Live linking or "nesting" of art brushes

I don't know how feasible this would be to implement but what I would like to see is the ability to "nest" art brushes. To explain, what I'd like to be able to do is make one art brush with say, a "Stretch Between Guides" setting that when used unexpanded to make part of another brush, still retains the "Stretch Between Guides" for that element or to be able to set a colorization method for that brush and have it override the colorization method chosen for the brush it is incorporated into or the ability to use one brush as part of an element in another brush and then after modifying the original brush, get a dialog similar to what you have if you go to edit a brush after you've used it where you have the option to apply that change to the existing artwork (another words, to modify the new art brush) or to expand the element in the brush and break the link or nesting...
I'm not sure if I'm being entirely clear with this but it seems like if there were a way to do this similar to the way symbols or some live effects work, it would open up a huge number of possibilities with the brush tool.
I'm sure this probably falls in the "easier said than done" category but with a preference to allow or disallow this feature with individual brushes, it seems like it could be done without risk of breaking older files or workflows.

Take a pencil and paper and make a drawing of what it should do.
What you get is a bunch of pages that display what you describe. Then draw lines.
A link from one image on *the top page* to *a page that shows three individual projects*.
Then a link from one image on *that page that shows three individual projects* to a *the individual project page*.
The sub-pages should have their page hidden from the menu, but still have the main page visible in the menu.
Always make sure your visitor can get back to the top page.

  • Art brush bug(s).

I really don't know why it happens. 'Art brush original' in second picture is art brush material for art brush in both pictures.
In the first picture, the circle has no fill, and it's showing white fill as if it has.
And the second picture, as you see, something's gone horribly wrong.
I'm not really sure but this hadn't happened till the latest update(I might be wrong).
download link for second example: [download]

Well, I found out myself what's causing this bug, it was blank fill/stroke rectangles on each element of the brush, still doesn't explain why, but yeah. Bug is still a bug.

  • Print web page to PDF file with live links in PDF file like Apple Safari's pdf prints?

With Firefox for Macintosh, can I print a web page to PDF in such a manner that when I option the PDF file and click on a link, it is a live link that opens in my system's default web browser?
With Apple Safari, when I print a web page to a PDF file, the links on that page are "live" and work to open the web browser to their destination. The PDF files I get from Firefox are dead. Clicking on link does not open in browser.
Is there a way to get FireFox to act more like Safari in this regard?
    Thanks

Seems the referenced thread is about Lion. I am having this problem in Snow Leopard 10.6.5 with Firefox. Any way to get PDFs with working links in Snow Leopard using FIrefox? I do not really want to have to use Safari for this purpose.
Going forward when and under what circumstances will future versions of Firefox be able to create PDFs with live links? Are there any circumstances where a current or past version of Firefox can do it under any current or past version of OS X?
    Thanks.

  • Live links in PDFs generated from Microsoft Word 2008?

A couple of years ago, I was informed that my live links (bookmarks, indexmarks, etc.) in documents generated by Microsoft Word 2004 for the Macintosh did not become PDF live links in Acrobat Standard 7 because the Mac version from Microsoft Word 2004 didn't use the necessary hooks (
    i "APIs"
or something like that) even though the Windows version did.
Now that MS Word/MS Office 2008 for the Mac is coming out, will we be able to generate PDFs with such live links.
Any input will be most appreciated.
Acrobat Standard 7.0.9. Tiger 10.4.11. Dual bootable, DP MDD 1.25GHz G4 (2004), maxed out at 2GB of RAM, both Spotlight and Dashboard disabled, Photoshop primary scratch disk on dedicated 160GB internal drive, at least 100GB available on each of the four internal drives, up to 300GB on some. Counting external FW drives just over 1TB of drive space available. nVidia GeForce 7800 GS 425MHz 256 MB graphics display card. Processor napping enabled through CHUD 3.5.2.

While this does not answer the problem of live links. (You can create them Manually, they just are not generated direct from Office Mac).
The answer to the other question of the little annoying PDFMaker Menu (that never really worked correctly for me (took 5 minutes just to generate a 108K PDF).
Because MicroSoft took out VBA Support on Mac side That rendered the PDFMaker menu useless because it uses VBA to work.
So what they have done in Word 2008 is actually put it as Translator choice on the save menu. They now directly can save Word Files directly as PDF files. once you have created your file and saved it. Then go again to *Save As....* , when menu open scroll mouse down until you run across the choice PDF. select that and save. not only is it easier a 108K document can be saved in about 15 seconds or less not the old 5 minutes going through PDFMaker.
One of PDFMaker's failings was that each step of conversion it called up Distiller which first created a .PS file. Then it checked the file. Then created the PDF file. Then checked the file again before actually writing the PDF File. Then only after checking the written PDF, would it delete the invisible PS file. Finally the PDF file was created. Naturally with all the check steps if you have a very large file could take ages.
With word's new feature (2008) you can generate a PDF at blinding speeds.

  • Created new Art Brush but it dissapears

Let me just say I am reasonably new to Illustrator.
I've created a new art Brush: New brush>Art Brush> and made my selections and clicked ok. The brush then shows in the brush palette where I have access to use it but then when I close the document and reopen a new one the brush dissapears. Where did it go and how do I get it back??
Please help... not sure where I am going wrong in saving the brush.

Once you create a brush in Illustrator you need to save it by choosing save brushes under Brush libraries menu.
What you can do now open the old document  click on the save brushes and than open the new document and under Brush libraries menu select other libraries and open the saved brush library from the previous document.

  • Can I set Connect meeting background as a WebPage that contains live links?

We're looking to harness the Adobe Connect meeting functionality by using it as a kind of a customers portal, where the user can (among other things) retrieve reports relating to their workflow.
    PRESENT STATE
Our organisation has a Report Web Application that lists reports (in pdf) that are mailed out to our customers. The administrator assistant generates reports from an https page from the Report Web Application.
    FUTURE STATE (hopefully!)
    1. Our organisation administrator sets up as many meetings in Connect as there are customers. Each customer has only one meeting. None of the other customers can see the others' meetings.
    2. On entry to the Connect meeting, the customer will be able to access the Report Web Application as a webpage and download the reports she requires
    My big questions here:
    1. Can we publish a webpage (with live links) in Connect?
    2. We'd like to encrypt the Connect meeting room webpage for best possible security. Is it possible to encrypt (https) some meetings but not others? If so, what extra things do we need to do this. PKI Infrastructure?
    3. Report Web Application is encrypted, will that make a difference to displaying t within an Adobe Connect meeting?
    4. Is there any problem if the clicking a Report Web Application links generates a pdf.?
    Other information:
-The Connect server is housed in our network if that makes any difference.
-The Web Reporting Application is pictured below. Clicking the 'Download' link will generate\display a pdf
-It will most likely need to be an encrypted webpage
That's all for now. Phone me if you like...I'd appreciate it!

  • How do i make live links in an ebook?

Using Indd CS5 mac OS 10.6.8
I'm laying out a print book which will also be converted to an ebook using InDesign's convert to EPUB feature.
I need to make several websites listed in the resource section live links.
    Question:
Do I need to include http://www in the website citations in order for the links to be live in the ebook version?
What do I need to do to insure that the links will be live in the ebook?
    Thanks in advance,
    Diane

Hmmm, I just saw on Adobe TV that you could create a link with the hyperlinks panel and put the whole url, including the http:// in the url field of that panel and leave the wording unencumbered in the book itself. I was hoping to not have all those http:// s in the listing of websites in the acutal book.
I want to have it look like this www.blablabla.com
    and not like this http://www.blablabla.com
Can someone tell me if this is indeed possible?

What does the  live link open text means?
    Early reply is highely appriciable.

    Hi,
OpenText is a company providing different document management and archiving solutions. LiveLink is one of their archiving solutions. (Just use Google for more reference.)
My guess is that you need to work with a workflow process that involves archiving of scanned invoices.

  • CS4 Illustrator art brush applied to path

I've made an art brush that looks like this:
And applied it to some wavy vertical lines. The lines are open paths, all drawn with the pen tool. The brush works fine on some of the lines, but others end up looking like this:
    Any idea what's causing this?

Oh, sorry - I misunderstood Scott's comment. But…there are no fills applied to the original wavy lines; they are just lines. To clarify, in this image, #1 is one of the original wavy lines (just a .5pt line, no fill); #2 is that same line with the brush applied; #3 is a different original wavy line; #4 is #3 with the brush applied, and #5 is a short wavy line with the brush applied, included to show the brush effect on an entire line. 4 & 5 are correct - this is what I expect to happen when I apply the brush. #2, with the even/very oddly filled cut off section, is incorrect.
However, I did figure out that I could fix the problem by slightly reshaping the curves in the misbehaving lines. I'm still curious about what's causing it (don't think anything's corrupt), but this will work for now. Thanks for your help  :-)

  • Art brush not following path

I have an art brush that I created to achieve an offset on an open path.  In some location the brush doesn't follow the path.  I have attached an image.  The narrow pink line is the actual path.  The thicker pink line is the art brush I created for the offset.  You can see at the top of the image what the style is supposed to look like.  Once the path starts curving towards the bottom the path and the brush get out of alignement.  I have tried adding points, which works on other types of brushes, but doesn't seem to work on art brushes.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?  Thanks.

It only occurs around certain curves and bends.  Here is other path with the issue.  You might be able to recreate if you draw a shape like this.  Also, I am using CS4.  I don't know if this is a bug that may have been fixed in CS5.  I don't have any effects applied to any of the strokes.  The only items listed in each line of the appearance is the stadard. "Opacity: Default"
Sometimes if I just redraw the corner using the pencil it will help, but not always. And sometimes adding an extra anchor point at the beginning or end with help, but again not always.  It is very strange and the reason I avoid art brushes if possible.  However, I can't find other way of offsetting a stroke on an open path.

  • Art brush question

When I use an art brush on a rectangle the corners all have a flat, angled
outside edge. It doesn't matter what art brush I use, it happens with all
of them. I've tried changing the miter type but that doesn't do anything
with art brushes. Is there anyway to get the brushes to 'flow' around the
    corners without the flat spot?
    Thanks!
    Richard

The simplified file in question is here:
    https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0kosHJIs4dTZTE1MjgyM2UtZmZmNi00ZDMwLThiNzAtZGE1OTI3MzFhN jBm&hl=en&authkey=CJvuvO0B
    Two layers, two objects.
The blue object is the subject of discussion as the art brush.
The "crystalized" oval with the transparent gradient is on a locked layer.
Trying to change the direction of the art brush while the transparent gradient object's layer is locked fails.
Unlock the layer and the direction change works as expected.
(The CS5 symbol sprayer problem has been discussed on this forum in the past, probably NOT related here since I ruled it out by deleting any in the file)

  • How do I put in a live link?

I would like to include a clickable live link that opens a new browser window. How do I do this?

Select some text in a Formatted Text element for example and then right click. You can then 'Insert link...'. This is also available in the Insert menu in the top right corner.

  • How do i send an html file exported from muse as email blast with images and live links?

    My question it:
How do i send an html file exported from muse as email blast with images and live links?
I have designed a "website" in adobe muse and exported it as an html file. I am not sure how to send my .html file in an email!
    Best,
    Nicole

Unfortunately, the answer is, you don't. The requirements for HTML displayed in an e-mail reader are very different than those for HTML displayed in a browser. The output of Muse won't work as an HTML e-mail. You could upload the Muse site as a website and provide a link to it in an e-mail, but the HTML generated by Muse is not suitable for direct display by an e-mail program.
