquire about how I could have my iPad 2 repaired or replaced. I bought it With a credit card via apple store website last June 19 of this year. At first, I already noticed a little white spot in the middle of the screen visible when the display on screen is dark. I thought this was okay. Now, My problem with it is that, it now has green discolorations at the center whenever the screen display is black or dark I.e. When a website's color is black or dark or whenever I go to the search interface.
    I am from the Philippines.
Please attend to this inquiry as promptly as possible. I'm sorry I have to send it here since I cannot see any email or inquiry page on the apple website. I also cannot reach the toll free number on my mobile phone.
    Thank you very much.

  • Compaq Laptop CQ60-615DX Little white light beside the dc jack blinking repeatedly non-stop

Compaq Laptop CQ60-615DX white light next to where you plug in the power cable keeps blinking. Never stops Blinking. Computer doesn't power on.
The DC jack is loose, took the laptop apart, pressed down on the dc jack to hold it in place, and stuck the power cable back in. Tried to wiggle the cable around to see if the jack is bad. But it feels pretty solid, it's just the housing holding the dc jack in place that's broken.
But I'm still getting the little white light beside the dc jack blinking repeatedly non-stop. No system power.
    Question is.
    1. Is the DC power jack bad and needs to be replaced or.
    2. There is a short in the motherboard and the motherboard needs to be replaced.
I have check all over the internet for what the white light blinking means. I've found no answer.
Could someone please tell me what is wrong with this computer?

I already encouted this problem yesterday and I want to share this information on how I was able to fix this issue where in the dc jack blinking repeatedly and the laptop wont turn on.  This issue is resulted due to overheat so laptop automatically shutdown and results to some kind of hibernation.
    1. First you need to dissamble your laptop (compaq cq60). To clean the exhaust fan. I cleaned it because it was very dirty. I used my laptop for almost five years. If you dont know how to dissamble your laptop, you can check the tutorial from youtube. Just be very careful.
    2. After Removing all the parts you can use a brush to remove all the dust inside your laptop. After cleaning all the dirt inside the laptop you need to let the motherboard cool for 1 to 1.5 hrs.
    3. When you put the dc jack dont put the battery. So once you plugged the DC jack you can see if the light beside the jack still blinking or steady.
    4. Once the light is steady., you can now power on your laptop. and a message will appear that your laptop overheated.
    5. You can use cooling fan to prevent from heating.
    6. Clean the parts inside your laptop every half year. to remove dust that cause the exhaust fan not to work properly.
Now I was able to use my laptop again.
    Best Regards to All!

hello, when viewing our site on an IPad, there is a little white square at the bottom of the screen.

Try giving it a reset. Hold the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red powerdown slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that helps.

  • Not fully transparent when exported little white dots around images

I don't know if I should just copy from the illustrator file while in the program and paste into my indesign document directly or export as some other file. I've done the export as EPS before so I went with that. However my images that I drew in illustrator with a brush tool and colored are not full transparent. I see little white spots I don't know if that's because indesign shows them like that or are they actually there. I am combining images because I drew parts separately as opposed to drawing the whole scene together because I wanted to move certain characters/objects/scenery. My question is are the little white spots actually there or is that just that indesign displays it that way? I exported them with the default settings as EPS in illustrator with transparency. I didn't change any settings. Thank you in advance. Oh and I use illustrator cs5.1

so basically only PDF and AI files are able to hold transparency? or are there other formats? In that case what should be a good format for professional print when I have a logo or image that has transparent parts? (In illustrator that would be any part you haven't colored correct?) I've gotten EPS files though that have transparency. Or maybe I'm using transparency wrong I mean like for example you if I made a logo the edges of the logo would be clean but in my case it isn't. there are little white spots as if my background was filled with paintbucket tool in photoshop and removing it with the magic eraser tool from the white background I filled in. I don't mean transparency as in the opacity but as in the background being transparent. Sorry for the confusion!
    Example:

  • HT4528 my iphone 5 wont charge and it just keeps flashing the little white apple on the screen can anyone help

my iphone 5 wont charge or turn on after updating the software all it will do is flash the little white apple sign every 5 secounds or so any ideas

If no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, there is a hardware problem.

  • Removing the white dot under the help and print widget

I have added the print and help widget to my course and I don't want to have a label name as I think the icons speak for themselves but when I do not enter a name a white dot appears under the icon and I can't figure out how to remove it.  Can someone please help?

Subject: Help needed for removing the white squarez in my sprymenu?
The white squares are caused by the 2em of padding-left in ul.MenuBarHorizontal li. Remove the padding, and replace it with margin-left: 2em.

  • How to disable the blue highlight boxes around links?

I've created a document in InDesign CS5, and when viewed on Adobe Reader 10.2 (on an iPad) all the table of contents links within the document, and all links to external websites have a blue highlight field around them. While I appreciate the fact that it makes it obvious where links are, it looks remarkably ugly to have huge blue highlights all over the document. There must be a way to turn these highlights off, right? Either from the source document within InDesign before the PDF is created, or from within Adobe Reader or Acrobat after the PDF is made? I have all the links within InDesign set to "Invisible Rectangle", and it looks great when viewed on older versions of Adobe Reader or in iBooks. Unfortunately, older versions of Adobe Reader don't support hyperlinks on tablets. So somebody using Reader 10.2, however, is now forced to view this document with ugly blue highlights. Is the only option to avoid the highlights to recommend everyone use iBooks to view the document, or is there a way in Reader 10.2 to disable these?

Thanks, but I already have all the hyperlinks set to "Invisible Rectangle", and there are still blue highlight fields around the links in Reader 10.2. If I view the PDF in other programs (iBooks, older versions of Reader) the links appear without the blue highlights. All the research I've done on this seems to point to the blue highlight fields being a "feature" of Reader 10.2, but I can't imagine that Adobe would create a feature with such a visual impact on documents without offering the option to turn that feature off? In a lot of print, online, and interactive docs both text and images are used as links (icons, buttons, etc) and having an automatic blue highlight around them really takes away from the visual impact that graphics provide. There must be an option somewhere to disable or turn these off, but I haven't been able to find it yet. Any other suggestions/ideas?

  • The little icons to the left of website names (such as the little white 'f' in a blue box for Facebook) on my list of Bookmarks have disappeared so that I now only have the names themselves, which makes it harder to navigate.

Normally, when I click on Bookmarks at the top of my screen, the list of websites that comes up includes a little icon to the left of each bookmark. Now I only get a list. No icons. What has happened to the little four-colored flag for Hotmail, the 'f' in a blue box for facebook, and all the rest? It's now much harder to navigate.

    Problem solved. Brilliant! Thanks.

  • I have a little white block on the bottom left corner of the firefox dropdown menu button that has no function. I have checked with friends and other computers and they don't appear to have the same issue.

the button is still functional it's just a small white square with a black dot in it. I can't really say any more

I had that problem too. The square went away when I disabled the FoxTab (v 1.4.1) extension. It says on the website that its for Firefox 3, but other than the white square it worked fine on my FF4.

  • My n900 just displays a white screen with the blue...

My n900 just says nokia in blue and a white background ? It wont load up?

Good points, but some more info would be good..
the nokia logo appears, does it stay there indefinitely? Does it disappear after a few seconds and the phone turns off?
If you're going to flash your phone, you need to make sure your battery is charged, and if your phone is not booting up it may not be charging the battery (catch 22!!) Even if it looks like it is charging, it may not be!
So, if your phone does not respond to flasher (the tool to flash a non-booting phone) it may seem worse than it its.. it may just need a charge..
Nokia N900, 5800, 5230 and X6 handsets all share the same battery, so if you think you might need a charge, a good bet is to hunt down someone with a compatible handset and swap batteries to do the flashing (or maybe charge your battery in their working phone)

  • I have a small white dot in the middle of my screen.

Is there something wrong with my screen itself? Is it defective? Should I bring it back to the Apple store?  The dot does not go away.  I first noticed it when I was watching movies on netflix.  I spent so much money on this laptop and having something wrong with it after 6 months just *****.

It is possible it could be defective or damaged. Take it to an apple store and have it checked out.

  • Digital Copies of Purchased Movies - Nothing on the Blu-Ray box cover says that we have a limited time to download the movies. Quite unfair

More of a complaint (which curiously has no sept place to be posted). I don't understand why I have to use my Digital Copy Certificate within x amount of time. AND nowhere on the movie cover does it say that the D.Copies have expiration dates!!

After a month I have finally figured out the problem, the movies that I had downloaded were from "Fox" and after talking to a level 2 engineer from Apple who downloaded the same black swan movie I had, we came to the conclusion and resolution that you should be prepared to wait 10 seconds for any movie from "Fox" to start playing.
