Live account corrupt

Hello,
   I have a question about a corrupt user profile in Windows 8.1.  Unfortunately it is now no longer on just one machine, but on 3.  I know how to fix a local account in Windows 8.1, as that is the same process for Windows XP - 7.
How do I go about fixing a Microsoft Live account thought that has become corrupted on more than one computer?
Michael R. Mastro II

Well over half of the programs I use do not work.  I click on the link from the start menu and it will not load up, for instance I click on Microsoft Word, nothing happens.  Now if I go into the folder via Explorer I can launch Word perfectly
fine.  If I put a CD in my computer to listen to music, it brings up the XBox Music app (which is not the default), and says I need to sign in to use the app.  Unfortunately the sign in does not work and it says it cannot connect to the XBox service.
The default setting for a CD is Windows Media Player, I checked after it brought up the XBox Music App.  Also all games that are tied to the XBox service, will not work, they crash to the desktop immediately.  I have brought this up on the XBox
forums, but it landed on deaf ears since no one will reply to this in over a month (That is great customer service).  Now on all my computers I have a separate local account I use as an Administrator, but the Microsoft account also has Administrator privileges.
When ever I install a program I allow it for everyone to use.  Now if I go to my local account, everything works perfectly fine.  Word will load the moment I click on it, I put in a CD and Windows Media Player comes up, since it can't use the XBox
service.  I went in on the live account and verified that the start menu links point to the programs (like Word), and they do.  So the Live account must be corrupted in some form.  This is completely annoying to have to go through the extra
steps to get a program to launch, I feel like I am back in the Windows 3.1 days.

  • Cant go back to my live account on my W8.1 laptop

    Since some time I'm having a yellow rectangle when I work with office documents saying I need to sign in again. When I do the rectangle still remains.
    Yesterday I had difficulty reaching my on-line files of onedrive while their names seemed to have changed into strange combinations of numbers and letters.
    I assumed I had an account issue.
    I disconnected my computer from the live account and signed in with the local account with the intention to go back to the live account.
    Now I'm trying to switch back to my Microsoft account and after I enter the local account's password and click "next", the window is stuck where it shows "Switch to a Microsoft account on this PC" ... "Please wait" and the rotating
    dots next to it (also stuck)! I cannot do a refresh either because when I search from the charms "refresh" and the results come out, I cannot click on the results...
    Please help with this situation since it is becoming frustrating.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Regarding current information, please first let me know if there is any error message you received and any error in Event log related to this issue. Post back for our research.
    Then, I suggest you find the profile folder for the Microsoft account under C:\users and delete it, try to connect it again.
    If it doesn't work, consider if related service and system files were corrupted:
    Please run SFC /scan command as admin to scan system files.
    Also, we can try to run a system restore back to the point when the system work fine to see if your issue can be fixed.

  • Want help with "Could not set up your CS Live account. Try again later."

    Hi Folks
    I've got an NFR of CS6 and I'm trying to give Adobe Story a shot.
    Seems it requires online content and a CS Live account to do anything.
    But when I try to create one it dies with the error message:
    Account setup not completed
    Could not set up your CS Live account. Try again later.
    Can you help?
       Joe
    UPDATE: Downloaded update and that fixed things.
    However, turns out my NFR of CS6 Production Premium doesn't allow me to use Story.
    And here all I wanted to to do try out the transcription features of Premiere Pro.
    Without a script it's complete gobbledygook. Would like to try it with a script but it appears I need Story to convert my PDF to Adobe Story format.
    Oh well.

    I ran into the same problem you did, Joe.  I just realized Story is all online now.  Story.Adobe.com

    CT: well, it happened to me, again! Some "Entity" came through with a contact request JUST AS (and I mean "JUST AS")  the notification popped up that a new Skype update is available. Of course, I blocked (and reported)
    So - again, why should people who know that they DO NOT WISH TO BE CONTACTED IN ANY WAY - not via any venue - just by their contacts that they have in their contact list....WHY should we have to bother with people we don't want? IF they do not wish to have themselves "outed" then let them be careful whom they contact. I would go even further and say, if it is someone that is sure one WISHES to hear from them..... via Skype.... then let them add a few personal identifying remarks.. Or call or email prior.... and not just barge in.
    WHY IN THE WORLD DO WE HAVE TOOLS>OPTIONS, AND GET TO SAY HOW WE WISH TO HANDLE OUR ACCOUNT, when it isn't taken as serious by Skype-Microsoft?!!!! I'm getting quite irritated by this. All the glitz and glamour about Skype and what all you can do with it.... won't mean much if the user can't have his/her account setting and privacy setting.

    Tpa255- okay not to sure IF I can help; I must admit to being guilty of laughing at the attachment but I can see why you are getting 'p***ed off' - I think after a while I would to.  Okay I am operating under  Vista - 'Word' but the advice that VK (another blogger on this forum) and me give out is 'shut down all the holes' more or less! So follow this:  On your Skype programme - open it and go to 'Tools' - click on 'Options' then 'Privacy' now go through the list slowly and ensure that all those 'Options' are ticked as 'People in my contact list only' right through to 'Allow IMS' then the next biggy is those 3 boxes - ENSURE that none of them are ticked ESPECIALLY the one 'allow my on-line status to be shown on the web' - Righto: then work your way through the list - 'Notification Settings' - again, make sure that the boxes stating 'Requests my contact details' and 'send me contacts' are NOT ticked; then 'Call Settings' - ensure that the box 'allow people from my contact list' is ticked and then same for 'IM Settings' - Lastly - yes this is the last bit of advice - ENSURE your Profile is not showing on the web or even really limited - false name and all - see what I mean below -  AND you are not 'linked' to Facebook - ensure that your Profile is EXTREMELY limited - put up a false photo / or not! Go as far as not even showing your birthday!
    It is a sad world that we live in that we have to put up with these 'slimy balls' that deserve not to live and annoy us so, so much:  LenaLynn is in the same boat with 'her generals!'
    Remember we are a vast community so a reply just might take time to come through but VK and me do get there to respond!  Even though I have mine as 'tight as a barrell' Tpa255 everytime Skype wants to update I get the 'out-of there contact' - so I am not immune either...
    I am hoping all this info will help - I will alert VK to you as well and see if VK can check and see if I have overlooked anything and add anything else...
    Try to keep smiling ah!

  • Need to change Windows Live account

    Hi all,
    The Windows Live account I entered at startup has been blocked after Hotmail told me I was entering the wrong password (turns out I was actually right all along!)
    There's now an ongoing 'temporary problem' with resetting the account, so I need to change to a different WL account. I saw somewhere this can't be done.. surely this makes no sense? Can it be effected by doing a complete reset of the phone (Lumia 800) if it comes to that?
    Because I don't seem to be able to access that account, I'm without email, updates and apps so far and counting!
    AAAArgh!

    Yes, I have set up another account with Live, but the phone keeps demanding me to sign in with the Hotmail account (no option to sign in with a different a/c) and I can't find a way of making @live.co.uk the default.

  • Windows Live Accounts for Company Phones?

    Hi all,
    I am hoping you can help.
    At the company I work for we are enrolling Windows Phones as the Business phone but to get our Mobile Device management Software on we need access to the Windows Store.
    I only need the Live accounts for the store. The users do not need individual Windows Live Accounts
    I was wondering what is the best way to sign up 20+ phones so they can get apps from the store?
    Any help would be appreciative
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

    The Windows Phone Store does require a Microsoft Account(MSA) to download apps. This can be either the end user's MSA or a company issued MSA. All MSA's have a 5 device limit on Windows Phone. If you plan to create your own MSAs, note the following:
    Currently there is a limit that only 3 Microsoft Accounts can be created per day from the same IP Address.  You can request an exception by using the following form:
    https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?productKey=wlidipexc&ct=eformts&scrx=1
    To submit a whitelist a request please have the following information available:
    • Contact Name
    • Contact email address
    • Customer Name
    • Customer Company Name
    • Microsoft program the customer needs the exception for
    • Company Domain(s)
    • Public IP Address(es)
    Temporary whitelisting of an IP lasts for 30 days. Whitelisting requests should be within 30 days of the final day of the planned event, but not any sooner, to make sure the IPs in question remain whitelisted through the entirety
    of the event.

  • Windows 8 + Live Account - Unsync Desktop Backgrounds

    I have a setup with several Windows 8 machines - including virtual machines utilizing Hyper-V.  I really enjoy the benefits of using my Live account to keep [most] things in sync, but it would be really nice to be able to exclude certain items from
    that synchronization (selectively?). One element that would be most helpful is to not sync my desktop background images. With all of the RDPing from one machine to the other (and adding in the Hyper-V machines to that equation as well), I really like to keep
    the background images distinct to help me quickly identify where I am working. I can't figure out how to unsync that element. Is this possible? If so, anyone care to enlighten me?
    My setup (if you care)...
    Machine1: Core i7, 12GB RAM, 120GB SSD [Host OS (Win8), Media Center, Plex Server, Hyper-V Server], (3) 1.5TB drives in RAID-5 (core data storage), (1) 1.5TB drive (Virtual Machines), (1) 1.5TB drive (Unprocessed Recorded TV files)
    Machine2: Hyper-V 6 CPU, 6GB RAM, 350GB Virtual Disk [Win8, Office 2013, Visual Studio 2012, SQL 2012, etc.] {this is intended to be my primary workspace and I RDP to it from the host OS when I am in the office}
    Machine3: Core i7 laptop, 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD [Win8, Office 2013, Visual Studio 2012, SQL 2012, PLEX App etc.] {this is a fully capable machine, but the intended use is RDP to Machine2 whenever possible}
    I also have a Server 2012 Virtual Machine hosted by the same Machine1 - this is setup for Remote Access to my LAN (via VPN) by my laptop (which I hope to replace/supplement with either a Surface Pro or a Lenovo Helix).
    (The reason I have both the physical Win8 VM Win8 is to allow me to RDP into the VM without breaking Windows Media Center on the physical machine.)

    Hi,
    Please do not sync Desktop Personalization. You can make this change by the sync options of changing PC settings or Group Policy.

  • Windows 8.1 Deploy is trying to sign onto Microsoft Live account.

    I have a few Windows 8.1 machines running through MDT2013 just fine. They boot to the desktop as Administrator and finish a few jobs and completes fine. Now I have a Motion tablet, set up the same identical way, but rather than booting to the desktop as
    Admin, it stops at the logon screen with two generic icons to choose from - one a Microsoft Live account and the other a Local Account. I have to choose the Local account and type in Administrator and the password I've already put in the unattend. I only have
    30 of these tablets, but I don't understand why they're not logging onto the desktop as the others do. The TS steps are exactly the same and so is the unattend. Any ideas?

    Hi,
    The full version of Windows 8.1 pro in this link is ok for you to do the clean installation.

  • Redirect_uri issue when authenticating user with live account.

    Hello,
    i am working with a MVC application which is using OAuthWebSecurity to authenticate the user through live account, i am able to get access code and see the login page, but while getting access token i get the exception "The provided value for the 'redirect_uri'
    is not valid. The value must exactly match the redirect URI used to obtain the authorization code", i have checked couple of times the redirect_uri, it is same at the time of login request and at the time of getting access token, i dont get this exception
    for the first login, i get after the first login, following is the code where i get the exception.
       Exception asyncEx = null;
                LiveLoginResult liveAuthResult = null;
                LiveAuthClient client = new LiveAuthClient(ClientId, ClientSecret, "");
               //below i'm retrieving the url i have passed at request login.
                string redirectUrl = (string)context.Items["DefaultRedirectUrl"];
               //i get the exception from out param asyncEx
                liveAuthResult = AsyncToSyncUtility.RunSync(() =>
                    return client.ExchangeAuthCodeAsync(context);
                }, out asyncEx);
    i don't know whether the problem is with the code or from live provider, can any one help me to resolve this redirect_uri issue..?

    Are you using the LiveSDK?  You may want to see if the access token request is formed correctly using the following format.
    POST https://login.live.com/oauth20_token.srf
    Content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
    client_id=CLIENT_ID&redirect_uri=REDIRECT_URI&client_secret=CLIENT_SECRET&code=AUTHORIZATION_CODE&grant_type=authorization_code
    It's difficult to tell how your code is actually building the request to send to the OAuth server.

  • Windows 8 + Live account + Internet + wrong password = stuck

    I dont know if this question has been asked, but here goes.
    I have noticed this problem since the time I installed windows8. I have connected my live account to windows8 and I use it to login.
    So at login time, if the internet is connected (usually wired) and i accidentally enter the wrong password, it shows the  spinning 'Welcome' but gets stuck there. No combination of keys work and I never get a prompt to re-enter the password. The only
    way to fix this is by turning off the internet (pulling the wire ). That is when it says that the password is incorrect with the 'ok' button.
    I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and is there is any fix to it.

    If the PC is connecting to Internet, the credential will be validated via Windows Live Server. It seems there has a connection problem between your PC and Windows Live Server.
    You can update the graphic card driver manually to test the issue. If it cannot resolve the issue, please disable connection when sign in Windows 8.

  • Windows Live account sync error 86000108

    Got my Lumia working well except that Live does not sync, keeps flagging above error code -> calendar and contacts do not sync. My Live account works perfecto on my laptop. Hotmail is about empty, couple of emails from hotmail team, few hundred contacts.
    I've tried all the instructions provided by MS support pages (turning mail on/off etc.), but error persists.
    Do I really need to hard reset the phone in order to get it working..
    Solved!

    Hello oneFinn,
    Sorry to hear you have had such an incovenience with your Windows Live account. But could you tell me if the below method help?
    Go to this linkhttp://mail.live.com, sign in to your Windows Live ID. If prompted, finish setting up your mailbox.
    Do the same inhttp://contacts.live.comsetting up your calendar if prompted and accepting Terms of Service in this linkhttp://account.live.com
    On the phone, go to Start, flick left to the App list, tap Settings, and then tap Email & Accounts. Tap on Windows Live and re-enter your username and password information, and then tap Done.
    On the phone, go to Start, flick left to the App list, tap Settings, and then tap Email & Accounts. Tap on Windows Live, tap Download email from, tap the last 7 days, and then tap Done.
    If the issue persists try again later due to this may be related to a temporary service outage. This is better than hard resetting your phone where your data will be wiped. But if you do decide to reset the phone, rememebr to back your data up onto the cloud.

  • Cannot log into MCP live account

    I received an annual email reminder to log into my MCP account to keep it active.
    When I tried to log in it told me that it appears that someone else is using my account and I need to verify my account.
    The only problem is that the email address I originally used to create the account no longer exists so I cannot use that method.
    The only other method is to then fill in a completely useless form that asks mostly irrelevant questions.  In fact only one of the questions is relevant to me.
    The other questions ask for:
    Previous passwords I have used on the account - irrelevant (I have only used one password to my knowledge)
    Details of emails I have recently sent from the account -  irrelevant I don´t use the account to send emails
    Folders I have recently created in my email account - irrelevant
    Xbox live payment details - irrelevant - I don´t have an xbox live account.
    So in all the "security" questions I am asked, only the name of my favorite pet is relevant.
    Anyway I filled in the form as best I could and then got a response saying I hadn´t provided sufficient information to be verified.
    How am I supposed to verify myself?  This method of verification is pretty inadequate.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, Vards0.
    Do you know your MCP ID? You only stated that you have your email address used to log into the MCP site.
    If you don't know your MCP ID, perhaps you still have a printed exam results from a passed/failed exam. This contains information that can be mapped back to your account. It won't have your MCP ID but it will have your Prometric ID.
    If you don't have any printed exam results, perhaps you can still log into
    http://register.prometric.com. After logging in, click Update Personal Information to view your Prometric ID, which may look something like SRxxxxxxx. This should give Microsoft Support enough information to map it
    back to your MCP ID.
    NOTE: Make sure the email address that you record on your profile on the Prometric site is the same email address that you will use to log into the MCP site. Most likely, Microsfot will have you create another Live ID (Outlook, live, Hotmail) account.
    If you can't log into Prometric, call them. Here is the contact information for Microsoft exam candidates:
    https://www.prometric.com/en-us/clients/pages/contact-numbers.aspx?client=microsoft
    Gather all the evidence you can and then contact your Microsoft Regional Service Center. Their email address is
    [email protected]
    You can also call them on the phone. Please use the following web page to find the correct contact information for help.
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/help.aspx.
    Again, have all your evidence ready.
    This web page includes email and phone contact information for your geographic location so you can email or call them directly. They will help you get this figured out. Most likely, they will have you set up a different email address.
    NOTE: This public forum is usually monitored by fellow IT professionals like you and me but not by Microsoft employees.
    Good luck!
    Best wishes, Davin Mickelson
