Live demo match move on green screen- on stage

Hi
Some professional organizations are considering a multi-faceted demonstration of camera match movement and on site - live - demo of track solution and compositing.  Any advice regarding what hardware / software might best meet the goal would be appreciated and considered.
Camera will probably be something like this:
http://media.panavision.com/ReferenceLibrary/pdfs/Phantom/Phantom35HD_1sheet.pdf
On a dolly on track ( probably fischer 10 )
http://www.jlfisher.com/dollies/rental_packages/10-rental.html
With either 2  20' x 20' butterflies with green screen (at right angles) or painted cyc and return
Any suggestions for real time trouble free match move and compositing would be appreciated.
Thanks - Rod

Yes, every time I see a green screen cyc, I think of that one scene from The Exorcist. Can't disassociate the two in my mind/memory. I can still recall the William Freidkin piece on that film in American Cinematographer. Also, their articles on The French Connection, and 2001 A Space Odyssey. Great mag back in those days. Wish that I had not moved, and recycled those.
Now, going to the cyc, we had a 30' wide, by 14' high, with a 20' runout apron - no side coves/returns, but we were using this for stills. I had a client, who wanted it done in neon purple. I offered that color to several art directors at a major discount - just touch up, and four took me up on it. I got so tired of seeing that color, but it did pay the bills! I think that HP did two entire brochures with that color on the cover - board test, and emulation. Nowadays, I'd shoot those grey products with just the reflections and lighting that I needed, and drop them into the neon purple background. Then, we had to deal with the reflections in the surfaces that "saw" the color, and hang flags all over the danged place. Oh, how I love digital!!!!!!

  • Green Screen Background Matching Problem

I have been working on trying to match a background plate to a camera move with green screen elements. I need some help. Looking for someone who might be able to look at the project and give some advice (paid advice).

have spent a bit of time trying different ways of tracking this and none of them were spot on to be honest....
I have emailed to the contact link on your website the best I could get on my tracking programme - it is in a mulitplane node as I mentioned in a previous post.
Take a look - I only did a rough key - so basically what you should do is pull your key - switchmatte it with the original plate and plumb it in to the multiplane through the same input.
If you want to move the position of the BG plate inside the comp then the easiest way is with the move 2d node before multiplane - (you can do it inside but that can be a bit tricky)
BTW - for some reason PFHOE wouldnt accept the dimensions of your origial FG plate so I had to letterbox it to make it 1920x1080 - if you do the same then the track should match
I know its not a perfect result but it is by far the best I could get after trying Stabilizers and smoothcam. If you need better I would suggest trying to find someone with a full copy of PFrack or Bojou who may know a few more little tricks.
    hope it helps

  • Green screen match move solution needed

I've been asked to create a video version of a live performance which features musicans performing in front of a video backdrop of moving imagery. Their backdrop is not 16x9 and we don't really want to see any kind of frame around the projection, so I'm thinking perhaps we should simply green screen the talent and key the imagery in post to fill the background. This would make it easier to sync the imagery between shots and elimates the need to color-correct the video projection, but it introduces the problem of matching the background to the camera angle. If we were to use only stationary shots, I'd be inclined to think we might be able to simply approximate the geometry for each shot, as the imagery has no specific spatial relationship to the performers - it's simply the background. All we're concerned with is approximating the angle of the imagery so as not to jar the viewer when we cut between camera angles. However, it's likely that we'll want to incorporate some camera movement as well, which of course introduces a whole other set of complications. It appears to me that match move software is really designed to facilitate 3D object tracking and seems like extreme overkill for this project, particulary as the cost and complexity of this software is well beyond our budget. Is there another approach we should be considering?

Thanks, I had hoped that the new camera tracker in AE would provide a simpler solution, but after looking at it in greater detail I can see that the level of complexity it introduces to each shot along with the time required to pull consistenly clean keys from a variety of angles would make the production of what is essentially an 80-minute music video a completely unsuitable option. Now looking for a rear-projection solution...

  • Live type files look grainy and do not fill the background when used for green screen backgrounds.

live type files look grainy and do not fill the background when used for green screen backgrounds. Ideas?

What I want to do is somehow make my entire iMovie project smaller by compressing it somehow but without losing any footage or audio or quality. At the moment the project is a 56GB iMovie project lasting approx 1hr. I have a mixture of miniDV footage, titles created in Live Type (they are better quality than anything available in iMovie) and audio.
The miniDV footage is automatically compressed when it transfers from my camcorder to my Mac, no worries there.
The LiveType titles contain a motion background (imported into LT) and then text which appears and disappears at set points. The titles vary in length but are about 5 seconds each.
The file size for the LT titles is approx 180MB per clip, the movie requires about 20 or so of these clips, making a very large file size overall.
Is there a way that I can save something in LT so that the file size is smaller yet still keep the quality and use the clip in my iMovie ?

  • Live Green Screen Broadcast and Record - Which Software and hardware? DESPERATE

I want to setup a stand (for example in a shopping centre) where I can give the opportunity for people to star in their own movie and they will get a DVD straight after them being filmed.
Below is an example of what I mean:
There is a green screen with a toy car, big enough for a child to sit infront of the screen. A parent pays me for their child to star in their own movie. The child sits in the car for 3 minutes playing with the steering wheel and pretending to be in a race. This 3 minutes is recorded on a video camera, as well as the green screen being chromakeyed out showing the child in a race on a big TV that draws the crowds. Straight afterwards the customer is given a DVD of their movie.
    further spec needed:
I want high definition footage for the Movie on DVD
I want to be able to record this footage as it is being shot - 4-5minutes from when the child sits in the car to getting the DVD as to maximise income/hour.
I am wanting to know which software of the Production Premium CS 5.5 software will stream it live to the TV and record it on the DVD on the computer - I know that I can stream it to the TV and use a DVD Recorder to tape whats on the TV, but apparently that is unreliable.

    Thanks for the reply Mylenium.
None, plain and simple. You are looking completely in the wrong place. And it's not even a mere software problem. As a minor, you would still need a capture card to stream the camera via HDMI or professional video signals (HD SDI, YCbCr Component etc.) to your computer. It's nothing you can do with any standard graphics card. Depending on what else you require, you would probably need more specific hardware like a NewTek Tricaster or whatever...
Ok. I then will break it up. Is there any Prod Prem cs5.5 software that will live stream the chromakey footage to the TV? Surely there is a way to have a live feed from the camera to the computer without the need for hardware and then software that will stream it out to the TV - Apparently Wirecast can do this - does Adobe not have something similar ? I am going to be building a Computer around the above intended use, so a P2 Card Reader was suggested. The budget is R8000, or $800 for the exerything except the monitor.
That's impossible. Per spec, DVD can only record SD PAL/ NTSC. For HD, you would need a BluRay recorder and that's gonna cost you, especially since for what you have in mind only the more expensive BD-RE will do what you want and due to the strict licensing rules, BD recorders are far and few inbetween and thus expensive...
    Mylenium
Thanks Mylenium for the clear reasons for this, I need a quality that is not pixelated to be displayed on a TV at home when the people take their DVD home to view. Suggestions on resolution?
HAs anyone else got any low budget solutions?
Some Context: I am teaching myself everything in order to do this - unemployed and know i can make this work though. I have never been involved in the field before I got this idea so I have great gaps of knowledge here.

  • Green Screen - Only Viewing Stupendous Demo Version yet bought Full Version

We are completely new to Mac. Total Windows XP geeks but complete newbies to Mac.
I purchased a Mac Mini because my kids were so impressed with an Apple Demo at the Apple Store of green screen and they are big into making movies. We viewed a kid showing how to green screen and load the demo from Stupendous Software and got that working. Then my kids said to purchase the full version for $25 and I did.
We tried the install directions from Stupendous but for some reason the demo stuff still shoes up. Help.
When we bought the Mac Mini we had to download IMovie HD6 because it did not come with the Imovie in Life 08 software that we got when we purchased the Mac Mini.
    Thanks. Mark

To enable this right you need Acrobat, not the free Reader.
However, starting from Reader X it is possible to add simple markups to any file, unless it has been specifically disallowed by the creator of the file.

    Hi
YOU need to - in iMovie - Turn on Advanced Tools !
top row menu - with an Apple top left ---> iMovie ---> down to preferences ---> Here select to turn on Advanced tools .
Now it will work when You drop a clip onto another IN a MOVIE PROJECT ! (can not be done in Event's)
Next problem I had - was to get right clip onto the other - what was the Background and What was the Green screen - BUT just test - You only got two ways to try out.

  • Can you crop, resize and move a clip using green screen?

This is what I'm trying to do:
Film an outdoor shot of a mountain in the distance, then film myself in front of a green screen pretending to climb. Crop that "climbing clip" ...reduce the size, and move it so it looks like I'm climbing the mountain.
I'm hoping this is possible with the express version of Final Cut... even better if it was possible with iMovie HD.
    Thanks!
    Spence

    Hi Spencer,
Yes, you should be able to do it in FCE. You would have to play with the green screen clip in wireframe mode in the Canvas to resize & move it. Probably can't be done in iMovie.

  • I'movie green screen

I have used the green screen effect in i'movie 11  - but when I play the clip the background appears a split second before the actual footage does... How can I fix this so it doesn't look like the subject appears out of thin air?

Is the clip a bit longer than the the green screen effect, and it is positioned so that it starts after the effect starts?

Power off the router. Wait awhile. Power it back on. Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.

  • Why a bright green screen before movie plays on Front Row?

Before I reinstalled Leopard the other day all .avi movie files on Front Row would play immediately on selection. Now, for a brief moment, the screen turns bright green before starting a number of the movies. Not all are affected. But those that are come from the same initial bit torrent source.

It seems to be part of the file as it shows when playing direct on QuickTime. Interestingly there's no green screen when the same file is played on another computer. And it didn't happen on this computer before re-install. Also, when the same files are played in QuickTime the QT pane reduces in size to smallest possible in the first few seconds of playing. If I enter full screen, the pane size doesn't reduce.
