Live in NY USA and going 20 min into Canada???
I live in Utica NY and I travel to Niagra Falls CA which is about 20 minutes across the CA boarder. Will I be charged roaming if I use my iphone, email or use Edge or connect by wi-fi? Please help?

It all depends WHICH cell tower the phone picks up at any given time.
BOTH USA and CA towers will bounce in and out and it can get expensive.
I found this out the "hard way"
I would shut off mail before getting to the Peace Bridge.

Ever since I downloaded the iOS 7, I have not been able to get into the iTunes Store on my phone. I have not tried to on my iPad 2 yet. No, all iTunes gifts and gift cards are country-specific - so a Canadian gift can only be redeemed in Canada onto a Canadian iTunes account.

A no-contract sales price does not mean unlocked.
Apple is now selling an officially unlocked iPhone in the U.S. which has nothing whatsoever to do with AT&T unlocking iPhones. It is up to the carrier and the carrier only to officially unlock an iPhone that was sold as carrier locked with the carrier - in this case sold as carrier locked with AT&T. This may change one day, but at the present time AT&T does not unlock an iPhone for any reason or under any circumstances. -

Unlocked means unlocked, so yes.
But, support and namely warranty coverage may not be available for you in Norway or anywhere but in the US with any iPhone purchased in the US, even an unlocked iPhone purchased in the US. -

I have moved from Ireland to the USA and now (legally) live in Seattle. When I try to login to the iTunes store here in the USA, I get a message telling me that my Apple ID is only valid for purchases from the Ireland iTunes store. What moron put in a restriction like that? Apple is now telling me that although I can legally move from one country to another and take up residence, I can not travel globally with my Apple ID? What use is having an Apple ID then as I can travel and buy globally with Amazon?
Do NOT create another ID. Change the country of your present ID.

Realize, however, just as you can no longer visit your old public library in Ireland you also no longer have access to the store or your purchases made there. You can continue to use them as they are on your computer now but that makes it all the more important you maintain backups in case of loss. If you upgrade an app I think you will have to pay for it again since you no longer have access to the Irish Store. -
Can i combine my husbands contacts and mine if we have two different itune accounts and emails and passwords? Can both sets of contacts live on the cloud and be donwloaded to both our phones?

You can do one of two things. The first is to just export out the contacts and import them into each other’s account. If something is updated the other person will not be updated with the information. Now another options is using one Apple ID for iCloud Syncing and then you can still use individual Apple ID’s for store purchases. If purchased from Apple, it will be officially unlocked & will work in India. Be aware, your warranty/support will only be valid in the US, & the phone will only support LTE in North America.

You have outdated iOS software so without upgrading it first there is little you can do. A restore will force you to upgrade as 5.1.1 is no longer signed.
