Live Cycle Designer PDFs won't send over email

I recently created a few PDF forms using Live Cycle Designer, but when I went to distribute them via e-mail I ran into an issue. Every time I attached a PDF file, it isn't recognized by gmail. I just get the message below. It's only the Live Cycle Designer files - other PDFs send just fine. I tried updating my Live Cycle software, downloaded the new version of Reader, re-started the computer, etc. but nothing works. Help!

  • Unable to view pdf created in Live Cycle Designer ES2-initially thought to be a user/OS issue

Unable to view pdf created in Live Cycle Designer ES2.  I initially thought this was a user / OS issue when I created a document for someone who is new to a MAC laptop.  She could not view the document through email.  Unfortunately, I began seeing the same error in my own document folders when searching for another document showing as icons instead of a list.  I can open the file without a problem although I see the error she sees only while viewing the icons in my folder.  I am using a Windows 7 PC. Now, I also know that if the document is downloaded, it can be viewed.
    Other notes:
If trying to access the form via the internet, the same error is seen through Chrome, Firefox, and Mozilla but NOT through IE
Everyone seems to have the latest or a very recent READER
The form is compatible with Reader versions 7 and up
Again, downloading from the internet to the computer appears to allow the file to open properly
Document cannot be viewed on the Galaxy Tab 2 via Chrome or the pre-installed Internet Browser, nor can it be viewed through the Reader after download to tablet. I did not try on an Apple iPad.
All parties involved are up-to-date with virus protection.
Below is a link to the exact message received when trying to open the document.

You're on to something KJ!  Yes the form was created in LiveCycle Designer ES2 which came bundled with my Adobe X Pro.  I began creating a new form yesterday and found that I could not preview the form, rendering this same "error" instead.  I ran a repair on my Adobe and at first it seemed to fix the issue but after making some changes to the form I tried to preview again and couldn't.  Here is what I get when I try to preview my forms in Designer ES2:
When I click the OK button, it then gives me that single static page as mentioned above in previous posts.
I searched Adobe yesterday trying to figure out how I could repair the LiveCycle Designer or if there was some sort of patch that I haven't gotten but was not able to find anything.
(Sorry for the delay in response, I've been on vacation.)

  • Convert a Live Cycle Designer generated PDF to regular acrobat PDF

    Hi,
I am assigned to the task of converting Live Cycle Designer generated PDF to regular acrobat PDF. I tried all options know to me but cannot succeed. The forms in LC designer is a fillable form with two buttons at the bottom. (Print & reset). The controls on the forms are
    Textbox
    Checkbox
    Print & reset buttons
    I tried the following options
print  to a new pdf but the form became non-fillable with no controls
importing into acrobat as new form but it said "document contran xml form and cannot be imported"
tried save as with no success
I am willing to re-do the form but trying to minimize the re-work
The add or edit fields on form menu is not available for the form generated in live cycle.
we want to get rid of all live cycle dependencies and stick to bare bones acrobat
    Please help

The only way I can think of woudl be to print the XFA form to PDF (using the Print driver that comes with Acrobat). This will create an AcroForm PDF for you but all fields and structure wil be lost. This will give you the boiler plate, then you can use the Form Tools in Acrobat to lay fields on top of the form.
Note that if you want to change some of the boiler plate you will have to go back to Designer and repeat the process. You may want to bite the bullet and redo the form now.

    Hi,
I will try to find the standard function module. If there is no such standard function module, then we need to create a custom function module.
    Check this link:
    Points that you can note:
    1) Adobe Interactive forms can be created & connected to SAP database using ABAP Workbench, through WebDynpro.
    2) Also adobe Interactive forms can be created & connected to SAP database using Transaction SFP.
    3) And for both of the above 'Adobe Live cycle Designer' should be installed on the front end.

  • Fdf format should work with pdf's made with Live Cycle Designer!!!

using: Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0; Windows XP.
I have need to take data from a SQL database and display that data on various forms that were created by a city Agency, the DOB. Some of the forms were created using Adobe Acrobat version 6. For those forms I am able to create an .fdf file and open the associated pdf by using a run statement in my prorgramming language. This is very nice. The fdf format is easy to recreate, and the run statement opens the pdf with the data displayed automatically, WHICH IS MY DESIRED END RESULT!!! Users click a button in my program, they get a form with the data on it.
Now the DOB has created new PDF forms that were made using Live Cycle Designer. Much to my suprise, documents create by the designer cannot handle the fdf data format, just xml. This is a real problem for someone trying automatically populate a pdf from data collected not using the form itself. The xml data format cannot automatically open the document and populate the form data the way the fdf does. I spoke with tech support and they had no answer for me but to recreate the forms. That will take me days.
It is hard for me to understand why you would create a tool such as Live Cycle Designer that prevents a user such as I from using all of the features of your Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 product. Very suprising.

You might ask about this in the regular forum. There are several form experts there that may be able to help you.

  • How to convert pdf file to xdp format in Live Cycle Designer

    Hi Guys..
I am looking to convert a pdf file into xdp for further processing.
I try to convert it in Adobe Live Cycle Designer.. but no success..
I changed the options under tools menu - Default file type for new forms into XDP.. still I cant save the file as XDP..
Anyone know how to do it..
    Cheers

Where is that PDF coming from?
You might have to import it and the New Form Assistant will convert it to an XDP.
When you load it in Designer, do you get the New Form Assistant? What version of LiveCycle Designer are you using?

  • HELP required in ADOBE LIVE CYCLE DESIGNER 7

Please guide whether the following can be done in ADOBE LIVE CYCLE DESIGNER 7
    1. Design a form(PDF) and connect to a database
    2. Call the designed form(PDF) from an external application (Oracle Forms 9i)
    3. Pass some values dynamically into the query of the form(PDF) designed.
    4. Based on the values passed dynamically into the query,
some values have to be populated into the form (PDF) from the database.
    5. Should be able to enter additional values in some blank columns of the called form(PDF) and save it.

    1. LiveCycle Designer can helps in designing PDF and/or XDP templates these templates can fetch data from database.
    2. XDP templates can render output in PDF and HTML format. Those accessible for other applications.
    3. I never tried passing values in query string. There could be a way to do this.
    4. These templates can prepopulate data and can do additional user interface actions. There are methods to repopulate/refetch data after initial display.
    5. Forms accept additional data and can trigger events based on users actions.
    Good luck

  • Differences between liveCycle Forms and live Cycle Designer

    Good morning
Someone tell me which is the difference between lliveCycle Forms and live Cycle Designer???
    Thank´s

    In a nutshell:
LiveCycle Designer is a tool for creating PDF forms, form templates (XDP format) and form guides.
LiveCycle Forms is a server side product for combining form templates and XML data to produce interactive PDFs or form guides.  It also can process submitted forms including extracting data from a template.  Forms can be combined with other LiveCycle modules to create a more complex document workflow.
In other words:  You build the template with Designer.  You use Forms to merge the template with data and process user submissions.

    - Which version of Adobe Live Cycle Designer should I ask for?
above 8, can recommend you to install 8.1

you need no extra licence because you´re a Developer:))

  • How to open multiple instance of Adobe Live Cycle Designer ES 8.2

    Hi,
How do I open multiple instance of Adobe Live Cycle Designer ES 8.2. I have two forms and I need to compare them. Another situation is I want to correct/copy the contents by keeping the old and new one under the view simultaneously. I also want to take advantage of multiple monitors
The MDI style windows with Ctl+Tab to switch between documents is not helping me in the context explained above
       adobe Acrobat work on multi instance if I type acrobat.exe /n;
but if I type "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Designer 8.2\FormDesigner.exe" /n;, its just opening the existing livecycle instance
    please help

I don't think you can run two instances.
But you can stretch the main application window across both monitors and tile the two documents inside the main window.

  • Live Cycle Designer disappeared.

I had a fuly functioning copy of Technical Comminications Suite 2.0 hich included Acrobat and Live Cycle Designer.  I bought new copies of Acrobat XI and when it has installed Live Cycle Designer is no longer available.  Why is this and how can i once again use it as I need to do so for my forms?

AFAIK LiveCycle Designer has been replaced with Forms Central in Acrobat XI.

  • Integrate live cycle designer with Dev environment

    Hello All,
We are implementing adobe forms for the first time. We are in process of installing the adobe live cycle designer 8.0. My first question is that we can purchase this directly from the adobe site right ?
Also, I read that this live cycle designer has to be integrated with the ABAP workbench. Can someone pls. provide the details of how this integration has to take place.
    Thanks

Designer is included with Acrobat Pro so if you download the trial version of Acrobat Pro you will get Designer too!

  • Calculations in live cycle designer es

    Hi,
I'm trying to read through the Adobe Live Cycle Designer book but totally lost when it comes to the formulas.  I have a dynamic form --its going to be many pages -- that uses drop down boxes with points 1, 3, 5.  If the user has three fields to review, and enters 1, 3, 5 in each.  I need to have a Total field that adds up to 9.  I can't figure out the syntax on how to set it up.
    Page two of file:
    Field 1, named Workplace
    Field 2, named Privacy
    Field 3, named Ownership.

    Hi,
My personal preference is to use Javascript was scripting. I tend to use FormCalc for calculating dates, etc. As a result I sometimes forget the range of inbuilt functions in FormCalc.
Your use of the sum is a timely reminder...
When referencing objects it is important that you give the full reference (or the minimum reference relative to the two objects). What I am trying to say is that if the two objects are in the same subform, then you can just use the object names (as you are doing). But if the objects are in different subforms or different pages, then you need to give a fuller reference.
It raises one point - it is good practice to name objects as you are going. Clearly all of your objects are named and subforms (HIRE). But you should also name pages, eg page1. This makes it easier to reference.
The easiest way to reference objects in your script is to press Control and then click the object you want to reference. This will insert just the right amount of reference into the script for you.
For example if the two objects are in the same subform:
    $ = SAFETYPOINTS
But if SAFETYPOINTS was on a different page (page4) and in a subform (HIRE), then the script would be:
    $ = page1.HIRE.SAFETYPOINTS
    Hope that helps,
    Niall
