Live links in pdf

I have made a special report for web site. People sign up for it i send it to them in a separate email. That email has the acrobat url for my report in it. The problem is that the live links I have in the report are not live. How do I fix this problem?

Thanks for the response. Here is the link to the report with the links:

Adobe Acrobat.
Thank you.

  • Print web page to PDF file with live links in PDF file like Apple Safari's pdf prints?

With Firefox for Macintosh, can I print a web page to PDF in such a manner that when I option the PDF file and click on a link, it is a live link that opens in my system's default web browser?
With Apple Safari, when I print a web page to a PDF file, the links on that page are "live" and work to open the web browser to their destination. The PDF files I get from Firefox are dead. Clicking on link does not open in browser.
Is there a way to get FireFox to act more like Safari in this regard?
    Thanks

Seems the referenced thread is about Lion. I am having this problem in Snow Leopard 10.6.5 with Firefox. Any way to get PDFs with working links in Snow Leopard using FIrefox? I do not really want to have to use Safari for this purpose.
Going forward when and under what circumstances will future versions of Firefox be able to create PDFs with live links? Are there any circumstances where a current or past version of Firefox can do it under any current or past version of OS X?
    Thanks.

  • Live links in PDFs generated from Microsoft Word 2008?

A couple of years ago, I was informed that my live links (bookmarks, indexmarks, etc.) in documents generated by Microsoft Word 2004 for the Macintosh did not become PDF live links in Acrobat Standard 7 because the Mac version from Microsoft Word 2004 didn't use the necessary hooks (
    i "APIs"
or something like that) even though the Windows version did.
Now that MS Word/MS Office 2008 for the Mac is coming out, will we be able to generate PDFs with such live links.
Any input will be most appreciated.
Acrobat Standard 7.0.9. Tiger 10.4.11. Dual bootable, DP MDD 1.25GHz G4 (2004), maxed out at 2GB of RAM, both Spotlight and Dashboard disabled, Photoshop primary scratch disk on dedicated 160GB internal drive, at least 100GB available on each of the four internal drives, up to 300GB on some. Counting external FW drives just over 1TB of drive space available. nVidia GeForce 7800 GS 425MHz 256 MB graphics display card. Processor napping enabled through CHUD 3.5.2.

While this does not answer the problem of live links. (You can create them Manually, they just are not generated direct from Office Mac).
The answer to the other question of the little annoying PDFMaker Menu (that never really worked correctly for me (took 5 minutes just to generate a 108K PDF).
Because MicroSoft took out VBA Support on Mac side That rendered the PDFMaker menu useless because it uses VBA to work.
So what they have done in Word 2008 is actually put it as Translator choice on the save menu. They now directly can save Word Files directly as PDF files. once you have created your file and saved it. Then go again to *Save As....* , when menu open scroll mouse down until you run across the choice PDF. select that and save. not only is it easier a 108K document can be saved in about 15 seconds or less not the old 5 minutes going through PDFMaker.
One of PDFMaker's failings was that each step of conversion it called up Distiller which first created a .PS file. Then it checked the file. Then created the PDF file. Then checked the file again before actually writing the PDF File. Then only after checking the written PDF, would it delete the invisible PS file. Finally the PDF file was created. Naturally with all the check steps if you have a very large file could take ages.
With word's new feature (2008) you can generate a PDF at blinding speeds.

  • Dead links in PDF -- any further updates?

I started an lovely ebook in Pages and tested it to see how it would look in PDF, but to my dismay I found that the hyperlinks were no longer live. After searching these forums, I see this topic was discussed last September, and that Apple simply didn't put the capability of making live links in PDF exports into Pages.
Have there been an further updates on this issue? I would really hate to have to resort to using Acrobat. I've used it before and really, I'd much rather use something neat and clean such as Pages.
The iLife suite has this same problem across the board. Lovely to look at, makes beautiful documents, but severely handicapped in what you can do with it. I wish the documentation had said something in the "how to export to PDF" about this omission before I went to all that work.

You can indeed export a PDF file with hyperlinks and retain those active links in the PDF document.
I'm not sure how this does or even can answer your question, and all of your subsequent updates aren't adding much understanding or clarity to the mix. Instead of reporting repeated failures, could you try listing out:
    a. what exactly you are trying to do, and
    b. how exactly you are trying to do that, and
    c. what you expect to see happen when you do it that way, and finally
    d. what you see instead, including the text of any error messages.

  • Can I set Connect meeting background as a WebPage that contains live links?

We're looking to harness the Adobe Connect meeting functionality by using it as a kind of a customers portal, where the user can (among other things) retrieve reports relating to their workflow.
    PRESENT STATE
Our organisation has a Report Web Application that lists reports (in pdf) that are mailed out to our customers. The administrator assistant generates reports from an https page from the Report Web Application.
    FUTURE STATE (hopefully!)
    1. Our organisation administrator sets up as many meetings in Connect as there are customers. Each customer has only one meeting. None of the other customers can see the others' meetings.
    2. On entry to the Connect meeting, the customer will be able to access the Report Web Application as a webpage and download the reports she requires
    My big questions here:
    1. Can we publish a webpage (with live links) in Connect?
    2. We'd like to encrypt the Connect meeting room webpage for best possible security. Is it possible to encrypt (https) some meetings but not others? If so, what extra things do we need to do this. PKI Infrastructure?
    3. Report Web Application is encrypted, will that make a difference to displaying t within an Adobe Connect meeting?
    4. Is there any problem if the clicking a Report Web Application links generates a pdf.?
    Other information:
-The Connect server is housed in our network if that makes any difference.
-The Web Reporting Application is pictured below. Clicking the 'Download' link will generate\display a pdf
-It will most likely need to be an encrypted webpage
That's all for now. Phone me if you like...I'd appreciate it!

  • RH9 TOC Links to PDF files are quirky

I have a project that consists of TOC book links to PDF files. In RH6 I always just manually popped them into the \!SSL!\WebHelp folder and linked to them from TOC books because importing them into the project took days. Or 20 minutes at least. Some of these files were 300 pages, so I manually loaded the smaller files too, to maintain procedural consistency. Either way, manually loading them is fastest so it just makes sense.
I'm doing this in RH9, and it works just fine in the live project. The problem is in Robohelp. No sooner do I close the project and reopen it, but all the books have question marks with crosses through them as if they have broken links. They do not.  The links are STILL fine, and when I compile the project they open, just as they should. In RH6 this wasn't remotely an issue.
Is this a bug? I went back and redid the links twice before realizing it wasn't me, it was Robohelp. So whenever I open a project that has a TOC book link to an outside file, like a .pdf, or .ppt, or xls or whatever, is this going to happen? I lose visual clues for the broken links because they ALL appear to be broken?

    Hi Maureen
I used to encounter this all the time with RoboHelp X5. And it coaxed me into developing what I feel is an interesting and more reliable approach.
Have you noticed that even on a fast intranet it seems to take an inordinate amount of time to open a PDF? I mean, with most of your topics, the user clicks and nearly instantly something happens. The topic generally loads right up in the topic pane. But a PDF, Word document or other file seems to take eons to load. Well, comparatively.
So I developed this thing I referred to as a "docfetch". Basically, I created regular RoboHelp topics. Linked those topics to the books pages or whatever. Then configured those topics to redirect to the PDF, Word document or other.
The expected benefit was that because I was now actually linking to topics in the project, those funky mysteriously broken links in the TOC disappeared. The unexpected side benefit was that users then saw an immediate response to clicking the link. I configured each of these topics to present some verbiage to the effect that they should please wait as the document was being opened. This put a stop to users reporting that things were "broken" as they then saw an immediate response.
The code you need will be placed in the HTML of the topic. Just insert it somewhere in the Head area.
    <meta HTTP-EQUIV=refresh CONTENT="3;URL=File_Name.pdf">
Of course you will want to adjust it to suit your own needs. For example, the line above is configured for a 3 second delay. You may want a shorter (or longer) delay. And you would adjust File_Name.pdf to reflect the path and file name of the PDF (or other file) you are linking to.
    Hope this helps... Rick

  • How to create link for pdf file in discoverer worksheet

    Hi All,
I would like to create a link for pdf file into discoverer report (worksheet).
So that i can open linked pdf file using worksheet link.
Can any one tell me about this?
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi,
I think the best way to do this is to use a database directory so that you can access your pdf file as a bfile. Then create a mod_plsql procedure that sets the mime type and downloads the pdf file. You then create a calculation in the EUL then returns the URL to your mod_plsql procedure. You can then include this calculation as a hyperlink in your worksheet.
It is not as difficult as it sounds. Please let me know if you need anymore details.

  • Linking a pdf in dreamweaver

I am learning dreamweaver and I have read and watched many videos on linking a pdf in my web page yet I am still having trouble. I have the file in my webpage folder, called 10brochure.pdf when I view it in sarafi before I upload it, it shows the file is there and opens. Yet when I publish it to the web it says NOT FOUND, The request URL/10brochure.pdf was not found on this server. Please check out www.mmo-stanstevens.com/pages/trophy_gallery.html to see where I am having trouble with 2010 and 2009 pdf, 2 years ago someone else added 06-08
    Thank you

Your pathway to the file seems to be off after looking at your code.2008 and 2007 have "
../pdf/2008_report.pdf" you need the same for 2009 and 2010. Is has a path of
"../09brochure.pdf". Make sure the 09 and 10 pdf's are in your pdf folder in your root and correct the path in your dreamweaver doc with /pdf/10brochure.pdf. Hope that helps
