Live Font

I want to use the LiveFont "Gust" but when applied, the color is red. I have tried changing the color of the font in the text inspector, but it will not change it in playback. Is there any way to make this text black?

You can use color correction - either a gradient colorize? or turn the font to monochrome and up the contrast?

Illustrator CC 2014 file unable to save when live fonts are included.

Illustrator CC 2014 file will not save when there is any kind of font included that IS NOT outlined / converted to paths.
Does not matter what font. I have tried saving as .PDF / .EPS and I still experience the error ("An unknown error has occurred").
If I copy and paste that live font into another .AI file I have open, then that file will also not save and I get the exact same "unknown error" box when trying to do so.
I'm on an iMac and not using any font management software.
Anyone experience this issue yet?

I believe the first guess is corrupted font(s)/font caches, see Items 1) and 11) in Other options (follow the link with that name).
It could be any (number of) font(s) in the fonts folder, not just the one(s) in the document.

Change font in a live font

So I am using the Burn Barrel live font in Motion but I do not like the plain font that is used. I want to use another font on my system. How do I make it so that the font I choose is the one burning instead of the default one that Motion makes me use?

You cannot. LiveFonts are pre-built animations.

Help with changing a font color in a live font

I have motion 1 or studio 5 crossover. I added a live font to my canvas can can't get the color of the font to change. the font i am using is called "cool" and it is a default red. I have changed my color in the dashboard and even in the inspector, but it will not let me change red. even changing the RGB will give me variations of red. Funny, but I can change the color of the outline, drop shadow and glow of this same font. Bug? or am I missing something?

The only way I know of to change a livefont color in Motion is to apply an HSV filter to the text and rotate the hue around til you get the color you like...

Adjusting the speed of live font

I have my text typed in and the effect I chose in live font but when i adjust the speed slider it just extends the length of the clip not the speed of the effect. The effect is very slow right now, any idea on how I speed it up?

Make sure that the purple effect track is selected (click it once) before changing the speed in the Inspector.

Live Font Color

When I pull up a Live Font and try to change its color in the Dashboard the result is not the color I pick. Is there any other way to change the color other than using a colorize filter? Thanks.

The LiveFonts are pre-baked movies with colors already applied, so choosing a new face color is adding to the existing color. Try the hsv filter, or the desaturate and colorize filters.

Motion 4 Live fonts...

made a simple text animation that says "the beginning" using "script" live font in Motion 4.
text comes on properly but after the animation finishes, the "t" in "the" goes away!
so Im left with "he beginning" at the end. I even tried putting a space before the worth "the" but it didn't work. Whats going on?

Easiest way is to probably just reinstall LT from your older set of disks, maybe on a separate Macintosh.
I do not see any option to create the font resources from within Motion.

Disable CC 2014 live font rendering

How can I turn off the live font rendering in Photoshop? It is incredibly annoying when I am looking for a font and every font I scroll over changes my font in the Photoshop file.
I have looked all over for an option to turn this off, but can't find it. Surely, Adobe would allow this feature to be turned off since they also allow font preview to be turned off, right?

Likewise, I'm still learning new things. I don't think that ever stops with a tool as rich as this.
Tooltips are fairly easy to ignore, and there are ways (on a Windows system at least) to change their timing if that sort of thing would suit you.
One thing I'm sensitive to - and am always trying to learn more about as well - is the human quality (or maybe it is a shortcoming) where we feel resistance to change.
There's a lot of change in the high tech world that truly ISN'T an improvement, and there's other change that actually isn't bad - once you get used to it. I'm not saying the new font choice mechanisms are one way or the other, but it's CERTAIN that there is some resistance to change involved with the change.
I'm sure that, given a product this mature, Adobe has a hard time changing anything without upsetting someone who's totally tuned to the "old way" of working. And I'm a BIG fan of offering options whenever there's a fundamental change if at all possible, which allow users to deal with the transition on their own terms. As an example, because an option was provided, personally I didn't switch over from using the windowed interface to the tabbed interface (introduced in Photoshop CS4) until about halfway through the time period where Photoshop CS5 was current.

I lost all my live fonts, objects, textures, fonts and effects! Help!

I currently upgraded my Final Cut Express to 4. After my install I noticed that some of my old projects needed to have titles reconnected through Live Type. When I went into the file in Live Type it told me that there was media missing. All of my Live Fonts, Fonts, Objects, Textures and Effects are different now and the old ones are gone! What happened? Is this a result of installing the new FCE 4 and if so can I get the old ones back? Help!!

FCE V4 comes with a "lite" version of LiveType which is dramatically different to the previous version in the amount of media included.
My suggestion would be to uninstall FCE4, (re)install the previous version, and totally complete your old projects.
Some posters have apparently been able to install the old media along with the new media. A search of this forum might reveal the best way to do this.

Live fonts not working

just bought a new iMac with fce pre-installed... working on livetype projects to import and having trouble with some live fonts... templates seem to work fine, but some livefonts i've used don't animate. Installed the livetype media discs 1 and 2, said installation successful, but still not working. (They were installed to "library/application support/livetype".) I've restarted the computer, etc, but the media browser in LT still shows "no" in the "installed" column.... i'm confused & frustrated... AAAHHHH! What am I doing wrong???

"Pre-installed" by Apple or from a previous owner?
You can search this forum for similar topics. We see improper install issues fairly often. The possible issues are many and some depend on the user's administrator status when installing.
If you navigate to > (They were installed to "library/application support/livetype".)< and double-click on some of those files, what happens?

Live Fonts

Hi,
I'm trying to run a live font (burning oil) over another so that it appears that the letters are burned onto the screen. Therefore, I need the burning oil livefont to appear first, and have the letter appear behind it as it fades away.
I want this to happen from left to right. I am having some trouble making adjustments to the two, however. My preview appeared just as I wanted, but after I rendered a movie (for use in iMovie), it showed the hard letters appearing much too early. I went back to Livetype and moved my fadein effect and exported with no change. I dragged the hard-lettered font further down the timeline (nearly to the point the letters were absurdly late in my preview) and when I rendered the movie, it appeared exactly the same!
Any ideas?

Unless you have given your movies unique and different names, iMovie (with which I have zero experience) may not be replacing the old media with the new. You'd have to view all of your movies separately in QT to see if there are any differences. No idea why you're not seeing the changes. LT doesn't behave the way you are describing so I'm sticking with Probable User Error as the more likely explanation.
Get the timing the way you want it and then render two movies, one with the Oil characters only and another one with the hard font only. Match them up in your editor instead of trying to do the work in LT. Dunno if you can do that in iMovie all at once but you should be able to bring in the two font tracks, combine them, render them, and export the movie. Import the combined font movie into your main iMovie project.

Live Fonts in Motion

On Two occasions I have tried to use Live Fonts in Motion and both times
when I import them into final cut or DVD Pro and make a DVD they come out looking pretty skimpy looking. They are very thin and nothing like they look in Motion itself.
Any ideas?

Live type won't show "objects, textures nor live fonts"

I reinstalled FCP and components and now Live type won't show features like "Objects, Textures and Live Fonts". What can I do to recover them?

Missing Live fonts + keyboard shortcut question

Hi,
looking at the mew features pdf at LT I find it mentioning these Live fonts under "collector's edition":
Itchy, Tap and under "Pro" series: Hand, Gutter and Buck. None of these are installed on my system ?
Also a question about key commands, which I found no list in manual
isn't there a key command to place the playhead at the beginning ? is the only way to do this really by dragging it manually ? this is very clumsy and I just can't believe that it is that way.,..must have overlooked something.

I think you're right in this ..I did get a totally new package of FCE 4. It's pretty lame for Apple as the manual that comes with the program states that these fonts are included

Managing Live fonts to release HD space

Hello again..i seem to be asking a lot of questions and i hope i can help as i learn more...
Ive got issues with hard disk space and i notice Live Type and DVDSP taking a massive 19GB between templates and live fonts. In Livetype i notice the live fonts have a preview but they are not checked as installed. Each 'type' is something like 600MB so they are in my system. Can i just drag live types and templates into the trash and still retain the previews.
For what i am doing i dont really want motion anyway...i can control from FCP

If you'll scroll down a few months of posts, you'll see several folks have asked similar questions. I can save you the time; I do not believe any of the threads have been satisfactorily answered or closed.
When you install, you have an option to ignore the massive collections of movies, objects, presets and textures. You can choose to only load the previews. These are sufficient to do most composing and then, as you are prepared to render, you are asked by the app to insert the appropriate resource disk and only the fonts or textures that you need will be loaded. (This preview-only workflow is ridiculously frustrating, though, I do not recommend it.)
You could, I suppose, carefully hunt down and trash everything associated with LT and then reinstall by loading only the preview elements.
Sorry not to offer more concrete information. You'll do us all a favor by telling us what you try and how it works out.
