Live! Cam Socialize HD 1080 - recognised but no picture

Just got the new webcam and installed as per instructions. I have installed the latest drivers as well.
I'm running win 7 32bit.
Camera worked ever so briefly and now I get no picture. I have uninstalled drivers, reinstalled them, rebooted between installations etc. When I plug the camera in I get the red light come on and then after a couple of seconds it goes away again.
When I start skype to test, it recognises the camera but shows no picture, the loading circle just keeps on going around. Also, I get no picture in Live! Central 3.
The device shows up correclty in the device manager and also in devices in the control panel.
The same thing happens when I connect it to my laptop running vista.
When I run AMCap on the pc, i get no picture, but I clicked on capture video and then the red light comes on but still no picture.
As i said, it worked briefly but now not at all.
Any advice?

Seems like the webcam is faulty. If you purchase this from your local hardware store, please contact them for replacement.

17!" Studio Display connected & recognised but no picture?

Hi I have an iBook G4 & have connected it to a 17" Studio LCD.
It shows up in "about this Mac & in System Prefs/ Displays but no picture.
When I press the power touch sensitive swith on the front that lights up white.
Same when I touch it again. Hard to know when it's on or off because nothing else changes. Black dead looking screen.
Any ideas what the problem is?
It was working fine on my friends MacBook.
I bought an adapter for it & the fact that it is recognized makes me think the connection is OK but why no pic?
I've not used an external display before.
Is there something I'm missing?

First try 'resetting' the Display by disconnecting it from mains for about 15 minutes and then plugging it back in. I've only had the problem that you describe once and this was the 'fix' for me.

VHS To iMovieHD using Song D8 Camcorder, Camera Recognised but No Picture

Apologies, it's an old topic I know.
I read through a number of threads and have a few ideas but wanted to post this as well.
I'm trying to setup a friend (87yo) to capture his old VHS tapes to iMovie HD by routing the signal through a Sony Digital8 camcorder, using it as an analogue/digital bridge.
The camera does do this. No problems there.
Plugged it all together. iMovie-HD recognises the camcorder but when we playback the VHS no image appears on the iMovieHD monitor.
Tested capture to iMovieHD with a tape in the D8 and that works Ok.
As my friend also has FCP3, (but finds it too hard to use), I tested capturing using FCP3. I set the capture device to "non-controlable device". This worked without a problem. The VHS signal was passed through the D8 camera into FCP3.
Tried iMovieHD again with no results. I get the feeling iMovie MUST have timecode when capturing.
My local Apple shop io running an ad for canopus "digital video convertors" which says "import straight into iMovie for editing", which isn't quiet "capture with iMovie".
I'm curious to know if you should be able to capture directly into iMovieHD this way or do you need 3rd party capture software, to capture the clips, which can then be imported into iMovieHD.
Any assistance gratefully received.

- Some analog to DV converters don't work in iMovie HD 5.0.2 like they do in iMovie 4.0.1.
1. For example, my Sony TRV320 can convert analog video to DV in passthrough mode in iMovie 4.0.1, but not in iMovie HD 5.0.2. Reportedly neither Sony DVMC-DA1 converter's, or Sony DCR-PC110, Sony DCR-HC30E, Sony TRV-340E, Canon ZR80, Canon ZR200, Canon MV630i or Panasonic NV EX3 camcorders' analog to DV passthrough work in iMovie HD 5.0.2 like it does in iMovie 4.0.1.
Analog-to-DV workaround #1: Import using $20/40 BTV/BTV Pro or iMovie 4.0.1. Then import it to iMovie HD or, to save time and HD space, drop the .dv file in the Media-folder.
Analog-to-DV workaround #2: (This worked with my Sony TRV320 with iMovie HD 5.0.1 but not anymore with v5.0.2). Put a tape in the camcorder and press the camcorder's PLAY-button to play the tape in VTR mode (usually the tape must be OUT when doing analog-DV conversion!), then in iMovie hit the Import-button (so iMovie starts to import from the tape), then press the camcorder's STOP-button. iMovie should then continue importing from the analog source as usual.

Live cam Socialize VF0640

The Box said it will work on Mac 10.5 and higher, I have a Mac Mini running 10.6.7 and can't get it to work. I tried the assigning it to the USB port, it see's it, and it still doesn't work. It works just fine on my wife's windows but not my Mac. Any ideas why?

I have a B5400 laptop, my built in camera worked on purchase but has since stopped. It is listed in the device manager and says its working OK. When I try to use it on Skype I can record sound but no video.
I have downloaded latest drivers and installed them. Turned the laptop on and off.. reinstalled drivers and rebooted but still the same problem.

Hi Laura,
From your failure description it sounds like you're having a hardware issue, It could between the Camera it's self or the LCD Cable. Reason why I say is that the LCD Cable is usually connected to not only the Panel but the Camera giving you Video/Mic functions.
Software wise, since you updated your drivers there could something wrong aswell with your OS preventing the hardware to be accessed or disabled in that manner. Try using the OKR button and "System Restore" the unit and see if that helps.
If it continues to give you an error contact Lenovo Support Centre and have your unit sent into one of their Lenovo Repair Depots to have the defective parts replaced in a timely manner ! Cheers

Camera connected and controllable, but no picture in monitor when importing

I have a Sony DCR-TRV17E connected through firewire port on my powerbook, and I CAN control the camera using the capture controls, but no picture (or audio) appears in the iMovie monitor. Likewise when I click on import, either for a magicmovie or normal.
It's driving me mad, and all the help pages say is check this, check that, unplug and start again etc. None of which helps!

May be time for my faulth finding list:
Mac:
- hardware
◊ Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
◊ Disconnect all other ext devices (FW and USB) exept Camera (and keyboard + mouse) and try again
◊ Reset PRAM
◊ Bad RAM-chips
◊ disconnect Mac from powerline (not just switch off, really plug out) for a few minutes to reset FW ports
- software
◊ File-Vault is on - turn it off
◊ Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
◊ Do You have desktop pictures or screen or energy-savers active? Try turning them off.
◊ Updating - OS has to be a clean install - not an update eg from X.3.x to X.4.x (no good) OS X.4.0-5 needs a clean install to work (I use X.3.9)
◊ Updating QT and/or other updates (to 7 needs v6 to be cleaned out first) QT v.7.0.0-4 needs a clean install to work (I use 6.5.2)
◊ Have you tried the crazy fix: Open GarageBand, play a few notes, close it and reopen iMovie. The camera should import fine now. Sue/SDillini
◊ Running iDVD at the same time as iMovie can cause problems: (Lennart Thelander)
◊ If You also have installed FinalCut Express/pro there are possibly problems with this

◊ remove bookmarks in iMovie project
◊ Trash: com.apple.iMovie.plist and com.apple.iMovie3.plist : files (Xinram)
Connection:
◊ don’t Daisy chain Camcorder <--> external hard disk <--> Mac
◊ FW-wire cable, is it OK?
◊ USB/USB2 is NO GO !
Camera:
◊ The Camera is set to VTR ? (not as when You ”film” record with it)
◊ You may be need to go to the Camera menu and select digital out.
◊ defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC ! (if the A/D chip in the camera is harmed then it will say in iMovie that the camera is connected and You can forward rep. backward the tape but there will be no picture or sound just the blue screen.
◊ Cheque the menu on Your Camera so that it communicates with the FW digitally to Your Mac
◊ Date and Time is correct on Your Camera ?
Tape:
◊ Drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
◊ Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is pre-recorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
◊ If You recorded in LP-mode (90 min on a standard 60 min tape with 12-bit sound). Try to change in iMovie pref. to import but not as individual clips. If this doesn’t work You have to make a Camera to Camera copy with the receiving Camera set to SP-mode and 16-bit sound.

Microphone doesn't work for Creative Live! Cam Socialize HD AF HD Webcam (for Windows 7).
I have to use external microphone from Logitech now.
I send few emails to Customer Service. They answered once to check my Device Manager and disappeared after that. I'm really disappointed.
It looks like the drivers for Windows 7 are wrong.

if you have the USB Mic connected kindly remove it first then uninstall the audio drivers for your B510.
let windows install its generic driver.
once done plugin your usb mic and test it again.

I assume you mean the Nikon D810 because D800/800E support has been there since Lightroom 4.1
Currently, because it is a new camera (D810) the only support is in a RC of ACR 8.6 for Photoshop CS6 and CC, as the RC runs out on 31 August it is expected support will be there in the next dot release of Lightroom.
Current limitations are that only full sized NEF is supported.
If you wish to import to Lightroom 5.5. you will need to download the DNG Converter v8.6RC and convert the NEF files (full size RAW ony) to DNG then import into Lightroom 5.5

I don't think there is a setting to do that with included applications. You probably have to look for an external software to do this.

We have a solution that allows you to do most of what you want, including bulding the form, having people fill it out either in Reader (as an XFA-PDF) or on the iPad (as an HTML form).
You design the form once, and it will by styled correctly on the appropriate platform.

Live cam voice ......errr Help please

HI all,
I wish i never uninstalled my web cam....never had it working since.
I;ll put you all in the picture....Dell, Win XP Pro, SP3, and trying to install Live cam voice.....
Unfortuantely i think i have misalid !! the main CD it came with.
I have installed the drivers ( the most up to date ones 1.02.08.0710 ) and application package on the creative web site for XP.
The application seems to freeze, the web cam works, but when it tries to install the drivers, it halts for ages on the wdmaud.drv to c:\windows\system32.....is trying to install that driver section for over an hour now, if i disconnect the usb end ( which i will do now, it says its installed ok and finished ) but not not recognise the audio section. It shows up ok and fine on the video web cam, and also as i mention above the application seems to freeze adhock.
Advice given from ireland on the phone,
1) try tips from website ....like shut down anti virus and firewall etc ...done that no use !
2) uninstall, install the files from the CD
3) uninstall.... install from the web app and drivers ( which i have already done )
4) try from another PC...i have not got another PC!!!!!
Does anybody have any other tips...please help

Yeah, I hear ya! There is such a tremendous delay between sound and video that it looks like a bad kung-fu dub :womansad: I bought 5 of them for may office and they are horribly poorly synched. What's up?

I have similar problem! Autofocus is extremely bad! I sid still right in front of camera and the autofocus keeps calibrating, which means that i get out of focus... Please develop firmware update asap to fix this issue!!! I have tried tweaking the settings as mentioned in the above post, and cleaning the lens thoroughly (took it right out of the box), but none of this helped...
You cant call the web cam a cheap model, so I find this very critical!
Please help me, so I can be satisfied with my purchase.

Live cam voice & msn messenger

I bought creative live cam voice and I cannot get it to work with WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER as it always crashes and gives the error message "the program has stopped working". Im using vista 64 bit and all the latest drivers.
I did get it working for a short while with MSN 7.5 but microsoft now prevent that version being used and when you try and install it windows insists on downloading live messenger instead.

Creative live cam voice help please

We are using the "live cam voice" model, with our computer (Vista 32bit), that appears to work OK, but after a few minutes we get the BSOD! We have tried un installing and re-installing drivers without any effect.Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it.

Thanks for your response. I have tried 3 ports so far, all with the same outcome. One of my sons had it happen to him on another computer (XP SP2) using this webcam . As to programmes open at the same time, I am not computer literate and have no idea what programmes were running on each occasion.We use the webcam for Skype and apart from that I may also have IE open and perhaps Outlook Express. Over and above those CS4 sometimes.
If I cannot resolve this, can any one suggest another webcam please.

Unable to get Live Cam Video IM pro to work with MS Messenger

I have installed Live Cam IM Pro and all software from CD, plus updates. It works if I try Cam Manager ... I see myself in preview window.Looking in Start - settings - control panel - scanners & camera there is only one entry, the Live Cam pro. I cannot get it to work with Windows Live Messenger .... if I initiate a video call, it rings but when far end answers ... I get video window with ... video loading message, but it fails and I just get a standard XP icon. If I go to Messenger .. tools ..audio & video the camera sparks into life and again I see myself in preview.But when I go to tools .. webcam settings I see the error message :Cannot change camera settings because your camera is not plugged in or you are using it in a video conversation or with another programIt is obviously plugged in, and there are no other programmes running. I have tried deinstall & reinstall ... no difference. I have removed CD extras .. so now just have Cam Manager & Video driver ... but still no joy.Anybody know how to fix this ?
